For the next few days leading to my departure, neither of us spoke with each other. Layla's parents were surprised with this new behavior she put around me but there was little they could do rather than stand at a corner and watch us avoid each other like the plague. It was probably even weirder since we used to be really close in the past and I wouldn't lie, it hurt when she started to avoid me but there was barely anything I could do.

I awkwardly explained to her parents that the reason why she was so mad was because I was leaving. Just like when we were younger and I left for college. They believed me. Really, what choice did they have? She was a mess back then too. Always crying and begging me to stay. It was normal for them to assume they now. Only the two of us knew the real truth and it hurt like a stab to the heart.

So many times I'd try to talk to her but she would just straight up ignore me, pretending to be focusing on something else. But then, I also knew she cried
