As soon as Reyna woke up, She couldn't help but gasp. Her extremely tired brain was able to give her some pointers - one the smell in this room belonged to a person who caught her before she fainted, the same delicious smell of spicy musk and cinnamon bark that she smelled just before she fainted. And the scent most definitely belonged to a male because there was no way for her wolf would react so strongly like this.

She sat up straight and looked around, Her eyes scanned around warily. Though her saviour was good someone else was standing in place of him.

" well, well, well," said the shifter in a melodic voice  " you are finally up huh?"

It wouldn't take a crystal ball for you to know what happened next, right?

With a battle cry, Reyna sprinted towards the male shifter, her long blonde hair forming a wispy tail behind her. She lunged at the front of the male shifter sending him staggering, the male shifter didn't make an effort to stop her as she clawed and stabbed at his body. Though he didn't stop his efforts of defending against her.

"And just when did elves start to pop out of their magical dwellings?" surprised she stopped attacking him, arching a brow she asked when he gave her a devilish smirk, wondering exactly what exactly he found funny about her.

His smirk widened even more as he leaned back on the wall, seemingly unbothered by all the scratches " just calm down for a second, alright? I just want to talk to you nothing more before the Alpha comes"

" and who exactly is your Alpha?"

He winked " just be patient"

" oh great, that's exactly something I love to do in a completely strange surrounding"

Reyna licked her lips and asked, " why am I here? how did I get here ?"

" how much do you remember?"

With the throbbing pain in her back and abdomen, everything ." my pack mates tried to attack me, and if I'm not wrong I was cornered. I decked one and -"

" sent another one in a daze right? It must have been hard for you" said the male shifter " but you don't need to be scared, I can reassure you that I mean no harm, I'm Diskant, the Beta of the Cypher pack - you know about us right?"

Knew? Of course, she knew. Her Alpha was so bent on forming an alliance with this pack, even if she was knocked out and practically clawing on the last straw of her survival, Reyna could never forget the fact that the Alpha of this pack,  was just as much of a psycho as her Alpha, in a decent way but still a psycho. He was the kind of Alpha who was respected by all, admired by every single wolf but at the same time, he was feared by all. This image of his had a lot to do with the rumour of him nearly killing off a bunch of human teenagers.

" I do" swallowing hard Reyna answered, " but why are you telling me this?"

"You are great in combat," said Diskant kicking off the wall as he looked at her "I understand that it's possible when your wolf respects you but what about the effect that you have on the wolves? Was it because of your wolf too?" asked Diskant, straightforwardly.

Knowing that she wouldn't be able to hide it even if she wanted to Reyna decided to come clean " I'm an aide, that's why I can calm them down with my gift"

Diskant obviously knew what aides were though they were rare to find, they were not as rare that they were on the verge of being extinct.

Perfect, she was perfect for the job. He knew by bringing this she-wolf into the pack he will be overstepping his boundaries but as the Beta of the pack, it was his responsibility to take care of his pack as well as his Alpha.

No matter how goddamn stubborn the said Alpha might be.

Reyna could help his Alpha, Diskant knew it the moment he saw her, generally, his cranky Alpha's reaction to any strangers approaching their territory was to lunge and take a bite out of them, it was one of the many shortcomings of being born with a Dire wolf but to his surprise, his Alpha - didn't react as strongly as he usually did, under  Reyna's magic, he was awfully calm and collected, so calm that he brought a completely strange woman with questionable background back to their territory.

His Alpha never did such things before because his wolf's reaction to everything and anything that might be a potential threat to their pack was, sadly, an 'attack'. But that history somewhat changed when Reyna appeared on their territory.

Of course, that was the only reason he brought her here, if not he would be the first to let his Alpha take a bite out of her and end the threat to their pack before it harmed any of them.

"You will be perfect -"

"For what exactly?" asked Reyna arching an eyebrow but before Diskant could answer, the yummy scent that belonged to her mysterious saviour preceded the opening of the door as her mysterious saviour finally made an appearance.

Reyna felt her mouth drop.

Great. So her mysterious saviour was the neighbouring territory Alpha, Cain  Covington.

Given that she was saved by a person who was more or less just as insane as Glen, you would think that Reyna would be at least a little shocked about her perilous situation. She was. Under all her calm, she was nervous and completely blown away by her shock but this was something she couldn't say for her wolf. Oh no, her wolf was purring with deep satisfaction, Reyna could feel her wolf's urge to rub against Cain, she was confused enough about her situation but with the sparks of sensual hunger making her blood boil with warmth in a situation where she couldn't call it right at all, it only made her even more bewildered.

The situation was anything but sensual yet her wolf was enticed by Cain. What a tramp.

Alright, alright - Reyna would have to admit that this Patrick Bateman wannabe was seriously hot. And his brooding expression and sea-green eyes only added more charm to his already gorgeous charisma. His sleeveless button-down shirt did nothing of the sort to hide his board shoulders, those delicious triceps, defined upper body and washboard abs. Reyna didn't get a chance to admire a lot of male shifters with Glen keeping a close eye on her but still even with her lack of aesthetics, she couldn't help but admire Cain's physique.

If this wasn't the worse end of the stick, both her body and her wolf were reacting helplessly against his pheromones. Dominant pheromones seemed to be buzzing around him and Reyna couldn't help but relish his scent. His green eyes that were raking over her body was heating her blood rather than offending her, she could feel his hard penetrating gaze raking all over her body, lingering a little too long at her mouth.

Reyna refused to blush even though she caught the glazed and hungry look in Cain's eyes that surprisingly thrilled her at the same time knocking her off her feet. The aggressive way lust gripped her was so startling that it almost burnt in her skin.

Well, this was just super. Maybe she developed a soft spot for psychopaths after growing up with one. Or maybe she has developed Stockholm syndrome.

Her attraction to him only made her irritated, she wasn't the type to impulsively react according to her body and wolf , so suppressing  her intense attraction towards him - Reyna returned his full dominant Alpha glare with one of her , te but she was an Alpha too though she looked more like a submissive than a dominant .

Licking her lips slightly  uncomfortable under his intense inspection , Reyna guessed " So you are the one who saved me?"

  • Mated to a Dire wolf   Epilogue

Her father escorted her out of the lodge, down the patio and through the trees on the path that led to the artificial lake sitting in the middle of the forest. That was the spot where the two of them first realised that they were mates, both of them thought that the mating ceremony would be a lot more meaningful if they were to hold it there. As they walked past the last of the trees and entered the clearing near the artificial lake, she noticed that the rest of the pack was sitting on both sides of the aisle and at the end stood Cain together with Diskant who has very gracefully —— that was to say fought with the other enforcers to get the spot as Cain’s best man. Behind the podium was Aron who was going to play the role of the priest and let them exchange their mating ceremony vows. Her father stopped at the start of the aisle and then turned to look at her before clearing his throat. “ I will say that I am not a fan of that emotionally unstable wolf—-”“ Dad” Reyna rolled her ey

  • Mated to a Dire wolf   The end

As both wolves jumped at each other Nolan and Daniel who were waiting for their chance rushed in before they slashed open the shifter-resistant ropes freeing Valentina and Mike but they left Daxton tied without even looking at him causing her mother to angrily hiss. “ Daniel, don’t make me hurt you.” Only then did Daniel free her father who sat up straight and despite looking rather worn out glared at Daniel. “I got you, honey,” once Nolan was done slicing the ropes that were bounding her with a pocket knife and pulled her away from the fight as he noticed that the coppery scent of the blood seemed to have seeped through the very pore of the wooden warehouse. But Reyna wasn’t the slightest bit nauseated by the thick scent of blood, no …all the blood, growls and hatred that was oozing out of Cain at the moment was inciting her wolf who snarled and clawed in the air urging the wolf to take the wolf’s head off in just one big chomp. Even as she and her parents moved away from the brawl

  • Mated to a Dire wolf   Cain was here.

Cain stood there in front of her with eyes coldly glinting as he looked at Robin, his mouth was curled in a cruel snarl but he didn’t move probably because Robin had his man point a gun at her parents. Robin chuckled with a harsh bite to his laughter. “ You are really good, Covington. You found us much faster than I have expected you would. It’s a shame though I was hoping for a final climax before sending you away.” Cain’s nostrils flared as he stared at Robin without blinking his eyes. “ You won’t kill them,” said Cain, his voice was carefully controlled but Reyna could sense the anger brimming off him and why wouldn’t he? The man just watched another male try to claim his mate overriding his claiming mark. “ If you do, then Reyna would never go with you, you know that right?” “ I wouldn’t like to kill anyone here,” said Robin. “ But will I kill everyone in this room including myself? I will. If that's what stops you from taking her away from me? I will do that definitely. Esp

  • Mated to a Dire wolf   Bree’s death.

Reyna stared at Bree with a disgusted expression. “ You are … have you ever seen anything past your own selfishness? Did you even care about what happened because of your stupid desires? Sawyer almost lost control of her wolf! And if that isn’t the worst thing, two enforcers died——”“ They were not supposed to die!” snapped Bree with her eyes looking a bit feverish. “ I never asked the loners to kill the pack mates, but they were in their way and they … and Gerald found out that it was me because when the two females couldn’t get past them without hurting either of them, they called me and he..he heard my voice and threatened to tell Cain. I couldn’t…I couldn’t, I couldn’t let him go, it’s his fault for being too nosy.”“Nosy? It was you who asked those loners to kill them! And for what they heard your voice? Then you should have taken the consequences of your actions like the good person you act!” Bree looked at her with eyes that were glowing and panted hard. “ I am a good person,

  • Mated to a Dire wolf   Dumb

“ I saw that Robin guy go in there,” said Diskant as he jumped down from the tree. “ He was still wearing the mask of Mike but he didn’t look like him at all, that faint swagger and those haunting eyes, he looks like some corpse or something, I swear I felt a chill crawl up when I saw his face. Like how can somebody be this expressionless, and here I thought that Reyna was exaggerating when she said that the guy was as much of an emotional fool as a dead body. Turns it she was right,” at Cain’s glare, he cleared his throat and continued, “Anyway that’s not what is important, it’s that the guy went in that old warehouse and I cannot see anything past that, can’t catch a glimpse of what’s going inside.” “ He is keeping Reyna there, that’s all I need to know,” Cain flexed his jaw as he stared at the warehouse with a calm that his body and wolf both didn’t have. His body was burning with a kind of energy that was enough to drive him crazy. He was no longer as anxious as before but he was

  • Mated to a Dire wolf   You know who was behind the scenes right?

The wolf under Cain dragged a figure into the light —— Damn it. It was Bree who was being dragged on the broken wooden floor, gagged, bounded and with her face swollen like she has been beaten badly but at least she wasn’t bleeding and with her shifter healing she was slowly getting better. Her eyes shot to Reyna and at once Reyna was able to feel the fear, trepidation and dread that was coursing through Bree. Her eyes were darting around madly and her mouth seemed to be working nonstop but Reyna wasn’t able to understand a single word. Reyna sucked in a breath through her nose, with her mouth taped she had no other choice. She peered at her parents who were lying unconscious and a surge of anger and grief rose in her heart, if she could she would have killed Robin here and now for touching her parents but she couldn’t no matter how much she tried to struggle against the ropes she couldn’t, all she could do was to glare at Robin who smiled back at her with a feverish glint in his e
