NARRATORThe war was finally over. And though it was hard for everyone, they all found a way to cope. After Damon’s death, Morgana decided she would use her grief to make herself stronger. She hadn’t yet realized the amount of work that had to put in after a war was over. They had to build new houses. Plant crops, tend to the wounded. But Morgana, Colton, Ryder and Robert took it all with their heads raised high. When so many people are counting on you, Morgana realized, the only option you have is to be strong. Morgana thrived. The werewolf nation thrived as Ryder was names the new Alpha. It was normally supposed to be Colton because he was the beta and next in line, but they all agreed Ryder was more suitable for the title. After all Ryder was more intelligent that Colton was when it came to matters as such. Ryder was more compassionate and just generally a better person, Colton concluded. And although, Colton is a better person today, he still needs a lot of work before he can f
MORGANA’S POV I can’t remember how long it’s been since I got locked up. I’ve been wearing the same uncomfortable clothes for 2 months now, and it makes it even worse now that they are blood stained. I haven’t been whipped in a long time and that’s only because I’ve tried as much as possible to obey the slave master and do everything he tells me to. I hate the slave master. He’s a short man with a fat belly and I’ve always thought his face -which despite his disgusting personality- was too cute for him. He whips humans- slaves- for the dumbest of reasons. I once had a cell mate who the slave master beat to death because he asked her to smile and she retaliated by spitting in his face. An act that she paid for with her life. He came into the cell and started giving her lashes with his whip. He beat her all over until she just suddenly stopped screaming. Her still fresh carcass was taken to the vampire slave room so her blood could be fed to the starving vampire slaves. The slave mast
MORGANA’S POV It doesn’t take long for us to finally reach the castle grounds. The tall man steps out of the carriage and pulls me out of it by my leash. Once I’m out of the carriage I squint my eyes as an unfamiliar ray of sunlight illuminates my skin. I haven’t felt the sun hit my skin like this in a long time. I almost forgot what it felt like. The slave master always brought us here very early to clean so a lot of the slaves don’t have the opportunity to see the sun rise. He brought us here before the sun rose also because of the vampires since they burn in the sun. They would do their part with their legs in chains before the sun came up. Majority of our lives are spent in darkness on the cold floors of the cells. I breathe in fresh air through my nostrils as I remember how putrid my holding cell smelled. The castle looks a little bit different in the light. The sun illuminates its walls giving it a not so dead look. “Can you walk, human?” The man asks. I shake my head slow
MORGANA’S POVAs the alpha approaches looking very, indecent in his towel, Reece falls to the floor on one knee and bows his head with respect to his Alpha.“This is the only one I could find that matched your description Alpha. The others were either too old or were men.” Reece says as the alpha stands in front of me. I keep my head bowed as he stares me down.SLAP!I feel a sharp pain on my face sending me falling to the floor.“You are to bow in my presence until I say otherwise Pet!” His voice is hoarse and harsh. A tear threatens to break free as I lay on the floor.“You may go Reece.” He dismisses Reece leaving me alone with him in the room. I make my best effort to not let the tears break free.“Stand up, human.” He chants in a taunting tune. “You’re here to serve me, not lie useless on the floor.”My wounds still hurt. I still can’t move properly and this fool just inflicted more pain on me. Oh how gruesome your death will be Alpha. Just wait.I make an effort to get to my fee
MORGANA’S POVI did it. I’m up before the Alpha. Well, not really. I know he’s not really asleep. He’s a werewolf, plus he’s the alpha. Their senses are more advanced and he’s the alpha so I’m guessing he wouldn’t just let himself be vulnerable by falling into a deep sleep. Werewolves only need a couple of hours of sleep every now and then which is enough for them to function properly. He’s testing me.There’s something so annoying about having bruises and wounds all over your body. When you sleep on them, you suddenly wake up the next morning with them feeling even more painful than they originally were.I flinch and squeeze my eyes shut as I make an attempt to stretch my bones.‘That was the best sleep I’ve had in a long time’ I think to myself.I make my way towards my cage door and push it open so I can start preparing the Alpha’s clothes and fetch his breakfast. What the hell does he even eat?I blink and in a second the gigantic man is standing in front of me. H-How? He was in b
DAMON’S POV“The vile thing stole from one of the kitchens.” My brother the Beta says as we walk side by side in the gardens.I just want some fresh air. I just want peace and quiet. Is that too much to ask for? He hasn’t stopped blabbering about this since morning, asking for my permission to punish his slave in front of all the other slaves for something as insignificant as stealing a piece of bread. To use her as an example. Slaves steal from the kitchens all the time so I don’t know why he’s making a fuss about this now.He can punish her in private if he wants, which I’m sure he did already the moment he found out. He’s just being dramatic and bored.“Let me do it. Let me show the other humans what happens when they don’t follow instructions. It will make them more obedient. That way none of them ever even think of stealing ever again?” Colton insists.“Are you bored Colton? We punish slaves publicly for things like them running away or catching them try to commit suicide. She st
MORGANA’S POVReece shoves me inside the alpha’s room as he was commanded by the alpha.“You better pray real hard the Alpha’s in a good mood today. After that show you just pulled out there, you’ll need a god on your side.” Reece says scornfully before leaving me alone in the room.Looking back on what I just did, I realize how stupid I acted. I acted on emotion and not logic and I might get killed for it. If they could punish a slave for stealing bread, I wonder what they’ll do to me for interrupting the punisher.I can’t get killed now. I haven’t even made any progress with my plans to overthrow the werewolves yet. If I die now, everything will be for nothing. My time as a slave, me coming to the castle, my whole life would mean nothing.I pace around the room thinking about what I can do to make my situation better. I’m totally going to die. My plans to save the human race have been ruined by my own emotions.I’m pacing around the room as the doors open wide, the alpha coming into
DAMON’S POV“If I have to ask again, it won’t be pretty.” I say to Morgana.Of all the pets I’ve had Morgana is the most interesting. She knows her place, but she isn’t scared of me. All the other pets I had would whimper and even cry at the sound of my voice. All the other pets I’ve had committed suicide. Some because I was probably too harsh on them and others just because they hated me so much they would rather die than serve me.But Morgana is different. She hates me, I can sense that but there’s a determination in her eyes when I look at her. It makes me curious and at the same time cautious of her. She may be a puny human and no match for my werewolf force, but despite the show I put on about being all powerful and disregarding the lives of humans, I do not underestimate anyone and I’m definitely not about to underestimate Morgana. As werewolves, we have an instinct instilled in us, if someone has bad intentions towards us, we can sense it. Basically every human and vampire we h
