I left the dressing room with Leo and headed to the first floor.
"We are sorry for just arriving, Mira was stuck with preparing for her assignment." Leo said to Karima before I could even say anything. He defended me quite well there.
The rest of the team were already around and so we had to be on two straight lines and then walked out the moment a convoy arrived at the entrance of the resort.
I swallowed so hard, to totally suppress my anxiety and it was working. "I can do this." I muttered quietly to myself as the climax moment was here. One of the guys stationed at the entrance of the resort opened the door so the VVIP guest could step out and I stepped closer to the door, ready to welcome him. Leo had mentioned to me earlier that we all used to get a profiling on our guests to know the kind of person they were but Karima did not do this time around. The reason, he too could not explain.
Either way, I trusted my long period of rehearsals to not fail me. I was meant to bow at ninety degrees first then raise my head when he was out.
A strong, extraordinary but sweet cologne filled my nostrils as he stepped out. My nostrils became so sensitive all of a sudden like it happened the night I shifted. The scent was choking me but I maintained my composure. My eyes fell on black, well polished shoes and as I raised my head, I assessed him. Carton brown three-piece suit with a white inner shirt.
I was already prepared to see this young, VIP guest's face and then I saw a sharp, well-shaped face with dark brown eyes and a silky black, styled hair.My pupils quivered when I took in his look. 'This guy...' My brain took me back down the memory lane to remember where I had seen him then it dawned on me. My heart sank immediately and I shivered unnoticeably.
I did not even realize I was staring at his face now without saying anything. He was the guy from the pool a few days ago, the one that strangely disappeared within a few minutes.
Or was I mistaken? There's no way I was. I was so torn and I did not get it together until I heard, "Mira!" in my head. It was Karima's voice.Immediately, I got jolted out of my thoughts and put on a broad, insincere smile. "Welcome to Greenville Resort, sir. It's an honour to serve you." I said and bowed again. Then the other team members made way for him to go through and then some guys followed him, they seemed to be securities but one of them particularly was like his personal assistant.
I followed them immediately because I was supposed to take the lead, then some of the team members were behind.
We had him ride in a private elevator to his suite. We got into the expensive and luxurious suite, where there were two big and grand living rooms, a dining room and a bedroom. The other team members, except for Karima and Leo followed me with him into the suite. His guards stationed themselves at the door while he just went in with his personal assistant.
"Could I have your lunch order, sir?" I asked him but his personal assistant turned around. "No, for now. We will reach out when we need you." He replied, acting and speaking so politely. The VIP guest had his back turned against us and I was still very stunned about him."Alright, sir. We will take our leave now." I announced and when we turned around to leave, I heard a voice say, "Wait."
I was shocked again as I halted my steps. Karima and Leo did the same too. We turned around and realized the guest had said that. He took some strides closer to where I was and just stared at me, shifting me into an uncomfortable state."What's your name?" The personal assistant asked and I crinkled my brows a little, wondering why he was asking that.
"He is the one asking that." He said again to clarify and I bowed my head immediately. "I am sorry. I am..Mira Silver." I replied, wondering why the guy could not speak by himself."Alright, you can leave." The personal assistant said and then we left.
I swear I was not breathing the whole time in there. Colour had drained off my face and I was pale. "You look like you just saw a ghost." Karima pointed out as soon as we got out but I couldn't even reply to her."Good job in there, Mira. There were some errors but you will get better with time." Leo commented as we walked back with the team into the elevator.
"You were not overly excited but you seemed a bit too strict with your facial expressions. That's very professional." Karima added and I just nodded in response. I could not say a word because beyond their compliments, I had a whole lot running through my mind.I could not even share the story with anyone because who would believe that?
As soon as we got to our floor and stepped out, Karima proposed lunch with she and Leo. Even though I wanted to be alone, I had no strength to turn her down so I just complied. As we had a simple dish for lunch, something dropped in my mind. "Karima." I called out and she looked up at me, diving her attention between her meal and me.
"Earlier, when the VVIP guest arrived, did you perhaps call my name at any point in time?" I inquired and she looked confused for a bit. "No, I did not, why?" She responded and I furrowed my brows. What was going on? I was very sure I heard her call my name but now she said she did not. Was I hallucinating?"Nothing, I think I just... hallucinated something." I replied, trying to close it up with a smile.
"Leo." Karima called, facing him. "Yeah?" "Do not forget to share the guest's profile with Mira, I forwarded it to your email already. The higher-ups did not send it on time so it was delayed for that reason.""Oh..okay!"
I later got his profile and I diligently went through it on the computer in my allocated space. It was a general office for the team but her spaces were demarcated well. Only the team leads, Karima and Leo, had their own special offices. My space wasn't bad actually. It was well furnished and we had a kitchen room where we could eat lunch, make instant coffee and tea, too. Leo forwarded the VVIP guest's profile to me and I was quick to go through it.Jordan Reign, 30, he barely talks-prefers to listen and observe, that was very obvious at our first meeting. He prefers a perfectly quiet environment, loves nature...and I guessed that was why his suite was openly facing the ocean, with green trees around, it was also stated that he was cranky and short-tempered.He loved absolute order and efficiency, cigars, and classical music. His dislikes stated noise and disorder, unnecessary attention, I guessed he preferred staying in the shadows. He hated it when people talked too much, we had t
While Karima was out, I played so vigorously on the piano in her apartment. I had been on it for hours and I did not plan to stop anytime soon. At some point, I relaxed my finger muscles and played a solemn piece I had always played right from my learning days. I knew how to play it best! And so that was what I planned to play for Jordan Reign. After an extra hour of rehearsing, I took my fingers off the piano. If I stayed any more minute, my fingers could become stiff and eventually mess up the real performance. I glanced at the time and saw that it was 2 at midnight. I sighed gently and I looked around, standing up from the bench I sat on. My body was almost numb. It was my first time staying this long at her apartment, being there even. Her apartment's theme was a bit plainer than mine and I guessed she had a bland taste, but everything there was luxurious.I walked to her kitchen to get a glass of water as I was dehydrated, then as I gulped down the natural liquid, I heard some
I was woken up in the morning by Karima's call. I swear, if she had not called me at that time, I would have gotten late for work. Apparently, she was back at her apartment to prepare for the day. Immediately the call ended, I walked into the shower and had a warm bath, then I put on casual wears with sneakers then waited patiently for her to be done.I would have gone up to her unit but the trauma I had the previous day was real, funny enough so I just waited on my floor. She reached out to me when she was done and we headed down to Greenville Resort together. "Are you well prepared for this?" She asked and I nodded.. "I am." I replied amidst my various thoughts. Ugh... there was a whole lot on my mind but I was not losing it yet. The stuff with Karima's music box bothered me, combined with my unsettled tummy out of the nervousness towards playing for our dear VVIP guest. It was even the way Karima was selling me out. I had not worked in any organization before but she was sure
"He wants me to play again for him by 7 tonight." I said to Karima as we headed to the office. Midway, we met Maria, the female lead of the team one, the one that did not like Karima. Some way, I had found out about her name and some details from some of my teammates' discussion.Again, she had that contemptuous look when she saw us coming and this time around, she stopped to speak. "Here goes the so-called Iron woman, who gets everything done." Maria said in a mocking manner and a smirk appeared on Karima's face. She did not even spare Maria a glance and just walked past her, I did the same too, feeling funnily sorry for her. What the heck was that non-verbal, punchy response Karima gave her?The look on Maria's face was killing, like the other day I had met her. Jealousy and anger were written all over her bodly. She obviously hated the fact that most guests preferred Karima's services and by default, services from our team to Maria's team, even though they were the first team.It
The other guest was Harrison Louis, a government official, a VVIP guest too and from the discussions between others that I overheard, it turned out the guest were initially meant for team one, Maria's team. But they made a mistake during one of their services and the guest angrily requested for another team to serve him. "I even heard Karima was not going to accept it." One of them chipped in."Of course, it's wrong for her to. It's more like handing over a leftover, but she had to take it just for the guest's sake." Another replied. As we headed to the man's room with three of my senior colleagues and Rowland, I remained quiet throughout. We got to the floor where the man's suite was, only to see so many guards there, securing. I wrinkled my brows, was this really necessary? They had us all scanned with a machine before we were allowed in.I just watched calmly, to learn. I was the type that gained mastery just by observing, it was my wiring. "The agents are here already, sir." On
I was shocked when he walked in. Why was he here? What was he looking for? It seemed like he came for trouble but he was actually calmer than anyone in that space. Harrison seemed to recognize him too, but he was not dazed by him."Yes, how may I help you...Mr...Reign?" He raised his voice immediately. As if he had not heard anyone speak, Jordan walked towards us and sent a dreadful stare at Karima, she immediately took her face down."3PM, that was the instruction." He let out calmly but in annoyance. "I am sorry, sir. There's been a bit of a situation."He moved his gaze away from her and to me, then he just stared. In return, I moved my own eyes to Karima, questioning her non-verbally about what was going on. 3PM? What was supposed to happen then?"You were supposed to play for him by 3, plans changed." She mentioned and an 'o' escaped my lips. I realized he was still staring at me and I took my eyes down immediately. "Join me up there in ten minutes. I don't care about what h
It was my first time in that suite's bedroom. This place was beyond luxury and grandness, the bedroom was super spacious and well furnished. "Sit on the bed." He ordered and the red alerts really got triggered in my mind. What are we doing? I looked at him and saw the dreadful glare at me, no one told me before I complied.Honestly, I don't know how and why but he got me there. There was a strong pull. He moved closer to me and instead of defending myself or something, I closed my eyes out of fear, not anticipation now.I was literally at his control, it felt more like a supernatural thing. I don't know what happened but I could feel something refreshing on my skin. Opening my eyes slowly, I discovered his eyes were closed and his hands were above my head, make a certain, calm gesture above my head.Soon, he opened his eyes and they were now in Amber colour, I could see the flames in them. He did not even spare me a glance, right before me, he closed his eyes and opened them again,
The song went on and I could not just wrap my head around the whole thing happening. Again, some strange wind swept me off my feet and I fell to the ground. Jordan was in front of me the next second. "You are dying here." He asserted and I frowned. What did he mean by that? Dying? He was really going to kill me? I scrunched my brows. "Could you be any heartless? Firstly you bring a young woman in here to get into an unfair combat and now what?" He smirked obviously. "Is that an avenue for you to keep being weak? You brought it upon yourself, own up to it or at least pretend to have some strength." He ran his mouth real good at that point, and he was extremely calm too.His words triggered something in me and I felt anger within myself. It was mainly because it reminded me of when I was still in my father's pack, and also at Adrien's. Despite being the daughter of the Alpha, I did not escape the gossips, bashing, mockery that came from all sorts of people just because I was an O
