“I…oh…”
He growled. “Where are you going, Miss?”
I blushed. “Um…” I turned away. “Someone was trying to hurt me. I needed to escape.”
“Come with me. I’ll keep you safe.”
“Oh, I don’t----”
He was so big and strong that there was no point in me trying to get away from him. “Don’t fight me, Omega. It will be a losing battle.”
“I—okay.”
I relented, and he carried me back into the hotel.
“You’re hurt,” the stranger said as he placed me on his bed. “Let me get something to heal that.” He went to his suitcase and he pulled out a purple bottle. “This should take care of those scrapes.”
He handed it to me and I drank it. It tasted like sunshine and laughter and my mothers’ cookies all at once although I wasn’t sure how. When I finished drinking, I watched in shock as the cuts and scrapes I had gotten from jumping from the window healed. “Little Omega,” the tall man said, “why were you running?”
“I…” I thought back to everything that had happened with Quinn and Jack. And my father being dead. It felt too intense to tell a complete stranger. “I was a little drunk. I wasn’t running from anyone.” That was a complete lie. But I didn’t want to confess my problems to a werewolf that I didn’t know if I could even trust yet. He might have healed me, but who knew what his motives were?
He was staring at me so intently though I had to tell him something. “I ran into my ex into the hotel,” I told him, “He’s having an affair with my Step Mother. I didn’t want to be in the same place as him and I didn’t want him to see me.”
There. It wasn’t a complete and total lie.
The werewolf before me growled. “I’m sorry about that. I can’t believe that a man would be foolish enough to choose another woman over you. You’re gorgeous.” He sat on the bed and reached out to stroke my cheek.
I blushed.
His heated gaze was making me feel something that I had never felt before. And then…my stomach growled.
He glanced down at me. “When was the last time that you ate something, Little Omega?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted.
The werewolf went over to the nightstand and grabbed the phone. He dialed a number. “Hello, room service? Can I get a large burger with French fries, some sodas, and some ice cream? Oh, and some onion rings?” He flashed me a big smile. I should have asked the stranger his name but every time I opened my mouth no words came out. All I could do was stare at him.
He hung up the phone and he sat down next to me on the bed. “This ex-boyfriend of his. Would you like to get back at him?”
I laughed. “You can’t be serious?”
“I am serious,” he said, “I think you deserve to have someone that treats you right, pretty little thing. I’m guessing that man never knew what he was doing with you.”
I blushed.
Sex with Jack had been…okay. But it had never been that all-consuming, all-powerful thing that werewolves with mates talked about. “I don’t talk about stuff like that,” I said, “anyway, he was my first boyfriend…”
There was a knock on the door. “Room service.”
“Come in,” said the man.
The door opened, and a waiter brought in a tray with the food. The werewolf took the food and he handed it to me. He tipped the waiter, who closed the door behind him. I smelled the food.
“Oh!” I gasped. “That smells so good.”
“Eat up,” said the werewolf, “you need your strength for the things that I am going to do to you…”
He growled a little, and I found myself feeling wet between my legs. I ate and we talked a little. He told me that he was in business. That he was there for some kind of deal.
Four “Are you here with your pack?” I asked. “Something like that,” he said with a smirk, “but I might have had some time to kill and I think I want to spend it enjoying you.” I tried to focus on the food. I took a bite of a French fry, but all I could focus on was the strangers muscled arm over my legs. He started stroking my legs lightly with his fingers. “You’re beautiful. Really fucking beautiful. And I want to show you the kind of fucking that a woman as beautiful as you deserves.” I blushed, and I moved the food back over on the tray that it had been brought in on. “Would you like that?” he asked. I nodded. “I would like that. I would like that very much.” I took my dress off, and tossed it to the ground. I was surprised by how brazen this man made me. When I’d been with Jack, I had always let him do everything to me. I barely even participated. I was too scared. He stood up on his knees and towered over m
FIVEThe Moonstone Pack Estate was a large, sprawling thing at the edge of the city. It had over a hundred rooms so we could have important members of the werewolf community stay there in times of war. Every Alpha was in charge of a different part of the country, and my father was…. had been in charge of New York. We had an office building in the city too, but wolves did better when they were closer to nature. The uber I took dropped me off out front and I was surprised to see my Step Mother there, waiting for me. She glared at me and pulled me roughly by the arm so that I was right in her face. “Where have you BEEN?” she demanded. “What are you talking about?” I said. “You know where I was. I was hiding out at the hotel from you, because you said you were going to kick me out as soon as my father died.” She shook her head and let go of me. “The press got some pictures. The last thing I wanted was to be at Quinn and Jacks engagement party alone. “Emily, are you okay?” a voice asked me. I looked up and I saw Julie, one of our maids, smiling at me. She was an Omega and hadn’t found her mate yet. She was pretty, with mousy, blond hair that she kept pulled up in a bun and wore the grey maids outfit Quinn had our maid’s wear. Julie was also the person I had closest to a friend. “Yeah, I’m fine,” I lied, smiling softly at her. Julie shook her head. “You don’t look fine. This has to be getting to you. Your father just died, there hasn’t even been a funeral, and Quinn is already having a wedding to your ex-boyfriend. This is me you’re talking to. I know that you’ve got to be pissed.” I was pissed. But I couldn’t say that out loud. If the wrong person
One The room was spinning. The drink that I had had was almost finished. But I couldn’t remember how many drinks I had had. Drinking wasn’t something that I normally did. But it had been a shitty week. My father, the Alpha of my wolfpack, had fallen into a coma and no one knew why. The doctors and healers had tried everything but he couldn’t wake up. On top of everything, my ex-boyfriend kept on coming around again. I wasn’t sure why. We’d dated for a year. My father had hated him. He kept on telling me that he wasn’t my mate and I shouldn’t have dated him because it was doing my mate a disservice. But there was something about Jack that had drawn me in. He could be charming when he wanted to be. I’d also been convinced that eventually, he would recognize me as my mate. Then the rumors started. Two Rage coursed through me. I hated that I had so much of it and no wolf to show for it. If I did, I would have scratched his face off. “You…you…” I shook my head, feeling tears coming down my face. “You can’t be serious. Out of everyone you could have picked, you had to pick Quinn?” Jack pulled her close to him and sniffed her hair. “I didn’t just pick her. She’s my mate. We found out when your father went into the hospital. He was keeping us from being together.” If I had had a wolf, my wolf would have known what to do in this situation. As it was, I couldn’t help but cry uncontrollably. I shoved Jack. Hard. “How could you do this?” I demanded. “You know how awful that—that---” I glared at Quinn. “That what?” Quinn sneered. “My father’s not even dead yet!” I hissed. Quinn smiled. “Oh, you didn’t know? He died last night. This was my way of celebrating.” "No, no, You're lying to me. I don't believe
