Chapter 101

Strong arms ripped me away from Brax as I screamed for them to leave me with him. I hadn't realised that although it felt like only a few seconds of me sitting there holding him, I had been there for hours sobbing.

“You have to let him go, Luna.” Jack's voice said softly as he pulled me into him, ignoring my futile attempts to push him away.

“No, no, no!” I howled, each refusal punctuated with a feeble shove against Jack’s firm chest. “He’s all I had left, Jack. I can’t just—” My voice broke, the words too painful to form.

“We’ll get through this,” Jack murmured, his voice a steady anchor in my sea of torment. I wanted to believe him, but it felt like I was drowning in my grief, each wave of sorrow pulling me further into the pain.

I could still see Brax's face when I closed my eyes, his final words echoing through my mind: "Live. For me." How could I live when every breath felt like a betrayal to his memory? Yet, as Jack's arms held me, a small part of me clung to Brax's last request
