Jace's POV

"What is it? Talk to me, please," I pleaded with my wolf while trying so hard to breathe.

Hours had gone by, and he couldn't stop howling in pain. I, too, was in pain physically; I felt like my heart was being slightly squeezed, and my body was trembling.

Whiskey mixed with a dose of wolfsbane couldn't work, no matter how I overdosed, because I threw up instantly before I could even swallow the content. My eyes were hurting from the tears that were running down, and my head was aching.

I could hear the sound of birds chirping and a few voices outside. It was already morning, and in just a few hours, my Beta was going to come here to check up on me.

I needed to force myself on my feet because I never wanted to show anyone my weak side.

I groaned in pain as I got to my feet from the ground and moved to the bathroom naked, stumbling a bit. I approached the shower and quickly turned it on. As water began pouring on me, I moved my hand to my aching head.

"Ridge, please talk to me," I whispered to my wolf, whose whimpers had now died down, then fell to my knees to throw up.

Never in my life had I ever gone through so much pain and discomfort, not even when my parents had died.

I stood up with a bitter taste in my mouth and got out of the running shower, walking to the sink where I wasted no time in cleaning my teeth.

I moved back to the bedroom and grabbed some clothes. Although I was feeling a little better, I was still in pain.

I walked out of my room after dressing up and went downstairs into the dining room expecting to find everything set.

When I noticed that the table wasn't set, I looked at the few she-wolves who looked annoyed and were going back and forth.

"Why isn't the table set?" I asked an elderly omega who was quietly observing them.

She gave a low bow and then glanced at another she-wolf who stood a bit further away from her.

"Forgive us, Alpha. Today was Lillian's duty to serve you, but since the party yesterday, no one has seen her," the she-wolf answered as I felt my headache increase.

I was pissed off at her response, more to learn that my so-called mate had chosen not to do her pack's duty.

Was she sick again?

Not only was she weak, she was fragile as a human being. Despite never meeting her wolf, I could sense that she had one. Sadly, it too was weak. Through her aura and pheromones, I could tell.

"How annoying, is Lillian sick again?" I asked, then frowned when all the she-wolves in the room looked at me surprised.

My words came off as me being concerned about her, and I hated it.

It was surprising to them, but I knew her name perfectly well. I mean, why wouldn't I when my wolf was so hung up on forcing me to call her by name, when I had never used it openly before.

"No, Alpha, she wasn't even in her room when I checked," she answered.

I rubbed my forehead to ease my pain, then cleared my throat. I felt like my knees would give up any minute, so I needed to get the hell out of the dining hall.

"Make it quick, I don't give a fuck whose duty it is or was," I ordered, then slowly walked out of the room and went outside the pack house where Harvey's voice was coming from.

I felt powerless just thinking of her spending a night with another male.

"No, it can't be, I'm just overthinking," I said silently to myself as I moved closer.

"Harvey," I called loudly, immediately getting his attention.

He turned and faced me, together with Paul, then they gave a low bow to show their respect.

"Alpha, I'm glad to see you. Yesterday you were..."

"Have you seen the pack's runt?" I asked seriously.

"Who?" Paul asked.

"That dumb, fat omega," I answered.

"You mean the one we usually pick on?" he asked as I clenched my hands into fists.

I usually pretended not to see, despite feeling angry whenever they picked on her. In my mind, I had slaughtered my Beta, Gamma, warriors, and other she-wolves countless times because of how they were treating Lillian.

I hated them deep down to my core yet tried so hard to bury those negative emotions.

"Yes, her," I answered, then faked a smile.

"No, Alpha," Paul answered.

"I was thinking, perhaps she has finally found a fool to entertain her body," I muttered, then chuckled when I noticed how my Beta was looking at me in astonishment.

"Alpha, we did not see her today. The last time we saw her was at the party," Harvey answered.

I didn't want to ask them the question that was going through my mind, but I had to; I just couldn't stop myself.

"She wouldn't have run away, right?" I asked.

"No, Alpha, if she did, we would have known by now, mostly you," he answered seriously.

He was right about that. There was no way I couldn't have felt it if someone had crossed my pack's border. That thought alone made me feel a little bit at ease.

But then, if she wasn't sick or with another male, then where would she be? Was she alone, crying because of how I treated Leah in front of her? Perhaps she was hiding herself because she was in heat?

No, most she-wolves went into heat on the night of the full moon, but she was different. Never had there been a day when I had seen or heard from anyone that she had experienced her first heat. Something about her was quite different and mysterious.

I refused to pay attention to her because she was weak. But every time I tried, I found myself being drawn to her. Her chubby body was adorable and looked very comfortable to touch.

Her hair was a unique white, which I had never seen before in my life, and her beautiful brown eyes reminded me of a princess I had read about in my books when I was young.

I hated to admit it, but her very being was my type. I liked everything about her and I wanted her to change nothing about herself, not even her soft, meek voice.

"You are right, I guess I'll go to my office and look at the files," I said, then took a few steps forward when he called me.

"What?" I asked once I had stopped walking.

"Are you okay? You look a little pale," he asked.

"I am more than fine," I lied, then walked away.

  • THE ALPHA'S REKINDLED BOND    Chapter 6

Harvey's POVI wasn't a fool not to notice how the Alpha was struggling to concentrate. He looked very agitated and made a lot of mistakes with the pack files he was handling. He actually looked like he was in pain and trying so hard not to show it, and it was all because of that Omega.A few hours had gone by, and she was not yet back. I felt very guilty, and fear was filling my heart. If he could act like this when she wasn't around, how would he act seeing her drenched in water and shivering? Yes, he didn't care about her a few days ago, but right now, it looked like he did."Harvey, is there a problem?" Paul asked softly behind me.I turned and looked at him seriously, then at the few warriors who were standing beside him."That Omega we used as bait yesterday hasn't been seen for hours, and the Alpha looks irritated. I might be wrong, but he seems like a man in love, desperately waiting for his lover," I replied."Are you kidding me? He doesn't care about that bitch," he spat."I

Jace's POVI quickly shifted into my human form and began looking around."Lillian!" I called out in a cracked voice as I walked further at the edge, with labored breath. She couldn't swim, that I knew because I overheard her talk to an elderly woman about one of her fears. Back then, I thought it was something foolish and weak a she-wolf would say, but now I was terrified by that thought."Lillian, please answer me! If you do, I swear to the moon goddess I won't harm you in any way. I just want to see that you are safe, please," I begged, then tensed when her scent reached my nose.I quickly rushed ahead and saw her body lying near the edge where a huge cut tree had fallen a few days ago. Half of her body was resting in the water while the other half was resting on the side of the tree."No," I whispered and ran ahead, instantly jumping into the river and grabbing her body, pulling it into my arms.I was sniffing and trying to hold back my tears while I swam back to land. Once she wa

Harvey's POVDoomed. We were all doomed!I looked at the Alpha who was lying unconscious in one of our guest rooms then sighed sadly."Beta, what do we do with that Omega's dead body?" Light asked softly behind me.I turned and faced him seriously."We all witnessed a few hours ago how he walked into the pack house. Although he was dripping wet, he was badly crying and just by his pheromones, no one could approach him. He was emitting a death threat. So what do you think would happen if we touched his mate's body?" I asked bitterly. This was the first time I referred to that Omega as his mate because the actions he had portrayed were those of a male in love who had greatly suffered from loss and heartache.I was feeling devastated and very scared for our lives. We were his childhood friends, but at the same time, we were also the very ones who had taken away his mate. Although he acted like that towards her, it was so clear to us now that he was bonded to her."But she's dead," he whi

Paul's POVWe rushed into the guest bedroom quickly. The healer was already at the Alpha's side, taking care of him. After she had gone to see Lillian's dead body, she bowed down and apologized because there was nothing she could do to resurrect her.I knew it wasn't going to take long before the body would begin to smell and rot, so I asked her to please do something about it, which she agreed to.She went out and came back with a large box.She asked me to step out, which I complied.I went to my room and found the door open. I knew who it was before I could even walk in.Light was sitting on my bed, reluctantly going through my diary.I quickly moved to grab it when he stood up at a quick pace and grabbed a handful of pages."Stop!" I exclaimed, but he ignored me and ripped them apart. There and then, my wolf took over in anger. Light laughed loudly, surprising him as he threw the diary on the ground."You call yourself a Gamma, don't you, sir?" He asked as my wolf growled low."Yo

Jace's POV"I am here," I whispered softly to Lillian as I slowly sat at the edge of the bed, looking at her with a smile."I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for taking time to come here. For some reason, I passed out. I'm assuming it's due to exhaustion," I said softly, then raised my hand to touch her cheek when I stopped myself halfway."Oh, you don't like to be touched, do you?" I asked, then frowned deeply when I felt a slight headache.I groaned and then touched my forehead with a heavy sigh.No matter how I was feeling, I wasn't going to leave her side. She needed me as much as I needed her.A knock that came through forced me to get to my feet and walk to the door, opening it.An elderly omega had a tray of food in her hands, and she was slightly trembling with her gaze lowered to the ground."Alpha, the Beta asked me to serve you food and to prepare a bath for you," she said, making me growl. She quickly took a few steps back and went down on her knees."That re

Flora's POVI felt powerless as I looked at the corpse in front of us. We all could tell that the she-wolf was already dead. How could we relay such words to our Alpha and still keep our necks intact?"Elder," Brenda called in a cracked voice, snapping me out of my thoughts."Yes, dear," I answered in a husky voice, then cleared my throat."How are we supposed to clean a dead body? I'm so scared because I have never done it before," she asked as I glared at her.Did she want to die? What if the Alpha was close by? Hearing her words would make him act up in just a second."If you value your damn life, you will shut your mouth and work. By the way, watch your mouth," I said loudly and then looked at Sylvia, who was looking at the body intensely."Sylvia," I called softly. She looked at me and then patted her chest a few times."Elder, I know I shouldn't say this, but I'm uncomfortable. Lillian is way gone and there is nothing our Alpha can do about it. I heard from a few warriors that t

Talic's POVI stood in the Alpha's office, looking at him speechless. He was going through his files with a smile plastered on his face, without paying attention to me or even looking my way.I had already talked to the warriors and told them what was going on, as well as a few pack members so they could show discretion. As for Leah, she was banned from seeing him. It was a command and order I had given her, and I was sure she was going to heed it. As it was, the Alpha wouldn't waste any time in killing her if she said something to anger him."Alpha," I called softly. When a minute went by, I frowned deeply.I couldn't understand why Ridge wasn't taking over and pushing his human into their subconscious. I understood that the pain was too much to handle, but we still needed him to govern us."Sir," I called softly.Whenever I did that, Ridge took over without hesitation."How is Lillian?" came a response, and then he looked up to meet my eyes.It was still Alpha Jace, and that made me

Talic's POVThree days of traveling without much rest and needed food were finally taking a toll on me. I felt exhausted, and my head was badly aching. After Flora's instructions and badly drawn directions, I took it upon myself to search for that witch. Although I was in the said territory she was in, I couldn't sense her presence nor notice any wild animals near me. Something felt off, and that made me feel a little nervous.I opened the door to my car and slowly got out, taking a few steps ahead. When I stood still, I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. When I opened my eyes, I sighed softly. It was of no use; I still couldn't pick up any supernatural being's scent.I was about to turn and get back to my car when I heard light humming coming from behind the bushes, a little further away from where I was.I carefully began moving towards the bushes as the female's voice became clear.I touched the bushes and I was about to part them when she spoke."Whoever you are, go back. Las POV"Talk," the Luna commanded.I had a bitter taste in my mouth and a splitting headache. My body was slightly trembling, and I felt like I was choking.Never had there been a day I had felt like this, even when I was facing Alpha Ridge in his angry state. What the hell was she? Her aura was unbearable."I am not feeling well," I forced out the words."Mm, very well, you can excuse yourself," she said with a creepy smirk on her face.I could tell how much she was enjoying it. Was this payback for how my human had treated her in the past?I stood up with wobbly legs and gave a low bow before exiting the room.I was slowly beginning to feel better the further I got away from the room. When Talic told me how she was stronger than anyone he had encountered in our pack, I took it as bluffing and chose to approach her to see for myself. But after today, I wanted nothing to do with her, not even to cross her path. Whatever she was, it was bad, Alpha or not."Delta," Leah called out in f

Maila's POV"Get out!" Was what I said to the Beta after I had asked him to send a capable she-wolf that would take care of everything.I walked into the bathroom and took off my clothes, stepping into the shower with a heavy sigh.I wasn't shocked over the Beta's obedience because it wasn't Harvey present. But I was very surprised when he and Edith teamed up to carry Jace."He's still an asshole, Harvey or not," I whispered as the cold water poured on my body, making me look down on myself with a low sigh. What was so undesirable about us? I gritted my teeth and then moved my hands to my hips sadly. Even after dying, I was still fat; the only difference was that the chubby stomach was no longer there.I slowly slid my hands to my full breast then touched my lips lightly."No kiss, no touch, and unloved," I whispered as tears filled my eyes."Lonely," I mumbled while I dropped my hands with tears running down my cheeks.Because of his harsh words, we couldn't even touch ourselves in

Maila's POVI slowly walked to the open balcony, ignoring the pain I felt throughout my body, and stood there looking at the sky. My throat was painfully dry, and my body was sweaty. So, I was back to the hellhole Lillian and I hated? It really was funny. When I looked at my pale hands, I sighed softly. On my wrist, there was a diamond bracelet that I had never seen."Witch, hand me a mirror," I said huskily while I moved my hands to my ears to touch the earrings there."I have a name, Lillian. I'm called Edith," she answered."I am not Lillian," I whispered. She was still calling me by that name when she already knew I wasn't her. Lillian was quiet and trying to accept our harsh fate. She couldn't believe how we were drowned just like that because we were weak, but what troubled me was how I felt now.I felt power and strength I had never felt before back then when we were still alive.I tensed when I heard light footsteps approaching me and the disgusting scent that made me nauseous

Edith's POVI woke up feeling sore everywhere and thirsty.I blinked a few times before calming down and looking to my left side.Talic was sleeping on a comfy chair, leaning his head against the edge of the bed. The room I was in was the very room he had given me, and that made me feel relieved. The spell had worked perfectly; I was so sure about it because I was still alive.I slowly sat upright and looked at him with a smile. It must have been horrifying for him to watch me take red Otis and lose my life right after that. But how did he know that the spell was complete? Did he cry a lot for me? Just that thought made me want to comfort him.I moved my hand and brushed his hair softly as the beautiful tingles spread throughout my body. No, I had to distance myself to make it easier for the rejection. Although my heart was getting in my way, my mind was still telling me otherwise. I needed to escape before he could talk me into staying. He shifted a bit and groaned softly. When he bl

Edith's POVShe was quietly looking at me without a word. She looked miserable, and I felt uncomfortable talking to her.I cleared my throat and tried to talk to her again."I'm so sorry if I have offended you by calling you Luna. It's just that there is something that I want to talk to you about," I said softly. She averted her eyes and chose to keep her silence."Aren't you wondering why you are in such a place? An empty room without any furniture for you to sit on?" I asked seriously. When she couldn't look at me, I continued to speak."That's because this is not the reality you and I should be in. What I'm trying to say to you is that you and I aren't in the land of the living," I said, then got startled when she laughed loudly. She looked at me angrily as her eyes began to switch to a dark shade of red. My heart raced, and my throat felt dry.She was an Alpha wolf and an angry one at that. Her aura gave it all away as well. She was unfazed, unafraid, and dominant."So this is the

Edith's POV"Miss Omega, please step out with Talic," I ordered seriously when the healer walked in with the required items for the ritual. He looked at me seriously and then shook his head."I'm not going to repeat myself, Talic," I warned and then approached the healer."Excuse me," the elderly Omega said in a respectful tone and then walked out."Healer, hand over the white powder first," I instructed calmly with a smile. She put the huge basket she was carrying on the ground, opened it, and took out the white powder which was in a black bow and handed it over to me.I grabbed the bowl and took a few steps back."I'll start the ritual, so please leave," I whispered as I began to draw a circle on the ground by dropping the powder on the floor carefully."What are you doing?" Talic asked."Making a circle," I answered, then smiled wider when it came out perfectly.I sighed and then began making a pentagram, making sure there were no mistakes made."Healer, I asked you to step out wit

Edith's POV"Are you sure you want to do this today? You only arrived a few hours ago; you need to rest more, don't you think?" Talic asked, right before we walked into the Alpha's bedroom."No, I have rested enough and taken a good shower," I answered simply."But you haven't eaten," he pointed out."I'll eat once I am done with what I'm supposed to do," I answered and then walked in with him.An elderly woman, who I could tell was an omega, stood next to a healer, quickly turned and faced us sadly."Welcome back, Beta," she greeted in a low husky tone."Thank you. Healer, how is the Alpha doing?" He asked. The healer looked at us, then shook her head."I hate to say this, Beta, but he is getting worse by each passing day," she answered seriously.I took a few steps forward and looked at the Alpha who was lying down on the left side of the bed carefully. He was sweating profusely, and his complexion was very pale. His breathing was shallow yet labored, and his body was trembling. I m

Edith's POVI felt nervous when the pack house came into view. Talic was busy focusing on the road, and that made me feel even worse. It had been a long time since I was in the midst of a group of werewolves. How would they welcome me? Would they fear me like my own coven did? After all, I dealt with black magic whenever I felt threatened or angered."There they are, they must have heard the car from afar or known we had crossed the border. Warriors now patrol the border since the Alpha isn't well," he said softly when a few men came out of the pack house and stood looking our way. When he parked a few meters away from them, I took in a deep breath and released it while wondering if I should take on a child's form.Talic came out and quickly went around to open the door for me. When he extended his hand, I looked at it seriously."Come on," he whispered as I frowned deeply.I was regretting coming with him, now that his pack members were looking at me."Come on, Edith, I can't wait to

Talic's POVI knew I had to focus on the road, yet I found myself stealing glances at her. I couldn't believe my words were enough to convince her.Seeing how she acted and how she spoke, I was waiting for her to either reject me or kick me out of her house. Hell, I was even prepared to sleep outside for days as long as she would later change her mind and choose me."What's wrong with you?" She asked as I smiled."I was wondering if you would allow me to hold your hand," I answered softly. She glared at me and shifted her gaze to the other side."Do you realize that once I do that favor for you, I will be going back home?" She asked seriously. There they were, the negative words she had said to me before she decided to go with me.I felt so happy when she agreed to join me, more so when she said that she was looking forward to meeting my pack. But then later on, I felt like an idiot when she corrected her sentence and told me how she was only going to help me out of pity. She also tri
