Chapter 9

Third Person's POV

“I'm leaving tomorrow for London,” Sean mentioned while he was drinking with Ford in the bar. That bar is for billionaire people like them. Unlike the others, it's quite peaceful there.

“So? I don't care,” Ford replied and even rolled his eyes while busy typing on his phone. But then, when Sean didn't say anything, it made him pause.

His eyes slowly shifted at him, and there he was, staring at the alcohol in front of him with his head traveling somewhere else. That was when Ford got intrigued. It's been a long time since he saw Sean being like this.

“What's the matter, Cohen? Let me guess, it's a woman, right?” His brows raised before a tiny smirk appeared on his lips.

He was right. Sean only shut his eyes firmly and drank the alcohol in his glass. He clenched his jaw while still bothered.

“Is it your new secretary?” He asked again with a sigh.

“I don't want to leave her here. I asked her to come but she declined,” Dahlia is totally different from Celeste. She's not fragile like her, and maybe that is because she grew up being independent all along.

“It's just that… I'm scared to leave her and something will happen aga—”

“She's not Celeste,” Ford said that firmly, ending Sean's delusions over Dahlia and Celeste.

In one snap, he was able to capture his eyes.

“What happened to Celeste will not happen to her because they are a different person, Sean.” He chuckled unbelievably and drank the alcohol.

He can't believe that Sean is still doing this. Ford knows that Sean doesn't have any plan to stop all of this mess.

“You are not scared to leave because something might happen to her… You are only scared because you see her as Celeste and not as herself,” that hits the spot. Ford indeed slapped him again with the reality. He has to sharpen his words in order for him to wake up.

“Stop. I don't want to hear it,” Sean said and avoided his eyes.

“Wake up, Sean. If you love Dahlia, then love her because she is Dahlia and not because she looks like Celeste.”

Sean smirked as he glanced back at Ford. “Really? Coming from someone who keeps playing with women?”

They were both exchanging sharp gazes towards each other. Those words won't even hurt him a bit.

“I would rather play with them than drag an innocent woman to hell and ruin her life. You only care about yourself, Sean.” He left him with a smirk before he marched out of there, leaving Sean alone.

Dahlia’s POV

“So, how's your boss?”

My brows met immediately when Charlotte gave me those playful eyes of hers. We are here in the café near the company, having our breakfast. Guess what? It's Charlotte’s treat again. Well, I'm not yet holding my 100 thousand salary to treat her.

“What's with that look?” I asked and chuckled as I shook my head.

“Well,” she paused and began to scan me with those suspicious eyes.

“What?” My brows raised with confusion. I know how her intestine runs. She's probably thinking that something is going on between me and Sean.

“I saw some pictures of yours from the amusement park,” my brows met again. This time, I was stunned. My head began to travel back from the day we went there. I do not remember taking pictures with Sean that day.

“Sean and I didn't take any pictures,” I uttered as I tilted my head, thinking if I just forgotten about it.

“See? You went there with your boss?!” Her eyes almost bawled out the moment she heard that. My lips parted when I realized that I just revealed it to her.

“Well, we did.” I admitted and shrugged. “But where did you saw the pictures? I don't remember taking one,” I added.

“He posted it,”

I almost choked while drinking my coffee.

“Hey, are you okay?” Charlotte quickly went beside me, holding water.

“I-I'm fine,” I replied. I had to slam my chest lightly to absorb what Charlotte said.

“Sean posted it?” I was completely in awe.

“Yeah. I did some research about him, you know, I stalked him on social media and I saw a photo of you. Look,” I quickly stole her phone to check what she was talking about; there was me, smiling from ear to ear while watching something.

My lips just parted. Now, everything's clear to me. That is the reason why my colleagues found out how we hangout together. I needed a few seconds to process everything in my head. Sean posted me on his social media. Knowing that he's a popular and powerful man, many people probably saw that.

“So, what's the score between the two of you?” She was back at it again. Charlotte gave back that playful stare at me along with her bright smile.

I don't know what to say and I don't know how to react. I remained blank while with Charlotte. Why would he post a photo of me and how can't I know about it?

“There's nothing going on, Charlotte.” I answered with honesty as I heaved a sigh.

Her face crumpled in disappointment before she pouted. It seems like she's expecting a different answer.

“We just hangout that day. He asked me to join him,” I added.

“Really? A boss would ask his new secretary to go with him to an amusement park? I didn't know that you're dense,” she rolled her eyes at me.

“Charlotte, Sean is benevolent. He's naturally like that,” I reasoned out. Well, that's what I can see in my point of view. I should not think that he was trying to imply something when his intention is clear.

“Benevolent my ass,” she chuckled. “He even allowed you to call him by his name and he's just like that? Oh, come on, Dahlia.” She shook her head at me, couldn't believe that I'm not getting her point. Well, I do not get what she's trying to imply.

“We're comfortable with each other,” I replied.

Charlotte breathed heavily. “Tell me, did he say something that made you confused? You know, as if he's flirting with you?” She was pinning me with her gazes, not letting me escape those.

“Well,” I paused.

I bit my lower lip when I remembered how he did it for a few times.

“See?” Charlotte chuckled, which speaks her satisfaction as it seems like she was right about it.

“I don't get it. What are trying to say?” Confusion was painted all over my face.

“I can't believe that you're my friend,” she shook her head and now eyed me directly.

“He's hitting on you, Dahlia. Sean Cohen might be on you,”

That was our last conversation. After meeting Charlotte for a short time, I headed straight to the office and ignored the eyes that my colleagues are throwing to me. I was sitting on my desk while watching Sean’s empty seat. Today is his flight to London so I am all alone here. I guess, I'll be alone for the entire week.

“No, it can't be. He's in love with Celeste,” I told myself. I'm sure about it because I witnessed it from his eyes. His eyes still shouts her name, and that is probably the same for his heart.

My phone rang, and it was my alarm. It's lunch time. Time passed by that fast? I shut my eyes firmly before I decided to go out to buy some food. I don't mind being alone. At least, I'm earning a hundred thousand, right?

“Dahlia Savedra,” I froze the moment I heard someone called me. That voice was familiar. My brows crossed for a moment before I looked back.

My shoulders fell as soon as I saw him. I was already near to go out of the building so I can buy my food outside and yet this man has to see me? What a lucky day.

“Sir Ford,” I even bowed my head a bit to him.

“Oh, don't do that. Just call me Ford, Sean might get mad if he sees you bowing in front of me.” Even though Charlotte called me dense, well, I am not stupid not to know that he was being sarcastic when he said that to me.

However, I kept my small smile towards him.

“So, you hangout with Sean?” I knew that he would bring that up. There's something about this man that his presence can easily annoyed me. I don't care if he's handsome.

I hate him.

“I did,” I replied.

He simply nodded, keeping that small smirk on his lips before he walked towards me. I remained eyeing him, refusing to step back by those sly stare of his. He is a dangerous book. I knew from the first time we met that he cannot be easily read. Beyond those amusing eyes hides a thousand of secrets that runs through his mind.

“You're probably thinking that I am the villain in your little love story with Sean,” he said firmly.

“But I know Sean very well, Dahlia.” He even emphasized ‘very well’, gluing it on me.

“He doesn't like you, he only sees Celeste to you. Don't buy it, if you want to have a peaceful life.”

He finally stepped back from me, but he didn't take away that sly smirk.

“I'm here to get some papers on his desk. See you around,” he said and even waved his hand at me before he turned his back, leaving me speechless there.

I crumpled my hands. Why does his words were too sharp that it makes my chest bleeds? I shook my head before I decided to finally go out.

I was taking a big steps as I walked on the side of the road. I really hate that man.

“Mom, my toy!”

I was captured by the little boy who accidentally dropped his yoyo on the road. It is already in the middle of the road where there are tons of fast cars going around. I was about to ignore it not until I foresee what the kid was about to do.

“Hey!” My eyes widened when he did what I anticipated.

For a moment, I felt like I lost my mind. I found my self chasing the little boy, trying to save him.

“The kid!”

I heard the people shouting. I quickly grabbed the boy and pushed him out of the road.

Then there was I, facing the car that was about to hit me. I was stunned that I couldn't even move.

A loud beep filled my ears and everything went black.
