Darsh's POV: I sat in a wooden chair in front of a wooden desk. Across from me, a man lounged with his evening tea balanced precariously on a saucer resting on his potbelly. According to them, I tried to kill my friend, and the damning evidence was a keychain. Fu*k my life. "Sir, I have been sitting here for more than an hour. First of all, this is a waste of time. The real criminal, the one who stabbed her, is still out there," I said, disrupting his serene tea-drinking session. His moustache twitched, clearly displeased. "Hmm," he hummed, putting down the cup. "We will be the judge of whether or not this is a waste of time." He pulled out a pen and paper, his demeanor stiffening. "Now, tell me again." "The keychain is mine. I'm not denying that," I said firmly. "But it was with me in the car when I took Kyra to the hospital. She must have grabbed something else from the criminal. This keychain is a distraction." I leaned forward. "My girlfriend can confirm that I was home when Kyra was kidnapped. You can also check the CCTV footage from the store I went to and the parking lot of my apartment." "You'll be free once we confirm everything you just said," he replied, his tone indifferent. I leaned back in the chair, exasperated. We went from having brunch and carefree plans to this—sitting in an interrogation room, accused of attempted murder. Who would have thought life could turn upside down in mere moments? The enclosed space felt suffocating, knowing the criminal was still out there, free to strike again. I lost track of time. Eventually, a voice cut through my daze: "You can leave. You've been granted bail." I stood and walked out to find my concerned parents waiting on a bench. Their relief was evident, but their silence was deafening. The ride home was unbearable. No accusations, no questions—just silence. I wished they'd shout or demand answers. Anything but this. Finally, I broke the tension. "Why are you all acting like I'm guilty? Like I'm the one who stabbed Kyra?" My dad's voice was sharp. "There's no CCTV footage proving you were at the store. Someone tampered with the parking lot cameras. There's practically no evidence proving your innocence." "Dad, that's not an issue. You know I was home when it happened. I even have the receipt for the payment," I argued. "That's not what we're concerned about!" he yelled, slamming his fist on the table. "This will ruin your future. You're involved in a police case! As soon as this is over, you're going to London." "I've been accepted to a college here. I don't need to—" "I'm NOT asking! I'm informing you," he barked, cutting me off. He stormed out of the room, the slam of his door echoing through the flat. I turned to my mom, desperate. "This is ridiculous. Why should I run away when I've done nothing wrong?" Her expression was grave, her voice low. "I agree with your dad. Why give up on your dream college? Is it because of that 'girlfriend' of yours?" Her words left me stunned. "What do you mean?" Panic bubbled in my chest. Did the police question her in front of everyone? Is Ava okay? I needed to check on her. "You're not ruining your life for a petty love story," she said coldly. "You're leaving, and that's final." "It's my choice! I decide whether I stay or leave!" I shouted, turning to leave, sick of their decisions controlling my life. "Oh, please do decide—when to pack. We're moving out of this town the day this case is closed," she said, her words halting me mid-step. ~~**~~March, 2015 Ava's POV: I most definitely didn't imagine my week like this when I suggested we should plan something for this weekend at the café. My mom was driving me home, fuming from the conversation at the hospital. "How long has this been going on? How long have you been lying and sneaking around with him?!" she demanded as soon as we got home, her voice cutting through the silence like a whip. I froze, her words shocking me to my core. "What do you even know about us to talk like that!" I shot back, my voice shaking with a mix of anger and hurt. "Shut up! Don't even try to defend what you did. Is this what you've been doing every time you said you were going to Priti's?" she snapped, her glare searing into me. "Ma, please. If you found out any other way, you wouldn't be reacting like this," I pleaded, my voice trembling. "Mmhmm. How would I react any other way when I find out that my daughter is sleeping around?" she shouted, her voice dripping with disdain. "Mom! How cou
March 2015 Ava's POV "You stay right here. Don't pull any more stunts; I'll be back in ten minutes," my mom instructed sternly before leaving me with Kyra and Priti in the hospital room. I nodded, keeping my head down, doing my best impression of an obedient daughter until she left. The moment the door clicked shut, I exhaled and sprawled out on the couch at the end of the room. "Oh my God, that's it! I'm eloping with Darsh. Final decision!" I declared dramatically, leaning back with faux exasperation. Kyra snorted, while Priti shot me an incredulous look. "What? I'm serious. Start preparing to be an aunt, Priti!" "Stop it," Priti hissed. "If your mom hears you, she'll throw you out the window." "It wouldn't be any worse than her endless lectures," I retorted, rolling my eyes. "It's been a week since I last saw him. She even confiscated my phone when she caught me sneaking back after meeting Darsh that night." I sighed, feeling the weight of my mom's iron-fisted control pressing
Ava’s POV: "Ava, let's g-", My mom called for me as soon as she returned from the Canteen. Before she could finish her sentence I bolted. I didn't wait to hear the rest of her sentence. She called out after me, confused, but I didn't care. I stormed down the hallway, my heels clicking furiously against the tiles, when she caught up. "Why do you look like that?" she asked, eyeing me suspiciously. "Nothing," I said through gritted teeth, trying to maintain some semblance of control. "God, what did you do now?" she muttered, exasperated. That was it. I stopped dead in my tracks, spinning to face her. "Do you hate me so much that you couldn't even give me a choice about who I want in my life?!" I yelled, my voice echoing down the corridor. She froze, stunned by my outburst. "What are you talking about?" "When were you planning to tell me about the engagement?" I asked, my voice sharp and unforgiving. Her expression shifted as realization dawned. "Ava, let me explain. It's not as b
After a week: Ava's POV "I just fed you, for God's sake! Let me take a nap," I groaned as Rocher barked directly in my ear, her persistence impossible to ignore. "What is it now?" I sighed, sitting up, my hair a tousled mess. Rocher tilted her head, her sharp eyes studying me with what felt like judgment. I rubbed my temples and started counting on my fingers. "Walking? Check. Feeding? Check. What else could you possibly want?" Her disapproving stare didn't waver. "Oh, right. The collar," I said, realization dawning. She wagged her tail like a queen who'd just received her due recognition. "Huh, fine. Let's go," I muttered, scooping her up. Her victorious bark was almost smug as we headed out. *** "Leave it, Rocher! That's too expensive! Are you trying to bankrupt me?" I whisper-yelled, tugging at the fancy, rhinestone-encrusted collar she had clamped in her teeth. She was holding on for dear life, her determination unmatched. Out of all the budget-friendly options, she had to
August 2015 Ava's POV "Please check the number you have dialed." The same automated voice echoed in my ear, one I had grown numb to over the past few months. He's not coming back. How hard is it to accept? I squatted down, my finger tracing over the faded letters etched into the wall: D&A encased in a heart. The immaturity of it stung. I glanced around the terrace, letting out a shaky breath as the heaviness crept in, weighing down my chest. Every corner of this space held a memory of us—each one a bittersweet reminder. My phone vibrated in my pocket, snapping me out of the spiral. For a fleeting second, hope fluttered, irrational and stubborn. But reality struck as I saw the name on the screen. "Ava, they're leaving now. Come down," Abhi's voice broke through. Why did I still hope it would be him? How pathetic. "I'll be there in a minute," I replied, masking my disappointment. *** "Miss me every day, okay?" Virin said, his voice catching as he kissed my cheek and pulled me i
4 Years Later (Automated Siri voice: "April 2019") Ava's POV "You know how biased you are?" I rolled my eyes at Arun, who looked back at me with an exaggerated pout. "Nope, I only have one ass," he said smugly, glancing over his shoulder. "God, you really need to follow better meme pages," I replied, crinkling my nose. "You're just jealous of my timing," he quipped, puffing out his chest. I feigned gagging at his smugness. "Jealous? Of that? Please." Before I could react, he wrapped his arm around my neck in a playful chokehold. "Oh, let me help you stop the puke. Come here," he teased. Big mistake. I stomped hard on his foot, and he let go immediately, yelping in pain. "Ow! My toe! You've ruined my chances at professional dance," he cried dramatically, grabbing my arm for support. "Who told you to mess with me?" I smirked, helping him to a nearby bench. "What's going on here?" Siddi asked, strolling over with her ever-present bag of chips. "She murdered my toe!" Arun wail
Ava's POV I crouched down, picking up the same card that greeted me every day on the terrace. Today's cringe-worthy quote read: "Have enough courage to trust love one more time." I laughed out loud, shaking my head. "God, you're getting sappier every day," I said, dialing the ingenious person behind this. Coming down the stairs. "Well, I wouldn't have to if you gave me a chance," Abhi answered, his voice carrying that familiar mix of teasing and sincerity. "It's been years, Ava. Even my stash of quotes is running dry." I bit my lip, unsure how to respond. His words hung in the air, daring me to acknowledge the unspoken question behind them. I stepped inside my room and leaned against the door. "Relax, Ava," he said after a pause, his voice softening. "Stop overthinking. I'm with Rocher in the lawn—come down." I glanced at her empty bed and sighed. "Alright, I'm coming." *** When I reached the lawn, Rocher was bounding happily around Abhi, her tongue lolling out as he tossed a s
Ava's POV "Come on, girls! It's just once a week. The least you could do is ten laps!" shouted our overly enthusiastic drill instructor. "Exactly my point, sir! We're practically sedentary for the other six days, so what's the point of killing ourselves on this one?" Sharon quipped, mumbling the last part under her breath. I couldn't help but agree. We'd just finished another grueling exam, and now this? "If you seven don't join the others in the next thirty seconds, you'll be picking up wrappers around the college for a month!" his threat rang out, making all six of us instantly abandon Sharon, who was lounging on the steps like she owned the place. "Argh! Traitors!" she groaned, dragging herself to join us on the track. "So, Ava, what's the deal with Ashu lately? Why is she on your back?" Sharon asked, already panting despite barely jogging for ten seconds. Sharon was one of the few people in this college, along with Siddi and Arun, whom I considered genuine friends. "See! Eve
Ava's POV:"This is from her ear piercing. She was so tiny just months old, look at her cute chubby cheeks and pouting mouth. They told me a gunshot was easier and less painful. But, man the second she cried. I cried with her and shouted at those innocent people", I explained to Abhi showing a video of Sara. "And this one", I laughed zooming in on the picture. "When I first got her home. Rocher was adamant on keeping her away from me. You know she came up with ideas to take our baby far while I was sleeping and cuddled with me", he looked at me like he couldn't believe it. "But I thought dogs love kids?", he asked me going through the pictures. "She does love Sara But, Rocher just got jealous at the time. They fight like siblings", I smiled looking at Sara's picture where she was covered with chocolate all over her face then he went to the next one. "I quickly grabbed my phone and shot this one while she was taking her first steps", I told him with adoration. I was so proud of her a
Ava's pov:"Abhi, your face was hilarious", I teased him as we left the cafe. The lift doors closed and I was laughing hard clutching the handle on my side. We were the only ones in here so I didn't hold back.I was still laughing as he suddenly grabbed my left buttock firmly in his right hand, brushing my long hair to the right side with his left hand before placing it on the back of my head. He tilted his head down to stare into my eyes, "You look gorgeous in this dress", I turned red as he stared at me with lust, rubbing his thumb over my bottom lip. "But I don't like it that you dressed for another man", then he kissed me deeply mouth to mouth. Holding my hair, and ass in his hands until the elevator came to an abrupt stop. The lights blinked and elevator doors were still closed, but it's not moving either! "What's wrong?", I panicked moving to the doors as Abhi just hugged me from behind pressing his nose into my neck. "I pressed the stop button and I guess it messed the whole th
Ava's Pov:"Ava, what did he say?", My mom asked me as I got out of my room. "Ma, Sara barely recovered concentrate on your granddaughter please", I went to the fridge dodging her. My parents are panicking more than me. Knowing them, Understandable. "I love my Sara and I know she is better now. Don't divert this. It's been a day since you told him. Why is he taking time if he is not thinking otherwise?", I rolled my eyes and sat down on the stool by the counter in the kitchen drinking some water. "It's been 19 hours and most of it was night. Let him think Ma, it's a big decision on anyone. You swore to not look at him again, before Sara happened or should I remind you the exact dialogue", I said peacefully when I am nowhere near that. This is what bothers me. I don't want them to accept Abhi because of Sara. I want them to look at him as he is. "Ava, what if he decides to not come back to you?", my dad came in asking me. "It's Abhi Pa, I didn't tell him for my reasons. But, I alway
Ava's pov:A week has gone by just like that. It was busy with shopping and site seeing around the town for Varun and Sara since they are new here. Now after a week, I wanted to rest. But, no. These people come up with new ideas to make my days more busy. It's alright weddings don't happen every day. "Right! Everyone line up!", The most enthusiastic one of the group Virin shouted through the mic. Yes, mic he planned a whole game day today. The wedding is in three weeks but, all the ceremonies start in two more weeks. Virin and Priti's close families are already here.House full of guests. We were in the twin's garden right now. All their cousins are here too. Some of Priti's cousins were giving me weird looks and I understand why. I killed their cousin. Even though everyone knows what kind of a person he was. They are still shocked to see me in person. It's making me uncomfortable. But, this is expected. Abhi came in talking on the phone. I was watching his every move. At least this
Ava's Pov:"Good morning Pa", I yawned leaning on my dad, Who was busy with a newspaper. He kissed my forehead drawing me into him more as I got comfortable on his shoulder. "What about me?", my mom lifted her hand. She was working in the kitchen making Sunday special breakfast Puri. "I love you, mummy", I smiled lazily. I was still sleepy. "What about Sara and Varun?", my mom asked. "They are still sleeping", It was a busy day yesterday. "Okay, as you are already awake eat breakfast and get ready Nana, we need to go shopping. Swathi and Mano already called twice", My mom is ecstatic that her two best friends are going to be relatives through this wedding. Not just their mums even Kyra and Priti will be related wow. "Mammy!", Sara shouted. I got up from the sofa and ran to my room, she was restless looking around my room half asleep. "Shh, it's okay Sara. You are in my room", I hugged her sleeping on the bed. She still needs to get used to a new place. Roche was already up and lick
No Pov:"Priti, I am nervous", Virin fidgeted in his place waiting for Kyra and Ava. "It's been years that's expected", Priti smiled. Aakash and Savi stood behind the young couple excited to see their daughter. "Sara! Behave baby", Ava widened her eyes trying to intimidate Sara as she tried to punch Rocher. "But, mama she is imitating my every move", She pouted. "Keera mamma!", She complained to Kyra as she and Varun were busy with the luggage. "Okay, okay. Leave it, baby aren't you excited to see everyone? You'll meet Virin and Priri for the first time no? Don't ruin your mood come here", Ava lifted the four-year-old as the little one leaned onto her bosom getting comfortable, poking her tongue at Rocher who was sitting on the cabin bag rolling her eyes. "You okay? Kyra asked Ava as they walked out hand in hand. They both shared excitement but, she is scared too. Ava carried Sara and Kyra got Rocher as Varun was moving luggage. They looked around for a few seconds as Ava let a su
No POV: Abhi and Ava are 25. Promise this is the last lapse. (hopefully)~~~~"We are getting married!!!", Priti shouted as Ava and Kyra stood up closing their mouths, watching the couple through the laptop. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!", They both caught each other's hands jumping up and down. Sara the four year started jumping with them even though she didn't know why. Virin and Priti just laughed watching the three. "Yes!!! Finally!! We three will dance to the song we dreamed of in Sangeet! And Oh! Oh! Kyra and I will get matching clothes as you. We will play your love story! Kyra will be Virin and I will be Priti! Most important of all will take tons of pictures and videos!!!", Their excitement reached the ceiling as they talked about all the things they planned to do when one of the three gets married."We'll do all that but, don't forget! It's in a month. I want both of your asses here before the weekend. I don't care about any excuses, take leave! It's high time Ava. At least Kyra
Third person's pov: After 2 years:"Hi, my parents like your family so much. And don't mind me saying this out of the blue but, you look gorgeous in person", Ava gave a fake smile refraining so hard from rolling her eyes. Instead, she tucked a hair strand behind her ear and caught the end of her Dupatta. "I work in Meta. I-", Ava cut him off before he reads out his biodata. "Did you know I was married before?", The guy lifted his brows like he didn't sign up for this. "I have two kids with him. I have no problem with him my family doesn't approve of him so they just forced me to leave him and here I am", He didn't look convinced and was about to call her BS. "This is him by the way", She showed a picture of her and Abhi kissing on the lips. "Hot right? You should know if by any chance they get me married to you. Future kids will still look like him", He was up and running down the stairs but not before. "You don't have to disrespect people calling them to your house".She didn't w
Ava's POV:'A loved son and friend now resting safe and at peace' I took out the dried flowers and replaced them with fresh ones. Doing the same with Sharon's grave which resided side by side."Oh, hey baby. You need some help picking up the garbage", Arun said lifting his eyebrows silly at Sharon."If you want to keep all your teeth intact. NEVER call me baby again", Said Sharon giving him a death stare."I love you too baby", came his reply annoying her more.""Are you still bickering?", I asked smiling through the tears. "Ava, man, I love her so much. God, I want to kiss that uncensored mouth almost every second of my life", I scrunched my nose as Arun smirked watching Sharon walk by us, rolling her eyes at him. "How can I forgive myself?", I hiccuped resting my hands on them. "Isn't simple to just sit there and cry when all it takes for you is what? Days? Months? To move on with your life?", I whipped my head towards Sharon's parents. "Stop it Neerja", Sharon's father caught h
