LORRAINE’S POV
I couldn’t get the call with Jayden off my mind. Why didn’t I feel as excited as I should have when he confused his love for me? Why did it feel so empty when I said it back? I was supposed to love them with everything. Heart, body and soul, yet when I spoke to them last night, it felt like I was detached from them somehow.I tried not to overthink it. It was probably the shock of seeing Chloe and Hector together.Today, I went to her room with soup for her hangover. I was shocked to see her bed empty. I looked out of her window which was still shut to confirm if her car was still in the driveway and it was. Where in heaven’s name could she have gone to so early? Without her car too!I dropped the soup and covered it properly before cleaning her room. I returned to my normal morning chores and soon it was time for breakfast. The Alpha and Luna came down for breakfast but there was still no sign of Chloe.I tLORRAINE'S POV I couldn't believe my eyes. I pinched myself hard to make sure I wasn't hallucinating but it remained the same. Her head was already separated from her body and they were ripping her apart before Jayden smelled me. “Lorraine…” he stepped closer and I staggered backward. “No…” the words fell off my sleep. “This isn't real…”But there was no way this could be a mistake. Their scents were very prominent. It wasn't a mirage. My mates just murdered my best friend. The Alpha's daughter. Oh goodness!I had to get away from here. “Lorraine wait…”I broke into a run, terrified for my life and heartbroken. I thought she was a friend to them. Why would they betray her this way?I didn't get far before Jayden pinned me. “Let go of me!” I cried. “No,” he growled, pushing himself into me. Jordan joined us in no time and my heart threatened to explode.
LORRAINE'S POVArrest me?What did I do?“No, no, you can't take me please,” I pleaded. I didn't want to go back to that disgusting underground cell. “The twins killed her, I swear it,” I sobbed. “Enough with the lies already! My daughter was nothing but nice to you and you did this to her? I always knew you couldn't be trusted but be rest assured you are not going to get away with this!” The Luna screamed at me. Tears poured my cheeks in torrents. Why won't they believe me? I was nothing but a weakling, how could they possibly think that I killed her?“We found her passed out, Alpha. In the forest. I think they were indeed attacked,” Hector spoke up.I looked at him tearily. “What are you implying? That the twins killed my daughter? Do you even know how ridiculous that story is? The Nightwalkers and the Lycans have been in peace for years! We had a treaty so why would they suddenly go bac
JAYDEN'S POV They were torturing her. We could feel her pain and agony. Every day felt like hell. If we could feel this level of pain here, I could only imagine the pain she was going through.Yet our father forbade us from leaving the pack house. I didn't know how to convince. I didn't even think anything we said could change his mind. Not even the fact that they could kill our mate.He insisted that we wait for their Alpha to confront us. I didn't know what made him think the weak Alpha would have the balls to challenge him but I hoped he was right. I would never forgive him if anything happened to Lorraine. I didn't even know if she would want anything to do with us after everything that happened. We killed her friend and forcefully tried to mark her. “We can't stay in here hoping,” Jordan spoke up. “They could kill her before their so-called Alpha shows us as our father claims. We have to save
LORRAINE'S POVI clutched my cheeks in shock. If anyone had told me that the twins were this evil, I would never have believed, but here I was, experiencing it firsthand. The feeling of heartbreak and betrayal was the worst ever.“How dare you tell such an audacious lie?! Do you think we have the liberty to entertain such expensive jokes?” Jordan snapped at me. “You got yourself a bold liar here. Fearlessly accusing my sons in our presence. In any case, I like to be fair so I will ask her to prove her claims,” Alpha Gordon said. My jaw hung in the air. Proof? Where was I supposed to get proof in the face of danger?Even if I said we were all friends, no one would believe me. Even at that, I would be asked why they would kill their friend. Tears poured down my cheeks as I called on my wolf to tell me what to do. Admit you killed her.“What?” I blurted and all attention focused on me. I lowered m
LORRAINE'S POVOnce upon a time, the idea of sleeping in a cell terrified me, but now, going back to my cell was an utmost relief. My stomach grumbled but my mind was more focused on the physical state of my body now. My once milky skin was gone. It was now replaced with burned chalk black skin. I knew it would recover but it was going to take a while. My stomach grumbled again but I curled on the floor, shutting my eyes in hopes of sleeping. I was no longer kept underground due to the stress of bringing me back up so they put me in a normal cell and appointed a guard to watch. “You, guard the prisoner and make sure no one gives her food or water. If she escapes, be rest assured that the Alpha will have your head.” “Okay.”The familiarity of that made my head shoot up. Just as I suspected, it was Hector. My eyes watered. It felt so good to see him but I was skeptical about talking to hi
LORRAINE'S POVI already gave up. The thought of losing my virginity to a random stranger made my heart ache but there was nothing I could do about it. I was weak and defenseless against him.“That's right. Spread those legs that a good girl that you are,” he drawled and my chest twisted in disgust. I wanted nothing to do with this imbecile.“Hey!” I heard Hector's voice immediately and relief washed through me. He yanked the guard and shoved him to the floor.“What the hell do you think you're doing?” He growled at the guard. “Calm down, man. I just wanted to do a quick one with her. We can take turns, alright,” he offered and Hector's fists clenched. The rage he felt was visible on him and happy tears poured down my cheeks. It was good to see someone willing to fight for me. “Get out of here before I report you to the Alpha. She was brought here to confess her crime not to pleasure your stupid dick!” He barked and the guard raised his hand in surrender.“I'm going alright. There
JAYDEN'S POV“This is not what we agreed, father. You said as soon as the Alpha showed up, we would get her from him so what's the reason we're still here doing nothing while our mate struggles to survive?” I demanded. He didn't even act like I was talking to him. He continued with his laptop like he was alone in the room. “Father, I am talking to you!” I growled. “And the engagement you promised would be called off. Why haven't you done anything about it yet?” He said nothing to that once again and I was beyond pissed. Why was he playing games with us? We did exactly what he asked, and now it was his turn to do his own part of the bargain; he was ignoring us.“Father, I am talking to you!” I shut his laptop in annoyance. I was this close to smashing it against the wall. “You hear when the Alpha said that he would hand her over once he extracts the truth from her so why are you still bothering me?” He snapped. I couldn't believe him. He was waiting for Alpha Taylor to finish wit
HECTOR'S POV“You've killed him!” she exclaimed. I placed my head on his chest, hoping to hear his heartbeat but there was none either. I straightened up immediately, thinking of the course in line to take. This was bad. Very bad. “He's dead, Hector! Why are you just standing here? Do something!” she cried, but what could I do? I killed a man and there was no way to bring him back to life. I wasn't even supposed to be here! What would be my excuse? That I heard her screaming and rushed in here to kill him?The only thing I could do at this moment was hide the body. But before I could make a move, I heard multiple footsteps.“There he is!” They exclaimed. They were going to see the body. There was no way to hide it. They marched into the cell and as expected, paused at the sight of the body. One of them went down to check his pulse and his face went pale immediately. Their accusing gazes immediately landed on Lorraine.“You killed him?!” The Chief guard thundered. “No, she di
