MORGANA’S POV
As the alpha approaches looking very, indecent in his towel, Reece falls to the floor on one knee and bows his head with respect to his Alpha.
“This is the only one I could find that matched your description Alpha. The others were either too old or were men.” Reece says as the alpha stands in front of me. I keep my head bowed as he stares me down.
SLAP!
I feel a sharp pain on my face sending me falling to the floor.
“You are to bow in my presence until I say otherwise Pet!” His voice is hoarse and harsh. A tear threatens to break free as I lay on the floor.
“You may go Reece.” He dismisses Reece leaving me alone with him in the room. I make my best effort to not let the tears break free.
“Stand up, human.” He chants in a taunting tune. “You’re here to serve me, not lie useless on the floor.”
My wounds still hurt. I still can’t move properly and this fool just inflicted more pain on me. Oh how gruesome your death will be Alpha. Just wait.
I make an effort to get to my feet despite my aching body. He smirks at me as he makes his way to another end of the room. He changes right in front of me into a robe and hops in his king size bed.
“You are to bring me food, wash my clothes, make sure my room is kept spotless, organize my working area and please, no matter what happens take a bath from time to time. I despise nasty pets.” He says from his bed, his voice loud enough to reach me from where I’m standing.
I realize the uncertainty of my life now lies in the hands of the alpha. He has the right to do whatever it is he wants to do with me. He could rip out my heart right this instant if he wanted to and there’s nothing I’ll be able to do about it.
From the few seconds spent with him I come to the conclusion that he’s an impatient man. He literally slapped me for not bowing to him. As if a bow from an insignificant slave matters so much to him. He’s just a jerk.
“Come here, pet.” He commands and I squeeze my eye shut, mentally preparing myself for another slap as I make my way slowly to the edge of his bed. I hurt all over as I walk.
He lifts his huge self from the bed and moves closer to me getting uncomfortably close to my face. He lifts my chin aggressively making me lock eyes with him. Being this close to him gives me a chance to notice his facial features.
For a demon, the alpha is actually the most handsome man I’ve ever laid eyes on. But he’s still a demon, he doesn’t deserve that face.
His pupils are the darkest I’ve ever seen on a person, as dark as his midnight hair. As he keeps applying pressure to my chin, I have an urge to spit in his face.
“Tell me your name.” He commands.
“M-Morgana.” I say struggling to speak as he lifts my chin up even more making me stand on tiptoes. Is he trying to rip my head off?
“Well Morgana, in case it wasn’t clear yet. I am the alpha supreme of the werewolf nation. Your life means nothing. The only thing that matters about your existence is me. You live to serve me. I’m very short tempered and I despise pets with an attitude. Don’t think of escaping because you will either end up dead or whipped. Either way, you lose in the end. There is no way out of here. The sooner you accept that, the better. Do you understand?” He lifts me effortlessly by my chin until my entire body is lifted off the floor.
“I- I understand Alpha.” I say struggling to get the words out.
He lets go of my chin and I land with pain on the floor. Wow. He sure is going to give me a hard time in here. On the bright side this place is better than staying in that cell with the slave master.
The alpha thinks I’m weak, stupid. He thinks his little speech just made me hopeless. He has no idea how wrong he is. I went through worse in the slavery organization and I didn’t break. A couple of slaps from time to time is nothing compared to what I’ve been through.
He won’t ruin me that easily. He’ll have to do a lot better than some harsh words. My determination to ruin him is greater than my desire to give up. Soon he’ll be begging me for mercy. Soon, his kind will be the ones in cages.
Again, I have no idea how to go about this plan, but me being in the castle means I can snoop around and most importantly, find out how the werewolves got so strong. They used to be dominated by the vampires. An entire species doesn’t just attain super strength over night. They have a secret and once I find out what it is, that is when I start plotting against them.
The thought of revenge makes me smirk, even as I try to force myself up. My heart warms at the thought of their screams, of them being in my place, of giving them a taste of their own medicine.
I turn my head to the far left end of the room I didn’t notice before and see a huge cage. It’s the biggest cage I’ve ever seen. The Alpha’s bed could fit in there.. Realization washes over me and I understand it’s mine. From one cell to the next. I sigh rolling my eyes.
However, there is something different about this cell. Inside of it, there is a bed and a wardrobe.
“That is your side of the room.” The alpha points to the huge cage. “This is the first time a pet of mine is getting such special treatment and it’s only because I’m tired of you weaklings dying on me. You have everything you need in there to make you a presentable pet. Clothes, a bed, pillows. So you see human, there is no need for you to disrespect me. That would just make you ungrateful.” He gets out of bed and urges me to follow him as he leads me towards my cage.
“Get in.” He commands.
I step into the cage and closes the door behind me. He doesn’t lock it with a key though. It’s probably a test to see if I’ll try to escape at night or not. Surely he doesn’t think I’m that stupid. Besides, it isn’t time for me to plan my escape yet.
“Get some sleep. You look a horrid mess. Your duties start tomorrow. You better not disappoint me, pet! You are to be awake before me and prepare all that I would need for the day and that includes my clothing, food and well, you know the drill. I don’t like repeating myself Morgana so I, for your sake, hope you have a retentive memory.”
“I understand Alpha.” I say.
He offers me one last glance before putting on his clothes and escaping out the room. Stupid werewolves and their bipolar behavior. One minute he’s sending me flying across the room with a slap and the next he’s offering me a comfortable bed.
As soon as he leaves the room, I fall onto the soft mattress. I let out a moan as my skin touches the fabric. I suddenly realize how tired I am. All the fatigue and stress I’ve been through suddenly comes crashing on me and I find myself falling asleep in no time. I’ll be asleep all day and all night. That’s enough time for me to be up before the morning bells tomorrow.
MORGANA’S POVI did it. I’m up before the Alpha. Well, not really. I know he’s not really asleep. He’s a werewolf, plus he’s the alpha. Their senses are more advanced and he’s the alpha so I’m guessing he wouldn’t just let himself be vulnerable by falling into a deep sleep. Werewolves only need a couple of hours of sleep every now and then which is enough for them to function properly. He’s testing me.There’s something so annoying about having bruises and wounds all over your body. When you sleep on them, you suddenly wake up the next morning with them feeling even more painful than they originally were.I flinch and squeeze my eyes shut as I make an attempt to stretch my bones.‘That was the best sleep I’ve had in a long time’ I think to myself.I make my way towards my cage door and push it open so I can start preparing the Alpha’s clothes and fetch his breakfast. What the hell does he even eat?I blink and in a second the gigantic man is standing in front of me. H-How? He was in b
DAMON’S POV“The vile thing stole from one of the kitchens.” My brother the Beta says as we walk side by side in the gardens.I just want some fresh air. I just want peace and quiet. Is that too much to ask for? He hasn’t stopped blabbering about this since morning, asking for my permission to punish his slave in front of all the other slaves for something as insignificant as stealing a piece of bread. To use her as an example. Slaves steal from the kitchens all the time so I don’t know why he’s making a fuss about this now.He can punish her in private if he wants, which I’m sure he did already the moment he found out. He’s just being dramatic and bored.“Let me do it. Let me show the other humans what happens when they don’t follow instructions. It will make them more obedient. That way none of them ever even think of stealing ever again?” Colton insists.“Are you bored Colton? We punish slaves publicly for things like them running away or catching them try to commit suicide. She st
MORGANA’S POVReece shoves me inside the alpha’s room as he was commanded by the alpha.“You better pray real hard the Alpha’s in a good mood today. After that show you just pulled out there, you’ll need a god on your side.” Reece says scornfully before leaving me alone in the room.Looking back on what I just did, I realize how stupid I acted. I acted on emotion and not logic and I might get killed for it. If they could punish a slave for stealing bread, I wonder what they’ll do to me for interrupting the punisher.I can’t get killed now. I haven’t even made any progress with my plans to overthrow the werewolves yet. If I die now, everything will be for nothing. My time as a slave, me coming to the castle, my whole life would mean nothing.I pace around the room thinking about what I can do to make my situation better. I’m totally going to die. My plans to save the human race have been ruined by my own emotions.I’m pacing around the room as the doors open wide, the alpha coming into
DAMON’S POV“If I have to ask again, it won’t be pretty.” I say to Morgana.Of all the pets I’ve had Morgana is the most interesting. She knows her place, but she isn’t scared of me. All the other pets I had would whimper and even cry at the sound of my voice. All the other pets I’ve had committed suicide. Some because I was probably too harsh on them and others just because they hated me so much they would rather die than serve me.But Morgana is different. She hates me, I can sense that but there’s a determination in her eyes when I look at her. It makes me curious and at the same time cautious of her. She may be a puny human and no match for my werewolf force, but despite the show I put on about being all powerful and disregarding the lives of humans, I do not underestimate anyone and I’m definitely not about to underestimate Morgana. As werewolves, we have an instinct instilled in us, if someone has bad intentions towards us, we can sense it. Basically every human and vampire we h
DAMON’S POV New day, new responsibilities, three species to keep tabs on, three whole nations to keep in check. I’m bored honestly. For three years everything has gone my way. For three years no one has dared defied me. For three years I have ruled successfully over three nations. I need some action. Oh I need someone to dare me. This calm and quiet has been going on for too long. The humans and vampires made it a bit too easy. I barely lost any pack members during the war. Well, I shouldn’t be complaining. This is what I wanted and I got it. I’m the most powerful man in the world. Morgana woke up pretty early today. She fixed my bath, cleaned my room and brought me breakfast already. Even if I wanted to make her life miserable for a while, I can’t. She’s being a good pet. Bummer. I would’ve loved to push her around a little. Just for the fun of it. Now she’s just sitting in her cage. I’ve felt her staring at me for a while. I turn my gaze towards her and she quickly lowers her hea
DAMON’S POV I forgot how massive this castle was. I’ve been walking for a few minutes now and I still haven’t reached the underground dungeon where we keep our vampire slaves. The vampires that we use to make our serum. Yep, that is the werewolf nation's biggest secret. The secret to how the werewolves became the most dangerous, feared and strongest creatures in the world. The answer is vampire blood. If my dad were here he would laugh at how ironic this all is. The same people who would have taken over us and used us as slaves are the same people who saved us. I have no idea how the biology of all of it works. That is all up to our scientist. All I know is, the serum made from vampire blood mixed with our werewolf DNA gives birth to something amazing. This is the key to our rule which is why the humans are so important to us. We need them to feed the vampires so we can use their blood to produce more serum. Just a single bottle of serum requires blood from fifty vampires. But that
WARREN’S POV Intelligence isn’t always a blessing. Sometimes it causes destruction, death, jeopardy. Sometimes intelligence is a curse. The only thing my intelligence caused is a war. A war that took many lives, including my parents’. Everything started with me. Everything is my fault. God, I was such an idiot. But I did it for family, I did it for love. I just wanted to be free from the hold the vampires had on us. I wanted to save my parents. My parents and I were used as blood banks under the rule of those blood suckers. It was three years ago. I try to tell myself that I was only seventeen, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. When I think about my escape from the vampire nation that day, it still baffles me. “You are not going to spend the rest of your life in this hell hole.” My mother said to me once. Her and father promised they were going to get me out of there. They said I was too smart and gifted to waste away, being used as a blood bank. And so they did. I r
KILLIAN’S POVI almost died. I can’t believe I let my guard down as much as I did. We thought ourselves the most powerful creatures in the world. We thrived and moved forward never looking back to check if we were in danger. There was no need to check anyways. The vampires were the most powerful. Even as the werewolves attacked that day, I still kept my head held high. ‘Just what exactly do they think they can do to us?’ I thought to myself that day as the invasion started. Of course they attacked during the day and tore down half our fortress, the only thing shielding us from the sunlight destroyed. That of course gave them a huge advantage, but I was still confident they couldn’t do anything to us. A quarter of my people immediately burned exposed to the sun’s rays. Me being the vampire lord, the most powerful vampire in existence, I am more resistant to the burn of the sun. I walked confidently towards the alpha, plunging at him and ready to rip out his throat. To my surprise h
NARRATORThe war was finally over. And though it was hard for everyone, they all found a way to cope. After Damon’s death, Morgana decided she would use her grief to make herself stronger. She hadn’t yet realized the amount of work that had to put in after a war was over. They had to build new houses. Plant crops, tend to the wounded. But Morgana, Colton, Ryder and Robert took it all with their heads raised high. When so many people are counting on you, Morgana realized, the only option you have is to be strong. Morgana thrived. The werewolf nation thrived as Ryder was names the new Alpha. It was normally supposed to be Colton because he was the beta and next in line, but they all agreed Ryder was more suitable for the title. After all Ryder was more intelligent that Colton was when it came to matters as such. Ryder was more compassionate and just generally a better person, Colton concluded. And although, Colton is a better person today, he still needs a lot of work before he can f
DAMON’S POVI knew this would happen. Sooner or later, I knew all my sins would catch up to me. I have hurt too many people. Killed too many people and I deserve this. Evil should not have a place in this world. A world which contains someone as beautiful as Morgana. She was the light to my darkness. She is everything I ever hoped for. Although it was short-lived, I adored every moment spent with her. She came into my life and taught me something powerful, something that changed my entire life’s trajectory. In a cruel, and wicked world, she taught me a better way to live. She taught me how to love. I couldn’t believe it first, when my feelings for her were reciprocated with such a willingness to forgive me. I was almost tempted to take back everything I said to her because I didn’t feel I deserved her. She was too much light for me and I was scared my darkness would poison her. I still have no idea how she was ever able to forgive me for what I did to her. I still cannot believe th
MORGANA’S POVMy mother said there is no way to save Damon. I must have been in the spirit realm for a few hours comparting it to the human world. I feel so useless, so desperate for anything. Anything that can help Damon. I wasn’t sure about Chloe said because it felt so unreal so I even consulted her mother and she assured me that Chloe’s curse on Damon was real. She sent me back and urged me to say my goodbyes to him before it’s too late. I have no idea why everyone is so determined to give up. they just expect me to let Damon die? Without trying every single thing I can to save him? How can they even expect me to do that?I didn’t realize how dark it had gotten. How far I had gone away. And then it hits me. All what happened during the day suddenly hits me like a tsunami. Damon is going to die and I should be with him right now. I should be spending the last moments I have with him but here I am, looking for a cure that doesn’t exist.I just can’t accept this and I don’t know if I
MORGANA’S POVAs soon as Chloe closes her eyes, she vanishes in the same exact way that the deity did. She turns into ash on the ground and vanishes as the wind carries her ashes away and Warren screams into the ground with the most agonizing wail I have ever heard.“You killed her. You fucking killed her!” He screams at me standing up from the ground and pointing his index finger angrily at me.“All she wanted to do was get justice and you killed her Morgana.” Warren falls to his knees. “Why did you kill her?” He sobs and falls to his knees to the ground.I can tell he has no fight in him anymore. He knows everything is over now and he knows he has lost. Putting up a fight will be foolish of him. Besides, I am not in the mood to have small talk with him or fight with him about something we have spoken about a million times. A crowd of werewolves and humans walks towards us from the castle shouting and roaring cheers of victory, already celebrating the freedom that we very much now h
MORGANA’S POVWhen the bright light clears, I see Chloe standing in the distance way outside the castle gates. I stare down at my hands in disbelief, unable to get it through my head that I was able to send her off that far. I guess I’m stronger than I thought. If I can keep her out of castle grounds then I won’t hold back. I’ll be able to use as much of my magic as I want to.“I’m going to go after Chloe.” I scream at the top of my lungs to the boys who are busy fighting off and knocking out the werewolves under Chloe’s control.Damon tries to come with me but I shake my head and he frowns. I want him to be with his brothers right now. They may be strong but the werewolves are numerous and Colton and Ryder will need all the help they get.He runs towards me desperately as if I would evaporate if he didn’t get to me fast enough. He breathes heavily and punches a werewolf in the face that came after him. He grabs my face and plants a strong kiss on my lips. I taste sweat and dirt and l
MORGANA’S POVWhat Damon and I saw when we finally got into his room isn’t at all what we were expecting. My hope was that we would see Chloe sitting on a chair nearby with that evil smile on her face waiting for us and I would send the signal to Colton and Ryder to start making preparations to open the gates. But when we walked in the only person we saw was Warren and I could not believe my eyes. The person standing in front of us right now looks like Warren, but if Warren felt dark before, he feels darker even now.I want to launch for him and rip is head of his neck but I hesitate, because I have no idea what Chloe has done to him. it is very clear from the aura coming off him that Chloe has messed with him even more because he feels so powerful and I can tell Damon has sensed it too because he places himself slightly in front of me.We don’t know what Warren is capable of right now and charging towards him blindly can turn out to be fatal so we need to be smart about this and calc
COLTON’S POV“Hey, do you think they’re going to be okay?” Ryder asks me as we make our way through the tunnels. There’s a path that leads directly towards the castle gates and hopefully, there won’t be a lot of guards guarding it so we can get it open with no problems. We reach an opening and make it onto the castle grounds not too far away from the main gate. I can see guards stationed at random spots eyeing nothing in particular. They all look dead an empty, under Chloe’s abominable spell. “They’ll be fine. Damon and Morgana are both smart and strong. Nothing is going to happen to them.” I say to Ryder, our voices barely above a whisper to avoid drawing attention to ourselves.“Are you saying that to convince me or yourself?” Ryder asks.“What does it matter Ryder? They’ll be fine, I know it.” I say getting irritated by his tone. I can’t even begin to thin or imagine that something might go wrong with Damon and Ana. I need them to come back alive. I don’t know if I’ll survive thi
DAMON’S POVIt’s time for everything to go down just how we planned. We have taken every precaution necessary and yet I still feel like there is something missing. There is a creeping fear climbing up my back that I cannot seem to shake off and it’s driving me insane. Morgana and I are supposed to distract Chloe and try to break her spell on the others while Colton and Ryder find a way to break the gates open and evacuate the humans. There are two options. We either find a way to get Chloe out of the castle so that everyone remains unharmed and take the fight far away. But if that’s not possible then that will leave us with the second option. Fighting right here in the castle and evacuating as many humans as we can. Morgana thinks she can get Chloe out with a teleportation spell but I don’t know if she’s strong enough to manage a spell like that again. She just teleported us back here and I don’t know if it is wise for her to do another teleportation spell in such a short time rang
MORGANA’S POVColton and Ryder are gearing up and wearing some fighting clothes they found here in the secret room in the tunnels. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Damon properly. This entire war has put a strain on our relationship and I miss him so much. I can see how stressed he is. How much he doesn’t want me to see how stressed he is.Damon has never been one to seek help in anything he does. He has a habit of getting things done himself and I really wish sometimes he would open up about somethings. He just tries so hard to be strong for everyone and he doesn’t let anyone see how much he struggles. “Hey.” I say walking up to him as he dresses up, and I can’t help but think that in all the months I have known Damon, I have never seen him in any attire quite like this one. It adds a bit of seriousness to his aura and I know I shouldn’t be thinking about it now but he literally looks the most handsome and sexiest I have ever seen him. The way the muscles of his biceps strain aga
