Cana POV

“You look beautiful, Mia said softly as she touched the veil on my head. I smiled at my beautiful reflection. “Thank you,” I replied, beaming with a smile.

She smiled at me “You are welcome Cana, soon to be Mrs Axel, Luna of the Manhattan Park.” she said, giving me a mocking bow with a smile.

I laughed as a pink hue covered my cheek at the thought of being Axel's wife, my long-time crush. It was a dream come true.

I slowly inhaled the cool air that came from the air conditioner and my fingers shook as I adjusted the white dress I wore. The material of the wedding gown was so beautiful. I touched the diamond necklace he had given me as my wedding present.

An overwhelming feeling rushed through me. I can't believe that this day is finally here. Ever since I had discovered that Alex loved me, my joy had increased with every passing day.

I turned to my other friends who were in the room smiling at me. They had been helping me to dress up “Awwn she is blushing,” Mirabel said with a smile.

I covered my cheeks “Stop it” I replied shly. They had not missed any given opportunity to tease me.

Mia cupped my cheeks “Why should we. Is this not a dream come true for you?” she asked me.

I nodded, tears of joy filled my eyes. “Yes,” I whispered slowly.

Her lips widened with a smile. She took my hands and gave them a tight squeeze. Tears of joy filled her eyes too.

She knew how much this marriage meant to me. She had been with me from the start of my love story when I had a crush on him.

I thought he was never going to accept me because my wolf was a weak one but then the moon goddess blessed me by making me his wolf.

At first, he acted as if we were not mates then he came one night professing how he felt about me.

Mia took in a deep shaky breath “Okay, it’s time for you to go downstairs and get married. ”

I took in a shaky breath and walked downstairs with Mia at my back. The guards opened the hall and everyone stood up. I could feel everyone’s eyes on me.

I looked at the crowd. Some smiled at me while some of the young girls glared at me. I shrugged, who would not want to be the wife of Axel?

My eyes finally landed on the Altar, on Axel, my husband-to-be. He stood there smiling at me. He was dressed in black suit trousers and coat. He stared at me with his green eyes and for a moment everything around me slowed down. The hall became quiet and empty, it was just me and him and I was breathing the same hair as him.

I shook off the sensation that crept into me and walked to the Altar. He took my hands and smiled and called my name “Cana”.

I smiled back even though his voice sounded deep with trouble. I rolled off the uneasy feeling. Maybe he was anxious. After all, most people get anxious on their wedding day.

Finally, the priest who was to officiate the wedding got up, he was a wolf in the pack. He cleared his throat “We are gathered here-

“Let.me.in!” A piercing female voice shouted, drawing everyone's attention to the door. The guards opened the door and she entered. Who the hell could this be?

She stood in front of us. She was wearing a black dress and looked very untidy. Her hair was disheveled. Mascara was smeared all over her face as if she had cried a short while back.

I opened my mouth to ask her what happened. Maybe she was in distress and needed the Alpha's help but the next word she said shattered my heart.

“This wedding cannot happen!” she screamed at the top of her lungs, tears streaming down her face.

I furrowed my eyebrows. Axel let go of my hands immediately leaving me with a bad feeling. Why would he let go of my hand at this part of the time and who was ivy to him?

“What do you mean ivy?” I asked her in a calm collected voice even though tension was building up within me.

She glared at me and raised her fingers pointing at Axel as her entire body trembled, and more tears rolled down her cheeks. “Axel, you can't marry her while I am here. I am with your child and you know this!” She shouted.

My jaw dropped, and everyone around me exclaimed. The crowd began to whisper among themselves. I looked at Axel expecting him to rebuke her or try to punish her for trying to ruin his wedding.

“Ivy, I- he began to explain his head bent down.

“ Don't try to give me some flimsy excuses, Axel!” she shouted, her neck veins throbbing. “You promised me Axel. You swore by the moon goddess' name that you are always going to love me! That you will father my child. You can't make her your Luna while I am here” She shouted again. Beads of sweat covered her forehead.

My heart dropped to the depths of my stomach. This can't be true. Axel would not betray me like this. He said he loved me. He asked me to be his wife, his Luna. He said it was a dream come true. That I am her dream partner.

But the Axel who was standing before me was a different one. He was not trying to counter her or anything, instead, he was looking at her, no, staring intensely at her, his eyes filled with emotions.

“Axel” I called him with a low trembling voice that was near breaking.

He took a shaky breath and looked at me. His eyes filled with regret “I am sorry, cana” he said

My eyes widened in disbelief. “Sorry? Axel, are you trying to tell me that what she is saying is true?” I asked, waiting for his reply to either shatter me or give me hope.

His Adam's apple moved up and down. He turned to me “Yes, she is with my child” he replied with a cold voice.

The air became too heavy, my nostrils refused to breathe. Pain bottled around my heart as I tried to control my trembling hands. “And you did not tell me? I thought you said you loved me. I thought you said I was your dream partner?” I asked with a trembling voice.

I can't believe that this is happening to me. To be rejected on my wedding day.

“Oh please, shut the fuck up!” He shouted. I flinched at his sudden outburst, the murmuring around the crowd increased.

He took a step closer “I never loved you, okay? It was just an arrangement between both families. You were just collateral. A business arrangement, and nothing more! Our parents just wanted us” he shouted. The tears I have been holding finally flowed.

I can't imagine that this is the same Axel that I knew. The same man that promised heaven and earth just a day ago.

“What about all the promises?” I asked.

He scoffed and sneered at me “They were all lies, cana. All lies”

My legs weakened immediately, I staggered a little and held on to Mia's hand. Thankfully she was at my back.

My world began to spin as my vision grew blurry. My eyes listened to every word around me.

“Such a pity to be rejected on your wedding day”

“She deserves it”

“How would an Alpha marry a wolfless girl”

“What did she think she was? A princess? That the Alpha would swear loyalty to a pale-looking soul like her”

More harsh words filled my ears, piercing my soul.

This was too much. I can't take it any longer. I took a last glance at Alex and ran away through the file that I came into the hall with.

“Cana!” Mia shouted but I did not stop. There was no need to stop and listen to their mockery.

I ran away from the compound with my wedding gown. Rogues who were not invited gave me a confused look as I ran away. It was so obvious that I was running away from my wedding.

I stopped at a lonely street and slammed my body against the wall breathing heavily. I sat on the ground not minding my dress.

“Wow, looks like we have found a companion for tonight,” a Wolf said.

~Cana’s POV:Hearing the words that had been spoken by Zane’s uncle was like a punch to the gut. For the second time tonight, the sick feeling of betrayal washed over me. I looked between Zane and his uncle, not sure what to say after hearing that Zane was betrothed. I didn’t have anything to say. The man In front of me was a total stranger, except for the times when I caught a glimpse of him visiting the pack house and the well-known fact that he was a Lycan, I knew nothing about him. So, who was I to feel betrayed? “I want her gone,” His uncle hissed. “Uncle Callahan-“ Zane tried to speak up, but his uncle cut him off. “She’s not worth it, Zane. I want her gone and you out in the main parlor as soon as possible.”Callahan, as I now knew his name, glanced once in my direction, throwing me a nasty look that I had too familiar with in less than a day, before storming out. Zane sighed as soon as the door slammed shut and turned to me. “You…have a betroth?” The words rolled off my

After changing into a more presentable outfit, I checked out of the motel with Zane carrying my things. He threw the bags into the trunk of his car and held the door open for him to step in. Although I was still keeping my guard up against him, I whispered words of gratitude under my breath and sat down.Once Zane got behind the wheel, he spoke up. “I know a good restaurant around here,” He turned to face me briefly and said. “Why don’t we go there for breakfast, then I’ll explain.”I didn’t see a problem with that. The faster I found out what he wanted from me, the sooner I would be able to get away from him and start planning my new life. Three whole years of living alone and away from the pack…I wondered how I was going to cope. But I sure as hell wasn’t going to go back and beg them. “Sure,” I nodded. “Let’s do that.”Zane started the engine and drove off. Soon, we arrived at a fancy-looking restaurant. All the buildings around the restaurant towered over it, but the décor and

~Cana’s POV:I sat in the center of the queen-sized bed of a motel, staring absentmindedly at the two cards in front of me. The first was the black card Zane had given me and the second was his business card. But the latter didn’t disturb me as much as the former did. For crying out loud, it was a freaking black card, with an unlimited spending limit. And, imagine the surprise that washed over me when I saw the balance. The numbers were uncountable, unlike anything Axel had ever entrusted to me. This was one of the reasons why this card bothered me so much. Groaning, I allowed my body to fall back onto the bed and curled on my side. ‘All this was too much,’ I silently complained. As if being banished from my pack, being humiliated on my wedding day, and getting rejected by my mate wasn’t enough, the moon goddess had decided to do what? Throw in a little funny trope into my already sad life? Groaning, again, I turned and curled on the other side, seeking a certain amount of comfo

Suddenly, it was snatched from me as Zane made his presence known beside me.He was standing close and he examined my hand with a deep frown. His touch and proximity had me gulping and looking away. And the scent of his pheromone wasn't helping any better. It smelt so sweet, yet masculine that it made me grow red in the cheeks and my wolf wild. "So delicious!" It screamed, wanting to have a piece of where the intoxicating scent was coming from. I couldn't blame her. 'Cana,' I quickly scolded myself. 'Focus on the matter at hand.'As if being reminded by my mind wasn't enough, the whispers of Ivy's cliques soon reached my ears, pulling me back to reality. "I-isn't that Alpha De Luca? Why is he here and...why is he touching that filth?" One of the girls whispered. Her followers were quick to agree. "She's goin

~Axel’s POV:I had just concluded a meeting with the pack elders when Ivy stormed through the front door, looking like she had cried for three hours straight. Her eyes were swollen, her nose red and mascara stained her face, leaving rails of the tears she had shed. Seeing her this way tore at my heart and in seconds, I rushed to her. “My love, what happened? Did you encounter trouble? Talk to me?” I gently rubbed her back as I pulled her into my arms. She sniffled and I held her tight, allowing her to cry and sob into my chest, not caring if her tears stained my white shirt. After a while, she pulled away and I noticed the rage in her eyes.“Who did this to you, baby?”“It was her,” She hiccupped. “Cana,”My fingers froze in place, halting the comforting motion they had been rubbing on Ivy’s back. My eyes narrowed and I felt anger rise within me. “Cana did this? She made you cry?”Ivy nodded. “She humiliated me, Axel. Just because of a simple mistake, she…she had me humiliated and

Lionel leaned back in his chair, his fingers drumming on the polished surface of the conference table. The quiet hum of the room was broken only by the occasional rustle of paper from Larz and Akam, his two closest allies. Both sat opposite him, their postures tense and their eyes expectant. Lionel exhaled slowly.“That’s the plan for now,” Lionel said, his voice low but filled with determination.Larz, the larger of the two, leaned forward, his brow furrowed. “So we just wait? Until she’s... pregnant?”Lionel’s lips twisted into a smirk. “Unfortunately, yes. That’s Axel’s focus right now.”Akam shook his head, his fingers tapping impatiently on the table. “And what about Zane? We all know Axel doesn’t care about him. He’s leaving him to rot, but Zane’s still a problem—for you”Lionel’s smirk widened. “Zane is no longer a problem. He’s a pawn. Broken, desperate, clinging to what little he has left. The sunlight passed through the hospital room windows, casting a soft glow on the e walls. Cana sat on the edge of her bed, the hospital sheets tangled at her feet. She was fully healed, her supernatural abilities healing the wounds overnight. Yet, the bruises on her soul felt raw and unrelenting.Zane’s voice drifted from the hallway as he spoke to the doctor. She strained to catch their conversation, hoping to discern whether her story from the night before had been convincing.“She’s recovering well,” the doctor said. There was a pause, and Cana’s heart raced as if it sensed trouble.“What concerns me,” the doctor continued, “is that her injuries... they appear to be self-inflicted. Zane’s absence was already gnawing at her nerves, but Cana held steady. She could handle Axel; she had faced greater dangers and come out alive. Yet, as soon as the door opened, and Axel stepped into the house, Cana felt her pulse quicken with an unease that she hadn’t anticipated. Cana tried to reach Zane telepathically, stretching her senses to find any trace of his energy. Nothing. It was as if a thick, impenetrable fog blocked her mind. Panic began to claw its way up her spine as Axel took a step closer, his presence filling the room with a predatory calm. With a deep breath, she let her claws emerge. “Axel,” she warned, her voice low and firm. “Get out.”Instead of reacting, Axel smiled, a calm, almost indulgent smile that sent chills racing down her spine. Just before she lunged at him, he let out an invisible wave of Alpha pheromones. The scent hit Cana instantly, disarming her defenses and clouding her mind. She stopped in her tracks, caught off guard by the intoxicating arom

Zane had never felt this powerless. Each day that passed, the emptiness of his bank accounts and the silence from his contacts made the reality hit harder: everything he had built was gone. The wealth, influence, and respect he had taken for granted had been stolen in an instant, leaving him with nothing but the remnants of his former life. No matter how many times he replayed it in his mind, the betrayal by Leno gnawed at him, a deep, festering wound. He knew Leno was the only one who could’ve orchestrated such a calculated attack, but without solid evidence linking him to the transfer, Zane’s hands were tied. Cana tried to offer comfort, but her efforts were bittersweet. She’d offered financial help, and while Zane appreciated her kindness, the thought of depending on her chipped away at his pride. Cana wasn’t just his partner; she was his equal, and he didn’t want her to feel burdened by his downfall. He felt a huge guilt each time she reassured him, knowing that she, too, was af

Cana woke in the morning light, feeling the comforting warmth of Zane’s presence beside her. For a fleeting moment, everything felt normal. She looked over at him, his face softened by sleep, his hand still loosely holding hers. The memories of the previous night lingered—a shared sense of belonging that had finally brought them both some peace. She allowed herself a small, contented smile, savoring the memory of his touch and the quiet they had found together. Reluctantly, she slipped out of bed, careful not to disturb him, and walked to the kitchen. After the chaos of recent days, she wanted to do something simple, something grounding, like cooking breakfast. But as she opened the fridge, a twinge of disappointment set in. It was nearly empty, save for a lonely jug of milk and a few eggs. She checked the cabinets—mostly bare. It was clear that, in the midst of everything with Axel, Zane hadn’t had the chance to stock up. The sound of footsteps stirred her from her thoughts. She lo

Lionel stumbled into the shadowed warehouse, each step scraping along the concrete as blood dripped steadily from his wounds. He reached for his neck, hissing in pain, and then sank into the nearest chair. The memory of Cana’s fierce power—the blackened eyes, the crawling darkness in her veins, and her merciless strength—was burned into his mind. What had happened to her? She was supposed to be weakened, practically broken. Instead, he had narrowly escaped with his life.As he breathed heavily, two hellhounds approached from the far end of the room. Akam’s gaze assessed him with an amused, unimpressed expression, while Larz stood quietly beside him, hands folded as he observed Lionel’s injuries.“Well, well,” Akam said, folding his arms and letting his voice cut through the silence. “You look like you’ve been through hell.”Lionel glared up at him, biting back his retort, though the pain in his body made it hard to keep his calm. “It’s not funny.”Akam shrugged, giving Larz a sidelong
