Michael POV

The air was heavy with tension as Ava's words hung like a challenge, daring anyone to question her motives. Vincent's gaze faltered, his eyes searching for answers that Ava seemed determined to keep hidden.

"Ava, what's going on?" Vincent demanded, his voice laced with a mix of confusion and anger.

Ava's expression turned resolute, her jaw set in a determined line. "I've made a choice, Vincent. I've protected Ruth, at all costs."

Elijah's eyes narrowed, his face darkening with suspicion. "Ava, you've betrayed us," he accused, his voice low and menacing.

Ava's voice dropped to a whisper, her words barely audible over the pounding of my heart. "I've done what's necessary."

Michael's grip on my arm tightened, his fingers digging into my skin as he pulled me closer. "Ruth, we need to get out of here," he urged, his voice low and urgent.
