CHAPTER 9

Venus started to rise in the carriage with Queen Petunia. The Queen Mother sat on a heavily cushioned seat with multiple plush throw pillows behind her. Her dragon wings spread apart slightly and lay out by her sides. Venus eyeballed them for a moment and then looked away. It was rude to stare.

After several minutes, the carriage began to move. Venus peeked her head out of the carriage window and gave one final wave to her family and her old handmaidens. Her father, stepmother, and maids waved farewell.

After a minute, Venus leaned back in the carriage and looked at Queen Petunia.

The Queen smiled at her. "Have you ever traveled away from the south side of the Salazar Kingdom?" she asked.

Venus shook her head. "No, Your Majesty. I've only ever been here and The Temple of Lilith," she explained.

"Do you still intend to practice your Saintess duties when arriving at the castle?" Queen Pentunia asked.

"If my husband will allow it...." Venus said nervously. it was the on
