Chapter 8

“It's brand new, I never even once used that, Sir.” I said to my new neighbor who just moved here.

“I can see that,” he was looking at the microwave and oven that he bought from me. He was scanning every part of it with a glimpse of joy in his eyes.

Well, he hit the jackpot and I hit it, too.

“Thanks, then. I'll tell my friends about the other appliances that you're selling,” he gladly said with a huge smile as he carried the appliances inside his apartment.

“I'll appreciate that. Thank you!” I watched him close the door before I drew a huge smile on my lips as I began to count the money I earned.

“You look happy,”

“Fvck!”

My heart almost jumped out of my chest. I had to shut my eyes firmly when I saw him standing beside me. I didn't even notice him there for god's sake!

It's Sean Cohen again, wearing his normal look: a black suit. If yesterday he looks like a hot bad boy, right now, Sean looks like a hot billionaire. Well, he is a hot billionaire, indeed.

“Why are you here? Goodness, you'll kill me!” I exclaimed. My hand traveled immediately on my chest so I could feel my heartbeat— and bloody hell, my heart is pounding.

“I didn't know you could curse,” he chuckled, enjoying the show.

I simply glared at him before I hid the money in my wallet.

“Why are you here? I'm about to go to the company,” I uttered, calmer than earlier.

It's such a shame that he saw how delighted I am with money. He might think that I love money so much that my eyes are sparkling when I'm holding it.

Well, I do love money. Who does not love money anyway?

“I'm about to go there, too. Shall we go?”

My brows met as I tilted my head. Why would he go here if he's about to go to the company? The way there and here are totally different.

“Are you here to pick me up again?” I glanced at him with suspicion through my eyes.

“Didn't say that,” he uttered and began to walk.

I followed him downstairs but didn't let go of him through my eyes.

“People might think that I am your boss and you are my secretary,” I commented when he opened the door for me again and again. I'm getting comfortable with him day by day.

He paused and glanced at me with that tiny smirk. Every time he's pinning me with his eyes, I don't know why I feel like melting like ice. That moment, my knees became feeble to even stand, so I quickly went inside the car.

“You know what, I think I do love hearing you curse.” He uttered, which made my brows meet again, while he was still beside me with the door still opened.

“H-Huh?”

“It's sexy,”

I swear, that smirk became a broad smile before he closed the door and went inside the car as well. I was left with no words, as if there was a lump in my throat that I couldn't talk. My entire body froze and I couldn't move a bit. There's no wonder that my cheeks are probably burning right now.

Did he just say that I cursed sexily? I bit my lower lip, trying to absorb it. My d*mn heart was pounding. Is he seducing me? Because it's fvcking working on me.

Oh, Sean Cohen. What kind of boss are you? You make me forget about the boundaries that a mere secretary and a CEO must have.

All the way, we were filled with silence. I prefer that though. I don't think I could speak if he starts a conversation after what he just said. He's driving me crazy and I don't feel safe with that.

“Can I go out there?” I mustered all my remaining strength to ask him that.

I felt his eyes turn at me for a few seconds before he also came back eyeing the road.

“To the café?” He asked. His brows crossed, I knew that he was a bit confused.

“Why? Haven't you eaten yet? We can grab some pastries, too.” He suggested with so much concern. His benevolence is killing me.

“No, it's not like that.” I looked away from him and my face crumpled in secrecy for a moment. Why is it so hard to lie to this man?

He heaved a sigh, which ended and ruined my plan.

“Tell me, why do you want to get out here?” I bit my lower lip when he really stopped the car in front of the café.

Well, I don't want the people in his company to see us arriving together. I'm a newbie, and I don't want to make another issue that would make them think about something that is not even true. I can't even make friends with them, and yet another bad issue about me would lurk around? Heck, no.

His eyes that stayed at me cornered me up.

I sighed heavily. “They might think that we're going out or I am trying to seduce you if they saw us arriving together.” I mentioned, while feeling uneasy about that.

His face remained blank along with those eyes of his.

“You can go here, then.” He then moved his eyes away.

I should be glad that he allowed me, but how can I? He said that coldly, which bothers me.

I bit my lower lip, hesitating. Is he upset? But then, it's for my own good, so I still went out of the car. I stood in front of the cafe, right beside the driver's seat of the car. I was waiting for him to leave already, not until the window slowly opened and I saw Sean again.

“But you're not seducing me,” he uttered and pouted like a cute kid. He even gave me those puppy eyes of his.

Is he crazy? I couldn't help but to chuckle.

“What are you doing?” I asked, while trying not to laugh.

He simply heaved a sigh and shook his head.

“I'm seducing you though,” he winked at me before he left.

The smile on my face faded in one snap. My eyes were stuck at his car that was already far from me. He left me with my jaw dropped and with my heart racing again.

He's seducing me?

I shook my head. “It can't be,” I mumbled, absorbing everything.

Fvck. He's driving me crazy. Sean is enjoying this. He enjoys playing with me!

As I walked to the café near the company, I was still not into myself. My mind was flying, thinking about what Sean said. I was grateful when I came inside the office and he was busy on the phone again, talking with someone. I breathed heavily and even pinched myself.

“Pull yourself together, Dahlia.” I murmured before I started doing the drill every morning.

“Can you believe it? They went out together yesterday. That's why they are not here,” it refrained me from moving, the moment I heard my colleagues in the café section talking about that.

Are they talking about me and Sean? Do they know that we hung out yesterday?

“Tsk. Does she think she can replace Mr. Cohen's ex fiancé? Hell, no.” I crumpled my hands while making coffee for Sean.

The beast who is sleeping inside me is about to wake up.

“What a slut,” I heard them comment aloud. They intentionally said that so I could hear it well. I'm not dumb not to know.

I closed my eyes firmly, holding myself back. I don't know what I can do if I fight them back. I would probably lose my new job and be in poverty again.

I heard their footsteps going out, which calmed the fire inside me. I'll let it slide this time, I'll let it slide.

“Calm down, Dahlia.” I mumbled and blew out a short air.

Most of the time, choosing to ignore things is better than talking about it. They don't put food on my plate for me to be affected. Besides, I didn't do anything with my boss—we just rode multiple rides! What kind of mind do they have? I can't believe they are all satiated with toxicity and immaturity.

“Yeah, of course. I will book a flight today,” I found Sean still on the phone. His eyes captured me when I entered the office and I witnessed how he was forced to agree with something on the phone.

I ignored that and served the coffee on his table before I quickly headed back to my desk to continue arranging all his schedules.

“Dahlia,” I quickly glanced at him when he called my name after the phone call he had.

His eyes were already exhausted and frustrated. I can feel the heaviness on his shoulders.

“I think I will be gone for the entire week, next week.” He mentioned and heaved a sigh.

“I see. Should I book the flight?” I asked.

Why does he seem like he doesn't want to go but he has to? What's stopping him?

“Yeah, I'll be going to London for a very short business trip,” he heaved another sigh while I began to book a flight on the desktop.

“You're okay with it?” I paused and shifted my eyes back at him. My brows crossed again.

“Yeah?” I don't really understand him sometimes. He just asked me as if my opinion matters.

“I mean, I'll still do my job here.” I uttered and gave him a small smile.

But then, Sean chuckled unbelievably.

“Maybe you should come with me,” he pinned his hands on his desk while cornering me again with those manipulative eyes of his.

Is he crazy?

“Huh?”

Is he serious? He's bringing me with him? But then, to spend the entire week with him would probably be a huge gossip again in this company.

“I think I'll be fine alone here. Besides, I'm sure that you are the one that is needed there and not me. We can communicate online, too.”

“Yeah…that's right, I'll go alone, then.” He heaved another sigh and I watched him leave the office.

What was that?
