Neith.
"That's what I'll be known as from now on."
Neith muttered while looking up at the majestic building masquerading as a place of worship.
Resentment could be seen from her eyes as she was staring at the huge wooden door separating her from the whole other world behind them.
'This whole place and the person on top of it is the reason he's missing.'
They would have to drag her cold corpse if they wanter her to ever step foot in this place if they didn't have what she needs.
'Breathe in, breathe out.' She told herself as she tried to keep calm.
'You still have a role to play.'
Once she felt that the anger and acrimony has been pushed to the back of her mind, Neith finally took steps towards the door and without much thought, pushed it open.
No one bothered to look at her. After all, the people inside were all busy saying their prayers.
A good thing, she didn't have to worry much about being noticed.
Neith made her way to the second altar from the door. The spot was always empty. People disliked that the lights there were always flickering. It was also dirtier compared to the other places for prayer in the church.
It was made that way to make it inconspicuous.
Neith looked around. People are still occupied with their heads lowered to their clasped hands on the back of the chair before them.
Good.
Neith finally slipped into the hidden space at the side that opened to a long tunnel. At the end of it is a huge metal door. At the side of it was a security device where one's handprint can be identified and a camera above.
She pressed her palm on the device.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 seconds. The device finally turned green and the door started to open slowly.
In the control room, Gaia and Hades were watching the footage of the camera in shock. They weren't expecting anyone today. Well, not yet, at least.
They couldn't see the face of the person as she was wearing a cap and a surgical mask.
The two were busy trying to figure out who it was when the alarm for when someone is allowed entrance suddenly sounded.
Gaia and Hades looked at each other in shock before finally getting up from their seats to check out who the person is. It could be a security breach and they'd be in a world of trouble if the organization gets exposed to their enemies while security was under their responsibility.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." Hades muttered repeatedly as they ran to the door.
Gaia looked back at him as she tried to find the weapons she has attached to her hip.
"Calm down and be ready."
As they turned the last corner to the door, Neith had just finished removing her mask and cap. Her hair scattered from the movement and time seemed to slow down for Hades as his eyes met Neith's.
The two of them stopped abruptly and weren't able to utter a word.
'How bizarre.' Neith thought as she stared at their almost bewildered faces. She knew they did not know her so she did not understand their reaction.
Not knowing what to do, Neith just bowed and went on her way leaving the two people there standing awkwardly while still looking at where she stood.
After a few seconds, they finally came back to their senses and Hades was the first to speak.
"Wow."
"Who was that?" Hades asked as he turned his head slowly to face Gaia.
"Fuck." Gaia suddenly said.
"What is it? Do you know her?"
Gaia thought on his question and tried to recall if she's seen the woman somewhere.
"No, I don't and we just let her pass. We should report this to our seniors." Feeling dejected, Gaia started to walk into the complex.
Before she could take another step, Gaia felt a hand around her wrist keeping her from moving.
"No, wait."
She looked behind her and saw Hades with a serious face, contemplating.
After two seconds, he finally looked up to Gaia who was hopefully waiting for him to explain a way out.
"We forgot that the information on who enters using the security device gets pulled up on one of the monitors. We should check there first. Maybe we're not in trouble after all."
Gaia finally perked up a bit.
"Right, right."
They made their way back to the security room and immediately went in front of the several monitors used to surveille the area.
While Gaia was looking for that one monitor, Hades suddenly yelled, "There, it's that one there." While pointing to the monitor on the upper right corner.
They both fixed their gazes on it and were dumbfounded.
"What the fuck? How could this be?"
The monitor showed no data. No clue on who the person was or whether she was part of the organization or not.
"It's a breach. Ït's a breach. She must have hacked our system."
Gaia was about to cry.
"We should tell our seniors and start a search for her." She suggested in an obviously resigned tone.
"I'll call Brahma." Hades stated as he whipped out his device and started looking for the name on the list of his contacts.
Over the call, Hades told the man they call Brahma everything that happened. Brahma just said that he'll be coming down to check on the footage and has asked them to look for her through the cameras.
Gaia and Hades did as they were told and started scanning the monitors to see the figure again. Unfortunately, she never showed up. It seems like she knows all the blind spots and purposefully avoided being caught by the cameras. They were now both in a state of panic and partial amazement. The woman came prepared.
When Brahma finally arrived, he showed them both a look of disappointment.
"Tsk, alright, show me what she looks like."
Hades immediately got up and went to one of the controls to pull up the only footage of the woman they had - the one from the camera near the entrance where she happened to take off her covers.
Once her face showed up on the monitor, Brahma became more relaxed and he looked quite... happy?
Gaia and Hades looked at each other then at Brahma again.
Suddenly, Brahma laughed out loud and held his stomach with his left hand as he tried to retrieve his phone with the other from one of his pockets.
He entered a number and the person on the other line immediately answered the call.
"Call off the search. It's Neith."
When the two other people in the room heard the name, something in their minds immediately clicked.
"Neith?" Hades asked, trying to confirm if he heard it correctly.
"Our classmate, Neith?" Gaia added.
Brahma laughed again before confirming with a nod.
While they were in their state of bewilderment, Brahma suddenly stopped laughing and stared at them seriously.
"Do better in your jobs next time. You suspected a person to be an intruder and didn't even take her in for questioning. What's worse is you let her run around for a while before calling a senior."
Gaia and Hades just lowered their heads. They know it's no excuse, but the past month has been so uneventful for them that their guards gradually went down.
"Get out of here. I'll have someone replace you two." Brahma ordered.
They didn't argue anymore and just exited the room.
Gaia expected that Hades would be down just like she is, but the fool was smiling from ear to ear.
"What's up with you?" She asked with one of her eyebrows raised.
Hades felt giddy as he remembered Neith's face and the fact that they'll be working together.
"I have to find Tyr."
"Sir, sir, have you seen her yet?" Tyr turned to look at Hades, his face showing confusion. "Her?" He asked, still puzzled as he looked at Hades' excited countenance. Hades was practically giggling and jumping. "Neith!" The name immediately rang a bell. They've known Neith ever since they started their training in the organization. Well, not really. Neith was introduced to them as their classmate. For some reason, she was the only one in her class. Having a team and being able to work well within it is a big part of their job so the higher-ups inserted her into the new class. They were told that she had already finished her training, but she would join their classes. Well, again, not really. She didn't actually "join" them. She merely observed them through the camera lens of a small device that was like a smartphone but only had that one function of letting her see and hear everything the class did. Their entire class was a bit indignant towards this. They thought it would hav
On the underground floor of the building... In the cold and organized office, the contrast created by the childish handmade artworks and trinkets was quite jarring to Neith’s eyes. She tried her hardest to look away from the crafts that she had made in the past and gave to her father as gifts. Instead, she looked straight at the wall behind the man seated on the black office chair. The man was talking but Neith was too focused on trying to keep her emotions at bay. The first thing she heard was a question asked out of exasperation. “Why did you escape from your security detail?” Still looking straight ahead, Neith answered straightforwardly, "I didn't want to come in such a grand way. I already agreed to the welcome ceremony. I don't need more evidence of your biased treatment that others can use against me." 'Fine.' Elāhā said in his head. There was no point to this. She's safe anyway. He sighed, feeling exhausted already just from this small interaction. Ever since that incid
It was just a series of speeches from different seniors at the beginning. Hades was seated with Tyr, Gaia, Kali, Jupiter, and Guanyin. These six were ranked higher than the rest of their class in training earning them lead positions in the team. Hades was looking around, turning his head in every direction. Jupiter started to feel dizzy just looking at his movements. "Hey, Hades, will you please stop moving so much? You're about to give me motion sickness." Jupiter said, his face with traces of annoyance. Kali also noticed Hades' bizarre actions. She was thankful for Jupiter reprimanding him. She didn't care what caused it, she just wanted him to stop. Hades stopped and pouted in disappointment. He didn't get to see her anywhere. Unlike the others, Gaia was amused. She smiled mischievously and said, "Don't worry, I saw her coming here earlier. She's probably around just hiding." "I didn't say I was looking for her. Shut up." Hades immediately retorted. Kali was with him on the
After Neith left the stage, Jupiter was the first one to break the silence in their table. "Wow." It was all he said. The woman was simply breathtaking. Their uniform did nothing to hide her amazing figure. They could still notice the well-proportioned body of the woman on stage. Her neck was slender. Her small face, fair-almost porcelain-like skin, those light brown eyes that looked like they shine, her full lips, and her button nose. His eyes followed her from the stage to the tables of the seniors where she greeted them. It was a very harmonious scene. It seemed as though they were very familiar with each other. Once Neith and Gaia were gone, Bellona turned to Fūjin. "Did you notice she kept looking at you?" Bellona asked with one of her eyebrows raised. Fūjin showed a look of surprise. Not because Neith kept looking at him, but because Bellona also saw it. Seeing his response from his face, Bellona concluded that he didn't. She smirked before saying, "I think she has a crush on you." Fūjin cast an expressionless face as he turned to Bellona. "Don't speak nonsense." Tyr, Hades, Gaia, Guanyin, Jupiter, Kali, Fūjin, Bellona, Aion, Hel, Selene, Inari, Izanagi and Izanami, Varun, Invidia, Fenrir, Chang'e, Sitan, and Sin. Neith tried to recite the 20 names in her head while they were seated at Tyr's table. The introductions came to an end a few minutes ago and Gaia led her back to their table where they were already drinking and chatting. All their names were of ancient gods and goddesses from the mythologies of various countries. Neith tried to recite the names again, but she finally coul
Lucifer was trimming his plant inside the locked dojo happily and in peace, oblivious to the upcoming storm that was about to hit him. He heard someone open the door and thought that it was the old master. "Old master? You're back so soon, I thought you missed Neith?" He froze when he didn't hear any response. Something's not right, he thought. "Lucifer! Come out here." A woman shouted from the fighting arena. 'Oh, no. Please, no.' Lucifer prayed in his head. That voice. He started to sweat when he thought about what was about to happen. He couldn't run from this so he slowly made his way to the arena. His nightmare came true; it was Neith. 'That old master. He must have offended her and offered me up for her to vent her anger again.' This has happened multiple times before with him ending up bed-ridden for two days at most. "Yes, Neith?" He asked with an ingratiating smile on his face. Neith scoffed when she saw the almost terrified expression on Lucifer. "Come up here and
"It's you again." He said. The calming sensation his voice gave her caused her discomfort to dissipate. Neith closed her eyes again. "Yes, it's me again." Neith's shy smile came into mind when he heard the tone of her voice. Fūjin almost wanted to go near Neith to look at her, but he didn't. He didn't want to scare her off. Fūjin thought of a cute puppy needing to be coaxed to lure it out of its comfort zone. "How was it?" Fūjin suddenly asked. Neith was caught off-guard, but she still tried to compose herself to give Fūjin a response. Neith thought about what he could be referring to. The first thing that came to mind was her sparring session with Lucifer, but she immediately realized that Fūjin wouldn't know anything about that so he should be referring to the gathering earlier. "It was, uh, okay..." Neith replied almost as if she were asking. She didn't want to offend Fūjin so she didn't want to tell him the truth that she thought the experience was terrible. Neith was too f
At 5 am, the wake up call sounded, but Neith didn't even stir from her sleep. The team's schedule starts at 5am with the wake up call. They are given 15 minutes to prepare themselves before each group consisting of 4 members go to their respective assigned areas to clean. However, this will be the last day where they need to clean as they will be starting their official missions later today. Tyr, Hades, Gaia, and Kali are tasked to clean their seniors' offices. Guanyin, Izanagi and Izanami, and Aion in the dojo. Jupiter, Varun, Invidia, and Chang'e in the weapons facility. Selene, Hel, Sitan, and Sin were given the lecture halls. Lastly, Fūjin, Bellona, Inari, and Fenrir are assigned to the garden. Fenrir was the first one to get to the garden. Between him and his roommate, Fūjin, he had less things to do after waking up. Fūjin had his prayers and his meticulous process of self-care. Fenrir was yawning when he saw a figure sleeping under one of the trees. His yawn was abruptly
