Eunice’ POV
"Congratulations, you are two weeks pregnant!" Doctor Miranda beamed as she passed my test results across the desk.
I couldn't contain my happiness. A wide smile spread across my face as I looked at Dr. Miranda, my heart swelling with joy.
"Thank you so much!" I said, my voice brimming with excitement.
My husband, Tyler, and I had been trying for two years—two long years of disappointment and heartbreak. Just when I had begun to lose hope, I was finally pregnant. The realization sent a wave of relief through me.
Eager to share the news, I headed straight to the mall to pick up fresh ingredients. I wanted to surprise Tyler over a well-prepared dinner—his favorite meal, paired with the best news of our lives.
I carefully selected everything I needed: filet mignon, vibrant asparagus, golden Yukon potatoes, and a basket of ripe strawberries. A bottle of red wine caught my eye, but after a brief hesitation, I opted for sparkling grape juice instead. Tonight was special, and I wanted everything to be perfect.
As I stepped out of the mall, I imagined how the meal would come together—a perfectly seared steak drizzled with garlic butter, roasted asparagus with Parmesan, and creamy mashed potatoes. For dessert, chocolate-covered strawberries, just the way he loved them.
But as soon as I entered the house, reality came crashing down.
My arms ached from carrying the grocery bags, yet the sight before me made me forget the strain. The unmistakable chaos of my mother-in-law’s presence greeted me—cluttered furniture, spilled tea on the table, and used tissues scattered like fallen leaves.
Diana, my mother-in-law, had been diagnosed with early-stage cancer. She had promised many times to keep things tidy, to at least try. But every time I stepped into the house, it was the same overwhelming sight.
I sighed, setting the grocery bags down in the kitchen without even unpacking them. The fresh vegetables, the choice cuts of meat—everything would have to wait. Right now, I had to deal with this mess.
Rolling up my sleeves, I grabbed a trash bag and started cleaning. I wasn’t just doing this for her—I was doing it for Tyler, for our home, for the loyalty I had to our family. No matter how exhausting it got, I refused to let our house become unlivable.
When I was done, I helped Diana with her medication. I had noticed a pattern—whenever she took her pills, exhaustion overtook her, and she would fall asleep almost instantly. As expected, her eyelids drooped with fatigue.
Gently guiding her to bed, I kissed her forehead. "You will be fine, Mother," I assured her softly.
She gave me a tired but grateful smile. "Thank you, dear. I appreciate everything you do for me and my son. We won’t take it for granted."
Her voice wavered, the pain evident beneath her words.
"It’s okay, Mum. Please rest now," I whispered, patting her shoulder gently. Within minutes, she was fast asleep.
Carefully, I rose from the bedside, making sure not to wake her. I tiptoed out of the room, my footsteps light against the floor, and made my way back to the kitchen.
It was already 4 PM. Tyler would be home by 7 PM. I smiled to myself—I still had just enough time to prepare our special dinner.
I busied myself in the kitchen, chopping, seasoning, and cooking with precision. By 6 PM, the air was filled with the rich aroma of perfectly seared steak and roasted asparagus. I set the dining table, making sure everything looked elegant. The sparkling juice gleamed in a crystal pitcher, adding a sophisticated touch.
Satisfied, I rushed upstairs to freshen up. Stepping into the shower, I let the warm water relax me. Afterward, I sprayed on my favorite body mist and perfume, wanting to smell irresistible for Tyler.
I knew what he liked—he loved seeing me in sexy, revealing outfits whenever he was home. With that in mind, I slipped into the perfect lingerie—the one he had bought me last Christmas, claiming he wanted it to be the sexiest and happiest Christmas ever.
I still smiled whenever I remembered how he had said it, the way he had kissed me on the lips as he handed it to me. That night, we had made love with so much passion, and now, I was carrying the result of that moment.
I sat at the dining table, excitement bubbling within me.
But as the minutes ticked by, my anticipation turned into concern.
By 7:30 PM, Tyler still hadn’t arrived. Frowning, I walked to the window, parting the curtain slightly. This was unusual—he was never late. He always arrived at exactly 7 PM.
Was he working late?
Trying not to overthink, I picked up my phone and dialed his number.
“The number you have called is currently switched off. Please try again later.”
A robotic auto-response echoed in my ears.
My heart skipped a beat. Tyler never switched off his phone.
Pushing away the unease creeping into my chest, I decided to wait a little longer. Maybe he was just caught up at work. But as time passed, my worry only grew.
At 10 PM, I was still sitting there, phone in hand. Every passing car outside made my heart leap, only for me to be disappointed when it wasn’t him.
By 11 PM, I finally heard it—the familiar honk of his car.
Relief flooded through me as I rushed to the entrance. He pulled into the driveway and stepped out, a warm smile on his face.
“Hi, babe! I got you flowers!” he said cheerfully, opening his arms to hug me.
For a moment, I was the happiest woman on earth. He was home. Whatever had caused his delay, I was sure he had a reasonable explanation.
I pouted playfully. “Where have you been? I’ve missed you.”
I stepped into his embrace, but the moment our bodies touched, something felt… off.
A strange scent clung to him—a perfume I didn’t recognize. A perfume scenting so feminine, so women like!
My heart clenched.
Had Tyler been with another woman?
Was this why he was late?
A sickening feeling settled in my stomach as doubt seeped into my mind.
Something wasn’t right.
Eunice’ POVI faked a smile at him, unwilling to let him know that I had detected a foreign perfume on him. My mind was still processing it, but there was no mistaking it. I was the one who always went to the mall to help Tyler choose a new cologne whenever he needed one. I knew the scent he always wore like the back of my hand. This wasn’t it. This scent on him now—it was definitely a woman’s. My heart clenched, sinking like a ship struck by torpedoes. The excitement I had carried moments ago, eager to share my news with Tyler, evaporated in an instant. We gently pulled away from the hug, and I collected his briefcase, helping him remove the long coat draped over his suit. This had always been my routine whenever he returned home. In the past, I would have done it with a bright smile, carrying his briefcase upstairs with lighthearted joy. But tonight, sadness weighed heavily on me. “Is that seared steak and roasted asparagus?!” he exclaimed, his excitement evident as he made hi
Eunice's POVI didn’t give Tyler the slightest thought that I was going to go to the company today. After all, it was our company, the one we both built from scratch. I also had the right to visit, didn’t I? After Tyler left for work, I walked downstairs and headed to Diana’s room, making sure I prepared her some breakfast and fed her before she’d take her medication.“I’m going to the grocery stall,” I told her..I slid into my car, drove out of the driveway, and headed straight to the company. The moment I arrived, I could feel that something had changed. The atmosphere at the company felt different.Six months ago, before I left to fully take care of Tyler’s mother, Sonya and Tasha were our receptionists. But now, I was seeing new faces—new faces Tyler never mentioned to me.Since they didn’t know me, I decided to act as if I were just a regular customer. I knew the CEO’s office was always upstairs, and Tyler would be coming downstairs soon. This was the usual practice—employees w
Eunice’s POVHearing this, a knot grew in my stomach. My fingers twitched, itching to raise my hand and slap her, the sound of it cracking through the air like a whip. But I only clenched my fist instead. A young bitch who knew nothing but how to snatch people’s husbands would not make me become someone I was not. I refused to stoop to her level.Taking a deep breath, I turned on my heel, ready to return home immediately. Tyler would come back home to meet me. To explain this nonsense I had just witnessed. But then, a second thought hit me. If I walked out of the salon just like that, this husband snatcher would think she had won. She would smirk, reveling in her false victory, and I could already picture her issuing a direct threat to the employees, forbidding them from ever letting me step foot in this building again.I couldn’t risk that. I had to assert my dominance as the real madam of this beautiful company.“Get out of my way,” I said, my voice sharp and commanding. With a swif
Eunice’s POVTyler reached for my hand the second time as we walked upstairs, but I didn’t hold on too tightly. The weight of our argument still lingered in my chest. I had told him I would believe his words when I saw action, and nothing had changed. We lay in bed together, but my mind kept replaying the moment I saw Lola smirking at me. Even when Tyler wrapped his arms around me, whispering soft reassurances, I couldn’t shake the doubt gnawing at my thoughts.Morning came quickly, the golden hues of the rising sun spilling into our room. I stretched beneath the sheets, glancing at Tyler, who was still asleep beside me. For a brief moment, I allowed myself to hope that today would be different—that I would wake up to proof of his loyalty, not just empty promises.I slid out of bed, pushing aside the warmth of his embrace. There were things I needed to take care of today—things that didn’t involve waiting around for Tyler to prove himself.I made my way to the kitchen, determined to
Eunice' POVEverything Tyler told me was a lie. Every damn thing! The scent that lingered on him, the way he called Lola names, the insistence that they weren’t together—it was all a lie.If not, how was Lola pregnant for him?!My heart pounded as I turned to Tyler, my voice rising. “What is she talking about, Tyler?!” I needed an answer, and I needed it now.Lola scoffed darkly, crossing her arms. “I’ll tell you exactly what’s happening.” Her gaze locked onto mine, irritation flickering in her eyes.“Tyler—your husband—impregnated me,” she announced smugly. “Since you couldn’t even give him a baby, I did. And now, he’s going to be a father, and I’m going to be a mother.”The words hit me like a slap. My breath hitched as I turned to Tyler, searching his face for denial, for any sign that this wasn’t true. “Tell me this isn’t true, Tyler! Tell me she’s lying!”But he didn’t.Instead, he stared at the floor, dumbfounded, as if the words he needed had abandoned him.I let out a bitter c
Eunice’s POV“There is another thing I need to tell you, dear,” my mother, Josie Morgan, sounded again after telling me she needed me to follow her back home so that I could take my rightful place as the heir of her company.I furrowed my brow at what she wanted to tell me because there was a way in the manner in which she told me this. First, she clutched my left with her left since she was already holding my right hand with her hand. She pressed it hard like she was trying to comfort me before she told me something very importantly sad.“What is it, Mum?!” I raised my voice as my heart began to race. What could she be wanting to tell me that was so hard to say to this extent? My mother was not the one admitted to the hospital, but she already had reddening eyes from the news she was about to break to me.“Is it Tyler? Do you want me to go back to him after all of this?” I began to guess what she wanted to say. But her eyes only got redder, and she shook her head.“No, dear,” she sa
Lola’s POVA lady who does not know how to act is a lady who is going to stay without a man forever. Or do I need to stress that there is no man out there anymore? They are all taken, and if you want a man, you just have to snatch him! And thankfully, I’ve successfully done that with Tyler.Tyler took me to the hospital after I pretended that something happened to me when he was advancing toward Eunice as she tripped.I had seen it happen—the way she lost her balance, the way her stomach collided with a stone about the size of one used to shock the tire of a brake-failure car in a remote area. I knew it would hurt. If it didn’t cause internal injuries, then she had better be prepared to nurse a nasty bruise for weeks. But the real question wasn’t why I didn’t let Tyler go to her when she cried out in pain. The real question was: what was a stone doing on a lawn?Eunice was a housewife who didn’t even know how to take care of her own home properly. I mean, why else was Tyler coming for
Eunice’ POVWe got to my mother’s beautiful mansion, and everything around here has changed. To have the perfect-looking home, the home needs renovation from time to time, and my mother has never been at fault at that. As I stepped out of the car and took in the surroundings, memories from years ago came flooding back. The last time I stepped foot in this home was the time I disobeyed my mom to be with Tyler, choosing to start living with him as husband and wife. But now, as I stepped through the door, the memory of that very day I brought him to see my mother clung to me again, refusing to fade away.I was blindfolded by love. I had judged my mother instantly because I felt that she didn’t give Tyler a chance. She just judged him as immediately as she saw him. At the time, I believed she was being unfair, but now, stepping through the front door and into the sitting room, everything felt different.Though the chairs in here were now different from the ones we had back then, my vision
Tyler’s POVI saw the way she froze at that question, as if she had been caught off guard about something bad she did and didn’t want anyone to find out. But she quickly masked it with a smile.“What do you mean by this nonsense question? Am I supposed to know why God made her skin a little bit darker than ours? Or do you want to imply that I cheated on you?” she defended harshly. The question hit me like a rock in the face. How could I have questioned the attribute our dear child has just because it was a little bit different from us?Everyone wanted to have a unique child. A child so unique and outstanding that it would bring her family to fame. With Jasmine’s type of blue eyes, when she grows older, we can register her in a modeling school. And from there, she could start representing her name—our name—her city, in fashion parades. And who knows, she might be declared as Queen Beauty of our country later in the future, right?I blinked my eyes as I swallowed my words. My mother had
Tyler’s POVI stepped into the hospital room. My mother, Diana, has been admitted here for a few days because her condition got worse.“Mr. Cooper. You should really pay attention to your mother’s diet. She is not eating well and she is not taking her medication at the right time,” said Doctor Joel the instant I stepped into the room.I let out a sigh, feeling the weight of his words press on my shoulders. It was a known fact that after Lola insisted she wouldn’t be doing any cooking or chores in the house, everything fell apart. Because of this, I hired a nanny for my mother and a chef to cook for all of us.But a few weeks later, the complaints started.“She is useless. Her food tastes like dirt!” Lola yelled.“She is terrible. She doesn’t take care of Mother good enough,” she nagged about the nanny too. And after more than a few weeks of unrest in the house, I just had to send the chef and the nanny away and hire new ones. But did the new ones do better in the eyes of the Almighty L
Eunice’s POVHave you ever seen a cat sneakily moving undetected to attack a prey? For instance, in the widespread living room of a home where the owner has a cat, the cat moves too silently to catch the erring mouse which just infiltrated their home? That was me.This was how I have stayed silent for two years. Two years I have been strategizing, planning, making silent moves on how I would take down Tyler and ruin the company I built for him—or better to say, for us.They say you should be a better person when someone has hurt you. You shouldn’t hurt them back and blah blah blah. But let the tides turn. You’d watch those who advised you to not hurt someone be the first to carry a gun, to hurt those who have messed with them. No one has the right to tell me how to react when I have been hurt. They should just pray the one I am coming for has all the heart to take the hit.Two years, I’ve been heading Maison Vivre, and within that period, I’ve created a new branch which does the very
Eunice’ POVAfter signing the stupid counterfeit document, I was in my room for two days straight up.I was staring at the walls, in the dark, just trying to clear my head. But it was not an easy thing to do.Being betrayed by someone you have only loved since you knew how to love was something that can mess you up for a long time. You’d heal, yes, but what makes you heal faster? Revenge or time?Annie knocked on my door each night, bringing in food for me to eat. But most of the time, I had no appetite for much food to eat.“Darling, please eat up. Only when you eat would you have the strength to resume work,” my mother also comforted over and over again. And with this, I was starting to eat more and more. Better.Three days and two nights after signing the God-forsaken document, I rose up from bed and stepped out of the room for the first time.I was much leaner, my face was sober. But then, it was time to heal, as I always said again and again:Like a bird, I would fly again.I ste
Tyler’s POVI opened the door to our room upstairs, and what I saw shocked me.Lola was staring into the TV screen, watching a porn movie. She was completely naked, fondling her breasts and fingering her private part by herself.I opened my eyes widely at the sight before me. Before I knew it, my third leg was already rising from watching Lola do this.Lola was a lady whose body physique was all about sexiness. She knew how to get me into the mood whenever she wanted to do that. This was also one of the primary reasons we fucked in the office like there was no tomorrow.Just as my thoughts caught up with the present, I noticed her little baby bump. At that moment, I remembered what the doctors usually said on TV: “When your partner is pregnant, it is most important to also have sex with them because this helps them during childbirth. If you neglect them, it becomes too tight, and easy delivery becomes a problem.”Quickly, I walked to her and sat next to her.She rubbed my chest with h
Tyler’s POVIt was almost like I didn’t hear her well when she gave me a blatant no. “Pardon?” I said, wanting her to repeat herself.Seeing my reaction, she touched her belly once more and her voice changed into something sounding like she was crying.“I am pregnant for you babe. How can a pregnant woman be doing such hard chores? Do you want me to lose my pregnancy? My baby, our baby.” She shed some tears and with this, I realised that I might be overreacting.I shouldn’t have asked her to help me clean my mother’s room, or cook for her so that she could use her medication.Feeling remorseful, immediately, instead of heading to work, I walked close to her, kissed her belly, “I will handle it.” I said to her,She smiled at me now, wiping her tears. Then she kissed me on my forehead. “Make me some breakfast too babe.” She sounded.“My baby needs it. Our baby needs it.”With no choice but to comply, it has been a while since I cooked anything. Eunice has always made sure that my stomac
Eunice’s POV“Please sign here, here and here,” said Attorney Evelyn Hart, our business lawyer, as she pointed to three places on the document she brought home for us.I sat in our luxurious living room. My mum was seated with me and just adjacent to us was Attorney Evelyn. It was time to take over my mother’s company, Maison Vivre. A group of companies dealing with high fashion and styles, having our branches in many countries of the world.Yet, the President of the group of companies, who was my mum Josie, had refused to broadcast herself to the world. In all of the years she was the president of the company, she kept her identity secretive. And in this manner, I wanted to be too, as I emerged as the new president of this company and my mother retired.Without wasting much time, I signed right on the spaces Attorney Evelyn instructed me to sign.“It’s done,” she sounded.“Congratulations on your new position as the president of Maison Vivre, ma’am.” She bowed to me and then bowed to
Tyler’s POVMy heart pounded as if someone was beating a drum in my head. This thing Eunice arrived at was so demanding. Everything I’ve laboured for—I mean, everything we have laboured for—she wanted it for herself alone just because I cheated?I walked briskly to the living room. Lola’s eyes were fixed on me, but I couldn’t tell her anything.I knew Lola was with me because of all she thinks I have. But I am with her because of the child Eunice couldn’t give me. So, to me, it was a win-win situation. But then, telling her stuff like this would make her panic. She might retrace her steps immediately and leave me, leaving me with no chances of being a father. So, I kept mute.“What is the matter, babe?” she kept asking me.“Nothing,” I said, feigning a smile at her each time. Later on, I walked slowly to the room upstairs. But in my mind, I was racing—I was running from her so she could stop asking me and I could have some perfect time to think.Eunice must not take everything from me
Tyler’s POVI wiped my finger on my head. I was sweating profusely even when the air conditioning was on. I understand that we were in the summer period. But the air conditioning was on and I was still sweating this way?The cleaning was a huge task. I wondered how Eunice was able to do this every day and never complained. After what felt like hours, I walked out tirelessly after I was done. While I was in the room cleaning, my mum, Diana, just kept on looking at me and shaking her head. She said nothing to me and I said nothing to her too. She eyed me badly when I turned my face away, ignoring her as if I didn’t see her. Then, I walked to the living room and I saw that the hired men were done moving Lola’s goods inside. She was in the living room, lying on the sofa comfortably like she had been married to me for the longest time. The TV remote was in her hand. She was watching a movie and another bottle of wine was opened near an empty one she had drunk before.“You are done babe?” s
