“This is getting so weird!” I hissed, looking at the phone after disconnecting it. Joe sounded desperate. I was afraid that there was no one for them to look after. What about their food or other basic needs? I closed my eyes and tilted my head up, thinking about Martha. She was so enthusiastic about this contract. What caused everything to spiral out of control to the point where everyone deserted my models, leaving them in limbo?

“Should I book their tickets?” Sloane asked.

I nodded. “Yes, please book their tickets and, until further notice, stall every other modeling assignment we have with Martha.”

“But there are some that are in the middle of it,” Pippa argued. “The companies are waiting for us to send relevant photographs of the models.”

“Has Martha paid for them according to the contract?” I asked. She was supposed to pay us fifty percent upfront.
