I forgot how massive this castle was. I’ve been walking for a few minutes now and I still haven’t reached the underground dungeon where we keep our vampire slaves. The vampires that we use to make our serum.
Yep, that is the werewolf nation's biggest secret. The secret to how the werewolves became the most dangerous, feared and strongest creatures in the world. The answer is vampire blood. If my dad were here he would laugh at how ironic this all is.
The same people who would have taken over us and used us as slaves are the same people who saved us. I have no idea how the biology of all of it works. That is all up to our scientist. All I know is, the serum made from vampire blood mixed with our werewolf DNA gives birth to something amazing.
This is the key to our rule which is why the humans are so important to us. We need them to feed the vampires so we can use their blood to produce more serum. Just a single bottle of serum requires blood from fifty vampires. But that’s enough because just one drop of that serum is all what a werewolf needs to be more dominant and ferocious for about a week or two.
After a few more steps I reach the underground dungeons. It’s massive and only a select few know about what happens down here. This is where we keep majority of the vampires we captured from the war. The others are kept at the slavery organization to carry out insignificant tasks.
There are hundreds of vampires trapped in cages, huge chains around their necks and ankles. As I walk through the long hallway looking from cage to cage, I twist my face in disgust as I look at their horrible appearances. Creatures of the night, blood sucking demons. They look dried up from the lack of blood in their system. Some of them barely even able to move.
These creatures are not supposed to exist, they are not a natural occurrence. They are the product of witchery. Before we knew it, they spread like a wildfire, like a virus and took over the earth. Mother nature would be proud of me for putting them down like this.
They disgust me.
I walk past their cages and into another room filled with vampires who have tubes inserted into their necks. This is where we collect their blood.
“How much have you been able to collect so far?” I ask the guard in charge next to me in a serious tone.
“Not nearly enough Alpha. They haven’t been fed in weeks. They barely have any blood left in their system.” He explains and I nod simply.
I turn in my tracks to get the hell out of this underground. It reeks of vampires which is the most disgusting smell a werewolf can be around considering that our senses are heightened. I came down here to check our progress with the blood collection.
It’s slower than I thought. There was barely anything flowing out of them. In about a month, if the new rules I set are properly obeyed, the humans would be healthy enough for us to use them as blood supply for the vampires. Which is why it is very important that the population heeds to the new rules I set.
The humans would probably only hate us more when they realize that the only reason we’re giving them special treatment is so they can have vampires drink their blood but I don’t care. We need more serum. As Colton mentioned, the vampire lord may still be alive. He might be preparing an attack and he has all the time in the world since the vile creatures don't age. Werewolves age pretty slowly too but vampires are basically immortal unless their heads are cut off. I clearly remember cutting off the vampire Lord's head but i'm not dumb enough to ignore rumours.
If he ever decides to attack, considering he is still alive, then we need to be prepared.
I leave the underground and make my way to a secret room. The laboratory where we keep our scientist. Two guards unlock the door and push it open giving way to a mad scientist's lair. Test tubes, round bottom flasks and equipment properly set up in a way only the scientist can understand.
The blond twenty year old boy startles at the sound of the door opening. He immediately bows when he spots me, greeting me with submission.
I walk slowly over to him, a little bit irritated that he hasn’t been able to produce anymore serum for a while, even if it's hardly his fault. The vampire blood he has isn't enough.
“Stand up Warren.” I say to the blond human and he rises, his head still facing his feet as he refuses to make eye contact with me.
I feel him tremble as I circle him, probably scared that I’m going to punish him for his incompetence.
“You know how important your work is to the werewolves, don’t you Warren?” I ask still circling him. I know it’s not his fault he hasn’t been able to produce any more serum given the fact that he needs a large amount of vampire blood to produce just a bottle.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to scare him anyways, give him some motivation.
“Yes Master.” He answers shakily, sweat dripping from his forehead in fear.
“We give you all the comfort, space, time, food you need so you can be healthy enough to get work done don’t we Warren?” I ask, this time stopping in my tracks behind him.
“Yes master.” He answers again, his voice coming out in cracks.
“So can I know why you haven’t been able to get any work done in a year? Mmh?” I make my voice intentionally deeper and deadlier as I make my way to stand in front of him.
“The blood alpha. I need more blood before I can start with the production. If I use the blood we have now, the effect of the serum would be reduced. It wouldn’t be as powerful and it’ll last only a few days. You asked for something stronger, which is why I need a higher concentration of vampire blood. I just need forty more liters of vampire blood and I can start with the production. The serum I make this time will be able to last for a whole month. Just one drop and you’ll be the most powerful creature to ever exist.”
He says his last sentence with a louder voice, trying to sweet talk me. If only he knew I’m not in the slightest angry at him. I just want to scare him. People tend to respond best to displays of violence.
“I see.” I state, as I make my way towards the door.
“You’ll have your forty liters of vampire blood in a month. I hope there won’t be anymore excuses when the time comes.” I say as I walk out of the laboratory.
NARRATORThe war was finally over. And though it was hard for everyone, they all found a way to cope. After Damon’s death, Morgana decided she would use her grief to make herself stronger. She hadn’t yet realized the amount of work that had to put in after a war was over. They had to build new houses. Plant crops, tend to the wounded. But Morgana, Colton, Ryder and Robert took it all with their heads raised high. When so many people are counting on you, Morgana realized, the only option you have is to be strong. Morgana thrived. The werewolf nation thrived as Ryder was names the new Alpha. It was normally supposed to be Colton because he was the beta and next in line, but they all agreed Ryder was more suitable for the title. After all Ryder was more intelligent that Colton was when it came to matters as such. Ryder was more compassionate and just generally a better person, Colton concluded. And although, Colton is a better person today, he still needs a lot of work before he can f
DAMON’S POVI knew this would happen. Sooner or later, I knew all my sins would catch up to me. I have hurt too many people. Killed too many people and I deserve this. Evil should not have a place in this world. A world which contains someone as beautiful as Morgana. She was the light to my darkness. She is everything I ever hoped for. Although it was short-lived, I adored every moment spent with her. She came into my life and taught me something powerful, something that changed my entire life’s trajectory. In a cruel, and wicked world, she taught me a better way to live. She taught me how to love. I couldn’t believe it first, when my feelings for her were reciprocated with such a willingness to forgive me. I was almost tempted to take back everything I said to her because I didn’t feel I deserved her. She was too much light for me and I was scared my darkness would poison her. I still have no idea how she was ever able to forgive me for what I did to her. I still cannot believe th
MORGANA’S POVMy mother said there is no way to save Damon. I must have been in the spirit realm for a few hours comparting it to the human world. I feel so useless, so desperate for anything. Anything that can help Damon. I wasn’t sure about Chloe said because it felt so unreal so I even consulted her mother and she assured me that Chloe’s curse on Damon was real. She sent me back and urged me to say my goodbyes to him before it’s too late. I have no idea why everyone is so determined to give up. they just expect me to let Damon die? Without trying every single thing I can to save him? How can they even expect me to do that?I didn’t realize how dark it had gotten. How far I had gone away. And then it hits me. All what happened during the day suddenly hits me like a tsunami. Damon is going to die and I should be with him right now. I should be spending the last moments I have with him but here I am, looking for a cure that doesn’t exist.I just can’t accept this and I don’t know if I
MORGANA’S POVAs soon as Chloe closes her eyes, she vanishes in the same exact way that the deity did. She turns into ash on the ground and vanishes as the wind carries her ashes away and Warren screams into the ground with the most agonizing wail I have ever heard.“You killed her. You fucking killed her!” He screams at me standing up from the ground and pointing his index finger angrily at me.“All she wanted to do was get justice and you killed her Morgana.” Warren falls to his knees. “Why did you kill her?” He sobs and falls to his knees to the ground.I can tell he has no fight in him anymore. He knows everything is over now and he knows he has lost. Putting up a fight will be foolish of him. Besides, I am not in the mood to have small talk with him or fight with him about something we have spoken about a million times. A crowd of werewolves and humans walks towards us from the castle shouting and roaring cheers of victory, already celebrating the freedom that we very much now h
MORGANA’S POVWhen the bright light clears, I see Chloe standing in the distance way outside the castle gates. I stare down at my hands in disbelief, unable to get it through my head that I was able to send her off that far. I guess I’m stronger than I thought. If I can keep her out of castle grounds then I won’t hold back. I’ll be able to use as much of my magic as I want to.“I’m going to go after Chloe.” I scream at the top of my lungs to the boys who are busy fighting off and knocking out the werewolves under Chloe’s control.Damon tries to come with me but I shake my head and he frowns. I want him to be with his brothers right now. They may be strong but the werewolves are numerous and Colton and Ryder will need all the help they get.He runs towards me desperately as if I would evaporate if he didn’t get to me fast enough. He breathes heavily and punches a werewolf in the face that came after him. He grabs my face and plants a strong kiss on my lips. I taste sweat and dirt and l
MORGANA’S POVWhat Damon and I saw when we finally got into his room isn’t at all what we were expecting. My hope was that we would see Chloe sitting on a chair nearby with that evil smile on her face waiting for us and I would send the signal to Colton and Ryder to start making preparations to open the gates. But when we walked in the only person we saw was Warren and I could not believe my eyes. The person standing in front of us right now looks like Warren, but if Warren felt dark before, he feels darker even now.I want to launch for him and rip is head of his neck but I hesitate, because I have no idea what Chloe has done to him. it is very clear from the aura coming off him that Chloe has messed with him even more because he feels so powerful and I can tell Damon has sensed it too because he places himself slightly in front of me.We don’t know what Warren is capable of right now and charging towards him blindly can turn out to be fatal so we need to be smart about this and calc
