Preposition

Cain regarded the female in front of him curiously. He knew that she was entrapped by Glen, the reason was currently unknown because- he couldn't investigate everything about her in just nine hours.

For the first time in his life, Cain felt as if he was thrown off his loop. Every time he faced someone the only expression they had was of terror and fear, whether it was an ally or enemy they all feared that he might lose whatever control he had over his dire wolf, and maim them to death, all thanks to the rumours and his past.

Reyna came as a surprise, and if she was born just to torment him, Cain found that he was becoming awfully hard as primal hunger swept through his system, building small cracks in his self-control.

Cain found it surprising that even his wolf was attracted to Reyna, it was the first time after all. He and his wolf rarely were in accord regarding various things, It wasn't that their nature was different, both he and his wolf were aggressive, hard, stubborn and solemn. Maybe it was because of his dire wolf, his personality more or less became just as forceful and strong to control his wolf better. But it was because of this reason he and his wolf clashed a lot, they couldn't agree on one thing ever. And this friction only got worse because of their different tastes in women.

Though his wolf didn't stop Cain from choosing his females, he never showed any interest in the females of Cain's choices which thereby caused the lack of investment in the relationship that the dominant females found both insulting and resentful. Similarly, Cain would find himself banging his head against a wall when his wolf drove him crazy for pursuing a female of his choice, a female that Cain was never attracted to in any way.

However, for once the two of them were totally on the same track when it came to the female who was sitting in front of him - Reyna Aniston was tempting as fuck.

She wasn't beautiful in the ' oh everyone's going to turn their head in her direction ' way but in an underrated way, like a diamond hidden under coal. Although she was petite with a slender build, Cain knew she had all the curves sitting in the right places, curves that were playing X - rated fantasies in his head. Every time her stormy grey eyes locked with his, Cain felt a zap of arousal coursing in his veins.

His gaze flickered to her healthy olive skin and the lust that he was suppressing with whatever patience he had broken free again, blasting through him with an alarming force, he wanted to lap at that olive skin, cup those high perky breasts in his hands, and to make matter worse his wolf was urging him to do just that.

Cain swallowed hard, before inhaling the scent of the female who currently had his entire attention. And damn. He couldn't help but curse when that delicious scent slithered over him - a fusion of cocoa, oak bark and forest rain with sensualness.

Don't even go there.

She was nothing but a woman he saved because somehow she calmed his wolf down.

his dire wolf's perception was often blinded anger which in turn caused them to turn feral in battles. However, Cain found that his perception wasn't as clouded as it was when he was near Reyna, her presence alone was enough to flush out all his negative emotions from his body. He knew that she wasn't even using her power at him currently but that was just how Aides were they could do so much more than omega.

" Yes, I'm the one who saved you" he didn't know why he was responding to her," I see that you fought like a wildcat with my Beta I think calling you a wild cat is an understatement. I have never seen anyone marking my beta like that"

" damn right" piped Diskant nursing the set of claw marks she left on his body, although she wasn't strong enough after draining her power like that she could still partially shift to deal with dangerous situations.

" Why did you save me?" Reyna, she was of course thankful that they saved her but what if they had anything in their mind like Glen,? Thinking like this, her wolf set up straight in high alert.

Cain's inward smile surfaced, Diskant was right she was perfect for what he wanted her for, to make their plan work out perfectly, he decided to cut to the chase right of the bat " Glen McBride"

Reyna's wolf immediately growled inside her head at the mention of that name" what about him?"

" He is after you right? I think I recognised the wolf that was chasing you like he was a dying man and you were his only one who could save him."

"Really?"

" Glen is searching for you, I'm sure he will arrive any second now" Cain nodded, he wasn't lying, Glen was indeed in frenzy after losing this she-wolf.  He was certain that the neighbouring Alpha would be bringing his uninvited self any second to his territory.

" Great" that was fun-fucking-tastic news, she spent so much effort to escape from him and now this psycho boy would send her back right wherefrom she escaped from.

" I can help you if you want," said Cain, in fact, he has no plan of letting her go even if Glen comes to his territory but he didn't want the female to think that it was too easy to gain a sanctuary in his pack.

Her heart almost stopped then and there " why would you do that? how could you even do that?"

" you can join my pack"

" what would you gain from it ?" asked Reyna though it was unexpected, she couldn't help but be suspicious of his intentions.

" An aide"

Really? " why would you want an aide?"

" well, I do have a proposition that will be useful for you and me, if you want to agree to the prep you can nod but if not you can leave, but I don't think you will be able to leave "

He was right ." what's your proposition?"

" I'm sure that you have already heard about how I supposedly beat the hell out of three humans and killed one. Well, it's true, I did that but for good reasons. I won the fight and was able to protect what was important to me from the humans but, I was branded as a murderer, human extremists wanted me killed while my pack protected me because I was the only heir of my father after all. In the end, the council stepped in and the human extremists and my pack came to a compromise that I will be sent to juvenile prison. I was a teenager back then and they couldn't do much to me -so, I stayed at the juvie for a good deal of time, suffered through the torment that humans brought to me again it's not important - what's important is that it left my wolf in a lurch, I was born with a dire wolf, in case you didn't know.  And the years in the juvenile prison made him even more unpredictable and out of control, years have gone by but the humans never forgot what I did not do the council, I don't give a damn about them what I care about is my wolf. He is too volatile and hurt, I can't let him have control - he is distressed after what happened to us in the prison and I can't calm him down.  I think you will be useful for my pack and more importantly to me" Clearing his throat, Cain continued " A few days ago, for instance, I - unfortunately, injured one of my packmates severely when I shifted., I'm afraid that if I don't get my wolf healed, the council will surely come to bite me back in my ass. You know how they are"

Oh, she did, the council was supposed to take care of the feuds between humans and werewolves but it soon degraded to nothing but a group of sleazy old men who cannot control their greed. They like controlling the Alphas through their weaknesses, once the council get hold of Alphas weakness then, the council will be in charge of the pack while the Alpha will only have the title of Alpha and nothing more, isn't it because of this that Glen was working so hard to suppress his emotional outbursts?

" In short you want me to heal your damaged wolf?" asked Reyna " your reasons are valid but Glen would never approve, he will definitely try to take me away if you accept me in the pack"

" he would but if I told him that you are my mate, he would have to back down even if didn't want to"

Reyna stiffened, surely he wasn't suggesting what she thought he was suggesting right?

"Think about it, you need someone to protect you and I need someone who could help by the wolf. I for one know that you are not Glen's true mate if you were, you wouldn't have been able to run away from him even if you wanted to, your wolf would have never agreed to it. "

" you know a lot about my situation"

" It's my job to investigate about any wolf that comes on my territory.  I can't just take in anyone in my pack after all? I'm suggesting you the best way possible, you need my protection and I need your powers"

Powers, powers, powers "So you want me to mate with you rejecting a guy who wants to mate with me for the exact same reason?" Reyna snickered " I find it hilarious that you believed that I would agree to this"

"There is a big difference between mating with me and mating with Glen and you know that"

" really? What?"

" with me, the mating wouldn't be permanent, I will let you go after my wolf is healed and unlike Glen, I don't get a kick out of physically hurting my female"

Bewildered, Reyna frowned " wolves mates for life"

" yea but I don't want any strings attached, not the soul-bonding and lifemates thingy at all " he was pretty sure he couldn't deal with that anyway " we can pretend that it's real to muddle through things in front of Glen but that's it's."

" what about your pack?" she couldn't help but ask

"They will play along, I reassure of that. No one is going to subject you to any harm as long as you are under my protection"

A part of Reyna wanted to agree but she couldn't help but hesitate. However, this was her best choice. She ran a hand through her hair and spoke straightforwardly " fine, but as much as it's going to be a pain in the ass, I agree to it. I hope you know what you are getting into, but since you have thought it through, I will accept but I have one condition"

" shoot"

" I want you to find my parents, I know they would try to reach my uncle's pack but just in case I want to make sure of it"

Cain gave her a crooked smile " don't worry, I have already sent my wolves to track them down"

Surprised at his sudden confession, Reyna couldn't help but give him a gratified look. Cain couldn't stop his smile when he caught her smiling at him, however, then his phone rang and all traces of smile were gone" looks like your dear Alpha is here to get you "
