‘Where did they put that she wolf?’ Sebastian Denizen asked his Beta, Scott, after his meeting with Alpha Colton.
‘They already sent her beyond the boundary of the pack’. ‘How is Colton handling the affairs of his pack? Things are not done properly at all. Times are hard and security should be taken serious.’ He shrugged and waved at Scott. ‘Let’s go, maybe we can find her and take her in. She shouldn’t have gone far in this rain’. ‘My Alpha, I advise that we set out after the rain, the roads are tricky.’ Sebastian nodded and they waited in the car till the rain subsided. ‘Did you get any information as touching the rogues?’ Sebastian asked Scott as they drove out of Colton’s yard. ‘Yes, my Alpha. They were sighted towards the north side of the gingham forest, beyond Blood Moon Pack’s territory. Their enforcers pursued the rogues but couldn’t catch any of them.’ ‘Hmmn. They are still on the move. Marcus is still searching for wolfless virgins. When will he stop this nonsense? I must put an end to this.’ ‘Alpha, that she wolf they banished…’ ‘…might be a virgin? And wolfless?’ Sebastian completed Scott’s statement and looked at him quizzically. Scott nodded twice. ‘Then it would be difficult to smell her in these woods. The rain would have erased her footprints too. Park the car close to that tree.’ Scott parked the car close to the spot that Ava rested during the rain. They searched for some time, and then moved back to their car. ‘My alpha, your parents have invited you to dinner at their mansion tonight.’ Sebastian rolled his eyes and mumbled. ‘I know.’ ‘With Miss Lila Lincoln.’ Sebastian added reluctantly. ‘I’ve told them already that Lila cannot be my Luna. She is like my little sister. How can they expect us to be together?’ ‘But my Alpha’, Scott calmly posited, ‘It’s for the good of the pack. Having a Luna will strengthen your position as our alpha and qualify you as a candidate for the Lycan king’s position at the council meeting of the elders.’ ‘I know’, Sebastian responded with a frown on his face, ‘which is why I await the moon goddess’ final decision on my mate. A divine mate is still the best.’ ‘Miss Lila is good for Denizens Pharmaceuticals…’ ‘Are you tired of your position, Beta?’ Sebastian growled at him. ‘I apologise my alpha’. Scott bowed a little as he turned a curve on the forest road. Sebastian nodded and looked away from him, into the forest. ‘Stay within your boundary. You may be my friend, but I am your Alpha. You serve me, not my parents.’ ‘Yes, my Alpha.’ Scott said, with a low voice. They drove on for some time in silence, then Sebastian perceived burning leaves. He searchd till he saw smoke deep in the woods. Could that be the rogues? He told Scott to pack the car and walked around, turning up his heightened senses to pick up clues. Sweet aroma of food wafted from the left side of the woods, where the smoke ascended to the sky. He could smell a human there. Are humans in cahoots with the rogues? Sebastian told Scott to scout the territory to the right while he moved to the left side. Dusk was falling fast and he nearly stepped on horse’s dung, right on his path. He saw its hoof prints too. Could that she wolf be with a human on horse? Sebastian thought. That meant she was safe and might not need his help. He decided to return to the car in order to be on time for dinner with his parents. Another thought occurred to him. Could the she wolf and the human be with the rogues? Perhaps that was why Colton wanted her dead. He moved slowly through the woods till he got to where the two people were. He saw the man cooking something in the pot and the she wolf nursing her wounds. He was about to move back when he heard the man tell her something strange. ‘Finish your food, you need to fatten up before I eat you’. He saw the fear on the girl’s face and knew she was not really safe. Just then, his wolf roused from within him and growled. ‘Danger! Rogues in the perimeter!’ Sebastian turned and looked around. With his heightened sight, he could see rogue wolves advancing about a hundred kilometer from his own spot. He mind linked with Scott to withdraw from his position, which the latter did immediately. They brought out guns from their car and hid their car a long distance away from their location. The moon shone brightly in the sky as they laid wait for the rogues. In about the space of an hour, the rogues, now in their human form, moved towards where the human made food, armed with weapons. Sebastian and Scott followed them unnoticed. His wolf leapt excitedly, ready for fight. ‘She’s in danger!’ He looked closely and saw the she wolf struggling with the human. ‘Please sir. Don’t do this, I will be your servant. I will work hard for my upkeep. Don’t take away my precious…’ Sebastian was carried away with the scene and did not notice that one of the rogues already shifted and lunged at the man. He fired the gun in his hand. He heard the girl scream, in a screeching voice, very loud yet melodious, crying for help, still sweet to the ears. He was transfixed by her siren-like voice. ‘Let’s go and help her. She may be our mate!’ He heard his wolf snarled at him and came to his senses. Scott was also waiting for Sebastian for instructions. ‘Alpha?’ ‘Go!’ The horse rushed at them and would have knocked Scott down if not for Sebastian that quickly drew him back. The horse neighed as it galloped away, obviously frightened. Scott led the way into the human camp but no one was there. Pots were scattered on the ground, the fire had been put out, signs of struggle evident on the ground. Sebastian smelled the steely odour of blood and saw the human lying facedown, battered and stomped upon. He looked around for the she wolf but it seemed they were too late. The rogues had taken her with them. ‘We came late. She could have been our mate.’ His wolf reprimanded him. ‘Shut up!’ Sebastian shouted back, running his hand through his hair in frustration. Scott ran back to him and pointed towards the north. ‘They moved in that direction’. ‘What are you waiting for? Let’s chase them!’ ‘My Alpha, we’re outnumbered. There were about twelve of them.’ Sebastian considered the odds of fighting the rogues and the possibility of rescuing the girl on time. ‘Also, we might be late for dinner with …’ ‘The pack comes first.’When will all these calamities end? Ava nearly fainted at the sound of the gunshot. She screamed so hard she did not know how to stop. The bounty hunter ran to hide at the sound of the gunshot. Ava saw the opportunity to escape and struggled up from her position. She saw that it was a wolf that fell before the gun was shot. Not caring about who did what, she was focused on finding a way of escape. If only she could disappear from this place. In all her twenty-one years of life, she had never wished for her wolf as much as she did at this moment. If only she had her wolf, she would have escaped from all these dangers. As she got up from her seat, a pair of strong hands forced her down. Some men rushed in and she saw the wolf mugging the bounty hunter. He struggled initially but was soon overpowered. Well, he got what he deserved. ‘Please help me. I want to leave this place.’ The wolf that killed the man shifted back to his human form and growled at the other men wolves. ‘Take
Serene music permeated the atmosphere, joyful sounds echoed in response from within Ava. Flowery scents competed with one another as Ava picked out smells of roses and lilac, among others. She involuntarily sniffed deeply to assimilate and possibly store the sweet savor for later use. Her ears tingled as she turned her head here and there in search of the melodious strain. The sky above her head was blue without a trace of clouds, bright light filled everywhere. Ava threw a glance up to check where the sun rose from in this land of utopia, but no harsh sun was above, only brightness. Am I dead? She wondered then sighed in relief. That would be okay, it would be good riddance to the bad rubbish that her life had turned out to be. Maybe she would even meet her parents. Will I be able to recognize them? It’s been so long. At least they would recognize her, she consoled herself.Ava’s eyes travelled beyond the horizon as she searched for a possible companion in this beautiful space. She
At the rogues laboratory, the doctor gave Ava a dose of anesthetics and she slipped into peaceful sleep, her body relaxing from the shock it had before she fainted. Assisted by two wolves, part of the rogues, they set Ava in place by strapping her to the bed with ropes. Her hands and legs were swiftly tied as she laid on her back, unconscious. The doctor inserted canola into her vein and connected it to an empty bag, where her blood slowly drained into. A pair of rogues stayed on either side of the bed, guarding Ava as she gave them the precious liquid their leader needed, the very life in her.‘This pant is almost full.’ The doctor said as he monitored the collection process.‘Her blood is quite clean.’ One of the rogues observed.‘It’s making me hungry.’ Another rogue snarled as he coveted the blood.‘You’d better control yourself!’ His colleague growled at her.‘This is pure blood, meant for the sacrifice. After all she is a virgin, she has not been contaminated by many donors.’ Th
‘You were born for a purpose Ava. You have a great destiny. Be strong and courageous.’ Ava nodded in agreement.‘Next is your mission.’Ava looked at Nadia, her wolf and fell in love with her at once. Nadia, Ava's loyal wolf companion, was a stunning creature with a thick, plush coat of grey fur that seemed to shimmer in the light. Her fur was a mesmerizing blend of dark and light greys, with subtle hints of blue and black that gave her a mysterious, smoky appearance. Her eyes were a piercing yellow, with a sharp, intelligent glint that missed nothing. Her ears were triangular and alert, always perked up and listening for any sign of danger. Her muzzle was narrow and pointed, with a subtle black nose that twitched with every scent.Nadia's body was sleek and athletic, built for speed and agility. Her legs were long and powerful, with paws that seemed to barely touch the ground as she moved. Her tail was long and feathery, with a subtle plume at the end that she used to express her moo
‘She’s waking up.’ Ava heard from a long distance as the swoosh sound ended and she realized she was back in her body. She felt pinned down, as if a heavy drum had been rolled upon her. The pain in her broken leg was back and she could not move any part of her body.‘That shouldn’t be,’ she heard the doctor said. ‘She is not supposed to wake up for the next five hours.’ Ava remembered how she had fainted when she saw the long needle in the doctor’s hands. So these rogues are bent on taking my blood. I need to get up and stop them. Ava thought in her heart. Before the thoughts finished forming, she felt herself sit up. Her eyes were still closed but the things that tied her down were falling off by themselves. Ava felt her broken leg crackle and the bone straightened. She only felt a slight pain at the ankle and her leg was healed.‘Impossible!’ She heard the doctor scream and suddenly, Ava lost control of her body as a force, greater than her, took over. It was a bright night, the mo
As Ava leapt from the window of the rogue laboratory, the warm glow of flickering fluorescent lights gave way to the cool, dark embrace of the night air. Nadia, her loyal wolf companion, led the way, her paws barely making a sound as they sailed through the void. The wind whipped Ava's hair into a frenzy, her heart racing with the thrill of escape. Time seemed to slow as they hung suspended, the laboratory's ominous facade receding into the distance. Then, with a gentle thud, they landed on the edge of a rugged cliff, the earth crumbling beneath their feet. The ground dropped away precipitously, plunging into darkness.Below, a hidden cave yawned like an open mouth, its entrance shrouded in shadows. The air emanating from the cave was damp and earthy, filled with the scent of moss and secrets. Ava's eyes adjusted slowly to the darkness, and she saw the cave's outline, a haven from the laboratory's sterile confines. Nadia, sensing freedom within their grasp, let out a triumphant howl,
Sebastian trudged through the forest, his paws heavy with disappointment and frustration. He had been so sure he could find the wolfless omega, save her from the rogues' clutches. But now, as he returned home with Scott by his side, he couldn't shake the feeling of failure. His mind replayed every moment, every decision, wondering what he could have done differently. The weight of his responsibility as alpha settled heavy on his shoulders. He had let someone down, someone who needed his help, though she was not yet part of his pack. He had been somehow responsible for her banishment and must do his utmost to save her. If only he had not been mesmerized by her scintillating voice, he scolded himself before his wolf, Lois, could. As they approached the pack's territory, Sebastian's senses picked up the familiar scents and sounds, but they brought him no comfort. He felt restless, anxious, his thoughts consumed by the omega's unknown fate. Scott, sensing his alpha's turmoil, drove the c
Sebastian took permission from his uninvited guests and headed to his room, to freshen up. What he had planned to do slowly had to be rushed because although he was the present alpha of their pack, he dared not be rude to his parents, who were Alpha and Luna before him having being mated to the love of his life, Aaron, Sebastian’s father, decided to retire early when Sebastian came of age, so that he could enjoy quality time with his wife. He also took up political post among the elders of the pack, as one of the Council members. Sebastian returned to his guest after ten minutes, physically refreshed and mentally prepared. As he took his seat at the dinner table, he still couldn't help but feel like a trapped animal, cornered by the expectations of those around him. His parents' enthusiasm and Lila's charming smiles only added to the suffocating atmosphere. His mother, ever the gracious hostess, began to serve the first course, a delicate soup that wafted a savory aroma through the a
