I laid in bed digesting all what Chris had said earlier. He was right though maybe I shouldn't even be searching for a job when I already have a place in my dad's company, but at the same time, he is the reason I'm in this mess; The forced marriage.
The next morning, as usual, my alarm woke me up. I yawned as I stretched. Chris was still laying there. I resisted the urge to wake him up to prepare for work.
I got up to wash my face, but by the time I was back, he was already up.
“Don't you have work today?” I asked.
“Nope… Today's my day off” he muttered, rubbing his eyes with the back of his palms.
I sat at the edge of the bed, tying my hair into a ponytail.
“Anywayyyy, we should have a couple's day. We've never had one” Chris said. I raised a brow.
“Whatever it is you're trying to do, it's not gonna work!” I said. He stood up and came over to the side of my bed.
“See…” He breathed in.
“I know I've done numerous terrible things. I am trying to make this work” he continued. He grabbed my hands, I jerked them away.
“ I understand I never treated you the way I should, and I'm trying to amend thin…" I cut him off.
“It's too late to amend anything. You killed my innocent child” I closed my eyes, rubbing my belly softly.
“You ruined my life. At this point, I still don't even understand what my dad saw in you” I continued.
“ Can we just attempt to work this out before next month, but then if it doesn't work out we go on with the divorce papers."? He looked at me, but I looked away, staring at our well-designed walls. The color combination was top-notch, whoever designed them was too good with his works.
“Are you even listening to me?” Chris's voice ordered me back into reality.
“I'm sorry…" I shook my head.
“It's okay. So, I was saying, how about I take you out officially for a dinner date. Just the both of us for the first time?” He said with a small smirk.
“ It doesn't change the fact that we're still carrying on with the divorce papers when it's ready, ” I responded.
“We'll see about that. That's a yes, right? You better don't be late” with that he stood up and walked downstairs.
I sat there completely frozen. For the first time in two years, I wasn't scared of my husband's presence. I took a deep sigh and followed him downstairs. Whatever this man has in mind, I hope he's aware I'm not falling for any of it.
The rest of the day continued in silence. I was reading books to keep myself busy. I spoke with my mom for a bit and also watched some TV shows.
“By the time I'm out of the bathroom, you better be done preparing” Chris had informed me before entering the bathroom. I was confused about what to wear. I wanted to avoid dressing too expensive yet, I would rather not look too simple.
“Uh, uh! That's where the red dress comes in” I muttered to myself as I brought it out. I did a simple makeup and applied lip gloss and I grabbed a matching purse.
Few minutes later, Chris came in with a messy hair and wet body. He had the towel wrapped around his waist. My gaze traveled from his messy hair down to his wet body. At this point, I wondered if girls outside look at him the way I'm looking at him right now and thought he was hot because damn he's fire! Our eyes met. I felt embarrassed. He looked like he was already reading through my thoughts.
“You look beautiful” he complimented. I just smiled back.
The restaurant was peaceful and calm. It smelt expensive. I walked hand in hand with Chris while I endured all the stares. We ordered for different meals. I would randomly steal gazes at Chris while I watched him enjoy his dinner noiselessly. We didn't speak much, but we would randomly lock eyes.
“ What the heck?!” He exclaimed as soon as we got out of the restaurant.
“What's going on?” I asked seemly, a bit concerned. He stared at his phone and back at me again. I was losing it at this point. I hate suspense.
“ Lucas's birthday is today. I can't believe I forgot!” He responded as he scratched the back of his head. I was confused as to who Lucas was. He noticed it and quickly added, " He's my colleague at work”.
“I could still make it to his birthday, but can you get home yourself?” He asked.
“Are you insane????” I responded.
“It's late already. I'll come with you” I answered.
His worried face beamed into a small smile, like I just said exactly what he wanted to hear. I got into the car and we drove off.
The party was lively. Chris kept introducing me to his colleagues who were around. It was a nice experience as they kept complimenting me and all that.
“If this isn't my main guy!” A voice said from behind us as we both turned abruptly.
“My guy!” Chris chuckled as they both clashed their hands for a shake.
“I knew you'll make it here. I'm so glad” At this point I knew this was no other person than the mighty Lucas.
“This is my wife, Aria” Chris spoke.
“Aria… This is my colleague I've been talking about; Lucas” Lucas smiled and brought out his hand for a shake as I shook them.
“It's pleasant to finally meet you, Aria” Lucas said. His voice was a lot deeper. He was a very tall man.
“Chris has been telling me so much about you” he quickly added.
“Really?” I smirked. My gaze turned to Chris.
“I'm joking… I almost thought he was single all these while” Lucas said amidst laughter as we all joined him.
After all the drama, Lucas excused himself, leaving Chris and me together.
“Okay, I want you to sit right here, I'll be back in a minute. I have some catch-ups to do” Chris informed me as I nodded.
I brought out my phone and began surfing through the net until a masculine voice approached me.
“Are you alone, pretty?” My eyes met the voice. He looked scary with tattoos all over his body and a nose ring. In his left hand, he had a glass of liquor the other hand, he had a stick of cigarette.
“ No… Actually… I came with someone” I managed to say. He was slightly drunk, and I was scared.
“But he is not here right now, right?” He asked. My eyes searched around for Chris, but I couldn't find him. I got up, but he dragged me back to the seat and touching me inappropriately. I pushed him away.
“Stay away from her!” someone ordered. I turned around, it was a familiar voice. Chris.
The stranger raised his hands up in defense. “Chill bro. I didn't know she was your girl” then he walked away. I looked back at Chris. He was totally pissed. We stood there until the man disappeared.
“Can you imagine?” He finally looked at me, pointing at the direction the stranger went. I didn't say a thing. I was just glad that Chris was able to make it here on time.
“Let's go home” He grabbed my hands and led me out.
“Thank you for coming to me. I don't know what I would have done,” I said, trying to break the silence between us. “Could you believe that sonafabitch?” He replied as he turned to me. He seemed a little pissed off.“I'm sorry I even had to take you to somewhere like that” he said. At this time, he didn't look piss anymore. He looked rather concerned.“Okay” I muttered. The rest of the ride home continued in complete silence. By the time we got home, I was exhausted. He made us bath together, and then we got in bed.“I want to eat you out, tonight, "he said with a small smirk. “You seem a bit tired. Leave it to me” he crawled over to me. I smiled. Maybe I could really use this right now. He spread out my laps. I helped pull down my panties. The pleasure was immersed. This was the first time my husband really made me feel this good. I let out a soft moan.I woke up the next morning feeling much better. My husband was still asleep at that time. We were literally facing each other. I
Chris phone rang. It was four in the freaking morning. Who on earth calls someone at this time?“Chris… Your phone” I mumbled with closed eyes. He picked up the phone, there were already people wailing in the background.“Could it have had anything to do with Lucas?” I thought.“Lucas is gone…” Chris's voice trailed off.“What? How come?” I was confused. How can Lucas, someone I met full of energy days ago, just die like that?“He tried to commit suicide. He was suffering from depression. He took pills, but they were able to rush him to the hospital. Sadly, he couldn't make it"I closed my eyes, digesting all what Chris had said. I know I had just met him just once, but he was a really sweet and funny guy. Occasionally, we don't even know what people are battling with until we have a deep conversation with them.“Chris… I'm sorry. May his soul find rest” I adjusted myself to him until we were just an inch apart and without saying a word, I pulled him into a hug. He hugged me even tigh
WRITER'S POINT OF VIEW As soon as work was over, Chris got to his car. Normally, when Lucas was still alive, he would drive Lucas home every day to a point he made it routine. Now, staring at the empty seat, it just brought back plenty of memories. Jessica walked down to Chris full of smiles. “Not again” He mumbled under his breath. “What do you want, Jessie?” He asked as she stood there with folded arms. “We need to talk, Christopher” she replied with a pout. “In somewhere quiet. I know an exact spot” Jessica quickly added. “You don't ever quit, do you?” He frowned. “Just this last time and I'd never bother you again, I promise” She said. The club was pretty lousy and crazy. Everyone were dancing and having a good time. “This is my favorite place to hang out whenever I feel blue or lonely” Jessica said after they grabbed a chair. “So why are we here? What is it that was so important that we needed to talk about?” Chris asked, ignoring all what she had said while he wat
Mom drove me home and surprisingly, I wasn't expecting to meet my dad because he's a busy person, but there he was sitting on the couch watching whatever that pleased him.“You never told me I was going to meet dad,” I whispered to my mom.“I know” She laughed.“ It was a surprise. He has plenty of things to say to you” My mom added. My dad's face beamed with a small smile when he saw me. My dad hasn't changed much, just the little wrinkles on his face here and there and the gray hair. I dropped the luggage right there and breathed a sigh of relief. My mom quickly summoned one of the maids to help drag the luggage to my old room. I haven't been in this house in the past two years plus.“Heyy” I said coldly as I took a seat.“Welcome home, my pixie, "My dad with a grin.“Don't call me that. WRITER'S POINT OF VIEWIt was a stressful week for Chris, having to move on from Aria, selling off his house, resigning from his job as he moved out to another city completely. Sometimes not everything was meant to work out, and the same applied to his marriage to Aria. Chris leaned on his back trying to apply for work online, but it wasn't fruitful. His phone rang as I glimpsed at the screen. It was an unknown number.“Hello, Chris” a female's voice greeted.“Hello” he responded, trying to figure out who was on the call with him.“Why ain't you taking my calls or texts? The security man wouldn't even let me in” At this point he realized it was Jessica. “Doesn't she get tired after ruining my marriage and sending those videos clips to Aria after setting me up?” He thought angrily.“I warned you never to call me again, and by the way, how did you get my contact?” Chris questioned as she laughed mischievously.“I always have my ways, Chris. You've forgotten” She finally responded. “
Before Aria's parents got there, she was already rushed to the intensive care unit because she was badly injured.“Are you the victim's parents?” The doctor asked, as Aria's mom nodded, she was panting heavily. Her dad tried as much to be calm, but he was also scared for his daughter's life. She needed an emergency brain surgery because she had intense brain injury, so her parents gave the go ahead.“Will she wake up afterward?” Her mom asked slowly. The doctor looked down and back at her.“ I can't guarantee that, ma'am. This is a 50/50 thing but even if she does make it alive, she'll experience memory loss but all the same, let's pray for her” And with that, he walked away. “I don't know what I'd do if we ever loose Aria” Her mom muttered as she collapsed her head on her husband's shoulder.“She'll be fine. Right now, she needs us to be strong for her, okay?” Aria's dad, Patrick, assured his wife, rubbing her back softly.*************CHRISTOPHER'S POINT OF VIEWThe wedding went a
Jessica's' POVI kept on trying my husband's phone number, but he wasn't picking his calls. I was beginning to get worried because he's never stayed this late without returning home. “I'm sorry for keeping you worried. I just had a busy schedule at work today” that was his response as soon as the home.Furthermore, I noticed he wasn't looking like his normal self, he wouldn't even look at me.“What's wrong, baby?” I questioned softly. He stared at me for a long time like he was trying to think, then he fell back on the bed staring blankly at the ceiling.“You remember this morning when you caught me staring at my phone, and you asked me what's wrong?” I nodded curiously. “It was about Aria. She was involved in a ghastly car accident, and she's been hospitalized for days now…" My face beamed with a smirk. Now, things were falling in place, and everything was working in my favor. You can't put her to rest. She's not dead yet, she's still breathing, she's still fighting, can't you see?” That was Chris's response when Aria's dad broke the news to him.“I think she's fought enough.
