Chapter 2

" Reyna hurry" ushered Valentina as she ran with Daxton on her back. Her father's leg still haven't recovered letting him run in such a condition might do more harm than good, fortunately, her mother was strong enough to run with her father on the back.

Reyna rushed in the direction her mother had run off to. With her sensitive hearing, she could hear the howls of a dozen furious wolves coming after her. Reyna was certain that Glen wasn't with them because even though she pulled back her power that subdued him, his emotions must be in a jumbled mess. If he really came after her then there was a high chance of him losing control of his emotions and wolf if that happened, it was likely that everyone in the black moon pack might die or at worse get seriously injured to be tortured by the Hades of their pack.

A howl split up in the air, making Reyna pause. She cursed when a grey-white wolf prowled out of the clearing next to her flanked by three other wolves, she should have known - the territory was only this big, she might have not been allowed to leave the territory but that doesn't mean anyone else wasn't allowed either, the wolves should have known all shortcuts around their territory.

" mum, you go, you need to leave! Leave with dad " seeing that the grey-white wolf had no intention to lunge at her parents and was only prowling around her sneakily and stealthily, looking for an opening. Reyna knew who it was, she understood that tonight she might not be able to make a run for it without fighting.

" We are not leaving you" hissed Valentina, the dominant wolf in her would never allow her to leave their pup behind.

" they don't want you, mum, they want me," said Reyna as she kicked off her shoes and stood up vigilant, her eyes firmly glued to the grey-white wolf.

" But-"

"Mum, Go! Go as far as you can now" snapped Reyna as the reddish-brown wolf next to the grey one lunged at her parents, he was fast really fast but Reyna was faster than him, she aimed a punch right on the jaw of the animal before twisting her upper body and clawing at him, she stabbed her claws firmly in its muzzle before shifting in her wolf form and biting the wolf's shoulder.

Thankfully, her mother understood and shifted into a golden brown wolf, the she-wolf allowed her father to climb on her withers before giving Reyna a long, wistful look before running away from the fight.

As the grey-white wolf shifted and Amber came to stand in front of her Reyna shifted in her human form as well, she unleashed a bit of her power by blowing it into the air like blowing out cigar fumes, which swirled around the four wolves in soft white fumes, calming the anger that was bursting forth from their body and stinging her skin.

These fumes were not something that could only be seen by her alone, the others could also see them which is why Amber shot the fumes a slow, patronising look before she spoke in a voice just below a whisper "you shouldn't have done that, you knew Glen wouldn't like it"

" he wouldn't like you trying to maim me with four of your bitches behind his back either" Reyna had caught on to Amber's motive intentions of coming after her with four wolves,  she was alone even if she was more dominant than Amber, it didn't make sense for Amber to bring four wolves just to chase after her unless she never intended to bring her back alive.

" it's not my fault" drawled Amber " it's yours. You might act all superior like you can't even be bothered about Glen but honestly, you liked his attention. Why else will you act all bothered by him one second and the next second you would let him mark you? You aren't afraid to mate with him, you are afraid of losing his attention. You are afraid that he will want me more after he mates with you"

"You are not that important." snorted Reyna "I’m not you. That guy you treasure so much is just junk to me."

" fine if this is how you want to play" sneered Amber before shifting and aiming her fangs at her jaw, Reyna sidestepped but she lost track of the three other wolves when Amber attacked the four as well lunged at her. Reyna calmed two down with her gift while the other one stabbed her on her side. Cursing, she twisted her body before she snapped her gift at the wolf that she missed, calming the three together wasn't easy, but she did it.

Now her opponent was only Amber, who didn't show any mercy. She sliced and claw, carving in Reyna’s flesh as if she wanted to claw out her heart in one go. A bleeding Reyna could only repeatedly kick and inflict uppercuts on the latter, evading most of the attacks while waiting untile Amber finally tired herself out

! And then Reyna shift into her wolf form and attacked Amber.

She couldn't use her gift while she was in her wolf form, but the other three wolves still needed to be pacified. So she just as quickly shifted back to her human form to maintain her magic. However, subduing Glen has sapped most of her energy. Just a moment later, she was close to fainting already.

Holding on for almost one last breath, Reyna

continued to switch forms and somehow managed to prevail in the battle against Amber. She swiped her hands and blew another swirl of calmness through her mouth in the air, the wolves sniffed and retreated ever so slightly leaving Amber alone who has shifted back into her human form.

Reyna slammed her foot on Amber's head just like the latter once did. " this is why you never dared to challenge me without bringing your little friends with you Amber, you knew I would humiliate you in front of the entire pack and question your suitability as the beta female of the pack, I must say this will rank first in your list of a most embarrassing event of your life"

Then without waiting for her magic to weaken its hold on the other three wolves, Reyna ran down the path her parents took, using all her strength.

She couldn't allow herself to drop unconscious now. Otherwise, she would be taken back to Glen, and her parents would be dragged to hell!

There was a ripple of unease in the air when a pair of unknown wolves stalked out of the shadows.

The strangers in front of her were someone whom she should be wary of, the blend of distrust, impatience and caution was making her scalp tingle. However, for some reason a curious carnal almost animalistic lust was licking her skin, heating her blood - a need so desirable pooled in her stomach. It was instant and elemental, which should make no sense to her at all, but Reyna could feel her heart that was pricked by the distrust and scorn was softly being soothed by the sparks of a sensual hunger that made her body warm-up.

That made her curious about her saviours, she wanted to have a good look at them but then her knees buckled under her.

Reyna was prepared for the impact of hitting the ground but before that, two muscular arms wrapped around her waist as the most delicious scent of spicy musk, cinnamon bark and masculinity surrounded her like a warm fuzzy blanket. Her emotions went into a frenzy before her eyelids fell and darkness befell on her.
