Melody fell on the floor because her knees suddenly felt weak. With slow motions, she brought her hand to her face and examined her bloodied hand.
It happened so fast, Melody had just set foot in a place that Mark called the headquarters when someone was shot and his blood sprayed on Melody's body. How could Melody not be surprised? This was the first time she saw someone being shot dead right in front of her.
"What's wrong?" asked Mark who was standing right beside Melody.
Mark looked at one of his men who was still holding a gun.
"That idiot was almost caught by the police! They're not the cops we know, so that makes me nervous!" cried the man while putting the gun back under his jacket.
Melody, who was still sitting on the floor, tried to glance at the man she believed was dead. How can they be so vicious? How could they easily kill someone?
"Hey, don't you want to stand up?" Mark asked Melody.
Now Melody turned her attention to Mark who was looking at her too.
"I want to, but my legs are as weak as jelly now, can you help me?" asked Melody innocently.
Mark smiled amusedly, then stretched out his hand and helped Melody up.
"Get used to it, this is my world. From now on, you will see more blood and corpses," Mark said casually.
Melody didn't answer, the girl's eyes were still glued to the corpse that was still lying not far from her place. She then turned to the man who was the shooter.
"He's already killed someone, how can he be so calm?" muttered Melody.
Too bad, the girl's muttering could still be heard by Mark.
"That's his job. If he doesn't do it, I will do it," said Mark casually.
Melody turned quickly to Mark and looked deep into the man's beady eyes.
"You can kill someone?" asked Melody with wide eyes in disbelief.
"Are you kidding me? You could say I'm a killing machine!"
Melody's knees felt weak again when she heard Mark's answer. Luckily, Mark held the girl's body before Melody fell to the floor.
"Don't worry, I didn't kill women and children!" added Mark with a meaningful smile.
Seeing that there was no movement at all from Melody, Mark chuckled softly, he then lifted Melody's body and took her to a room that was much tidier and quieter than the previous place. Mark put Melody's body on the sofa in the room.
How could Melody forget? Mark is a mafia boss, it's not difficult for the guy to shoot the gun.
"What's wrong with your expression?" Mark squinted at Melody confused.
"Your life must be very hard, how can you stand it?" asked Melody with teary eyes.
"What?"
"How can you deal with all this crazy stuff? Blood, corpses, gunshots, and more," said Melody innocently.
Mark smiled sadly.
At first, it was hard for Mark to get used to it. While his father was still alive, his father freed Mark to live the life he wanted. College, hanging out with his friends, going to the mall, and dating, but all that changed when his father died. There were so many people he had to protect. Family, and the people under his father's protection. Mark is forced into the cruel world of the mafia.
And also... Mark suspects that his father's death was not an accident. So he wanted to investigate everything.
"It's very hard, I turned into a temperamental man because of that. It's hard for me to control my emotions. That's why I need you," Mark said while sitting beside Melody.
"You need me to control your emotions? Why me?" asked Melody, looking straight at the man.
Mark brought his face closer to Melody's, looking deep into the girl's beady eyes.
"Your beautiful eyes make me feel calm and comfortable," Mark said in a deep voice.
Melody now understood. Hearing someone compliment her eyes was nothing new to her.
"Mark, could you step back? You're making me nervous," Melody asked.
Instead of retreating, Mark even closer to his face. Melody, who was starting to feel agitated, looked very cute in Mark's eyes. Mark has been struggling with the mafia world which is so chaotic for too long. Seeing Melody, who is innocent, beautiful, and adorable, of course, was a special entertainment for Mark.
"It's a shame your chest is small, otherwise, you can sleep with me tonight," Mark tried to tease Melody.
Hearing the man's words, Melody immediately panicked, her face reddened, and she backed away from Mark.
"You are my slave, I can ask you to do whatever I want including satisfying me in bed!" emphasized Mark.
"But my chest is small!" exclaimed Melody quickly.
"Hum yes, you're right," Mark said and straightened his body.
"Mark, several police cars are entering the border!" exclaimed Ben. No one knows how long he had been in the room.
Mark turned to Ben and took a deep breath. He's had a hard and very tiring day, can't he rest for a while?
"What do you think we should do? Bribe them, or finish them off?" asked Mark casually.
Hearing Mark's words, Melody shuddered.
Will Mark kill the cops?
"We spent a lot of money opening a casino out of town a few days ago, so . . . better to keep costs down," Ben said quickly.
Melody panicked even more when she heard the answer from the man who was always with Mark.
"Then finish them off. Get Brian's group to deal with it," Mark ordered as he leaned back on the couch.
"I sent Brian and his group to deal with drug smuggling last night, and they haven't come back." Ben took a deep breath.
"So?" asked Mark annoyed.
"Looks like we'll have to take care of it ourselves this time. There are quite a few of them, it will take some time to deal with them. So, it will be much quicker if we take care of it on our own!"
"Damn it!" grumbled Mark as he stood up.
As Mark stepped out of the room, he then stopped and turned to glare at Melody in annoyance.
"Why are you just hanging there?" asked Mark annoyed.
"I can't shoot, so I'll just wait here," Melody said scared.
Mark didn't say anything and just stared at Melody with a sharp gaze. And Melody knew what that man's gaze meant. As Mark had said before, Melody had to go wherever he went.
Melody stood up and ran after Mark before the man got angry.
"Should I teach you how to shoot?" asked Mark as they walked hand in hand following Ben.
"No!" shrieked Melody quickly.
"Why?"
"Because it means I have to shoot someone when I can. And I don't want to be a killer!"
Melody held her head which still felt heavy. She didn't know how long she had been vomiting like that since the last time she accompanied Mark to kill his enemy. The fishy smell of blood and the corpses lying irregularly on the floor made her head dizzy and her stomach sick. Melody's body was completely limp now.Mark and Ben finished off all the cops, then burned them to ashes and scattered the ashes in the sea. Melody saw all of that with her own eyes, how cruel and heartless Mark and Ben were.In Melody's eyes, Mark and Ben weren't human. What kind of human could do that without feeling the slightest bit of guilt?"Can you stop throwing up? My head is spinning from hearing your voice in the toilet!" Mark snapped as soon as Melody returned to the man's room. The toilet is not soundproof, so Mark can hear every time Melody vomits."Sorry, I'm not used to seeing and smelling blood, it makes me sick," Melody said quietly."I asked you to move to another place, a place that is better, m

Damn it, I'm busy, go!" growled Mark."Hey, don't snap like that, you got to this position because of me, be nice!" exclaimed the man as he walked arrogantly towa
Melody had just gotten into the car when a gunshot sounded so hard that it hit the car they were in. Ben, who looked annoyed, immediately took his gun and got ready to leave.Mark, who was sitting beside Melody, only took a deep breath as he looked back. When Melody followed Mark's line of sight, she froze when she saw a small crack in the windshield of the car they were in."Relax; this car is bulletproof, so you're safe here," Mark said casually.Melody still had her eyes wide open when she saw Ben having a shootout with a group of people outside. They had just stepped out of the Mark family's main house when this incident occurred. Is mafia life really like this? They should continue to fight whenever the need arises. Life was not something they could respect; why could it be so easy to kill someone? Melody really couldn't believe this."You experience this every day?" Melody spoke slowly to Mark, who was currently busy with the cell phone in his hand."Yeah, it's nothing." Mark th
"There's one of our bases not far from here, would you like to stop by?" Ben asked quietly. Mark, who was leaning back while closing his eyes, sighed heavily for the umpteenth time today. Leading a group that was on the verge of being destroyed is no easy feat. Mark is the only child of the leader of the Black Eagle mafia group. His father, who died tragically due to an accident, made him inevitably take over his father's position, and become the leader of the Black Eagle group. Too much to take care of. Even though Mark had tried to solve their group's problems one by one, the problems kept coming and made his head hurt. It was this very heavy burden that made him turn into a temperamental man. Mark felt like he could explode anytime he was touched, because of that, everyone was afraid of him. Everyone except Ben. Ben is a crazy man who is very used to Mark's bad behavior. Because of that, Ben is always by Mark's side. "Let's stop by, I'm thirsty." said Mark briefly. Without say
