Days passed painfully slow, leaving DeLorna in total breakdown and loneliness. Since the night in the woods, the very night he called her his mate, things unexpectedly changed in her life. And since that very night, she’s been wanting to see him again.
Having felt his warmth, his presence, the urge to have him around her grew. And she doesn’t know why, but the feeling keeps growing every second. That passion and want for him, that desire for pleasure and satisfaction boiled in her inside.
She was fighting it, and it was growing stronger and stronger. She could feel the tingle in her even without him being beside her.
What has he done to her?
Why all these sudden feelings in her??
What’s going on?
Yes, she needs him beside her but this was just beyond her expectations. This was more than she thought. Like her body and soul weren’t in total control of themselves.
What’s happening?
What’s going on with her?

It’s close to a week now since DeLorna last saw him. She’s been asking questions about creatures like him, and just two days ago she learnt he was not a wolf but a lycanthrope. No wonder he made a statement on the first night they met, “I ain’t a wolf.”
DeLorna also went ahead making research about how Lycans communicate with their mates, and she’s been trying the mind-link method since the day of her discovery.
“ Urgh, fu*king answer me. “ She opened her eyes. “ Guess that’s only for the wolves.” She sighed in defeat.
“ I can hear you. “ Said a deep familiar voice from behind.
She stiffened under his voice.
“ You called me.” She slowly turned to him, she wasn’t dreaming, was she?
She didn’t want to express how happy she was to see him, and how successful mind-linking to him actually worked as well.
“ How was that possible?” She asked. “ I almost thought only wolves could do that.”
“ You just did. You called me. “
She darted her eyes to the door, it wasn’t opened. And to the window, it was likewise not opened. How then did he get in? Maybe, it’s time she stops doubting his abilities.
“ I didn’t mean to bother you. Honestly, I was only trying to figure out how the mind-link stuff works. “ She apologized.
He felt it wasn’t necessary but since she was sincere at the words, he nodded in agreement. “ It’s okay. And besides, you aren’t disturbing me.”
Unlike the other times, she would quickly walk him out but she did seem to notice a lot of things in her life had automatically changed without her consent.
She wanted someone to stay with her. She wanted him to stay, and have a little or more chat with him. Work on her feelings and check if she was actually ready for reality.
She didn’t realize how long they have been staring at each other.
He reached out, his hand barely touching her face. He paused, waiting for a reaction. When he didn’t see any, he reached out with both hands and held her face.
“ Do you… still feel scared of me?” He asked.
“ If I do, I wouldn’t have thought of calling you. “ She replied, sincerely.
He takes his hands off her face, walking a few steps away from her.
“ I still have a lot to learn, a lot to work on. I don’t think I am ready for you, I am not yet the perfect guy you hope for. “ He said, a hint of sadness sounding in his voice. “ I have never been in love with anyone, the journey is a lot tougher than I expected. I will have to work on myself first. “
“ No one is perfect, not even I. We all have so much to learn about the life, about love but that hasn’t stopped us from being what we are and doing what we want. And besides, I wasn’t complaining. “
He looks at her again. “ Why? After all these I did, all those lives I took away, the bloodshed, yet you accepted me. Even though you just barely know who I am.”
She walks close to him and shyly places her hand on one cheek. “ At first, you came to me in the middle of the night. You spoke to me and you told me I was your mate. I was scared, I didn’t want to accept fate because it wasn’t what I hoped for. But then, I realized that no matter what, I can never change what destiny holds for us.
I know, I am still working on my feelings for you but… I don’t hate you anymore. I just want you to be the good man I wish for. I want you to be happy without thinking of who’s next to kill.”
“ I don’t think I can find happiness. “ He said coldly.
“ Don’t… say that. “
“ I have to. “ He walks away.
DeLorna sighed.
“ I have to. You don’t deserve me.”
“ I do.” She didn’t know when it slipped out of her lips.
He looks at her, taking it off almost immediately. “ I have to go.”
“ Wait.” He stops. “ Please, don’t. At least not yet. “
“ I killed, okay! I killed those people because I was foolish and stupid and I thought I was gonna have what I wanted. Every single night I close my eyes, I can’t help but feel tormented. Those people, their screams are like they are all in my head. And I can’t sleep because they are up here. “ He points at his head. “ I already promised myself I would do whatever it takes to see you smile, I wouldn’t want to be the reason for your sadness. “
“ There is time for everything. A time to be happy, and a time to be sad. Whatever makes you happy will make me happy, whatever makes you sad, likewise will make me sad.” She walks to his front. “ You need to stop blaming yourself for your mistakes, the past is gone, those people are gone and there is nothing you can do about it.
All I want is to love and to be loved. But for so many questions I can’t answer, I find myself accepting every bit of you. “ Touches his cheek again. “ Let me help you. “ She pulls him into her embrace, “everything is gonna be alright. I promise.”
“ We’ll figure out a way to make it up to each other.” She breaks the hug.
Their stare was like an eternity as no one wanted to look away. He reached out and casually tucked out a strand of her hair behind her ear, and without meaning to, she sucked in a breath, leaning into his touch.
His brow cleared, and his eyes turned to a honeyed fire as they drifted down to her lips. It was like her body was this traitor, acting without her brain’s permission.
Especially considering what you were thinking earlier, that annoying voice tries to interject. Are you seriously going to let hormones get the best of you when there are important things to consider?
But when Jeff deeps his head down and pressed his lips to hers, his rough stubble scratching against her chin in the most delicious way, her brain shut up entirely.
His hands wrapped around her waist, clinching her to him. At first, she felt scared, she didn’t want to return the kiss back.
He noticed this, making a pause. Then she slightly opened her mouth, and he kissed her lower lip. She kissed him back.
She did kiss him back. And she puts her hands in his hair, feeling the silken strands between her fingers.

And if heartbeat could be measured, DeLorna’s own was gonna blow up the metre.Today was a day when was gonna be marked. The very day she would be going to the place he had promised to show her.Her mother was staying at home, so she couldn’t leave without informing her. She contemplated how she was going to explain it all to her mother. She thought of keeping it a secret and sneaking out of the house, but Ariana and Jide keeps convincing her to tell her mother.“ Mom, there’s something I wanna talk to you about. I know it’s gonna sound pretty weird and when I say weird, I meant weird-weird.”“ Come on, Harmonie, you know I do love weird things.” She said.“ Really?” She asked to be sure. “ You serious about that? Cos I don’t want you freaking out when I tell you this.”“ Don’t worry, I can cope with it.”“ Well, first of all, I wanna tell you that I ain’t the same again.” She started. “ A lot has happened to me in the past few days now and, I know I haven’t been a good daughter becau
After a minute or two Jefferson transformed back into his human form and looked at DeLorna."How do you feel now?" He asked with a smile on his face."It's kinda painful at first but it stopped hurting after a minute or two," DeLorna replied."Yeah, that's how it's supposed to feel," Jefferson replied smiling."I can feel the connection between our souls. Your fears, anger, happiness, sadness, and all other emotions I can feel. I can feel your strength. I can also feel myself becoming stronger. I can also hear your inner thoughts if you concentrate well," DeLorna said.Jefferson smiled and didn't say anything. He knew this was bound to happen. He could also feel his strength rising at a level he didn't expect. What surprised him most was the human before him who also said she felt stronger. He couldn't understand why she became stronger when she was only a human.DeLorna who was still lying on the rocky table tried to stand up.Immediately after she did that she felt pain seeping thr
Some minutes later a large figure appeared in front of a room. It was Jefferson in his lycanthrope form with DeLorna in his arms.Immediately he changed back to his human form because the entrance to the room was small for only a human. After changing to his human form Jefferson walked into the room looking around. The room was a large one painted white. There was a king-sized bed by the left side of the room and a wardrobe. There was also a toilet and bathroom inside the room. The room was designed luxuriously. But Jefferson was already used to these luxuries as he walked and placed DeLorna on the bed.He looked at her peaceful face before smiling. He used his hands to gently part away her hair covering her face. He was so attracted to her red lips that he couldn't help but bend a little and kiss the lips.Immediately he kissed her lips, he could see a smile on her face. It was as if she was having a good dream. Seeing this he smiled and walked to the wardrobe to get dressed. Some mi
"I said I have found my mate," Jefferson replied slowly."Hun! Your mate?" Abigail looked surprised."Yeah, my mate. Is there anything wrong with it?" Jefferson replied."No, it just sounded funny to me. You and I both know we've been cursed by the moon goddess never to find our mate," Abigail replied."Cursed!" Jefferson frowned.Abigail laughed seeing Her brother's confused face. "That's not what I mean. What I mean is that all these days you've been looking for your mate, you've never met her and now you are telling me you've found your mate." She replied."Anything wrong with it?" Jefferson asked. He was wondering why his sister was behaving this way.He had expected her to be happy when she heard the news that he found his mate but here she was. He didn't know if maybe she was happy or not. He couldn't read her emotions. No matter how he tried he had never been able to read his sister's emotions on her face as she always kept an expressionless face."Is she a human or a supernatu
Inside Jefferson's room. DeLorna was sleeping soundly inside the room. On her face was a smile that showed she was enjoying her sleep. She occasionally turned around on the bed while squeezing the quilt on her body tightly.Suddenly the smile on her face changed to a frown. The frown became deeper and deeper and deeper until it turned into a frightening expression. Some minutes later DeLorna screamed as she sat on the bed while holding the quilt tightly. Her heart pounded heavily that it could be heard and her breathing was irregular."What was that just now?" She muttered.Though she wasn't able to have a clear glimpse of it. It scared the hell out of her.Suddenly screams and yells from people outside the room DeLorna was brought back to her senses.Immediately she jumped out of the bed.Immediately her legs touched the ground, a smearing pain spread through her entire body, and she could not help but fall back to the floor.DeLorna gritted her teeth as she managed to stand up with
Soon a fierce fight was ignited between the two figures. The lycanthrope seemed to have the upper hand and was trashing the creature.Suddenly Jefferson in his lycanthrope form made a mistake and the creature used the opportunity to grab him by his neck, throwing him away. The creature didn't leave a breathing chance for Jefferson and disappeared toward him. Lifting him with a hand he threw him over again after raining some punches on him.DeLorna watched on in horror as this happened. She wanted to help but she was too weak to do so. There was no strength in her body. When she tried to stand up the pain would come back and cruise through her body and the headache would suddenly come back again. She could only watch as the creature trashed Jefferson.Suddenly the creature grabbed Jefferson and threw him across the distance.DeLorna watched in horror as the lycanthrope flew across the distance. What made her cringe was that there was a harp pole right where he was going to land. She wa
DeLorna frowned hearing the reply of the strange figure that barged into the room."Who are you?" She asked again."As I have always said. Humans are brainless and spineless Individuals," the figure replied walking closer to DeLorna.DeLorna sat on the bed confused. She wondered what she had done to offend the figure. Though she was sure the figure was a female. She tried to make out the figure's features but it was too dark and she couldn't see anything."Who do you think you are? Coming into my brother's life and claiming you are his mate." The figure continued after some time.Unknown to DeLorna the figure was only a few meters away from her.Immediately DeLorna understood all that was happening. The figure she couldn't make out its features was Jefferson's sister. But she didn't know if she was his elder or younger sister. Also, he never mentioned having a sister or anything."It was your brother who came into my life himself and told him I was his mate," DeLorna replied boldly.A
DeLorna who couldn't breathe well because of the murderous intent suddenly felt it disperse and she gasped for breath. She looked by her side and noticed that the female was at the edge of the bed. The figure had red hair flowing down her back like a peaceful lake. Her face was flawless and there were some traces of water on it. Her blue eyes shone brightly. The figure looked like Jefferson. The resemblance was obvious that she guessed right away that the figure that had been talking to her all along was her mate's sister. Though she had already thought so she wasn't sure and was just speculating. She looked over to the door and saw Jefferson standing by the door looking at his sister.Jefferson, who had cut off the mind link after telling his mate he would be back soon, suddenly frowned. He could sense danger. Though the feeling was strong he felt something was wrong but decided to ignore the feeling. After some minutes the feeling came back. This time he couldn't endure it and stood
