March 1, 2015
I hugged myself as a cool gust of air rushed through the corridor, sending a shiver down my spine. I waited for Darsh to open the door, rubbing my arms to ward off the chill. "I'll get the clothes, you feed your dog," I said, heading to the other side of the house. Sliding the balcony door open, I was met with a sudden spray of rain. Why is it raining in the middle of March again? I grabbed the clothes, pulling them inside as the rain drenched me. "Darsh?" I called out, not seeing him anywhere. "In here," came his reply from his room. With slight hesitation, I walked in. His disapproving gaze met mine as he noticed my soaked state. "You should have left them out there instead of getting drenched," he said, heading to his cupboard to fetch a towel. I rolled my eyes, standing there idly, my gaze wandering around his room. That's when something on his table caught my attention. A diary? Really? I smirked, checking to make sure he was still rummaging in the closet. I grabbed the book and began to open it, but before I could read a word, an arm wrapped around my waist, lifting me off the ground. My back pressed against his chest as his voice, low and teasing, sent a thrill racing through me. "It's off-limits," he whispered, his lips brushing against my ear. The sensation was electrifying, his fractured hand—still in a splint—resting against my waist while his other hand wrestled the journal out of my grasp. As much as I loved the tingling sensation coursing through me, my curiosity burned brighter. What was in that diary he was so desperate to protect? Determined, I jabbed a finger into his splint, earning a string of muffled curses as he released me. With a squeal, I darted out of his room, my laughter echoing down the hallway. I was almost at the main door when he caught up, grabbing my hand and pinning me against the door. Breathless, my chest heaving, I clutched the diary protectively. In a fit of desperation, I slipped it under my wet t-shirt, balancing it awkwardly between the waistband of my trousers and the fabric. His eyes darkened with determination. "Really? You think I wouldn't dare?" he challenged, leaning in closer, his body closing the gap between us. My hands pushed against him, but it was a feeble attempt. Deep down, I craved this closeness more than I wanted to admit. He captured my wrists effortlessly, pinning them behind me as he drew me closer. The intensity in his gaze sent my pulse racing. His face hovered above mine, his hair grazing my cheek. The soft caress made my toes curl, and his breath, warm and steady, danced across the crook of my neck. My senses felt amplified, each second stretching into eternity as his free hand slid from my hip to my waist. When his cast brushed against my bare skin, the jolt snapped me back to reality. My mind screamed to escape, but my body betrayed me, frozen in place. Taking a shaky breath, I decided if he could go this far, so could I. Rising onto my toes, I pressed a light, fleeting kiss to his lips. The contact left me trembling, my knees weak, but it had the desired effect. He froze, his grip slackening as he released a sharp breath. His stunned expression was all the opportunity I needed. I bolted from his room, darting into my flat and locking myself in my room before anyone could notice. Sliding down to the floor, I pressed a hand against my chest, trying to calm the erratic beating of my heart. Did that just happen? Or was it all a dream? Shaking off the whirlwind of emotions, I changed into dry clothes, carefully hiding the journal before heading out to dinner. I plastered on an innocent smile, pretending nothing had happened. But my heart sank the moment Darsh walked in and, of all places, sat right beside me. ~~***~~March, 2015 "Why set an alarm if you're not going to GET UP?!" I shouted at Priti, who remained blissfully unconscious. She didn't even stir, and neither did Kyra, sprawled on the left, nor Virin, snoring away on the makeshift bed on the floor. I rarely hated my friends, but mornings like this tested my patience. "OY! Are you planning to get up, or should I just let it ring for eternity?" I jabbed Priti's shoulder. "Yeah, yeah, wait for the sixth ring," she mumbled, her voice muffled by the pillow. "That's when I'll go to the gym." By the time the alarm rang for the tenth time, they finally stirred and shuffled off home. As soon as they left, I grabbed the journal I'd kept hidden since yesterday. I hadn't had a chance to look at it—until now. Let's do this. I sat at the table, my heart pounding as I opened it. An empty journal? Are you kidding me? Why fight so hard to keep this hidden if there's nothing in it? I even got my reading glasses for this! There has to be something. Anyt
March, 2015 I immediately tried to step out as the lift doors opened, desperate to save myself from more embarrassment, but Darsh caught my arm. Without a word, he tugged me along and led me to the terrace. The moment we were alone, I found myself pinned against the all-too-familiar wall once again. "I thought we agreed never to like each other again?" he asked, his voice calm but his eyes stormy, reminding me of the heated conversation we had two weeks ago. I sighed, too drained to fight. "It's your fault for choosing a college so far away from me. Baby, I can't even survive two weeks without you, and now you're leaving for God knows how long," I said, my frustration spilling over. His intense gaze softened for a moment before he leaned in and captured my lips. The world around us disappeared as the space between us seemed to explode. My heart raced, each beat thundering in my chest, as his hands found their way under my shirt, his touch igniting a fire across my bare skin. I coul
March, 2015 Darsh's POV: "You have to believe me! She rolled her eyes at me when I kissed you," Ava said, glaring at my dog with all the conviction in the world. She sat on my lap, arms wrapped around me, her pout making me laugh suppressively. I never thought I'd find myself so eager, so patient to listen to someone talk endlessly. I've always hated listening to people blabber. I still do except when it's her. I always act uninterested when she's talking, but the truth is, I hang onto every word that comes out of her mouth. Even now, I remember the first time I saw her. Her eyes twinkled with mischief, and a little drool on the corner of her lips made me chuckle. She was adorable and still is. Ava tries to be the world's best actor, but she's terrible at it. She gets caught every time she pulls one of her silly pranks on any girl who gets too close to me. This crazy girlfriend of mine has been stalking me since the day we met. She knew my entire schedule: what shirt I'd wear, wh
March, 2015 Ava's POV: "Ava, we are concerned too, but Kyra is alright now and they are investigating the case. Just eat. It's been a day since you ate anything," Abhi pleaded for what felt like the hundredth time. It's not that I'm on a hunger strike. It's just... everything happened in the blink of an eye. One moment, we were immature teenagers, and the next, we were victims and suspects. They've taken Darsh in for questioning. It's too much to digest. Every time I try to take a bite, my stomach churns, refusing to cooperate. I've been sitting outside Kyra's hospital room for over an hour, staring blankly at the wall, replaying the events over and over since they took Darsh away. Darsh's parents left to talk to their lawyer. Virin's family stayed here with us, their somber presence a reminder of the gravity of the situation. My mom was busy comforting the twins' mother, but even she couldn't hide her own anxiety. "I'm sorry to bother you further, but we need to ask some questi
March, 2015 Darsh's POV: I sat in a wooden chair in front of a wooden desk. Across from me, a man lounged with his evening tea balanced precariously on a saucer resting on his potbelly. According to them, I tried to kill my friend, and the damning evidence was a keychain. Fu*k my life. "Sir, I have been sitting here for more than an hour. First of all, this is a waste of time. The real criminal, the one who stabbed her, is still out there," I said, disrupting his serene tea-drinking session. His moustache twitched, clearly displeased. "Hmm," he hummed, putting down the cup. "We will be the judge of whether or not this is a waste of time." He pulled out a pen and paper, his demeanor stiffening. "Now, tell me again." "The keychain is mine. I'm not denying that," I said firmly. "But it was with me in the car when I took Kyra to the hospital. She must have grabbed something else from the criminal. This keychain is a distraction." I leaned forward. "My girlfriend can confirm that I wa
March, 2015 Ava's POV: I most definitely didn't imagine my week like this when I suggested we should plan something for this weekend at the café. My mom was driving me home, fuming from the conversation at the hospital. "How long has this been going on? How long have you been lying and sneaking around with him?!" she demanded as soon as we got home, her voice cutting through the silence like a whip. I froze, her words shocking me to my core. "What do you even know about us to talk like that!" I shot back, my voice shaking with a mix of anger and hurt. "Shut up! Don't even try to defend what you did. Is this what you've been doing every time you said you were going to Priti's?" she snapped, her glare searing into me. "Ma, please. If you found out any other way, you wouldn't be reacting like this," I pleaded, my voice trembling. "Mmhmm. How would I react any other way when I find out that my daughter is sleeping around?" she shouted, her voice dripping with disdain. "Mom! How cou
March 2015 Ava's POV "You stay right here. Don't pull any more stunts; I'll be back in ten minutes," my mom instructed sternly before leaving me with Kyra and Priti in the hospital room. I nodded, keeping my head down, doing my best impression of an obedient daughter until she left. The moment the door clicked shut, I exhaled and sprawled out on the couch at the end of the room. "Oh my God, that's it! I'm eloping with Darsh. Final decision!" I declared dramatically, leaning back with faux exasperation. Kyra snorted, while Priti shot me an incredulous look. "What? I'm serious. Start preparing to be an aunt, Priti!" "Stop it," Priti hissed. "If your mom hears you, she'll throw you out the window." "It wouldn't be any worse than her endless lectures," I retorted, rolling my eyes. "It's been a week since I last saw him. She even confiscated my phone when she caught me sneaking back after meeting Darsh that night." I sighed, feeling the weight of my mom's iron-fisted control pressing
Ava’s POV: "Ava, let's g-", My mom called for me as soon as she returned from the Canteen. Before she could finish her sentence I bolted. I didn't wait to hear the rest of her sentence. She called out after me, confused, but I didn't care. I stormed down the hallway, my heels clicking furiously against the tiles, when she caught up. "Why do you look like that?" she asked, eyeing me suspiciously. "Nothing," I said through gritted teeth, trying to maintain some semblance of control. "God, what did you do now?" she muttered, exasperated. That was it. I stopped dead in my tracks, spinning to face her. "Do you hate me so much that you couldn't even give me a choice about who I want in my life?!" I yelled, my voice echoing down the corridor. She froze, stunned by my outburst. "What are you talking about?" "When were you planning to tell me about the engagement?" I asked, my voice sharp and unforgiving. Her expression shifted as realization dawned. "Ava, let me explain. It's not as b
Ava's POV:"This is from her ear piercing. She was so tiny just months old, look at her cute chubby cheeks and pouting mouth. They told me a gunshot was easier and less painful. But, man the second she cried. I cried with her and shouted at those innocent people", I explained to Abhi showing a video of Sara. "And this one", I laughed zooming in on the picture. "When I first got her home. Rocher was adamant on keeping her away from me. You know she came up with ideas to take our baby far while I was sleeping and cuddled with me", he looked at me like he couldn't believe it. "But I thought dogs love kids?", he asked me going through the pictures. "She does love Sara But, Rocher just got jealous at the time. They fight like siblings", I smiled looking at Sara's picture where she was covered with chocolate all over her face then he went to the next one. "I quickly grabbed my phone and shot this one while she was taking her first steps", I told him with adoration. I was so proud of her a
Ava's pov:"Abhi, your face was hilarious", I teased him as we left the cafe. The lift doors closed and I was laughing hard clutching the handle on my side. We were the only ones in here so I didn't hold back.I was still laughing as he suddenly grabbed my left buttock firmly in his right hand, brushing my long hair to the right side with his left hand before placing it on the back of my head. He tilted his head down to stare into my eyes, "You look gorgeous in this dress", I turned red as he stared at me with lust, rubbing his thumb over my bottom lip. "But I don't like it that you dressed for another man", then he kissed me deeply mouth to mouth. Holding my hair, and ass in his hands until the elevator came to an abrupt stop. The lights blinked and elevator doors were still closed, but it's not moving either! "What's wrong?", I panicked moving to the doors as Abhi just hugged me from behind pressing his nose into my neck. "I pressed the stop button and I guess it messed the whole th
Ava's Pov:"Ava, what did he say?", My mom asked me as I got out of my room. "Ma, Sara barely recovered concentrate on your granddaughter please", I went to the fridge dodging her. My parents are panicking more than me. Knowing them, Understandable. "I love my Sara and I know she is better now. Don't divert this. It's been a day since you told him. Why is he taking time if he is not thinking otherwise?", I rolled my eyes and sat down on the stool by the counter in the kitchen drinking some water. "It's been 19 hours and most of it was night. Let him think Ma, it's a big decision on anyone. You swore to not look at him again, before Sara happened or should I remind you the exact dialogue", I said peacefully when I am nowhere near that. This is what bothers me. I don't want them to accept Abhi because of Sara. I want them to look at him as he is. "Ava, what if he decides to not come back to you?", my dad came in asking me. "It's Abhi Pa, I didn't tell him for my reasons. But, I alway
Ava's pov:A week has gone by just like that. It was busy with shopping and site seeing around the town for Varun and Sara since they are new here. Now after a week, I wanted to rest. But, no. These people come up with new ideas to make my days more busy. It's alright weddings don't happen every day. "Right! Everyone line up!", The most enthusiastic one of the group Virin shouted through the mic. Yes, mic he planned a whole game day today. The wedding is in three weeks but, all the ceremonies start in two more weeks. Virin and Priti's close families are already here.House full of guests. We were in the twin's garden right now. All their cousins are here too. Some of Priti's cousins were giving me weird looks and I understand why. I killed their cousin. Even though everyone knows what kind of a person he was. They are still shocked to see me in person. It's making me uncomfortable. But, this is expected. Abhi came in talking on the phone. I was watching his every move. At least this
Ava's Pov:"Good morning Pa", I yawned leaning on my dad, Who was busy with a newspaper. He kissed my forehead drawing me into him more as I got comfortable on his shoulder. "What about me?", my mom lifted her hand. She was working in the kitchen making Sunday special breakfast Puri. "I love you, mummy", I smiled lazily. I was still sleepy. "What about Sara and Varun?", my mom asked. "They are still sleeping", It was a busy day yesterday. "Okay, as you are already awake eat breakfast and get ready Nana, we need to go shopping. Swathi and Mano already called twice", My mom is ecstatic that her two best friends are going to be relatives through this wedding. Not just their mums even Kyra and Priti will be related wow. "Mammy!", Sara shouted. I got up from the sofa and ran to my room, she was restless looking around my room half asleep. "Shh, it's okay Sara. You are in my room", I hugged her sleeping on the bed. She still needs to get used to a new place. Roche was already up and lick
No Pov:"Priti, I am nervous", Virin fidgeted in his place waiting for Kyra and Ava. "It's been years that's expected", Priti smiled. Aakash and Savi stood behind the young couple excited to see their daughter. "Sara! Behave baby", Ava widened her eyes trying to intimidate Sara as she tried to punch Rocher. "But, mama she is imitating my every move", She pouted. "Keera mamma!", She complained to Kyra as she and Varun were busy with the luggage. "Okay, okay. Leave it, baby aren't you excited to see everyone? You'll meet Virin and Priri for the first time no? Don't ruin your mood come here", Ava lifted the four-year-old as the little one leaned onto her bosom getting comfortable, poking her tongue at Rocher who was sitting on the cabin bag rolling her eyes. "You okay? Kyra asked Ava as they walked out hand in hand. They both shared excitement but, she is scared too. Ava carried Sara and Kyra got Rocher as Varun was moving luggage. They looked around for a few seconds as Ava let a su
No POV: Abhi and Ava are 25. Promise this is the last lapse. (hopefully)~~~~"We are getting married!!!", Priti shouted as Ava and Kyra stood up closing their mouths, watching the couple through the laptop. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!", They both caught each other's hands jumping up and down. Sara the four year started jumping with them even though she didn't know why. Virin and Priti just laughed watching the three. "Yes!!! Finally!! We three will dance to the song we dreamed of in Sangeet! And Oh! Oh! Kyra and I will get matching clothes as you. We will play your love story! Kyra will be Virin and I will be Priti! Most important of all will take tons of pictures and videos!!!", Their excitement reached the ceiling as they talked about all the things they planned to do when one of the three gets married."We'll do all that but, don't forget! It's in a month. I want both of your asses here before the weekend. I don't care about any excuses, take leave! It's high time Ava. At least Kyra
Third person's pov: After 2 years:"Hi, my parents like your family so much. And don't mind me saying this out of the blue but, you look gorgeous in person", Ava gave a fake smile refraining so hard from rolling her eyes. Instead, she tucked a hair strand behind her ear and caught the end of her Dupatta. "I work in Meta. I-", Ava cut him off before he reads out his biodata. "Did you know I was married before?", The guy lifted his brows like he didn't sign up for this. "I have two kids with him. I have no problem with him my family doesn't approve of him so they just forced me to leave him and here I am", He didn't look convinced and was about to call her BS. "This is him by the way", She showed a picture of her and Abhi kissing on the lips. "Hot right? You should know if by any chance they get me married to you. Future kids will still look like him", He was up and running down the stairs but not before. "You don't have to disrespect people calling them to your house".She didn't w
Ava's POV:'A loved son and friend now resting safe and at peace' I took out the dried flowers and replaced them with fresh ones. Doing the same with Sharon's grave which resided side by side."Oh, hey baby. You need some help picking up the garbage", Arun said lifting his eyebrows silly at Sharon."If you want to keep all your teeth intact. NEVER call me baby again", Said Sharon giving him a death stare."I love you too baby", came his reply annoying her more.""Are you still bickering?", I asked smiling through the tears. "Ava, man, I love her so much. God, I want to kiss that uncensored mouth almost every second of my life", I scrunched my nose as Arun smirked watching Sharon walk by us, rolling her eyes at him. "How can I forgive myself?", I hiccuped resting my hands on them. "Isn't simple to just sit there and cry when all it takes for you is what? Days? Months? To move on with your life?", I whipped my head towards Sharon's parents. "Stop it Neerja", Sharon's father caught h
