Forty-Six

Each step I took was a battle as I stumbled through the doorway; the pain sliced through my chest, and I had to stop the bleeding.

It was almost 3:00 AM. My housemates were sound asleep, and everywhere was silent—or so I thought.

The thick blood pooled at my feet, causing my vision to waver. A frightening chill went down my spine when I remembered the evil werewolves I had just fought and how it was a miracle to have escaped them—all for Chadwick.

I hated the stream of blood staining the tiled floor because I was already dizzy, and I didn't want to cause Harrison and Carmen to panic.

Cursing under my breath, I headed to the bathroom for the first aid kit when I almost stumbled upon seeing Carmen perched on the couch with her laptop, working away.

Shit!

When she glanced up, her face morphed into a concerned frown. "Why are you sneaking into the house? You're an adult and can come and go as you please as long as you're safe."

Swallowing the pain, I could only manage a nod and a faint sm
