Darsh's POV: "You have to believe me! She rolled her eyes at me when I kissed you," Ava said, glaring at my dog with all the conviction in the world. She sat on my lap, arms wrapped around me, her pout making me laugh suppressively. I never thought I'd find myself so eager, so patient to listen to someone talk endlessly. I've always hated listening to people blabber. I still do except when it's her. I always act uninterested when she's talking, but the truth is, I hang onto every word that comes out of her mouth. Even now, I remember the first time I saw her. Her eyes twinkled with mischief, and a little drool on the corner of her lips made me chuckle. She was adorable and still is. Ava tries to be the world's best actor, but she's terrible at it. She gets caught every time she pulls one of her silly pranks on any girl who gets too close to me. This crazy girlfriend of mine has been stalking me since the day we met. She knew my entire schedule: what shirt I'd wear, what I'd crave for lunch, even which manga I'd read next. It didn't freak me out. If anything, it made me feel like the luckiest bastard alive. How many people can say their partner knows them in and out? She thinks I don't know about her antics. But I do. Like the time she threw a mixture of paint and glue on Ashu when she tried to kiss me. Or the times she left gifts in front of my door—my favorite manga, a cricket bat signed by Dhoni all with an "A" etched somewhere as her signature. I don't know what stopped her from asking me out, but I didn't want to wait. So, I made the first move. What she doesn't realize is that the attraction has always been mutual. "What are you thinking about?" she asked, her voice pulling me back from my thoughts. "Nothing," I said, leaning in to peck her lips. "Have you packed everything yet?" "Oh, I almost forgot I need to buy a new charger," she said, starting to get up from my lap. But I tightened my grip around her waist, not ready to let go just yet. "Someone will have the same charger as you," I murmured against her neck, my lips brushing her skin. "But we may not get to be alone for the entire week, Ava..." I trailed off, rolling my lips down her neck, stopping just where I knew her weak spot was. She arched her back, just as I expected. Smirking, I kissed her again, savoring every second. Just when things were getting good, the doorbell rang. Of course. Everyone seems to have impeccable timing when it comes to interrupting us. Grumbling under my breath, I opened the door just enough to see who it was. My cousin Priti barged in, shouting, "Ava, emergency! Come with me now." Ava looked at me, confused, before Priti dragged her out. I sighed, promising to get her charger before morning and grabbing my car keys. Driving back with the charger, I realized it was past 10 p.m. the town's closing time. The roads were quiet, and it would only take about six minutes to get home. My phone buzzed. I reached over to answer it, taking my eyes off the road for just a second. What happened next shattered everything. The world seemed to slow down as my headlights illuminated a figure darting into the road. My heart stopped. Adrenaline surged through me as I slammed the brakes, the tires screeching in protest. The car lurched violently to a halt, the smell of burnt rubber filling the air. I sat frozen, gripping the steering wheel as my breathing turned ragged. My hands trembled as I unbuckled the seatbelt, dread pooling in my stomach. When I stepped out, my legs felt like they'd give away beneath me. And then I saw her. Kyra. Her body lay crumpled on the ground, blood streaking her forehead, and pooling beneath her. For a moment, I couldn't breathe. The sight knocked the wind out of me, leaving my chest hollow. My knees hit the pavement as I scrambled to her side. "Kyra?! Kyra!" I shouted, my voice breaking. I shook her gently, slapping her cheeks in a desperate attempt to wake her. Her skin felt clammy, lifeless. I pressed my fingers to her neck, searching for a pulse. Relief hit me like a tidal wave when I found it, faint but steady. She was still alive. Panic kicked in, giving my shaky limbs the strength to act. I scooped her up and carried her to the car, my mind racing with a hundred questions. Why was she here? What happened? The drive to the hospital was a blur of flashing lights and blaring horns as I ran every red light. My hands were slick on the wheel, my heart hammering against my ribs. My breath came in short, shallow bursts as I dialed everyone I could think of. At the hospital, chaos erupted. Doctors swarmed Kyra, whisking her away to the emergency room. The police arrived soon after, bombarding me with questions. I tried to explain, but my mind was spinning. I told them everything I knew. Her family arrived, their faces etched with fear and anger. Her mother's wails pierced the air as her father's icy glare bore into me. Virin clung to Abhi, his expression torn between rage and despair. I couldn't take it anymore. The walls felt like they were closing in. I nodded at Abhi, who seemed to understand and slipped outside. Sitting on a bench outside the hospital, I buried my face in my hands. We were supposed to be packing right now. Tomorrow, we'd be sitting around a bonfire, laughing, and playing stupid games. And now everything had changed in just one hour. "Darsh," her voice called, trembling yet comforting. I ran to her, pulling her into the tightest hug I'd ever given. "Ava, I... I..." My words caught in my throat. I didn't know how to explain. Didn't know how to face her. But she gripped me back, her sobs muffled against my chest. Her tears broke through the wall of guilt I'd built around myself. She needed me as much as I needed her. I held her close, whispering reassurances I wasn't even sure I believed. We went back to the ICU. My mom had a mini panic attack until I reassured her the blood on my shirt wasn't mine. The tension was suffocating as everyone leaned against the walls, waiting for any news. Finally, the doctor emerged, and we all swarmed around him. "She was stabbed twice in the stomach," he began. Everyone gasped, their confusion turning to panic. Except for the police no one else seemed to hear past the phrase, "She came out of nowhere in front of my car." Accusatory glares landed on me, but I stood frozen, guilt tightening like a noose around my neck. "She lost a lot of blood," the doctor continued, "but no vital organs were damaged except for a severe concussion. She's out of danger for now, but we'll keep her under observation for 24 hours." It took 37 hours for Kyra to wake up. Once she was stable, the police took her statement. She recalled walking to Priti's house when someone placed a cloth over her nose. After that, she didn't remember anything. But before she passed out, she managed to grab something: a keychain with the letter "D" on it. When the police showed it to me, my blood ran cold. Virin's disbelieving gaze burned into me, and Ava gasped. They both knew it was mine because they both selected it together. Could this get any worse? ~~***~~March, 2015 Ava's POV: "Ava, we are concerned too, but Kyra is alright now and they are investigating the case. Just eat. It's been a day since you ate anything," Abhi pleaded for what felt like the hundredth time. It's not that I'm on a hunger strike. It's just... everything happened in the blink of an eye. One moment, we were immature teenagers, and the next, we were victims and suspects. They've taken Darsh in for questioning. It's too much to digest. Every time I try to take a bite, my stomach churns, refusing to cooperate. I've been sitting outside Kyra's hospital room for over an hour, staring blankly at the wall, replaying the events over and over since they took Darsh away. Darsh's parents left to talk to their lawyer. Virin's family stayed here with us, their somber presence a reminder of the gravity of the situation. My mom was busy comforting the twins' mother, but even she couldn't hide her own anxiety. "I'm sorry to bother you further, but we need to ask some questi
March, 2015 Darsh's POV: I sat in a wooden chair in front of a wooden desk. Across from me, a man lounged with his evening tea balanced precariously on a saucer resting on his potbelly. According to them, I tried to kill my friend, and the damning evidence was a keychain. Fu*k my life. "Sir, I have been sitting here for more than an hour. First of all, this is a waste of time. The real criminal, the one who stabbed her, is still out there," I said, disrupting his serene tea-drinking session. His moustache twitched, clearly displeased. "Hmm," he hummed, putting down the cup. "We will be the judge of whether or not this is a waste of time." He pulled out a pen and paper, his demeanor stiffening. "Now, tell me again." "The keychain is mine. I'm not denying that," I said firmly. "But it was with me in the car when I took Kyra to the hospital. She must have grabbed something else from the criminal. This keychain is a distraction." I leaned forward. "My girlfriend can confirm that I wa
March, 2015 Ava's POV: I most definitely didn't imagine my week like this when I suggested we should plan something for this weekend at the café. My mom was driving me home, fuming from the conversation at the hospital. "How long has this been going on? How long have you been lying and sneaking around with him?!" she demanded as soon as we got home, her voice cutting through the silence like a whip. I froze, her words shocking me to my core. "What do you even know about us to talk like that!" I shot back, my voice shaking with a mix of anger and hurt. "Shut up! Don't even try to defend what you did. Is this what you've been doing every time you said you were going to Priti's?" she snapped, her glare searing into me. "Ma, please. If you found out any other way, you wouldn't be reacting like this," I pleaded, my voice trembling. "Mmhmm. How would I react any other way when I find out that my daughter is sleeping around?" she shouted, her voice dripping with disdain. "Mom! How cou
March 2015 Ava's POV "You stay right here. Don't pull any more stunts; I'll be back in ten minutes," my mom instructed sternly before leaving me with Kyra and Priti in the hospital room. I nodded, keeping my head down, doing my best impression of an obedient daughter until she left. The moment the door clicked shut, I exhaled and sprawled out on the couch at the end of the room. "Oh my God, that's it! I'm eloping with Darsh. Final decision!" I declared dramatically, leaning back with faux exasperation. Kyra snorted, while Priti shot me an incredulous look. "What? I'm serious. Start preparing to be an aunt, Priti!" "Stop it," Priti hissed. "If your mom hears you, she'll throw you out the window." "It wouldn't be any worse than her endless lectures," I retorted, rolling my eyes. "It's been a week since I last saw him. She even confiscated my phone when she caught me sneaking back after meeting Darsh that night." I sighed, feeling the weight of my mom's iron-fisted control pressing
Ava’s POV: "Ava, let's g-", My mom called for me as soon as she returned from the Canteen. Before she could finish her sentence I bolted. I didn't wait to hear the rest of her sentence. She called out after me, confused, but I didn't care. I stormed down the hallway, my heels clicking furiously against the tiles, when she caught up. "Why do you look like that?" she asked, eyeing me suspiciously. "Nothing," I said through gritted teeth, trying to maintain some semblance of control. "God, what did you do now?" she muttered, exasperated. That was it. I stopped dead in my tracks, spinning to face her. "Do you hate me so much that you couldn't even give me a choice about who I want in my life?!" I yelled, my voice echoing down the corridor. She froze, stunned by my outburst. "What are you talking about?" "When were you planning to tell me about the engagement?" I asked, my voice sharp and unforgiving. Her expression shifted as realization dawned. "Ava, let me explain. It's not as b
After a week: Ava's POV "I just fed you, for God's sake! Let me take a nap," I groaned as Rocher barked directly in my ear, her persistence impossible to ignore. "What is it now?" I sighed, sitting up, my hair a tousled mess. Rocher tilted her head, her sharp eyes studying me with what felt like judgment. I rubbed my temples and started counting on my fingers. "Walking? Check. Feeding? Check. What else could you possibly want?" Her disapproving stare didn't waver. "Oh, right. The collar," I said, realization dawning. She wagged her tail like a queen who'd just received her due recognition. "Huh, fine. Let's go," I muttered, scooping her up. Her victorious bark was almost smug as we headed out. *** "Leave it, Rocher! That's too expensive! Are you trying to bankrupt me?" I whisper-yelled, tugging at the fancy, rhinestone-encrusted collar she had clamped in her teeth. She was holding on for dear life, her determination unmatched. Out of all the budget-friendly options, she had to
August 2015 Ava's POV "Please check the number you have dialed." The same automated voice echoed in my ear, one I had grown numb to over the past few months. He's not coming back. How hard is it to accept? I squatted down, my finger tracing over the faded letters etched into the wall: D&A encased in a heart. The immaturity of it stung. I glanced around the terrace, letting out a shaky breath as the heaviness crept in, weighing down my chest. Every corner of this space held a memory of us—each one a bittersweet reminder. My phone vibrated in my pocket, snapping me out of the spiral. For a fleeting second, hope fluttered, irrational and stubborn. But reality struck as I saw the name on the screen. "Ava, they're leaving now. Come down," Abhi's voice broke through. Why did I still hope it would be him? How pathetic. "I'll be there in a minute," I replied, masking my disappointment. *** "Miss me every day, okay?" Virin said, his voice catching as he kissed my cheek and pulled me i
4 Years Later (Automated Siri voice: "April 2019") Ava's POV "You know how biased you are?" I rolled my eyes at Arun, who looked back at me with an exaggerated pout. "Nope, I only have one ass," he said smugly, glancing over his shoulder. "God, you really need to follow better meme pages," I replied, crinkling my nose. "You're just jealous of my timing," he quipped, puffing out his chest. I feigned gagging at his smugness. "Jealous? Of that? Please." Before I could react, he wrapped his arm around my neck in a playful chokehold. "Oh, let me help you stop the puke. Come here," he teased. Big mistake. I stomped hard on his foot, and he let go immediately, yelping in pain. "Ow! My toe! You've ruined my chances at professional dance," he cried dramatically, grabbing my arm for support. "Who told you to mess with me?" I smirked, helping him to a nearby bench. "What's going on here?" Siddi asked, strolling over with her ever-present bag of chips. "She murdered my toe!" Arun wail
Ava's POV:"This is from her ear piercing. She was so tiny just months old, look at her cute chubby cheeks and pouting mouth. They told me a gunshot was easier and less painful. But, man the second she cried. I cried with her and shouted at those innocent people", I explained to Abhi showing a video of Sara. "And this one", I laughed zooming in on the picture. "When I first got her home. Rocher was adamant on keeping her away from me. You know she came up with ideas to take our baby far while I was sleeping and cuddled with me", he looked at me like he couldn't believe it. "But I thought dogs love kids?", he asked me going through the pictures. "She does love Sara But, Rocher just got jealous at the time. They fight like siblings", I smiled looking at Sara's picture where she was covered with chocolate all over her face then he went to the next one. "I quickly grabbed my phone and shot this one while she was taking her first steps", I told him with adoration. I was so proud of her a
Ava's pov:"Abhi, your face was hilarious", I teased him as we left the cafe. The lift doors closed and I was laughing hard clutching the handle on my side. We were the only ones in here so I didn't hold back.I was still laughing as he suddenly grabbed my left buttock firmly in his right hand, brushing my long hair to the right side with his left hand before placing it on the back of my head. He tilted his head down to stare into my eyes, "You look gorgeous in this dress", I turned red as he stared at me with lust, rubbing his thumb over my bottom lip. "But I don't like it that you dressed for another man", then he kissed me deeply mouth to mouth. Holding my hair, and ass in his hands until the elevator came to an abrupt stop. The lights blinked and elevator doors were still closed, but it's not moving either! "What's wrong?", I panicked moving to the doors as Abhi just hugged me from behind pressing his nose into my neck. "I pressed the stop button and I guess it messed the whole th
Ava's Pov:"Ava, what did he say?", My mom asked me as I got out of my room. "Ma, Sara barely recovered concentrate on your granddaughter please", I went to the fridge dodging her. My parents are panicking more than me. Knowing them, Understandable. "I love my Sara and I know she is better now. Don't divert this. It's been a day since you told him. Why is he taking time if he is not thinking otherwise?", I rolled my eyes and sat down on the stool by the counter in the kitchen drinking some water. "It's been 19 hours and most of it was night. Let him think Ma, it's a big decision on anyone. You swore to not look at him again, before Sara happened or should I remind you the exact dialogue", I said peacefully when I am nowhere near that. This is what bothers me. I don't want them to accept Abhi because of Sara. I want them to look at him as he is. "Ava, what if he decides to not come back to you?", my dad came in asking me. "It's Abhi Pa, I didn't tell him for my reasons. But, I alway
Ava's pov:A week has gone by just like that. It was busy with shopping and site seeing around the town for Varun and Sara since they are new here. Now after a week, I wanted to rest. But, no. These people come up with new ideas to make my days more busy. It's alright weddings don't happen every day. "Right! Everyone line up!", The most enthusiastic one of the group Virin shouted through the mic. Yes, mic he planned a whole game day today. The wedding is in three weeks but, all the ceremonies start in two more weeks. Virin and Priti's close families are already here.House full of guests. We were in the twin's garden right now. All their cousins are here too. Some of Priti's cousins were giving me weird looks and I understand why. I killed their cousin. Even though everyone knows what kind of a person he was. They are still shocked to see me in person. It's making me uncomfortable. But, this is expected. Abhi came in talking on the phone. I was watching his every move. At least this
Ava's Pov:"Good morning Pa", I yawned leaning on my dad, Who was busy with a newspaper. He kissed my forehead drawing me into him more as I got comfortable on his shoulder. "What about me?", my mom lifted her hand. She was working in the kitchen making Sunday special breakfast Puri. "I love you, mummy", I smiled lazily. I was still sleepy. "What about Sara and Varun?", my mom asked. "They are still sleeping", It was a busy day yesterday. "Okay, as you are already awake eat breakfast and get ready Nana, we need to go shopping. Swathi and Mano already called twice", My mom is ecstatic that her two best friends are going to be relatives through this wedding. Not just their mums even Kyra and Priti will be related wow. "Mammy!", Sara shouted. I got up from the sofa and ran to my room, she was restless looking around my room half asleep. "Shh, it's okay Sara. You are in my room", I hugged her sleeping on the bed. She still needs to get used to a new place. Roche was already up and lick
No Pov:"Priti, I am nervous", Virin fidgeted in his place waiting for Kyra and Ava. "It's been years that's expected", Priti smiled. Aakash and Savi stood behind the young couple excited to see their daughter. "Sara! Behave baby", Ava widened her eyes trying to intimidate Sara as she tried to punch Rocher. "But, mama she is imitating my every move", She pouted. "Keera mamma!", She complained to Kyra as she and Varun were busy with the luggage. "Okay, okay. Leave it, baby aren't you excited to see everyone? You'll meet Virin and Priri for the first time no? Don't ruin your mood come here", Ava lifted the four-year-old as the little one leaned onto her bosom getting comfortable, poking her tongue at Rocher who was sitting on the cabin bag rolling her eyes. "You okay? Kyra asked Ava as they walked out hand in hand. They both shared excitement but, she is scared too. Ava carried Sara and Kyra got Rocher as Varun was moving luggage. They looked around for a few seconds as Ava let a su
No POV: Abhi and Ava are 25. Promise this is the last lapse. (hopefully)~~~~"We are getting married!!!", Priti shouted as Ava and Kyra stood up closing their mouths, watching the couple through the laptop. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!", They both caught each other's hands jumping up and down. Sara the four year started jumping with them even though she didn't know why. Virin and Priti just laughed watching the three. "Yes!!! Finally!! We three will dance to the song we dreamed of in Sangeet! And Oh! Oh! Kyra and I will get matching clothes as you. We will play your love story! Kyra will be Virin and I will be Priti! Most important of all will take tons of pictures and videos!!!", Their excitement reached the ceiling as they talked about all the things they planned to do when one of the three gets married."We'll do all that but, don't forget! It's in a month. I want both of your asses here before the weekend. I don't care about any excuses, take leave! It's high time Ava. At least Kyra
Third person's pov: After 2 years:"Hi, my parents like your family so much. And don't mind me saying this out of the blue but, you look gorgeous in person", Ava gave a fake smile refraining so hard from rolling her eyes. Instead, she tucked a hair strand behind her ear and caught the end of her Dupatta. "I work in Meta. I-", Ava cut him off before he reads out his biodata. "Did you know I was married before?", The guy lifted his brows like he didn't sign up for this. "I have two kids with him. I have no problem with him my family doesn't approve of him so they just forced me to leave him and here I am", He didn't look convinced and was about to call her BS. "This is him by the way", She showed a picture of her and Abhi kissing on the lips. "Hot right? You should know if by any chance they get me married to you. Future kids will still look like him", He was up and running down the stairs but not before. "You don't have to disrespect people calling them to your house".She didn't w
Ava's POV:'A loved son and friend now resting safe and at peace' I took out the dried flowers and replaced them with fresh ones. Doing the same with Sharon's grave which resided side by side."Oh, hey baby. You need some help picking up the garbage", Arun said lifting his eyebrows silly at Sharon."If you want to keep all your teeth intact. NEVER call me baby again", Said Sharon giving him a death stare."I love you too baby", came his reply annoying her more.""Are you still bickering?", I asked smiling through the tears. "Ava, man, I love her so much. God, I want to kiss that uncensored mouth almost every second of my life", I scrunched my nose as Arun smirked watching Sharon walk by us, rolling her eyes at him. "How can I forgive myself?", I hiccuped resting my hands on them. "Isn't simple to just sit there and cry when all it takes for you is what? Days? Months? To move on with your life?", I whipped my head towards Sharon's parents. "Stop it Neerja", Sharon's father caught h
