I quickly rushed ahead and saw her lying near the edge where the huge cut tree had fallen a few days ago. Half of her body was resting in water while the other half was resting on the side of the tree. "No," I whispered as I ran ahead, instantly jumping into the river and grabbing her body, pulling it into my arms. I was sniffling and trying to hold back my tears while I swam back to land. Once she was placed on the ground, I looked at her helplessly, tears running down my cheeks. My body was trembling, and my wolf was whimpering loudly. I felt nauseous, and my head was throbbing badly. "She's fine," I said to myself in a cracked voice as I raised my hand and placed it on her chest. "Alpha!" Harvey called when he reached where I was. I looked at him with blurry vision, then back at my mate. "Why?" I whispered in a cracked voice. "Why can't I feel her heartbeat, Harvey?" I asked with a heavy heart, then moved my hand to my chest as I felt like I was suffocating.

"Pathetic," I muttered to myself as I picked up a dirty plate from the table and carefully put it in the sink, which was next to it.
Brenda and her silly friend Sylvia were at it again, gossiping about our Alpha.
It was tiring to hear them, yet I still couldn't stop myself from listening to their conversation.
"How on earth does he still look like he is in his twenties?" Brenda asked in a whisper.
"I know, right! Gosh, he doesn't age at all! He's in his late thirties, yet he still looks like a hunky teenager. Is that what it means to be an Alpha?" Sylvia answered as I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
Luckily, they couldn't see me because I had my back towards them, but that didn't mean I liked how they were talking about him.
And who was dumb enough to think that our Alpha wasn't aging because of his rank? It was clear that it was because of what we were!
Werewolves were different from humans in most ways. Not only did we age slowly, we had heightened abilities and impressive strength. We could heal in just a few seconds unless the wound was too deep; then it took some minutes.
But despite that, there were a few things that were a hazard and deadly to us, such as a vampire's bite. It brought about pain, and if not treated in time, one could lose their lives.
Red Otis, it was a rare flower that was hardly found because it only grew in hidden places and blossomed after fifty to a hundred years.
It was deadly in that a single dose killed any supernatural being or human. Then there was wolfsbane; it was made in both liquid and powdered form.
A simple dose made one's immune system weak for some hours, but that was it. It only became serious when it was overdosed. Silver usually burnt our skin but not to the point of inflicting wounds; it only made the skin itch, ache, and bruise.
We also had super speed and hearing, among other things.Although we lived in packs, some took it upon themselves to go rogue either due to being mateless, rejected, or banished.
The ranks that oversaw everything were the ones that were respected the most.
It was of no surprise that the Alpha was the topic spoken about every day by the she-wolves of our pack. After all, he was the Alpha male and the highest of rank. A born leader who ruled over us all, despite being a total cold bastard, no one paid attention to his wrongdoing.
His beta, the second in command (his right hand), was talked about too, sadly it wasn't as often as the Alpha. He too had an attitude which he rarely showed, but I saw past the innocent kind mask because underneath all that was the devil himself. He was worse than our Alpha.
Our Gamma, the third in command, was mischievous, and he was comfortable enough to show everyone that side. That's why the warriors too began taking after him.
The only one who was genuine, even though he spoke less, was our Delta, the fourth in command. Although he usually kept away from most things, that didn't mean he could interfere in anything.
Most times he would watch me or any other weak she-wolf being harassed yet do nothing. I found it odd, yet to me, he was better than the rest.
"Hey, bitch, why have your hands stopped moving?" Brenda asked loudly, pulling me out of my deep thoughts.
"I'm sorry," I whispered in a respectful, husky tone and began cleaning the plates.
My throat was still hurting from the pleading I did a while ago, and my hand had a deep cut that was now slowly healing.
My lip was slightly burst, and my scalp was still burning.
"Food," my wolf growled.
She was always speaking like a child. She wouldn't keep a conversation running, and she rarely spoke.
We were both starving because we had been ordered not to eat for three days. Sadly, we still couldn't go against the Alpha's orders and eat.
"We can't," I whispered silently.
Those two were there to watch me finish the chores flawlessly. If I did something like eat or steal anything secretly, it was going to end badly for me.
"Where is she?" The deep, demanding voice I knew all too well echoed outside the kitchen room.
"I asked a fucking question, where is that weak bitch!" He exclaimed, and this time I tensed in fear as my heart picked up.
I knew he had walked into the kitchen by his intoxicating scent, yet I chose to play dumb.
When the sound of his footsteps began approaching me, I felt so terrified, and my wolf began to whimper.
Before I could turn to look at his face, I was grabbed by the hair and yanked backward as I quickly moved my hands to grab his hand, which was inflicting pain on my scalp.
"You dumb bitch, what did you say to her!" He spat as his grip tightened, making me scream in pain.
Although the tingles that spread throughout my body were easing most of my pain, I couldn't believe how much my own mate, the Alpha,Chose to hurt me every day. If not for his mistress, then it was because he couldn't stand seeing me.
"Alpha, you are hurting me," I screamed in a pleading loud tone as my eyes became filled with tears.
My wolf was loudly whimpering, yet she couldn't stand or go against our mate.
"I come back after a long drive, and the first thing I hear is your disgusting name from my lover. Do you know how upset that makes me?" He asked and then let go of my hair and grabbed my hand that was healing, dragging me out of the room, ignoring my sobs.
"I did nothing wrong, please," I whispered over and over again while I tried my best to keep up with his movements. He went upstairs to his room, kicked the door open, then pushed me forward. I fell on the ground and groaned in pain.
"Now tell me, Leah, what did she say that made you so sad?" He asked.
She sat upright on the bed, making sure the sheet which was around her was no longer covering her body. She was happily showing off the hickeys that were all over her naked body.
Even without her doing that, it was obvious that he was from having sex with her; I could smell her on him when he had walked into the kitchen.
I was disgusted, but my fear overshadowed that.
Ever since I knew that the Alpha was my mate, he wasted no time to laugh in my face and tell me how he never wanted me. It wasn't a direct rejection, but I understood his words clearly.
Not only was I a cursed Omega who caused the death of the two most respected Gammas of our pack, I was of no value to anyone.
If not for my mother having a complicated birth, my father wouldn't have gone out of the pack in search of a great healer for help. He wouldn't have been attacked by rogues, and he would have still been alive.
When the news of my father reached my mother, her situation got worse, and due to losing too much blood, she perished, and I was born.Since then, every pack member has hated me; they all wished I was the one who should have died at that time, not my parents.
Despite being raised in the pups' orphanage by the elderly omegas, I was the most mistreated.
I ate less and worked so hard. I did chores that were meant for others without complaining. Every time I did complain, I was badly punished both by the other kids and the elderly omegas. Pain became a part of me, and day by day, all that I wished for was to survive.
I wanted to live, not only for myself but for my mate who would accept and cherish me. Despite being harassed, and a few times being attacked by the warriors who attempted to rape me, I survived it all.
Then I turned eighteen and discovered the Alpha who everyone thought was mateless was my mate.
Two things dawned on me: first, he knew who I was to him because he was older than me and watched as I got mistreated.
Secondly, he hated me and wanted nothing to do with me. There and then, my heart and purpose were broken.
The will to live was still there, but I had nowhere to go and no one to love me. The only one who would lend a shoulder for me to cry on secretly was Flora, one of the elderly Omegas who usually avoided everyone and kept to herself.
My wolf, too, was weak, and she couldn't stand her ground because of her rank. We had to watch as the Alpha took on a lover who he openly praised and had sex with in his room every day.
Whenever I showed signs of being hurt or tried to plead with him not to hurt me, he ended up hitting me or making me regret ever speaking up.
"I heard her say how she had hoped you would still make her Luna," Leah spoke up as I widened my eyes in disbelief.
Why? Why was she always this hard on me? She already won because she had him in her grasp, yet she usually lied to only have him hit me in front of her. Was it because she thought I would ever be accepted by him?
She was of Delta blood, so why would she even pay attention to my Omega blood?
"Is that so?" My mate asked in a cold, husky voice.
"No, I didn't," I said in a low tone as I shook my head.
When he moved and grabbed my hair, roughly forcing me to get on my feet and look at him, I knew then and there he was going to kill me.
Jace's POV The cheers that went on for minutes filled my heart with joy, and I was very happy to finally witness Glen become the Alpha of this pack and Harley the Luna.Yesterday, things were a little messy because we all couldn't decide who should take over the ceremony.Alpha Ian wanted Edith and Lexi to do it, but Glen and Light suggested the warlock Lee. For an hour, we all couldn't come to an agreement.Only when Sonya suggested having all three do it did we finally reach a consensus.Watching those three take over the ceremony was history itself and very iconic. They complemented each other so well when they needed to and made sure each had a turn to work things out. Edith was like a leader who looked so proud to have Lee and Lexi by her side."That's some iconic shit, don't you think?" Light asked, standing next to me."Why do you say that?" I asked, despite knowing what he meant."Edith is the most respected ancient witch that we know of, and Lexi is known and respected so mu
Jace's POV "Will Sky and Glen be upset with me?" I asked Lilian seriously as I drove past their pack's border. "I doubt it," she answered softly.Instead of using a portal, we decided to drive, and it took us two days. Alpha Ian was already there, along with Harley's mother, aunt, and her kind. I felt very nervous, and I was preparing myself mentally for any outcome that would arise."Jace, they are your brothers; they will understand," Lillian whispered softly when the pack house came into view."I doubt it," I answered in a low tone and then frowned when I saw a lot of men who looked like warriors. The closer I got, the clearer it became that those men weren't human; they were dragon warriors, and the way they were looking at me wasn't all that friendly."I guess he was right; the dragon warriors were a little more than I would imagine," I said when I parked my car close to the pack house entrance, remembering Sky's words from our previous phone conversation."When you feel tired
Sky's POV"Alpha Ian and his family have arrived," Riff announced through the pack's mind-link."Okay," I answered from my office, still using the mind-link, and then slowly stood up.When I felt their presence at the pack's border, I quickly sent Riff to welcome them and show them to the pack. Then, I went on to inform Glen about their arrival.I also felt that Jace needed to know they were here, which is why I rushed to my office to make a call."Alpha, they are in the living room," Riff mind-linked me."I'm coming," I answered and then quickly walked out. When I entered the living room, I found everyone seated except for Alpha Ian and Glen, who were both looking at Sonya."Alpha Ian, welcome," I said nervously. He looked at me with a raised brow, then at Glen."He looks exactly like you; it sucks," he muttered."That's because he is my identical twin brother," Glen answered simply."Gosh, I couldn't want even my worst enemy to share his exact face with another, be it blood or not,"
Glen's POV I looked at Sky, who was typing something on his laptop in the pack's office, then folded my arms with a low sigh."What is it?" he asked without looking at me."Don't you think you are rushing things? Just because the Queen of Dragons said that to you, it doesn't make you obliged to go through with it. Harley and I can wait until the right time to have the ceremony, brother," I answered seriously."That's the thing: no one can force me to do what I feel or think is wrong. What Harley's mother said was right, and I want to do it while she's still in our pack," he said calmly and then looked at me."Our mate acted cold towards her mother, but we all could see it in her words how she still longed for her. Her being made Luna with part of her family witnessing it would make her and us happy, wouldn't it?" he asked as I dropped my hands and nodded. When she asked her mother if she was leaving, her voice indeed held longing, and it surprised me. But at the same time, I understo
Sonya's POV"Come on, just this once," I pleaded softly.Harley looked at me coldly and then sighed heavily."Can't you call me 'mother' just this once, please?" I said loudly and then looked at her mates, who were both staring at me in silence.I could tell what they were thinking without them saying a word. The first thing I saw in their expressions was the question: how dare you invite yourself into our pack house and living room? The second question was: how could you ask that of her when you clearly abandoned her?And the last question was: how the hell are you able to keep such a funny demeanor when things are far worse and serious? How could you leave your warriors outside the pack house and freely joke with our mate?"I know you want to say something to me; please do, because I promise I won't be upset," I said seriously to them. The twins looked at each other and then looked back at me."Ma'am, are you going to take Harley away from us?" one Alpha asked."Before I answer, may
Sky's POV "You have to eat something," I whispered in concern as I rubbed Harley's back gently. She was lying down on her bed in silence while I sat next to her. Glen stood next to us with a sad expression on his face. Ever since Corinne left our pack, two days had gone by, but Harley refused to eat or talk much to any of us.I was very concerned that I had to put the pack's work on hold."Perhaps we should call Berta—I mean Mom and Dad—and inform them about everything," Glen insisted seriously.I quickly got up and cursed loudly."What now?" he asked at the top of his voice."We have an intruder," I answered coldly."Riff, we have an intruder," I said loudly as I walked out of the pack house.I sighed heavily when I looked at Corinne, who was standing with her hand pressed on her hip."You again," I said softly, then glanced at Riff and Sophie, who were rushing towards me."Tell the warriors to stand by," I mind-linked Riff and then focused on Corinne."Did you seriously think I wa
Corinne's POV "Why aren't you asking me more questions?" I asked Harley seriously.A few minutes had gone by, and she was looking at me with hate and anger."Let's go inside," she said coldly, then turned and went into a huge mansion I assumed was the pack house."You heard her," I whispered, then followed her inside.I paid no mind to the wall interior because my eyes were fixed on how she walked. Even her movements were exactly like my sister's. If my sister were any younger, she could have passed as her identical twin.I made a turn and walked into the living room, where she pointed at a sofa."Thanks," I said simply, then took a seat.We both glanced at the door when the two Alphas and Betas walked in."Now that everyone is here, I won't hold back on what I'm about to say and ask," Harley announced seriously."Of course," I whispered.Ever since we received the call about Harley being alive and possibly well, my sister wasted no time in sending me to meet her. Before I traveled,
Harley's POV I knew my mates were acting differently but I ignored them. At least I tried to because I thought they were doing that to spite me due to how I had kept my feelings to myself. It was wrong of me but I felt like they were doing a little revenge of their own, which I choose to really not pay much attention to until from nowhere Sophie and Glen barged into my room.It was very startling but they gave a few excuses of how they had thought they had heard a sudden noise from my room.At first I didn't think much about the situation and told them they just had been mistaken. But some minutes went by with them talking a lot, as if they were trying to keep me in the dark over something. That's why I asked Sophie if something was going on, but she brushed it off and told me to ignore any noise because the warriors were training in front of the pack house. Her excuse made no sense that's why I turned to Glen and asked him if he was keeping something from me.He hesitated but gave i
Sky's POV "Do you think we are acting weird?" I asked Riff, who stood in my office with his arms crossed."Is that why you rushed me to your office?" he asked lazily."Are you still upset with me?" I asked back seriously from behind my desk.He shook his head and then dropped his hands."I came running because of the tone of your voice. I thought something bad had happened to you. I was so worried about you, not upset," he answered simply."Well, Harley has been looking at me and Glen coldly these past few days. We... I mean Glen and I decided to keep the news of her parents coming to our pack a secret, just in case they come looking for blood or end up not being her real parents," I said seriously."Well, what do you expect me to say, Alpha? She is a sharp lady who can easily tell if something is going on. Perhaps you should come clean and tell her the truth. After all, you look uncomfortable not telling her, so it might do you good to come clean," he advised.I stood up and brushed
