On the underground floor of the building...
In the cold and organized office, the contrast created by the childish handmade artworks and trinkets was quite jarring to Neith’s eyes. She tried her hardest to look away from the crafts that she had made in the past and gave to her father as gifts.
Instead, she looked straight at the wall behind the man seated on the black office chair.
The man was talking but Neith was too focused on trying to keep her emotions at bay. The first thing she heard was a question asked out of exasperation.
“Why did you escape from your security detail?”
Still looking straight ahead, Neith answered straightforwardly, "I didn't want to come in such a grand way. I already agreed to the welcome ceremony. I don't need more evidence of your biased treatment that others can use against me."
'Fine.' Elāhā said in his head. There was no point to this. She's safe anyway.
He sighed, feeling exhausted already just from this small interaction.
Ever since that incident, it seemed Elāhā didn't know how to communicate with her anymore. He knew that an attempt in small talk would go in vain so he went straight to the point.
"The ceremony will start in.." Elāha looked at his black digital wristwatch then continued, "...12 minutes. Go change to your uniform."
"Yes, sir."
Neith left without even looking back to the old man behind the desk.
Elāhā felt sad and disappointed, but he couldn't do anything. He didn't know what to do. His own daughter has become so distant that it's like they're not related and are nothing more but an employer and employee. He simply returned his gaze and attention to the computer screen and tried to immerse himself in his work.
Neith, on the other hand, decisively went to her quarters, not needing any assistance. She knows the entire area and each of the buildings like the back of her hand.
There are supposed to be two people in a single room, but Neith is the eleventh female member of the team so she is to be all alone in her quarters.
She changed into the black long-sleeve top with gray sleeves, black pants, and black combat boots uniform set she saw Hades and Gaia wearing earlier. She then tied her hair into a neat bun. After which, she washed her face to remove the faint makeup she applied before leaving her home earlier. She squeezed some cream onto her hand and applied it on her face.
She then prepared her essentials - pen, recording device, some mint, and a small gun and swiss knife - into a small cross body bag.
Neith looked around the room and decided to tidy up a bit. She happened to take a glance at the digital clock that hung above the door to her restroom and saw that she still had 6 minutes and it would only take her two minutes to get to the venue of the ceremony.
Once finished, she opened the door to her room. Coincidentally, the door opposite hers also opened and a woman emerged from the room.
She must be heading out to go to the ceremony too.
Neith didn't get a good look at Gaia's and Hades' faces earlier as she was in a rush and didn't actually want to be seen upon her arrival. Thus, she didn't recognize that the woman in front of her was actually Gaia.
Gaia realized this instantly as Neith was just standing there, not knowing what to say.
Getting a longer look at Neith, Gaia thought, 'She really is majestic.'
She reminded Gaia of swans. Her appearance is delicate and graceful, like something that belongs in an ethereal impressionist painting. A picture that should be kept in a museum to be admired.
Neith was locked in her place as Gaia stared at her. Not knowing how to greet her, Neith decided to just leave without uttering a word.
If she were to be honest, she felt a bit hesitant towards her so-called classmates. She was aware that her absence from their two years of training and her sudden appearance will cause some disturbance to the group's established rapport. Evoking negative feelings was inevitable.
Gaia was befuddled when Neith just left, but she understood her thoughts. Gaia was one of the people looking forward to Neith's joining of the team. She prided herself on her sense of judgment and her impression on Neith was pretty good despite only having two brief interactions with her. It was like instinct. Similar to how dogs just bark at people seemingly randomly, but easily approach others.
When Neith arrived at the venue, she saw a few higher-ups fussing over the details of the event.
If this wasn't a dead giveaway to her identity then nothing is. These senior officers being so worried about an event for a lower class that's basically in the lowest of the chain in the institution.
She currently had the strong urge to hide her face with her hand, but ignored it to keep her composure.
She hid in the hallway to the restroom near the stage and focal point of the venue.
At exactly 15:55, all the members of the organization entered the hall. They were able to find their seats in a short time that the program started at exactly 16:00. Punctuality is one of their best suits after all.
It was just a series of speeches from different seniors at the beginning. Hades was seated with Tyr, Gaia, Kali, Jupiter, and Guanyin. These six were ranked higher than the rest of their class in training earning them lead positions in the team. Hades was looking around, turning his head in every direction. Jupiter started to feel dizzy just looking at his movements. "Hey, Hades, will you please stop moving so much? You're about to give me motion sickness." Jupiter said, his face with traces of annoyance. Kali also noticed Hades' bizarre actions. She was thankful for Jupiter reprimanding him. She didn't care what caused it, she just wanted him to stop. Hades stopped and pouted in disappointment. He didn't get to see her anywhere. Unlike the others, Gaia was amused. She smiled mischievously and said, "Don't worry, I saw her coming here earlier. She's probably around just hiding." "I didn't say I was looking for her. Shut up." Hades immediately retorted. Kali was with him on the
After Neith left the stage, Jupiter was the first one to break the silence in their table. "Wow." It was all he said. The woman was simply breathtaking. Their uniform did nothing to hide her amazing figure. They could still notice the well-proportioned body of the woman on stage. Her neck was slender. Her small face, fair-almost porcelain-like skin, those light brown eyes that looked like they shine, her full lips, and her button nose. They all shared Gaia's earlier thought, she looked like she doesn't belong on Earth, that she may have descended from some other-worldly place. Hades was smiling proudly as if he just showed off his most prized and most beautiful possession. Tyr still couldn't tear his gaze away from Neith. His eyes followed her from the stage to the tables of the seniors where she greeted them. It was a very harmonious scene. It seemed as though they were very familiar with each other. Once Neith and Gaia were gone, Bellona turned to Fūjin. "Did you notice she kept looking at you?" Bellona asked with one of her eyebrows raised. Fūjin showed a look of surprise. Not because Neith kept looking at him, but because Bellona also saw it. Seeing his response from his face, Bellona concluded that he didn't. She smirked before saying, "I think she has a crush on you." Fūjin cast an expressionless face as he turned to Bellona. "Don't speak nonsense." Tyr, Hades, Gaia, Guanyin, Jupiter, Kali, Fūjin, Bellona, Aion, Hel, Selene, Inari, Izanagi and Izanami, Varun, Invidia, Fenrir, Chang'e, Sitan, and Sin. Neith tried to recite the 20 names in her head while they were seated at Tyr's table. The introductions came to an end a few minutes ago and Gaia led her back to their table where they were already drinking and chatting. All their names were of ancient gods and goddesses from the mythologies of various countries. Neith tried to recite the names again, but she finally coul
Lucifer was trimming his plant inside the locked dojo happily and in peace, oblivious to the upcoming storm that was about to hit him. He heard someone open the door and thought that it was the old master. "Old master? You're back so soon, I thought you missed Neith?" He froze when he didn't hear any response. Something's not right, he thought. "Lucifer! Come out here." A woman shouted from the fighting arena. 'Oh, no. Please, no.' Lucifer prayed in his head. That voice. He started to sweat when he thought about what was about to happen. He couldn't run from this so he slowly made his way to the arena. His nightmare came true; it was Neith. 'That old master. He must have offended her and offered me up for her to vent her anger again.' This has happened multiple times before with him ending up bed-ridden for two days at most. "Yes, Neith?" He asked with an ingratiating smile on his face. Neith scoffed when she saw the almost terrified expression on Lucifer. "Come up here and
"It's you again." He said. The calming sensation his voice gave her caused her discomfort to dissipate. Neith closed her eyes again. "Yes, it's me again." Neith's shy smile came into mind when he heard the tone of her voice. Fūjin almost wanted to go near Neith to look at her, but he didn't. He didn't want to scare her off. Fūjin thought of a cute puppy needing to be coaxed to lure it out of its comfort zone. "How was it?" Fūjin suddenly asked. Neith was caught off-guard, but she still tried to compose herself to give Fūjin a response. Neith thought about what he could be referring to. The first thing that came to mind was her sparring session with Lucifer, but she immediately realized that Fūjin wouldn't know anything about that so he should be referring to the gathering earlier. "It was, uh, okay..." Neith replied almost as if she were asking. She didn't want to offend Fūjin so she didn't want to tell him the truth that she thought the experience was terrible. Neith was too f
At 5 am, the wake up call sounded, but Neith didn't even stir from her sleep. The team's schedule starts at 5am with the wake up call. They are given 15 minutes to prepare themselves before each group consisting of 4 members go to their respective assigned areas to clean. However, this will be the last day where they need to clean as they will be starting their official missions later today. Tyr, Hades, Gaia, and Kali are tasked to clean their seniors' offices. Guanyin, Izanagi and Izanami, and Aion in the dojo. Jupiter, Varun, Invidia, and Chang'e in the weapons facility. Selene, Hel, Sitan, and Sin were given the lecture halls. Lastly, Fūjin, Bellona, Inari, and Fenrir are assigned to the garden. Fenrir was the first one to get to the garden. Between him and his roommate, Fūjin, he had less things to do after waking up. Fūjin had his prayers and his meticulous process of self-care. Fenrir was yawning when he saw a figure sleeping under one of the trees. His yawn was abruptly
Neith. "That's what I'll be known as from now on." Neith muttered while looking up at the majestic building masquerading as a place of worship. Resentment could be seen from her eyes as she was staring at the huge wooden door separating her from the whole other world behind them. 'This whole place and the person on top of it is the reason he's missing.' They would have to drag her cold corpse if they wanter her to ever step foot in this place if they didn't have what she needs. 'Breathe in, breathe out.' She told herself as she tried to keep calm. 'You still have a role to play.' Once she felt that the anger and acrimony has been pushed to the back of her mind, Neith finally took steps towards the door and without much thought, pushed it open. No one bothered to look at her. After all, the people inside were all busy saying their prayers. A good thing, she didn't have to worry much about being noticed. Neith made her way to the second altar from the door. The spot was alwa

"Sir, sir, have you seen her yet?" Tyr turned to look at Hades, his face showing confusion. "Her?" He asked, still puzzled as he looked at Hades' excited countenance. Hades was practically giggling and jumping. "Neith!" The name immediately rang a bell. They've known Neith ever since they started their training in the organization. Well, not really. Neith was introduced to them as their classmate. For some reason, she was the only one in her class. Having a team and being able to work well within it is a big part of their job so the higher-ups inserted her into the new class. They were told that she had already finished her training, but she would join their classes. Well, again, not really. She didn't actually "join" them. She merely observed them through the camera lens of a small device that was like a smartphone but only had that one function of letting her see and hear everything the class did. Their entire class was a bit indignant towards this. They thought it would hav
