Chapter 99

The tension in the room was strong, and I could feel the energy from everyone in that room, ready to fight to defend their Alpha and myself. But I couldn't let anyone be hurt, not because of me. I saw Nick go to step forward, but I glared at him, telling him with my eyes to stay where he was.

I let go of Brax despite his trying to stop me; I had to protect everyone in this room.

"Luna, you cannot possibly defy us," my mother declared, her tone stern and unyielding. "You belong with your true family."

My heart pounded in my chest. "I don't even know you," I retorted. "And yet you think you can dictate my life?"

The corners of her mouth curled into a cruel smile. "Perhaps if you hadn’t been so difficult to find, things would be different. But you’ve always had a stubborn streak, just like your father."
