75. Let Me Live In Peace Or Kill Me Altogether

Caterina rolled her eyes in disgust when she found Leonardo in front of her. She didn't understand why he always followed her wherever she went. No matter what place she wanted to go, Leonardo was always there.

“You—” Marco looked surprised at Leonardo's arrival. Not without reason, he had begun to fear dealing with the man. There were many secrets about his crimes that Leonardo knew.

“Why, are you afraid?” Leonardo stared with a challenging look. If it wasn't for Caterina's request, he would have finished Marco long ago.

“Why should I be afraid if I've done nothing wrong?” Marco asked back. He tried to act casual even though his heart was beating very fast. He masked his fear by giving a challenging look.

“Do I need to explain all the mistakes you've made? While Kate is here, you can explain if you're innocent.” Leonardo said it casually, but it sounded so deadly to Marco's ears.

“Leo, stop disturbing other people's peace. Marco is not bothering you, so stop bothering him. Can't you see that others are happy?” Caterina asked irritably. I don't know how many times she had heard Leonardo's nonsense about Marco.

Marco couldn't help but feel happy when he heard Caterina defending him. As long as Caterina stood by him and believed in what he said, there was nothing for him to fear.

“Open your eyes wide, Kate. Is it that hard to see the truth?” Leonardo, said with emphasis.

Caterina stared intently.

“The truth is that you are cruel and have an evil heart?”

“Why do you have such perceptions? I may have made mistakes, but that doesn't mean that all the bad things that happened to you and your father must have been caused by me. I'm not that cruel.” Leonardo tried to defend himself.

“Kate, I think you should go home now. Your father must be waiting for the medicine in your hand.” Marco tried to divert attention so as not to prolong their argument. He was worried that all the lies and crimes Marco had committed would finally be exposed. He took great pains to cover up his crimes so that Caterina would never know the truth.

Caterina turned to Marco. He smiled slightly, seemingly forced.

“Thank you, you are understanding.” Caterina suppressed the sentence she said, then glanced sharply at Leonardo. It was as if the sentence she had just said was intended to offend Leonardo.

“Whatever.” Leonardo said with resignation; he turned around and headed for his car.

After Leonardo left, Marco knocked on Caterina's windshield.

Caterina rolled down her window. She looked at Marco questioningly.

“Call me if you need my help. I'm here for you all the time.” Marco handed Caterina a piece of paper and gave it to her. It had his cell phone number written on it. 

Caterina accepted the paper, gave a small nod, and put the paper in her grocery bag. After that, she immediately stepped into the car to get out of there. Marco waved with a smile, staring at the car that Caterina drove until it disappeared behind the distance.

Leonardo, who saw the scene, looked very upset. His jaw was hardened, a sign that he was angry. He squeezed the steering wheel very hard.

“Bastard, I want to kill you so badly!”

Leonardo drove the car at high speed. He drove his car towards Marco, deliberately wanting to hit the man. However, he aborted his intention by turning the steering wheel in the other direction and drove straight into the crowded city streets.

Marco was quite surprised by the incident. Everything happened so fast; he touched his heart, which almost stopped beating. He thought he was going to die from the impact of the car. Fortunately, Leonardo was only bluffing. If he had darted a few centimeters, his body would have been thrown away by the car crash.

“Hand over your shopping bag!” Leonardo blocked Caterina's steps towards the entrance of the mansion. He gave her a sharp look, raising his hand. His style was bossy and haughty.

Caterina clucked with annoyance. “What now?” Really, she really had to stock up on a lot of patience if she had to deal with Leonardo.

“You think I don't know what Marco gave you?” He immediately snatched the shopping bag.

Caterina just gave in with a rough sigh. She let Leonardo search the contents of the bag. Because the paper Marco gave her had been swallowed after she managed to memorize the number. She knew Leonardo would search it, so she thought quickly. It didn't take him long to memorize Marco's number.

“Where did you put the paper Marco gave you?” Leonardo was immediately interrogated because he didn't find what he was looking for.

“What paper?” Caterina pretended not to understand.

“You think I don't know? Marco gave you the number note, right?”

Caterina laughed slightly at the question. “Why would he give me his number? When you won't even let me hold a cell phone.”

That was quite a cornered question.

“You're not the type of woman to follow the rules. You could have contacted Marco secretly behind my back.”

“Using what? You destroyed my cell phone; I don't have access to the phones in this mansion either. Your men are always watching my every move. I even feel like a prisoner who can't do anything freely. You've taken away my freedom. You took away my life.”

Leonardo was silent; he didn't want to answer because he didn't want to prolong their argument.

“Please let me live in peace or just kill me.” Caterina said harshly. She grabbed her grocery bag and went inside feeling upset.
