MORGANA’S POV
It doesn’t take long for us to finally reach the castle grounds. The tall man steps out of the carriage and pulls me out of it by my leash.
Once I’m out of the carriage I squint my eyes as an unfamiliar ray of sunlight illuminates my skin. I haven’t felt the sun hit my skin like this in a long time. I almost forgot what it felt like. The slave master always brought us here very early to clean so a lot of the slaves don’t have the opportunity to see the sun rise.
He brought us here before the sun rose also because of the vampires since they burn in the sun. They would do their part with their legs in chains before the sun came up.
Majority of our lives are spent in darkness on the cold floors of the cells.
I breathe in fresh air through my nostrils as I remember how putrid my holding cell smelled.
The castle looks a little bit different in the light. The sun illuminates its walls giving it a not so dead look.
“Can you walk, human?” The man asks. I shake my head slowly making sure not to meet his gaze as he looks at me. It’s a sign of disrespect to make eye contact with your superior.
He instructs some of the guards at his side to carry me into the castle. I flinch as one of them raises me bridal style into his arms.
“Take her to the nurses, when she’s clean and her wounds are taken of, bring her back to me. She is to be the alpha’s new slave so handle her properly. He doesn’t want another one dying on him.” The man says before sending the guards and I away.
At his phrase, I wonder how many of the alpha’s pets have died already and if I’m about to walk into a death trap.
They take me into the castle, up the flight of stairs leading to the first floor and into a room filled with women in white robes and white scarfs around their heads. These must be the nurses. The room is filled with slaves who are highly injured, some of them barely even able to breathe. A shiver runs down my spine at the sight.
An elderly nurse points to a bed at a corner and the guard drops me onto the mattress. It’s not soft but it’s the closest thing to a bed I’ve had in a long time compared to the cold floor in the cell I lived in. The wounds on my back ache as he lays me on the bed.
“This one’s for the alpha. Make her look presentable. I’ll be outside.” The guard takes off my collar and leaves me in the room with the old woman.
She takes me to a bathtub in a nearby room filled with other people who are distastefully naked. She doesn’t really expect me to bathe in here with all these people.
“Strip.” She orders and I hesitate making her frown at me.
“Look here, human! The only reason I’m not being harsh with you right now, even though I really want to is because you belong to the alpha and you’re already wounded enough as it is. If you think you’re going to get a private bathing area, then I urge you to reduce your expectations to zero. Now strip before I make you do it myself. And trust me, I won’t be gentle.” She says harshly.
I roll my eyes and strip, getting into the bathtub filled with warm water. I flinch as the wounded parts of my body come in contact with the water. I think about the last time I had warm water on my skin. God, it’s been so long. As I’m getting comfortable with my eyes closed in the bathtub I feel a sponge glide down my back covered with bruises. She wasn't kidding about not being gentle.
I hiss at the pain as she keeps scrubbing every part of my bloodstained body with the sponge. When she’s done, she dries me up and applies some ointment to my wounds.
She dresses me in a long white robe and ties my red hair up in a bun. I can’t remember the last time I felt so clean. At least being the alpha’s pet has its perks. Cleanliness being one of them.
The slave master hardly ever let us take regular baths back at the slavery organization. We had to live in filth. The old nurse hands me the little bottle containing the ointment for my wounds.
“Apply it to your wounds twice a day and they will be healed up in about a week.” She leads me out of the room and hands me back to the guard who brought me here.
“Come on human.” The guard lifts me again as I still have trouble moving properly. I know he's only carrying me because i'm the Alpha's new pet. I’ve never understood why they say the word human with so much disgust. Like it was a crime to belong to the human species. Punishing us for something we cannot control.
He takes me back to the tall man who brought me here.
“You may go.” He dismisses the guard and I’m left alone with the tall man.
“Your name, human.” He demands.
“Morgana.” I say as I watch him write something down on a piece of paper at his desk.
He drops his feather pen as he stands making his way towards me. I feel smaller next to him now that we’re in a room alone together. He places his index finger and thumb below his chin as he circles me, examining me like I’m prey. He grabs my face turning it from side to side making weird noises as he examines me.
He lifts my hand and cups one of my breasts making me flinch. I slap away his hand and move slightly backwards away from him. I lift my head, staring into his eyes with disgust.
He walks towards me creasing his brows in annoyance. “Don’t do that again or you’ll pay dearly.”
“Follow me.” He says and I obey. He doesn’t know it yet but his name just got added to the list of people I’m going to kill when I’m getting my revenge.
‘Just a little bit more patience Morgana’ I think to myself. Just a little bit more endurance and perseverance and they’ll all be dead.
He leads me up the third floor. We’re met with a long dark hallway illuminated by a few candles. There are some paintings on the wall and a red carpet that leads to a black door guarded by two guards.
“Good day Master Reece.” They say in unison as we approach the door. He’s a master, interesting. He must be close to the alpha for him to earn that title. They don’t hesitate to give him way as they push open the doors.
We walk in together and the room is massive. It’s definitely the alpha’s. About 10 bedrooms could fit in here and there would still be enough space left for more. At the sight of the comfortable room, my blood boils with anger.
Why does he get to live lavishly after all the suffering he’s caused? This entire war started because of this power hungry idiot. I hate him.
I don’t even know who to hate more, the vampires or the werewolves. All I know is I want every single one of these monsters dead.
A door opens and the biggest man I’ve ever seen steps out with a towel wrapped around his waist. I’ve never met the alpha in person before but I didn’t expect him to be so massive. His chest is broad and his abdomen is a wall with chiseled abs.
His hair on his head is as dark as midnight. A head that I now fantasize about cutting off. He glances over at our direction and starts walking towards us.
“Ah Reece! You’re here. And I see you have my new pet.” His voice is fierce and loud. A voice that demands respect and attention.
MORGANA’S POVAs the alpha approaches looking very, indecent in his towel, Reece falls to the floor on one knee and bows his head with respect to his Alpha.“This is the only one I could find that matched your description Alpha. The others were either too old or were men.” Reece says as the alpha stands in front of me. I keep my head bowed as he stares me down.SLAP!I feel a sharp pain on my face sending me falling to the floor.“You are to bow in my presence until I say otherwise Pet!” His voice is hoarse and harsh. A tear threatens to break free as I lay on the floor.“You may go Reece.” He dismisses Reece leaving me alone with him in the room. I make my best effort to not let the tears break free.“Stand up, human.” He chants in a taunting tune. “You’re here to serve me, not lie useless on the floor.”My wounds still hurt. I still can’t move properly and this fool just inflicted more pain on me. Oh how gruesome your death will be Alpha. Just wait.I make an effort to get to my fee
MORGANA’S POVI did it. I’m up before the Alpha. Well, not really. I know he’s not really asleep. He’s a werewolf, plus he’s the alpha. Their senses are more advanced and he’s the alpha so I’m guessing he wouldn’t just let himself be vulnerable by falling into a deep sleep. Werewolves only need a couple of hours of sleep every now and then which is enough for them to function properly. He’s testing me.There’s something so annoying about having bruises and wounds all over your body. When you sleep on them, you suddenly wake up the next morning with them feeling even more painful than they originally were.I flinch and squeeze my eyes shut as I make an attempt to stretch my bones.‘That was the best sleep I’ve had in a long time’ I think to myself.I make my way towards my cage door and push it open so I can start preparing the Alpha’s clothes and fetch his breakfast. What the hell does he even eat?I blink and in a second the gigantic man is standing in front of me. H-How? He was in b
DAMON’S POV“The vile thing stole from one of the kitchens.” My brother the Beta says as we walk side by side in the gardens.I just want some fresh air. I just want peace and quiet. Is that too much to ask for? He hasn’t stopped blabbering about this since morning, asking for my permission to punish his slave in front of all the other slaves for something as insignificant as stealing a piece of bread. To use her as an example. Slaves steal from the kitchens all the time so I don’t know why he’s making a fuss about this now.He can punish her in private if he wants, which I’m sure he did already the moment he found out. He’s just being dramatic and bored.“Let me do it. Let me show the other humans what happens when they don’t follow instructions. It will make them more obedient. That way none of them ever even think of stealing ever again?” Colton insists.“Are you bored Colton? We punish slaves publicly for things like them running away or catching them try to commit suicide. She st
MORGANA’S POVReece shoves me inside the alpha’s room as he was commanded by the alpha.“You better pray real hard the Alpha’s in a good mood today. After that show you just pulled out there, you’ll need a god on your side.” Reece says scornfully before leaving me alone in the room.Looking back on what I just did, I realize how stupid I acted. I acted on emotion and not logic and I might get killed for it. If they could punish a slave for stealing bread, I wonder what they’ll do to me for interrupting the punisher.I can’t get killed now. I haven’t even made any progress with my plans to overthrow the werewolves yet. If I die now, everything will be for nothing. My time as a slave, me coming to the castle, my whole life would mean nothing.I pace around the room thinking about what I can do to make my situation better. I’m totally going to die. My plans to save the human race have been ruined by my own emotions.I’m pacing around the room as the doors open wide, the alpha coming into
DAMON’S POV“If I have to ask again, it won’t be pretty.” I say to Morgana.Of all the pets I’ve had Morgana is the most interesting. She knows her place, but she isn’t scared of me. All the other pets I had would whimper and even cry at the sound of my voice. All the other pets I’ve had committed suicide. Some because I was probably too harsh on them and others just because they hated me so much they would rather die than serve me.But Morgana is different. She hates me, I can sense that but there’s a determination in her eyes when I look at her. It makes me curious and at the same time cautious of her. She may be a puny human and no match for my werewolf force, but despite the show I put on about being all powerful and disregarding the lives of humans, I do not underestimate anyone and I’m definitely not about to underestimate Morgana. As werewolves, we have an instinct instilled in us, if someone has bad intentions towards us, we can sense it. Basically every human and vampire we h
DAMON’S POV New day, new responsibilities, three species to keep tabs on, three whole nations to keep in check. I’m bored honestly. For three years everything has gone my way. For three years no one has dared defied me. For three years I have ruled successfully over three nations. I need some action. Oh I need someone to dare me. This calm and quiet has been going on for too long. The humans and vampires made it a bit too easy. I barely lost any pack members during the war. Well, I shouldn’t be complaining. This is what I wanted and I got it. I’m the most powerful man in the world. Morgana woke up pretty early today. She fixed my bath, cleaned my room and brought me breakfast already. Even if I wanted to make her life miserable for a while, I can’t. She’s being a good pet. Bummer. I would’ve loved to push her around a little. Just for the fun of it. Now she’s just sitting in her cage. I’ve felt her staring at me for a while. I turn my gaze towards her and she quickly lowers her hea
DAMON’S POV I forgot how massive this castle was. I’ve been walking for a few minutes now and I still haven’t reached the underground dungeon where we keep our vampire slaves. The vampires that we use to make our serum. Yep, that is the werewolf nation's biggest secret. The secret to how the werewolves became the most dangerous, feared and strongest creatures in the world. The answer is vampire blood. If my dad were here he would laugh at how ironic this all is. The same people who would have taken over us and used us as slaves are the same people who saved us. I have no idea how the biology of all of it works. That is all up to our scientist. All I know is, the serum made from vampire blood mixed with our werewolf DNA gives birth to something amazing. This is the key to our rule which is why the humans are so important to us. We need them to feed the vampires so we can use their blood to produce more serum. Just a single bottle of serum requires blood from fifty vampires. But that
WARREN’S POV Intelligence isn’t always a blessing. Sometimes it causes destruction, death, jeopardy. Sometimes intelligence is a curse. The only thing my intelligence caused is a war. A war that took many lives, including my parents’. Everything started with me. Everything is my fault. God, I was such an idiot. But I did it for family, I did it for love. I just wanted to be free from the hold the vampires had on us. I wanted to save my parents. My parents and I were used as blood banks under the rule of those blood suckers. It was three years ago. I try to tell myself that I was only seventeen, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. When I think about my escape from the vampire nation that day, it still baffles me. “You are not going to spend the rest of your life in this hell hole.” My mother said to me once. Her and father promised they were going to get me out of there. They said I was too smart and gifted to waste away, being used as a blood bank. And so they did. I r
