I forgot how massive this castle was. I’ve been walking for a few minutes now and I still haven’t reached the underground dungeon where we keep our vampire slaves. The vampires that we use to make our serum.
Yep, that is the werewolf nation's biggest secret. The secret to how the werewolves became the most dangerous, feared and strongest creatures in the world. The answer is vampire blood. If my dad were here he would laugh at how ironic this all is.
The same people who would have taken over us and used us as slaves are the same people who saved us. I have no idea how the biology of all of it works. That is all up to our scientist. All I know is, the serum made from vampire blood mixed with our werewolf DNA gives birth to something amazing.
This is the key to our rule which is why the humans are so important to us. We need them to feed the vampires so we can use their blood to produce more serum. Just a single bottle of serum requires blood from fifty vampires. But that’s enough because just one drop of that serum is all what a werewolf needs to be more dominant and ferocious for about a week or two.
After a few more steps I reach the underground dungeons. It’s massive and only a select few know about what happens down here. This is where we keep majority of the vampires we captured from the war. The others are kept at the slavery organization to carry out insignificant tasks.
There are hundreds of vampires trapped in cages, huge chains around their necks and ankles. As I walk through the long hallway looking from cage to cage, I twist my face in disgust as I look at their horrible appearances. Creatures of the night, blood sucking demons. They look dried up from the lack of blood in their system. Some of them barely even able to move.
These creatures are not supposed to exist, they are not a natural occurrence. They are the product of witchery. Before we knew it, they spread like a wildfire, like a virus and took over the earth. Mother nature would be proud of me for putting them down like this.
They disgust me.
I walk past their cages and into another room filled with vampires who have tubes inserted into their necks. This is where we collect their blood.
“How much have you been able to collect so far?” I ask the guard in charge next to me in a serious tone.
“Not nearly enough Alpha. They haven’t been fed in weeks. They barely have any blood left in their system.” He explains and I nod simply.
I turn in my tracks to get the hell out of this underground. It reeks of vampires which is the most disgusting smell a werewolf can be around considering that our senses are heightened. I came down here to check our progress with the blood collection.
It’s slower than I thought. There was barely anything flowing out of them. In about a month, if the new rules I set are properly obeyed, the humans would be healthy enough for us to use them as blood supply for the vampires. Which is why it is very important that the population heeds to the new rules I set.
The humans would probably only hate us more when they realize that the only reason we’re giving them special treatment is so they can have vampires drink their blood but I don’t care. We need more serum. As Colton mentioned, the vampire lord may still be alive. He might be preparing an attack and he has all the time in the world since the vile creatures don't age. Werewolves age pretty slowly too but vampires are basically immortal unless their heads are cut off. I clearly remember cutting off the vampire Lord's head but i'm not dumb enough to ignore rumours.
If he ever decides to attack, considering he is still alive, then we need to be prepared.
I leave the underground and make my way to a secret room. The laboratory where we keep our scientist. Two guards unlock the door and push it open giving way to a mad scientist's lair. Test tubes, round bottom flasks and equipment properly set up in a way only the scientist can understand.
The blond twenty year old boy startles at the sound of the door opening. He immediately bows when he spots me, greeting me with submission.
I walk slowly over to him, a little bit irritated that he hasn’t been able to produce anymore serum for a while, even if it's hardly his fault. The vampire blood he has isn't enough.
“Stand up Warren.” I say to the blond human and he rises, his head still facing his feet as he refuses to make eye contact with me.
I feel him tremble as I circle him, probably scared that I’m going to punish him for his incompetence.
“You know how important your work is to the werewolves, don’t you Warren?” I ask still circling him. I know it’s not his fault he hasn’t been able to produce any more serum given the fact that he needs a large amount of vampire blood to produce just a bottle.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to scare him anyways, give him some motivation.
“Yes Master.” He answers shakily, sweat dripping from his forehead in fear.
“We give you all the comfort, space, time, food you need so you can be healthy enough to get work done don’t we Warren?” I ask, this time stopping in my tracks behind him.
“Yes master.” He answers again, his voice coming out in cracks.
“So can I know why you haven’t been able to get any work done in a year? Mmh?” I make my voice intentionally deeper and deadlier as I make my way to stand in front of him.
“The blood alpha. I need more blood before I can start with the production. If I use the blood we have now, the effect of the serum would be reduced. It wouldn’t be as powerful and it’ll last only a few days. You asked for something stronger, which is why I need a higher concentration of vampire blood. I just need forty more liters of vampire blood and I can start with the production. The serum I make this time will be able to last for a whole month. Just one drop and you’ll be the most powerful creature to ever exist.”
He says his last sentence with a louder voice, trying to sweet talk me. If only he knew I’m not in the slightest angry at him. I just want to scare him. People tend to respond best to displays of violence.
“I see.” I state, as I make my way towards the door.
“You’ll have your forty liters of vampire blood in a month. I hope there won’t be anymore excuses when the time comes.” I say as I walk out of the laboratory.
WARREN’S POV Intelligence isn’t always a blessing. Sometimes it causes destruction, death, jeopardy. Sometimes intelligence is a curse. The only thing my intelligence caused is a war. A war that took many lives, including my parents’. Everything started with me. Everything is my fault. God, I was such an idiot. But I did it for family, I did it for love. I just wanted to be free from the hold the vampires had on us. I wanted to save my parents. My parents and I were used as blood banks under the rule of those blood suckers. It was three years ago. I try to tell myself that I was only seventeen, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. When I think about my escape from the vampire nation that day, it still baffles me. “You are not going to spend the rest of your life in this hell hole.” My mother said to me once. Her and father promised they were going to get me out of there. They said I was too smart and gifted to waste away, being used as a blood bank. And so they did. I r
KILLIAN’S POVI almost died. I can’t believe I let my guard down as much as I did. We thought ourselves the most powerful creatures in the world. We thrived and moved forward never looking back to check if we were in danger. There was no need to check anyways. The vampires were the most powerful. Even as the werewolves attacked that day, I still kept my head held high. ‘Just what exactly do they think they can do to us?’ I thought to myself that day as the invasion started. Of course they attacked during the day and tore down half our fortress, the only thing shielding us from the sunlight destroyed. That of course gave them a huge advantage, but I was still confident they couldn’t do anything to us. A quarter of my people immediately burned exposed to the sun’s rays. Me being the vampire lord, the most powerful vampire in existence, I am more resistant to the burn of the sun. I walked confidently towards the alpha, plunging at him and ready to rip out his throat. To my surprise h
ALANA’S POV*In the forbidden forests*“Alana snap out of it!” My mother says shaking me awake from the trance I was just in. I have never had a vision before. “I think I just got a vision Mom.” Her eyes grow wide at my statement. “But you’re not a seer. You’re a nature witch. How can you get a vision?” She questions.“I have no idea mom but that’s what it felt like. It felt like a pull, it felt so real.” I say still shivering from what I just saw. “Come on. If there’s anyone who can explain, it’s the supreme witch.” She grabs my hand quickly and leads us out of our little house. Far into the forbidden forests is where the witches and some humans who have escaped tyranny live. We’ve been here for decades, too scared to meet the cruelty of the outside world. Everything is simple for us in here.We live in peace. The witch supreme created a boundary. Only humans and witches can come in and out of these forests. She said it was to protect us from the vampires and werewolves. My mom
MORGANA’S POVDamon looks worried. He’s been pacing from left to right all day. Good. Whatever it is that’s getting him all worked up, I hope he gets a stroke and dies because of it.It has been exactly forty days since I was brought to the castle to be the Alpha’s slave and it brings me a copious amount of shame to admit that I haven’t made any progress in my plans. I have found out absolutely nothing concerning the werewolves. It’s annoying and frustrating. I need to up my game and I need to do it fast.Ever since the Alpha put out his new law concerning the humans, everything has been better for us. They give us better food now, thrice a day. We have better clothes and better beds. They even stopped beating us too. Sorry Mr. Punisher, I guess you lost your job. This special treatment they’re giving us, I know it’s not because they care about us. The werewolves don’t give a shit about us humans. The alpha said he’s tired of losing humans, that we’re dying out too quickly. He probabl
DAMON’S POV “What are you thinking about Morgana?” I haven’t called her pet in seven days. I can tell she likes the new change given the way her face lights up every time I call her by her name. It’s almost cute. “Nothing master.” She replies quietly from her cage. I don’t believe her. “Don’t lie to me.” I state, raising a brow as I continue staring at her. “I was thinking about my parents.” I still don’t believe her. Why is she lying to me? I crease my brows, a frown forming on my forehead as I stare keenly at her. I open my mouth to ask her not to lie to me again but then I decide to play along with her instead. Clearing my throat, I walks towards my king-sized bed, getting comfortable as I fall to my back on it. “Do you miss them?” I ask, a faint smirk on my face she can’t see. A silly question I know, but I’m bored and stressed and need someone to taunt. “I do.” She answers simply. I can hear the pain in her voice. I should probably stop, but I have a thing for hurting peop
DAMON’S POV*midnight*I’m lost in thought, still in the meeting room when suddenly, I hear the bells ringing in a way that tells me there’s trouble. My wolf senses go wild as I get up from my chair with determination to find out what the hell is going on. When I reach the hallway leading to the throne room, I meet Ryder and Colton on the way with the same confused expression on their faces. “What the hell is going on?” Colton asks seriously as they both approach me. This is one thing I love about my brother, Colton. If his people are in danger, he will stop at nothing to protect them. “Master!” Some guards approach us at full speed. They look like they saw a ghost.“Speak. Now!” I command.“The slavery organization was apparently attacked master. It was the vampires Master. They took humans. The slavery organization’s pet master knows more about what happened. He awaits you in the throne room.”My eyes almost bulge out of my skull at the news. Vampires? In the werewolf nation? And
DAMON’S POV “So? What do we do?” Colton asks impatiently as soon as the last person walks out the door. I let out a deep sigh and take a seat, massaging my forehead. “What do we do Damon?” Colton insists irritating me a little. “I don’t know Colton.” I say sounding defeated. “I’m trying to think.” “Well while you’re trying to think, the vampires who attacked us must have arrived at their hideout by now. They have humans now and they won’t be stupid enough to kill them. They’ll keep them alive to feed from them which means they have an unlimited supply of blood now. And if the Vampire lord is still alive, I hope you see the problem this poses for us Damon.” He asserts. “Don’t you think I know that Colton?” I reply uninterestedly as I keep massaging my forehead trying to think of a way to solve this mess. “I say we attack. We shouldn’t wait for the vampire Lord to get strong enough to attack us first. I say we take the fight to him and defeat him. Just like last time. We even have
DAMON’S POVHer hands are small. Too small. After all what she’s been through you would think her palms should be as hard as a rock. But they feel like cotton on the back of my neck. I started asking Morgana to massage me after a month of having her as a pet.She hesitated the first few times, probably by how repulsed she gets when she’s close to me. She does it naturally now, not because she’s comfortable being around me now.I think she likes to fantasize about all the ways she would like to hurt me. I can see it in her eyes. Her hands are soft on my skin but her facial expressions say something completely different. She hates me, as she should. Her massages are something I’ve gotten used to. They do nothing to ease the pain in my muscles though. Her hands are too soft for that. It has just become a routine for me now.I speak rudely to her not because I want to, but because that’s how a master should treat their pet. I don’t gain any pleasure from seeing humans in pain anymore, es
