LOVETH'S POV
"You...what?...How?...Why?" The questions stuck in my throat, twisted and tangled, refusing to form.
He yanked me up by my arms, snapping metal cuffs around my wrists. His grip was unyielding, dragging me forward, every step scraping my feet against the rough floor. My heart hammered. I don't really know what Kyle was doing here. And it's not as if I had any business with him. I have only seen him along with some inspectors whenever they pay a visit to the palace. So what was he doing to me?.
Through the murky shadows, the only thing I could make out were rows of silver bars.
"Where are you taking me?" I screamed, my voice cracking as tears traced down my cheeks. But he ignored me, his face a mask of indifference as he led me up a rickety staircase.
He pushed open a narrow hatch above us, revealing an opulent house bathed in light, its grandeur stark against the darkness we'd come from.
Without hesitation, he dragged me up another flight of stairs and shoved open a door. Inside, the room fell silent as we entered. | stumbled forward, collapsing onto my hands and knees.
I could feel the weight of countless stares, cold and assessing. Fear clenched my stomach, but I kept my gaze lowered, refusing to look up.
"Look at me." A voice, commanding and edged with authority, cut through the silence.
The force behind the words nearly compelled me to obey, but I resisted, squeezing my eyes shut. I was terrified of what I might see. This was all wrong. This couldn't be real. Kyle wasn't... he couldn't be-
"I said, look at me. Now!" His voice was a snap, cold as steel, and my head lifted instinctively, my eyes meeting his.
His gaze burned into mine, intense and unforgiving. He was devastatingly handsome, his dark eyes like shadows, his hair a cascade of night that fell past his shoulders. His lips were full, almnost alluring, but his expression held nothing but contempt.
"Who...who are you people, and why am I here?" I managed, my voice a whisper.
A low growl sounded behind me, and I spun around. In the dim light, I saw it-a massive wolf, jaws parted, saliva glistening on razor-sharp teeth. My stomach lurched. The beast's fangs could rip through me in seconds.
I tried to back away, but a hard boot pressed into my spine, forcing me flat. The wolf prowled closer, its growl rumbling through the floor beneath me. I was certain this was the end, waiting for its teeth to sink into my flesh. But then.. nothing.
Slowly, I opened my eyes. The wolf was convulsing, shuddering as though fighting itself. And then, before my very eyes, It morphed-its body twisted and reshaped, fur retracting, bones cracking, until it stood as a man. A huge, towering man, naked and glaring, with muscles rippling under his skin.
No. I blinked, disbelieving. This was a nightmare. Wolves existed, but werewolves... Lycans... none of that was real. They had to be playing tricks on my mind, drugging me, something.
"One wrong move, and he'll tear you to pieces" the dark-haired man warned, his voice dangerously close to my ear.
I didn't dare look at him, afraid of provoking the wolf-man in front of me.
"But I haven't done anything wrong. Please, just let me go," I choked out, my voice laced with desperation.
"Let you go?" he scoffed, stepping closer.
"After everything you've done? The pain you've caused me? And you want me to let you go?"
"But, I haven't done anything!" I shot back, voice quivering, barely daring to glance at the monstrous figure.
"I don't even know who you are!"
"Don't lie to me!" His words lashed at me, and I shrank back, trembling.
"hing" I pleaded,
"I swear..l know nothing"I pleaded, voice cracking.
"Where is your accomplice?" he demanded.
"Accomplice? I don't understand. Who-"
His eyes hardened.
"The more you lie, the more l want to tear your heart out of your chest. Where's the rest of her body?"
"Body?" I echoed, horrified.
"My sister's body." His voice was barely human.
"You murdered her, and then you had the nerve to send me a piece of her body."
My breath caught.
"I don't know what you're talking about" I managed, but I could see he didn't believe me. There was no reasoning with him; he was beyond rationality, burning with a rage that bordered on madness.
He let out a snarl.
"Should I beat it out of you?" he growled, stepping soclose I could feel the heat radiating off him.
"Just talk already" another man snapped from the shadows, his voice dripping with impatience.
I fell silent, knowing nothing I said would make a difference. He'd already decided I was guilty, and in his anger, nothing would sway him.
"Then we'll do this the hard way."
His hand shot out, grabbing a fistful of my hair. I cried out as he pulled me roughly, dragging me through the doorway.
I barely managed to stumble along as he yanked me forward, my forehead grazing the walls as he dragged me down flight after flight of stairs.
I could feel blood trickling down my temple, but he didn't stop until he reached a dark room, thrusting me inside and locking the door.
I screamed, pounding against the door until my voice broke and my fists ached, my energy slowly dwindling until I slumped to the floor, sobbing.
Would anyone even know I was gone? Did Mom or Tyra realize what had happened? I should have left a note-something to hint at where l'd gone. Now, I could only hope someone would find me.
Suddenly, a blinding light cut through the darkness. Footsteps echoed from somewhere behind me, slow and heavy.
I squinted as a figure loomed into view-a massive man with a dark scowl, his face scarred, a whip coiled in his hand.
My heart raced at the mere sight of this. Am I about to get whipped?.
I was still focused on the figure in front of me, when out of the blue, chains rattled nearby, and a second man emerged from the shadows, his face as cold as the others.
The door creaked open, flooding the room with more light, and I could see the man who'd dragged me here standing at the entrance, his gaze impassive, almost bored.
"Things are about to get really terrible for you, pretty face" he said, his voice dripping with malice.
My heart hammered in my chest as I pressed myself against the wall, dread settling over me like a shroud. In the darkness, surrounded by monsters, I was truly alone.
LOVETH'S POVI bolted for the door, but he was faster. Before I could reach it, his hands closed around me, yanking me back toward the center of the room with an iron grip."You made her suffer" he said, circling me with cold fury.A loud clang echoed as a chain dropped from the ceiling. Panic flooded my veins, but when I tried to pull free, he slapped me across the face with a vicious precision that sent me to the floor, stinging pain radiating from my cheek. I could already feel a bruise forming. He hauled me up roughly, clamped the cuffs onto the chain, and raised me until my toes barely scraped the ground."I'm giving you a chance to talk. Tell me where her body is, and this ends now." His voice was sharp, deadly."I don't know" I choked out, my voice breaking as the tears fell. But my words seemed to mean nothing. I didn't even know who this woman was, let alone what had happened to her. Yet his face remained impassive, as if my suffering was some necessary ritual."You won't en
SANDRINO’S POVI brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, my fingers trembling against my will. She was breathtaking—fragile yet alluring in a way I couldn’t quite articulate. Her scent was intoxicating, igniting something primal deep within me. My wolf stirred, restless, urging me to shift and claim her, but I fought it. I always had control. Always. The door creaked open, breaking the spell. I pulled away sharply as Nathan entered, his usual unreadable expression in place. He glanced at her battered form with clinical detachment, which I appreciated. I wasn’t in the mood for his unsolicited commentary.“Her pulse is weak,” he said flatly. “And she’s pale. Too pale.”A growl rumbled in my throat. “Then fix it. That’s why I called for you.”Nathan’s gaze didn’t waver. “There’s not much I can do. The injuries are severe. She’s lost too much blood. If I’m being honest, Alpha, she might not make it through the night.”His words hit me like a blow, but I masked my reaction with fury. “D
Loveth’s POVA low groan escaped my lips as I stirred, my body heavy with exhaustion. Stretching my limbs, I expected the soft comfort of a bed beneath me, but my hand scraped against a rough, unyielding stone. My eyes flew open. I was back in the cell, my reality stark and unforgiving. The faint, soothing sound of a song reached my ears. I turned my head to see the girl in the corner, her voice hauntingly beautiful as it echoed off the cold walls. For a moment, I wondered if everything I had experienced—the whipping, the bandages, the fleeting comfort of a bed—had been a cruel dream. But no, I remembered too much. Every lash, every moment of terror, was etched vividly in my mind. My imagination wasn’t that cruel.I wondered how many days I have spent here. Three? No, it felt like forever. What was Kelilah doing and would she be able to find me? Were they even searching for me? Do they even know that I have been abducted, instead of the assumption of running away?I forced myself to s

His eyes burned with such hatred that I wished I could vanish, dissolve into nothingness, and escape his wrath. But wishes were futile here, and the terror in his voice pinned me in place."Are you ready to talk now?" His tone was devoid of any warmth, a frozen blade slicing through the air."I..." My voice cracked, barely a whisper, betraying the turmoil inside me.I wanted to plead my case, to find the words that might shield me, but his stare was suffocating. His presence loomed large as he rose from his chair, and instinctively, I stepped back, colliding with the quard stationed behind me. The guard’s grip tightened painfully on my arm, and I gasped, wincing. The alpha growled-a low, menacing Sound that sent a chill through the room. The guard's hand immediately released me as if burned. Was the growl meant for me or the guard? I couldn't be sure, but it didn't m
*KELILAH'S POV* I had just gotten back from work, and now I lay on my bed, completely drained. Today had been one of the most exhausting days I could remember. Every inch of my body ached, and my mind was clouded with fatigue. My identical twin sister, Loveth, wasn’t home yet, leaving me alone in the quiet house. Our parents, as always, were the last to come home, and I was starving. Cooking was out of the question though—I had no idea how to cook, and frankly, I had no interest in learning. "Kelilah ?" A voice, accompanied by a knock on my door, jolted me slightly. I must’ve been close to drifting off to sleep because I hadn’t even noticed when my parents came home. With my legs barely cooperating, I staggered to the door, my eyes still half-closed. I turned the knob, letting the door swing open, but no one was there. "Mom? Dad?" I called out, my voice barely above a whisper as my grogginess quickly faded. The eerie silence that greeted me was unsettling. It was never thi
**KELILAH'S POV** The rest of the night passed in a tense, suffocating silence, but the morning was even worse. For as long as I could remember, our family had never been selected for this cursed ritual. But today... today, I feared we wouldn’t be so fortunate.Loveth barely spoke a word, her lips tightly pressed together as she toyed with the hem of her dress. Mother, toowas uncharacteristically silent, nervously chewing on her fingers—a habit she never indulged unless things were truly bad. Father seemed calm, but his eyes betrayed the worry that lay beneath his composed exterior. As for Tyra, she appeared indifferent, her focus elsewhere, though I knew she cared deeply. She just couldn’t express it in the same way.I took a quick shower, trying to wash away the growing anxiety, before slipping into the red dress Loveth had given me. By the time I joined the others in the living room, the sun was already high in the sky. Late again, a habit I couldn’t seem to shake. Normally, Fath
**KELILAH'S POV**The room buzzed with a tension so thick, it felt like we were all drowning in it. Nathan and his assistant had retreated to the corner, whispering in hushed tones. Their eyes drifted over us like vultures circling their prey, and with each glance in our direction, I felt my chest tighten. The dread simmering inside me was unbearable, and yet, I had no choice but to wait for the inevitable. When Nathan and his assistant finally made their way back to the podium, the hall fell silent. The air seemed to crackle with anticipation. Nathan's expression was strained, and his voice cracked as he spoke."Believe me when I say this is not easy," Nathan began, taking a deep breath. "It hurts all of us, but it's necessary. This is the only way we can fulfill the ancient agreement."I felt a lump in my throat. Everyone knew about the agreement, but we had always hoped it would never come to this—hoped that, somehow, the king would change his mind. But here we were.Nathan's voice
*KELILAH'S POV*“No. That is impossible! No one is going to separate Loveth and me!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the hall.“Enough, Kelilah!” my father thundered, his voice rough with frustration. Even though I wanted to yell back, I bit my tongue and remained silent. Defiance flashed in my eyes, but I knew better than to push any further right now.“Your mother and I have made our decision. Loveth, you will be the one going,” he declared, his words as cold and final as a tombstone. My heart dropped like a stone into the pit of my stomach. My eyes widened, terror and disbelief flooding through me. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, as the walls seemed to close in around me. I turned to Loveth, my sister, my other half, and saw the same shock mirrored in her tear-filled eyes. “No!” Loveth shrieked, her voice cracking under the weight of her grief. She leapt to her feet, her body trembling with anguish. “I’m not going, Dad!” she sobbed, her voice barely holding together. LOVETH'S POVI was terrified to make a sound, so I remained silent, listening intently until the footsteps faded. Only then did I let out a small, shaky breath. The ceiling above me started to tremble, and the light bulb hanging from it began to swing violently, casting erratic shadows across the cell. A loud crash of metal reverberated through the room, followed by a woman's bone-chilling scream, slicing through the silence and filling me with dread. Then came the sound of laughter—deep, twisted, and dripping with sadism. The relentless noise frayed my nerves until I couldn’t bear it any longer. In frustration, I rose to my feet and began shouting."Let me out!" I yelled, rattling the bars with all my strength, but they were solid, unyielding."Don't waste your energy," came a voice from behind me, calm and unsettling.I whipped around, my gaze falling on a girl crouched in the corner. KELILAH'S POV I groaned, my head pounding as I slowly opened my eyes. I was lying on a familiar couch, the soft glow of early morning sunlight filtering through the curtains. Blinking to clear the fog from my vision, I realized I was back in Tyra’s house. Confusion filled me, but before I could gather my thoughts, I saw Tyra standing nearby, my face tight with worry.“How are you feeling?” Tyra asked softly, stepping closer.I forced myself to sit up, my body still heavy and sore. “What... what happened?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.Tyra took a deep breath, her gaze steady but laced with concern. “I’m sorry, Kelilah. I had to knock you out. It was the only way I could get you out of there safely.”My eyes widened. “Why? What were you even doing there?”Tyra sat beside me, her expression growing serious. “On my way back home, I saw a group of men. They had your picture in hand, Kelilah. I overheard them talking about abducting you, and I tried calling, but your line wasn’t
Kelilah’s POVDays had slipped through my fingers, and my vow to locate Loveth remained a haunting failure. With each passing sunrise, the reality of my predicament pressed down on me: only a few weeks remained before the kingdom of Bazil would come to claim their bride. And Loveth was still missing. The gnawing fear that I’d be forced into the marriage as her replacement settled heavily on me.Now I understood why I was always the "spare."The weight of this arranged marriage bore down on me like a boulder, unrelenting and cold. I needed an escape plan—something, anything, to release me from this fate. Tyra came to mind. She’d always been my fiercest ally, and if anyone could help me devise a way out, it would be her.I met her that evening, spilling my thoughts as she listened. But before I could fully explain, my phone buzzed insistently in my bag. I glanced down and saw Jackson’s name glaring back at me.“It’s Jackson,” I murmured, half to myself.Tyra rolled her eyes, her express
KELILAH'S POV“You’re speaking nonsense, Mom. Loveth would never do that,” I said, shaking my head as disbelief settled in.“I’m serious, Kelilah. She even left a note,” Mom replied, pointing to a small slip of paper on the bed. Despite her insistence, I refused to look at it. Loveth wouldn’t just vanish like that. If she were planning something, she would have told me. I had even brought up the idea last night, but she hadn’t seemed interested. So why would she suddenly go through with it?“No!” I cried, rushing out of the house with my phone in hand, dialing her number repeatedly. Each attempt met the same response—her phone wasn’t connecting. Frustration overwhelmed me as I stood outside her office building, hoping that in any second she’d appear. Hours slipped by, and the silence of my long wait grew heavy. Desperation took over, and I started calling her friends, voice shaky as I choked back tears. I was already a weeping mess."Hello. Tyra, how are you doing" I asked as I wipe
