Chapter 9
Third Person's POV “I'm leaving tomorrow for London,” Sean mentioned while he was drinking with Ford in the bar. That bar is for billionaire people like them. Unlike the others, it's quite peaceful there. “So? I don't care,” Ford replied and even rolled his eyes while busy typing on his phone. But then, when Sean didn't say anything, it made him pause. His eyes slowly shifted at him, and there he was, staring at the alcohol in front of him with his head traveling somewhere else. That was when Ford got intrigued. It's been a long time since he saw Sean being like this. “What's the matter, Cohen? Let me guess, it's a woman, right?” His brows raised before a tiny smirk appeared on his lips. He was right. Sean only shut his eyes firmly and drank the alcohol in his glass. He clenched his jaw while still bothered. “Is it your new secretary?” He asked again with a sigh. “I don't want to leave her here. I asked her to come but she declined,” Dahlia is totally different from Celeste. She's not fragile like her, and maybe that is because she grew up being independent all along. “It's just that… I'm scared to leave her and something will happen aga—” “She's not Celeste,” Ford said that firmly, ending Sean's delusions over Dahlia and Celeste. In one snap, he was able to capture his eyes. “What happened to Celeste will not happen to her because they are a different person, Sean.” He chuckled unbelievably and drank the alcohol. He can't believe that Sean is still doing this. Ford knows that Sean doesn't have any plan to stop all of this mess. “You are not scared to leave because something might happen to her… You are only scared because you see her as Celeste and not as herself,” that hits the spot. Ford indeed slapped him again with the reality. He has to sharpen his words in order for him to wake up. “Stop. I don't want to hear it,” Sean said and avoided his eyes. “Wake up, Sean. If you love Dahlia, then love her because she is Dahlia and not because she looks like Celeste.” Sean smirked as he glanced back at Ford. “Really? Coming from someone who keeps playing with women?” They were both exchanging sharp gazes towards each other. Those words won't even hurt him a bit. “I would rather play with them than drag an innocent woman to hell and ruin her life. You only care about yourself, Sean.” He left him with a smirk before he marched out of there, leaving Sean alone. Dahlia’s POV “So, how's your boss?” My brows met immediately when Charlotte gave me those playful eyes of hers. We are here in the café near the company, having our breakfast. Guess what? It's Charlotte’s treat again. Well, I'm not yet holding my 100 thousand salary to treat her. “What's with that look?” I asked and chuckled as I shook my head. “Well,” she paused and began to scan me with those suspicious eyes. “What?” My brows raised with confusion. I know how her intestine runs. She's probably thinking that something is going on between me and Sean. “I saw some pictures of yours from the amusement park,” my brows met again. This time, I was stunned. My head began to travel back from the day we went there. I do not remember taking pictures with Sean that day. “Sean and I didn't take any pictures,” I uttered as I tilted my head, thinking if I just forgotten about it. “See? You went there with your boss?!” Her eyes almost bawled out the moment she heard that. My lips parted when I realized that I just revealed it to her. “Well, we did.” I admitted and shrugged. “But where did you saw the pictures? I don't remember taking one,” I added. “He posted it,” I almost choked while drinking my coffee. “Hey, are you okay?” Charlotte quickly went beside me, holding water. “I-I'm fine,” I replied. I had to slam my chest lightly to absorb what Charlotte said. “Sean posted it?” I was completely in awe. “Yeah. I did some research about him, you know, I stalked him on social media and I saw a photo of you. Look,” I quickly stole her phone to check what she was talking about; there was me, smiling from ear to ear while watching something. My lips just parted. Now, everything's clear to me. That is the reason why my colleagues found out how we hangout together. I needed a few seconds to process everything in my head. Sean posted me on his social media. Knowing that he's a popular and powerful man, many people probably saw that. “So, what's the score between the two of you?” She was back at it again. Charlotte gave back that playful stare at me along with her bright smile. I don't know what to say and I don't know how to react. I remained blank while with Charlotte. Why would he post a photo of me and how can't I know about it? “There's nothing going on, Charlotte.” I answered with honesty as I heaved a sigh. Her face crumpled in disappointment before she pouted. It seems like she's expecting a different answer. “We just hangout that day. He asked me to join him,” I added. “Really? A boss would ask his new secretary to go with him to an amusement park? I didn't know that you're dense,” she rolled her eyes at me. “Charlotte, Sean is benevolent. He's naturally like that,” I reasoned out. Well, that's what I can see in my point of view. I should not think that he was trying to imply something when his intention is clear. “Benevolent my ass,” she chuckled. “He even allowed you to call him by his name and he's just like that? Oh, come on, Dahlia.” She shook her head at me, couldn't believe that I'm not getting her point. Well, I do not get what she's trying to imply. “We're comfortable with each other,” I replied. Charlotte breathed heavily. “Tell me, did he say something that made you confused? You know, as if he's flirting with you?” She was pinning me with her gazes, not letting me escape those. “Well,” I paused. I bit my lower lip when I remembered how he did it for a few times. “See?” Charlotte chuckled, which speaks her satisfaction as it seems like she was right about it. “I don't get it. What are trying to say?” Confusion was painted all over my face. “I can't believe that you're my friend,” she shook her head and now eyed me directly. “He's hitting on you, Dahlia. Sean Cohen might be on you,” That was our last conversation. After meeting Charlotte for a short time, I headed straight to the office and ignored the eyes that my colleagues are throwing to me. I was sitting on my desk while watching Sean’s empty seat. Today is his flight to London so I am all alone here. I guess, I'll be alone for the entire week. “No, it can't be. He's in love with Celeste,” I told myself. I'm sure about it because I witnessed it from his eyes. His eyes still shouts her name, and that is probably the same for his heart. My phone rang, and it was my alarm. It's lunch time. Time passed by that fast? I shut my eyes firmly before I decided to go out to buy some food. I don't mind being alone. At least, I'm earning a hundred thousand, right? “Dahlia Savedra,” I froze the moment I heard someone called me. That voice was familiar. My brows crossed for a moment before I looked back. My shoulders fell as soon as I saw him. I was already near to go out of the building so I can buy my food outside and yet this man has to see me? What a lucky day. “Sir Ford,” I even bowed my head a bit to him. “Oh, don't do that. Just call me Ford, Sean might get mad if he sees you bowing in front of me.” Even though Charlotte called me dense, well, I am not stupid not to know that he was being sarcastic when he said that to me. However, I kept my small smile towards him. “So, you hangout with Sean?” I knew that he would bring that up. There's something about this man that his presence can easily annoyed me. I don't care if he's handsome. I hate him. “I did,” I replied. He simply nodded, keeping that small smirk on his lips before he walked towards me. I remained eyeing him, refusing to step back by those sly stare of his. He is a dangerous book. I knew from the first time we met that he cannot be easily read. Beyond those amusing eyes hides a thousand of secrets that runs through his mind. “You're probably thinking that I am the villain in your little love story with Sean,” he said firmly. “But I know Sean very well, Dahlia.” He even emphasized ‘very well’, gluing it on me. “He doesn't like you, he only sees Celeste to you. Don't buy it, if you want to have a peaceful life.” He finally stepped back from me, but he didn't take away that sly smirk. “I'm here to get some papers on his desk. See you around,” he said and even waved his hand at me before he turned his back, leaving me speechless there. I crumpled my hands. Why does his words were too sharp that it makes my chest bleeds? I shook my head before I decided to finally go out. I was taking a big steps as I walked on the side of the road. I really hate that man. “Mom, my toy!” I was captured by the little boy who accidentally dropped his yoyo on the road. It is already in the middle of the road where there are tons of fast cars going around. I was about to ignore it not until I foresee what the kid was about to do. “Hey!” My eyes widened when he did what I anticipated. For a moment, I felt like I lost my mind. I found my self chasing the little boy, trying to save him. “The kid!” I heard the people shouting. I quickly grabbed the boy and pushed him out of the road. Then there was I, facing the car that was about to hit me. I was stunned that I couldn't even move. A loud beep filled my ears and everything went black. itsclarixassChapter 10 Third Person's POV “It's the new secretary of Mr. Cohen,” “I heard she saved the little boy,” Ford was on his way out of the company when his eyes were captured by multiple people outside the company. There was a commotion in front of the building, which made his brows cross. “What’s going on?” He mumbled. “What's her name again? Dahlia?” Ford was about to ignore whatever was happening, until he heard Dahlia’s name was mentioned by the people who were sticking their noses. “Excuse me,” he said and had to even push the other people in order for him to see what the hell was happening. His lips quickly parted as soon as his eyes landed on the woman on the road, covered with blood in front of the car. It's Dahlia. There was a woman beside her along with the little boy, holding a yoyo while crying. His world suddenly stopped. He was just talking to her earlier, and now, this happened. For a moment, it feels like a deja vu. He was losing his right mind
Chapter 11 My heart is racing. Did the world just stopped? Because the moment he locked me in his arms, I felt like our worlds paused for a moment. The warmth of being in his arms seems to vanish the aching of my entire body. It's like a magic that heals every wound I got from the accident. “I'm so scared, Dahlia… I was so fvcking scared that it might happen again.” My brows met while I was in front of his broad chest. I was not moving. I can smell his scent, now that are bodies are glued to each other. “I thought I will lose you again,” that moment, I was able to get the message. I quickly pulled him gently and even avoided those eyes. Suddenly, I remembered what Ford kept telling me. ‘Again’. He was not pertaining to me, he was pertaining to Celeste that he once lost. I don't really get why Sean sees me as Celeste, or even all the people around us. I am so befuddled about everything. The racing of my heart was replaced with a harsh squeezed after realizing that. I force
Chapter 12 Days after, I got discharged from the hospital. However, I cannot say that I am completely fine because of my left leg. Well, I could walk easily unlike before where I feel an excruciating pain each step that I make. There is only a tiny bandage on my left foot. “Not just his secretary. Is it not clear to you, Dahlia? He's telling you his intentions,” she kept rolling her sharp eyes at me and I can see how frustration was painted all over her face. I blew out a heavy air. “You don't understand, Charlotte.” “What do you mean that I don't understand?” Here she goes again, cornering me with those eyes of hers. I knew that she won't let me escape, unless I give her an answer. I bit my lower lip and chose to bring my eyes on the road outside. We are here again at the café near the company. I intentionally decided not to come early there in order to avoid Sean for the meantime. I'm not even sure why I am avoiding him. “Come on, tell me. I'm your best friend, Dahli
Chapter 13 I didn't regret asking Sean about Celeste. When he told me the entire story of what happened to her, I supposed, I was able to observe him keenly. I was right all along. The truth slapped me in one snap. There is no doubt that Sean Cohen is still madly in love with Celeste. “So, do you plan to avoid him?” Charlotte asked while we were at the mall. Today is my day off. I also asked Sean that I will take a day off as I want to clear my head from everything. I was hesitant at first, because I was not present for two executive days and then I asked to take a day off. But then, Sean allowed me. “I decided not to. Do you think I should avoid him?” I landed my eyes at her. “No. There's no need,” she replied. I simply nodded. My decision is to stay friends with him aside from being his secretary. Me and Sean bonded a few times and I will not deny that I enjoyed it a lot. I just realized that he's just naturally like that. Just like Charlotte, he's benevolent. “An
Chapter 14The next day, I made sure that I would not be late for work. I have to be productive, at least. At some point, Ford was able to clear my head slightly. Sean only sees Celeste to me, that's all. Perhaps, that's the reason why he sometimes acts like he has a deep intention when he doesn't. Now, I think he's just confused and being carried away. Still, I don't get it. Do I look like Celeste? It's not like I don't find myself beautiful; I am beautiful. It's just that, from Ford's description, Celeste is a perfect woman from inside and out. The reason why I don't understand how Sean sees her to me when Celeste and I are totally different. I mean, in what aspect does he see Celeste to me, right? “Dahlia,” I glanced at one of my neighbors who coincidentally saw me while I was locking my apartment. My face almost crumpled. Why do I have to meet any of them now? “Hey, how's pregnancy?” I faked a huge smile. Her name's Fiona, and I know her well. If the landlady is the source of
Chapter 15 “Careful, it's hot!” I exclaimed to the kids while we were giving them food. Some of Sean's people are giving the food while I was the one giving them a hot choco and a milk. It depends on what they want to drink. “Thank you!” The young boy uttered and drew his broad smile at me. “You're welcome,” I replied and even patted his head. I couldn't erase the smile on my face while watching them. They were all enjoying the food and drinks and it made my heart delighted. “Hi! I want milk,” the young girl said with a soft smile. “Milk? Okay, hold on.” I replied before I quickly poured milk in the cup and handed it to her. “Are you enjoying the food?” I asked. “Yes, it's delicious.” She replied cutely. “That's great. Go on, eat and drink your milk.” I uttered and watched her go with the other kids who were enjoying their food. I didn't know that I would be here again, witnessing the orphan children like me. “You're sweating,” I was disturbed when Sean went
Chapter 16 I was staring at the empty desk and seat of Sean. I’ve been here for an hour and I already started my job, but Sean is not here yet. What his former secretary said is playing in my head along with what Ford and Charlotte kept telling me since before. Charlotte was indeed right. Sean doesn’t do the same thing to my colleagues, not even to his former secretary. He doesn’t pick them up and he doesn’t drive them home. He doesn’t hang out with them and bring them to amusement parks or to the orphanage. He doesn’t allow them to call him just by his name. He doesn’t double their salaries, and most importantly, Sean won’t skip his significant flight for his mere employee. I shut my eyes firmly. Sean Cohen did all of that to me—only to me. I chuckled as I tilted my head. You don’t have to say it. I know that it looks like I’m going mad. But then, perhaps I got it wrong. I’m not the only one who experienced all of this from Sean. Someone experienced all the real and genuine love of
Chapter 17“Excuse me,” Sean’s driver glanced at me from the rear mirror. I witnessed how pale I looked from there.Damn, you wanted this, Dahlia. Bear with it now. “Can you lower or turn off the aircon?” I smiled awkwardly.Fuck it. I’m freezing to hell! It’s flooding inside because Sean and I were soaked from the rain. Our entire bodies including our clothes and hairs were dripping in the back seat. He immediately turned it off after I requested it. I can’t pretend that I’m fine anymore when I was already freezing to death.“Are you cold?” Sean asked worriedly as he glanced at me beside him.“I’m freezing,” I replied and embraced myself. I even crushed my palms together to feel a light warm from it. “Sorry. I should have not involved you,” he uttered and felt bad. I paused for a moment. I didn’t know if it was right to blame him. Because I know to myself that it was me who wanted to accompany him as well. If he will go to a dangerous place, I would not be surprised if I will find
