Bas POV

I shouldn’t be here, not now. I couldn’t afford to see her. After many years apart, I still longed for her, and that’s why I found myself in the bar. If I could only get a glimpse of her then, I’ll leave.

I walked into the bar, the loud music filling the room with a throbbing beat. People were chattering, dancing, and drinking, creating a clamor of sound that seemed to fade into the background as I scanned the room. My eyes searched for her and only her.

As always, she looked breath taking. I clenched my hands, trying my best not to walk over to where she sat and embrace her.

And there she was, sitting alone at the bar.

As always, she looked breathtaking. Her brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail with two strands that fell to her face, framing it perfectly. Her eyes were focused on the drink she held, lost in thought. I wanted to walk over to where she was, pull her into a hug, and tell her how much I missed her, but I knew I couldn’t. I clenched my hands tightly, feeling

Becca POV"Bas," I whispered, my eyes widening with shock as I took him in. Although I knew deep down he was around, seeing him here still felt surreal."What the hell do you think you're doing?" "Get out," he commanded, his voice icy and firm.Joe didn't need to be told twice. He scrambled away, leaving just me and Bas standing amidst the silent graves. With a sigh, Bas turned to look at me. "You should leave," he said, his tone softer but still distant.I stood there in silence, staring at him. After four years apart, he looked as handsome as ever. His hair had grown a little longer, and he now sported a subtle stubble. He appeared more buff, his physique more defined than before. My eyes traced the lines of his body before returning to his face, meeting his gaze."That's all?" I asked, my voice trembling

Bas POVDays had passed since my last conversation with Becca, but all I could think about was the hurt in her eyes. I had wanted to stay away, but the moment I sensed she was in danger, I had to step in. I had been gone for four years, and those years felt like torture without her. Some days were bearable, while others were so difficult that I had to find her, even if only to see her from afar.I missed her so badly that it took everything in me not to hug her. What held me back were her mother's words. With a sigh, I looked away and saw Aubrey approaching. Her eyes were filled with worry as she took a step closer."Are you okay?" she asked gently. "You've been like this ever since the graveyard.""I'm fine," I said, though my voice lacked conviction. She stepped closer until she was just inches from me, her hands slowly running down my bicep as she gazed into my eyes. "Bas, do you remember what I told you the day you saved my life?" she asked softly. The memories of our first encoun

Finally, we looked away from each other.I turned my attention to Darius, giving him a warm smile."She's been amazing," Darius said to Bas. "While you were away, Becca has been here, helping the pack."Bas's expression softened slightly, though he remained silent. I could see the conflict in his eyes. It was clear he was struggling with something. How long do you plan on hiding it."Thank you," I said, my eyes lingering on Bas, searching for any hint of warmth. He looked away, s

But now, as she moved closer, I found myself unable to think clearly.I thought I was strong enough to finally be in a room alone with her, but here I was, fighting every urge not to pull her into my arms. I asked, looking around the empty kitchen."He stepped out," Aubery replied as she busied herself at the stove, fixing something for me to eat. The room fell into a comfortable silence as I ate, the clinking of cutlery against the plate the only sound. Bas POVDarius glared at me, his eyes filled with rage as he struggled to get up. The poison had spread, rendering him completely weak, almost human. "The poison won't kill you," I said, my voice steady. "It's just going to make you forever weak. This is your punishment for all the sins you've committed."I turned to leave but stopped in my tracks. No matter how monstrous he was, he was still my father, and I couldn't bring myself to kill him. "Get out of here and never come back. I'll tell the pack I flung your body deep in the sea."This was my last act of kindness, not for the defeated Alpha, but for my father.Suddenly, Darius burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the forest. I turned to look at him. "Oh, as always, you're so weak, boy," he said, managing to get up and resting against a tree. "Do you really think I'll just remain quiet and watch as you jeopardize everything I've worked for? I'll come for you."I turned away, not wanting to see him in this state. He was al

Each tear felt like a dagger to my heart."Promise me... you'll come back," she pleaded, her voice breaking."I promise," I said, wrapping my arms around her.
