FOURTY EIGHT

Ruth's POV

After eavesdropping on John and his mate's conversation, she threatened to leave him unless he chased me out of his pack. I couldn't be the reason for their relationship problems, so I teleported myself out of John's pack without his notice. John had been kind to me since I joined him, treating me like a friend and caring deeply for me.

I teleported back to school, having missed a semester and needing to repeat all my courses. But I didn't mind; I was determined to do my best. As I walked into the school campus, my friends were amazed to see me again after a few months. Emily and Sarah approached me, concerned.

"Hey, Ruth! Where have you been?" they asked.

"Sarah said you know you have a lot to catch up on," Emily added.

"I know, guys," I replied. "But I need my job back, and I'm sorry about what happened last time. Michael found out about my last job, which you guys helped me find, and I almost put you in trouble." I said remorsefully.
