Chapter 5

I quickly stood away from him and pulled back my hand after I realized everything. My hands were cold and my d*mn heart was pounding. I had to hide my face for a while as I turned my back a little.

“It seems like you were dreaming so I was trying to wake you up,” I gave him a glance, but I chose not to stare at him for too long this time.

Why does he keep calling me Celeste? Why is he always acting like this?

“I'm sorry,” he uttered. “I had a bad dream,” I heard him heave a sigh.

He probably dreamed of his ex fiancé, but why would he call it a bad dream? Did he dream of how she died? Slowly, I could not help but to get curious about what really happened.

“That's fine. I-I uh…” I paused and clenched my hand. I could not even construct a sentence.

“I bought a sandwich and an iced coffee,” I said and showed him the food on his desk.

Sean seems uneasy. The frustration and the sorrows he has from the dark past were all painted on his face right now. I have no idea about what happened to him and to his ex fiancé, but I could tell that it was a shattering tragedy. I can imagine how he already saw himself spending his entire life with Celeste and then she suddenly died.

“I'll go back to work,” we were filled with awkwardness and I was trying to break it by acting normally.

I went back to my desk, but I can still see him in front of me. Why do I have to be here? How can I even avoid watching him now? I know that I should not be worried, but I am. I am worried that Mr. Cohen is not doing well.

Suddenly, I remembered what his former secretary told us when we were applying the other day. That day wasn't good for him because it was the day Celeste died. The damage is still with him. Even how much he tries to conceal it, you cannot just conceal something that hunts you every sleep.

“Are you going home?” I paused from keeping my things back in my bag when he suddenly spoke.

Our eyes crossed and I found him already staring at me. The mountains of papers and folders on his desk captured my eyes. It seems like he won't be able to leave yet with his workload.

“Yeah. It's already 7 pm,” I uttered and checked the time again on my phone.

“Is it?” His brows crossed and looked at his wrist watch. It seems like he didn't know that it was already evening.

“Let's go home together,”

If I am drinking something, I would definitely throw it up in front of him. But then, there I was, turned into a statue. I could not move a bit while I was processing what he just said. I remained eyeing him with my eyes widened.

“Huh?”

See? I was not myself.

“I'll drive you,” he said and started to get his things, leaving the piling papers on his desk.

“What about these?” I asked.

He only smirked as he wore his coat again.

“Come on, Dahlia. I own the company,” he just slapped me with how wealthy he is. Oh, yeah. He's the CEO of this company, Dahlia.

“Shall we?” He asked and opened the door for me.

“Actually, Mr. Co—”

“Sean,” he said firmly.

I gulped while looking at him. “S-Sean… I can just catch a cab,” I said and faked a smile, praying that he would not insist anymore. He's doing so much for me.

“No, I'll drive you.” His decision was fixed; his mind won't change whatever I do. He already used his authority on me, how can I even refuse?

“Sure,” I replied with no choice.

We started walking out and I chose to walk after him intentionally. It's because I saw all the eyes of the other employees watching us in secrecy. Sean was only walking densely, with his forehead proudly raised upwards.

But then, he suddenly walked backwards and when I looked at him, we were both walking together, with him beside me.

“What are you doing?” I whispered as I checked their hiding stares at us.

“Walking,” he replied.

I couldn't complain because he is my boss and all their eyes were watching us through their cubicles. So, I immediately ran to the elevator and went inside first before him.

“Why are you running?” His brows were crossed.

“No reason,” I chose not to tell anything to him.

Sean heaved a sigh. “Don't mind them and don't listen to what you hear from them.”

I glanced at him through his reflection in the elevator. Good thing that there are only the two of us inside.

“You should only listen to me, Dahlia.”

I regretted looking at him when I found him staring at me already. Because of that move, he captured me easily. I have a lot of questions playing inside my head. Sean looked serious and firm when he said that.

“O-Of course,” I replied, exactly when the elevator stopped and opened as it brought us to the ground floor.

“You walked beside me, not behind me.” He uttered before he came out first and I have no choice but to do what he told me to.

“Chin up and don't mind their gazes at you.” He mumbled as we began to march out of the company.

I gulped and did what he told me to. Beyond their eyes watching me, I managed to ignore it just like what he said. Their eyes were like bullets that penetrated my entire body.

“You did well,” a smile quickly appeared on his lips.

“The keys, Mr. Cohen.” A man in a black suit said and handed him the key. He even bowed to Sean, paying his high respect to him.

That is exactly my point. How can I call him by his name when his people are treating him like this? I bit my lower lip. His black car was shining like a mirror. Again, Sean slapped me about how rich he is.

I was about to open the door in the back seat when Sean opened the door in the passenger seat.

Our eyes were left together, and I didn't know how to respond.

“Am I your driver?” He asked with an unbelievable smirk.

“Huh? Of course not!” I exclaimed immediately, with fear of getting fired.

“I-I… I was checking the back seat, yeah.” I lied and quickly went to the passenger seat before I could even lose my new job.

“What are you thinking, Dahlia?” I mumbled and shut my eyes firmly.

“Seat belt,” he said as he came in.

When I was about to do it, Sean interfered again and fixed my seatbelt. I almost stopped my breathing as soon as he went closer. Did I mention that his scent was addictive? Because at that moment, I was so close to closing my eyes because of his scent. I gulped while I could see how handsome and perfect he is with his face so close to mine. One wrong move, and he could definitely reach my lips, so I chose not to move.

I chased my breathing in silence when he came back to his seat. My heart was racing. He made my entire body cold.

“Do you know where my place is?” I asked and broke the silence between us.

“Of course. I sent you tons of appliances, right?” My brows raised and my lips turned circled. I almost forgot about the crazy thing that he did.

Until we reached my apartment’s place, I chose to remain silent. All the way, I just want to get out of the car because of the deafening silence. He was too focused on driving.

“Thanks for driving me home,” I said and bowed my head a bit.

“No worries,” he replied.

“I'll go now,” I said, before I turned my back and went upstairs. I chose not to look back even though I was being tempted to look. It's better not to. Today is enough.

“He's driving me crazy,” I mumbled as soon as I sat foot inside my apartment.

I took a deep breath as I turned on the lights.

The next day, as soon as I woke up, I immediately went to the bathroom to take a shower and prepare myself to work again. When I was about to leave, my eyes stopped at the appliances that Sean sent.

“I should sell them,” I uttered and shook my head as I headed out of my apartment.

“Hey, you didn't tell me that you have a rich boyfriend.” The landlady said while smoking this early.

My brows crossed. “Boyfriend?” I chuckled. Is she out of her mind now?

“Yeah. The handsome guy? He's been waiting for you there,”

“Huh?” I quickly shifted my eyes to where she was looking at. There was Sean Cohen, standing in front of his luxurious car downstairs. He even waved his hand at me when he saw me.

“Sean?” I mumbled that my face cannot be painted anymore.

“Oh, fvck.” I commented while watching his wide smile at me.
