Maliyah
I sit up startled with sweat dripping down my forehead. I place my hand over my rapid beating heart and take deep breathes. It was just a dream and yet it felt so real that I wonder if it was a vision rather than just a dream. In my dream I was attacked in my room with Olivia and Oliver completely unaware what was happening. Thankfully, my attacker didn’t seem very strong and I easily fought him off but it still leaves me on edge.
I turn on my lamp and rub my eyes. My alarm clock says three in the morning, making me groan. I get out of bed and grab a glass of water, chugging it before heading back to bed.
‘Terra did that seem too real to you?’
‘It did and even if it was a vision we have no way of knowing when it’ll happen. It could be five days from now or even five seconds from now.’
I cuddle back up in my blankets as I feel the tug of someone trying to mi
MaliyahThese last few weeks go by in a blur. Aspen told me about his warlock theory so I dropped the charges against Evan. A part of me hopes he is right, but another part of me hopes he is wrong. Things have been peaceful since the end of the war.Aspen has gone back to his realm. His father has been keeping him busy with slowly taking over some tasks. King Bjarki plans to retire soon. I wake up before my alarm so I decide to shower since I know I won’t be going back to sleep.I finish rather quickly and look at my watch, realizing I have over an hour to kill before needing to head to school. I mind link Sarah to put an order in for the twins and I. She is one of the few wolves working here while she attends college just down the road. The twins are still getting ready so I decide to head
MaliyahThe next day the twins and I decide to do some homework while we eat breakfast so we don’t have too much to do before Monday. I quickly get ready, deciding to dress in my favorite navy blue sweater dress with black leggings and knee high boots.“You ready Maliyah,” yells Oliver from the living room.“Coming!”I grab my keys and head out the door.“Damn girl, that color looks amazing on you. It makes that gorgeous hair of yours pop,” says Oliver.“Thanks, I think this is the color dress I want to get with a mask the same color with silver accents on it.”“That would be so hot,” says Olivia.I drive the twenty minutes it takes to get to the mall. We head straight for the seamstress that is run by a wolf in my pac
Luca‘Why don’t we just kill her already,’ Brandon mind linksI sometimes despise that I left with Brandon and his mother, Breanna. Brandon’s father is Derek’s uncle’s son, Thomas Brooks. Breanna has done nothing but shove ideas of revenge onto Brandon since he could walk and it’s all he’s ever thought about.‘Be patient Brandon. I have plans for her first.’I love that I have been able to mask our scent with the spell I’ve learned, but I can tell that Maliyah is more special than I originally thought. I watch as she sniffs the air, I can tell she knows something is off. I wanted to be the one to come to her rescue and fix her car, especially since I’m the one who spelled it, but she teleports instead.‘Well so much for that plan,’ says Brandon.I smack him upside the head and let out a growl.‘Ouc
MaliyahAfter my dance with Luca, he kisses my hand before returning to his DJ table. I am so confused by my feelings right now. I wander around ensuring all is going well and that the punch bowl hasn’t been spiked. I look around the room and realize my parents are not here either. I try to mind link them but they have a wall up so I assume they must be pretty busy to miss the dance.I tried mind linking Aspen several times as well, but I get nothing as if he is asleep. I swear if he slept through this I’ll kick his ass. He promised he’d be here and he’s never broken a promise. I push those thoughts to the back of my mind as midnight is closing in and one of our teachers grabs the microphone to announce the homecoming queen and king.“What’s wrong Maliyah? Where’s Aspen,” asks Olivia as she is fanning herself.&
AspenI wake with a groan trying to decipher what had happened last night. When I open my eyes I realize I am still home meaning I never made it to the dance last night. I sit up too fast and clutch my stomach in pain. “Easy there Prince Aspen,” says our doctor, Lily.“What happened?”“You don’t remember?”“No, I do not. I remember working late and then decided to take a walk in my mother’s garden. After that nothing. Where is Maliyah, I need to see her.”“First things first, let me check that wound of yours. I may have great healing abilities but you were struck with an arrow laced with poison. You are lucky to be alive.”“I’m fine, I need to get to Maliyah. If they attacked me they must be after her.”“Prince Aspen, there is something you should know.”“What?”“Maliyah is in critical condition in the hospital. She has yet to wake up.”At those words I teleport to the Palmetto pack house without letting Lily check my bandages. I’ll have Dr. Smith check mine. “Derek, what happened?”
Maliyah I was in the hospital for three days before they finally released me. Thankfully Terra was able to heal me and I feel good as new except she has exhausted herself and won’t be able to shift for a while. I am not sure how long that is, but it has made Aspen extremely paranoid. He hasn’t left my side all week, including coming to school and my cheer practices. However, this morning he had a meeting back home so I finally get a chance to breathe a bit. The twins and I dress in our cheer uniforms and prepare to head down stairs when we are stopped by a bouquet of black dahlias at the front door. “Why would Aspen send you black dahlias,” asks Olivia. “Yeah, aren’t they like a symbol of betrayal,” says Oliver. “Umm…I’m not sure. Maybe he doesn’t know what they mean and just thinks they’re pretty?” I set the flowers on the table after tos
Maliyah“Hey dad,” I say with a smile as I enter the room.“Shut the door,” he says making me worry just how much trouble I am inAs soon as I shut the door he smiles wide.“The room is sound proof, but it had to seem like you were in trouble.”“You had me a bit worried there for a second, I did not throw a single punch.”“I know you didn’t and I am proud of you for holding back like you did.”“I hear a ‘but’ coming.”“Your mother isn’t too happy the girl got hurt, even if she did it to herself.”“I cannot be responsible for other’s actions. She could trip tomorrow and it wouldn’t be my fault.”“That’s true. Your mother is just worried because we promised the humans on the council that their kids would be safe with the shift
MaliyahI am sure our side of the stands are louder than our opponents. We are winning twenty to twelve. We try to yell louder the crowd so we can be heard, but I am not sure that is possible.“G-O! Let’s go wolves! G-O! Let’s go!”The whistle blows indicating it’s half time. We cheer the boys as they head to the locker room while we make our way to center field. we drop our pom poms and stand in position. The music begins blaring over the speakers and we begin dancing.Girls are thrown into the air and land safely in the base’s arms. I smile as I see Aspen in the crowd as I do a double back hand spring. The sound of the music fades out as we pose from our last move. The crowd cheers as we make our way to the sideline. The twins and I head to grab some snacks.“Amazing performance,” says Aspen as he wraps his arms around me.“I’m so g
