When will all these calamities end? Ava nearly fainted at the sound of the gunshot. She screamed so hard she did not know how to stop. The bounty hunter ran to hide at the sound of the gunshot. Ava saw the opportunity to escape and struggled up from her position. She saw that it was a wolf that fell before the gun was shot. Not caring about who did what, she was focused on finding a way of escape. If only she could disappear from this place.
In all her twenty-one years of life, she had never wished for her wolf as much as she did at this moment. If only she had her wolf, she would have escaped from all these dangers. As she got up from her seat, a pair of strong hands forced her down. Some men rushed in and she saw the wolf mugging the bounty hunter. He struggled initially but was soon overpowered. Well, he got what he deserved. ‘Please help me. I want to leave this place.’ The wolf that killed the man shifted back to his human form and growled at the other men wolves. ‘Take her to the base.’ A very muscular bare-chested man moved closer to Ava and picked her up, as if she was a piece of cloth. He put her on his shoulder and went away into the night. Fresh tears fell unhindered from Ava’s eyes. The moon hid behind the clouds as if in empathy with Ava. Swiftly they moved through the woods, Ava’s legs swinging as the burly man sped to their destination. Twenty, thirty, forty, sixty, hundred … Ava was counting the number of steps the man took as walked, maybe she would still need to escape from these ones. Too tired from crying, she lost count of steps and time as she eventually drifted to sleep. The sharp pain in her broken leg woke her up suddenly. She opened her eyes and realized she was now sitting on the floor, propped against the wall of a house. She wondered where she was. The room was dimly lit, with pots and utensils neatly arranged on a rustic table. It looked like a big kitchen. She saw herbs hanging around as they dried. Little sacks of powdery substances were stacked in heaps in a corner of the room. Knives in various sizes were laid in order on an iron tray, on a smaller table. Could this be a butcher’s kitchen? She heard footsteps approaching and closed her eyes as if still sleeping. She needed to know the situation around her. No one can help you now, prepare for the worst. The words of that treacherous note slid across her mind again and she cursed the writer in her heart. Her fists clenched beside her as she slowly breathed in and out, to calm her nerves. ‘My Lord. Here she is.’ Ava opened her eyes slightly and saw a dark man as he strode into the room. He was over six feet tall and must weigh over two hundred pounds. He should be about thirty years old, though he looked older. His head was bare of hair, his facial hair was full and frightening. His voice was deep and loud as he spoke. Ava’s legs knocked against each other. ‘How did you find her?’ ‘She’s from Blood Moon pack. She was banished because she was wolfless and useless to them.’ ‘Is she a virgin?’ The man barked at them. All eyes turned to the he wolf that mauled the bounty hunter. Ava watched as he stepped forward and nodded. ‘She must be. A human was at the verge of assaulting her and she begged him not to take her precious thing by force. That was why I stopped the man.’ ‘You have done well Tim. You really deserve the position of my Beta.’ The man drew closer to Ava, who by now had her eyes fully opened. He lifted her chin with his fore finger and smelled her. ‘She is totally wolfless. No smell at all.’ He stared into her eyes and smiled wickedly. ‘She’s a pretty little thing and would have served as a good mate to a wolf, popping out some little pups. But…’ He dropped her face and patted her on the head. ‘You will serve a greater cause. Your blood will go round the world. You will be remembered till the end of time. You are the last ingredient.’ He turned and walked away from the room, ordering his men as they closed the door after him. ‘Let her do the virginity test. If she passes, prepare her for the lab. If she fails, cut her into pieces and feed her to the snakes.’ Ava felt her blood drain and her vision blurred as her head became light. Snakes? She shivered involuntarily. She shook her head and tried to focus as her situation indeed went from worse to worst. Two men grabbed her and lifted her up, another man gave her a long bottle with a small mouth. ‘Go to that corner and fill this with your urine. Pour it straight into the bottle. Understood?’ the man the leader called Tim ordered Ava. She nodded her head vigorously in obedience. What would they do with her urine? Was her urine the ingredient they needed? She slowly wobbled to the said corner, turned her back to the men and squeezed her bladder until urine came out in trickles. The bottle was half full when she stopped, her bladder was empty. She covered the bottle and wobbled back to present it to the men. ‘Stay there and hold the bottle.’ Tim ordered. Ava’s hand froze midway as she was extending the bottle to the nearest man. Tim then told two of those around him to go to the corner. ‘Check the floor. Are there many drops?’ They carried a lamp from the table and checked the floor of the corner thoroughly. They came back with smiles on their faces. ‘Not a single drop sir. She passed the test. She is a virgin.’ The men clapped in excitement, as if a major mission had been fulfilled, confusing Ava the more. Ava slowly withdrew her hand holding the urine bottle and sighed in relief. At least she would not be fed to the snakes. But how did they know that I am a virgin? She thought to herself. Which type of test was that? ‘Now take her to the laboratory and draw out all her blood. Her virgin blood is the last ingredient for the portion my lord wants to make. Draw out every single blood in her, the more the blood, the better for us.’ They all laughed as two men carried Ava, the bottle of urine still in her hand. A hand snatched the bottle from her and her hope of defending herself shattered. She was taken to another room and placed on a long table. The moon came out of its hiding at last and shone brightly on the laboratory. It was a full moon. The room seemed like a hospital ward with medical trays and bottles neatly arranged. It stank of antiseptics. Some white tubes were hung around a white pole. One of the men brought the tray of knives along. Ava froze as a man wearing a white lab coat approached her with long needles and syringe. Her eyes followed as the man fixed the needled on the syringe and grabbed her hand. She screamed with all her strength and fainted. Ava felt as if she was swapped with another as she landed in a bright place, filled with beautiful flowers. She saw the Moon Goddess approach her. ‘My daughter, your troubles are almost over.’ She said as she caught Ava in a hug.Serene music permeated the atmosphere, joyful sounds echoed in response from within Ava. Flowery scents competed with one another as Ava picked out smells of roses and lilac, among others. She involuntarily sniffed deeply to assimilate and possibly store the sweet savor for later use. Her ears tingled as she turned her head here and there in search of the melodious strain. The sky above her head was blue without a trace of clouds, bright light filled everywhere. Ava threw a glance up to check where the sun rose from in this land of utopia, but no harsh sun was above, only brightness. Am I dead? She wondered then sighed in relief. That would be okay, it would be good riddance to the bad rubbish that her life had turned out to be. Maybe she would even meet her parents. Will I be able to recognize them? It’s been so long. At least they would recognize her, she consoled herself.Ava’s eyes travelled beyond the horizon as she searched for a possible companion in this beautiful space. She
At the rogues laboratory, the doctor gave Ava a dose of anesthetics and she slipped into peaceful sleep, her body relaxing from the shock it had before she fainted. Assisted by two wolves, part of the rogues, they set Ava in place by strapping her to the bed with ropes. Her hands and legs were swiftly tied as she laid on her back, unconscious. The doctor inserted canola into her vein and connected it to an empty bag, where her blood slowly drained into. A pair of rogues stayed on either side of the bed, guarding Ava as she gave them the precious liquid their leader needed, the very life in her.‘This pant is almost full.’ The doctor said as he monitored the collection process.‘Her blood is quite clean.’ One of the rogues observed.‘It’s making me hungry.’ Another rogue snarled as he coveted the blood.‘You’d better control yourself!’ His colleague growled at her.‘This is pure blood, meant for the sacrifice. After all she is a virgin, she has not been contaminated by many donors.’ Th
‘You were born for a purpose Ava. You have a great destiny. Be strong and courageous.’ Ava nodded in agreement.‘Next is your mission.’Ava looked at Nadia, her wolf and fell in love with her at once. Nadia, Ava's loyal wolf companion, was a stunning creature with a thick, plush coat of grey fur that seemed to shimmer in the light. Her fur was a mesmerizing blend of dark and light greys, with subtle hints of blue and black that gave her a mysterious, smoky appearance. Her eyes were a piercing yellow, with a sharp, intelligent glint that missed nothing. Her ears were triangular and alert, always perked up and listening for any sign of danger. Her muzzle was narrow and pointed, with a subtle black nose that twitched with every scent.Nadia's body was sleek and athletic, built for speed and agility. Her legs were long and powerful, with paws that seemed to barely touch the ground as she moved. Her tail was long and feathery, with a subtle plume at the end that she used to express her moo
‘She’s waking up.’ Ava heard from a long distance as the swoosh sound ended and she realized she was back in her body. She felt pinned down, as if a heavy drum had been rolled upon her. The pain in her broken leg was back and she could not move any part of her body.‘That shouldn’t be,’ she heard the doctor said. ‘She is not supposed to wake up for the next five hours.’ Ava remembered how she had fainted when she saw the long needle in the doctor’s hands. So these rogues are bent on taking my blood. I need to get up and stop them. Ava thought in her heart. Before the thoughts finished forming, she felt herself sit up. Her eyes were still closed but the things that tied her down were falling off by themselves. Ava felt her broken leg crackle and the bone straightened. She only felt a slight pain at the ankle and her leg was healed.‘Impossible!’ She heard the doctor scream and suddenly, Ava lost control of her body as a force, greater than her, took over. It was a bright night, the mo
As Ava leapt from the window of the rogue laboratory, the warm glow of flickering fluorescent lights gave way to the cool, dark embrace of the night air. Nadia, her loyal wolf companion, led the way, her paws barely making a sound as they sailed through the void. The wind whipped Ava's hair into a frenzy, her heart racing with the thrill of escape. Time seemed to slow as they hung suspended, the laboratory's ominous facade receding into the distance. Then, with a gentle thud, they landed on the edge of a rugged cliff, the earth crumbling beneath their feet. The ground dropped away precipitously, plunging into darkness.Below, a hidden cave yawned like an open mouth, its entrance shrouded in shadows. The air emanating from the cave was damp and earthy, filled with the scent of moss and secrets. Ava's eyes adjusted slowly to the darkness, and she saw the cave's outline, a haven from the laboratory's sterile confines. Nadia, sensing freedom within their grasp, let out a triumphant howl,
Sebastian trudged through the forest, his paws heavy with disappointment and frustration. He had been so sure he could find the wolfless omega, save her from the rogues' clutches. But now, as he returned home with Scott by his side, he couldn't shake the feeling of failure. His mind replayed every moment, every decision, wondering what he could have done differently. The weight of his responsibility as alpha settled heavy on his shoulders. He had let someone down, someone who needed his help, though she was not yet part of his pack. He had been somehow responsible for her banishment and must do his utmost to save her. If only he had not been mesmerized by her scintillating voice, he scolded himself before his wolf, Lois, could. As they approached the pack's territory, Sebastian's senses picked up the familiar scents and sounds, but they brought him no comfort. He felt restless, anxious, his thoughts consumed by the omega's unknown fate. Scott, sensing his alpha's turmoil, drove the c
Sebastian took permission from his uninvited guests and headed to his room, to freshen up. What he had planned to do slowly had to be rushed because although he was the present alpha of their pack, he dared not be rude to his parents, who were Alpha and Luna before him having being mated to the love of his life, Aaron, Sebastian’s father, decided to retire early when Sebastian came of age, so that he could enjoy quality time with his wife. He also took up political post among the elders of the pack, as one of the Council members. Sebastian returned to his guest after ten minutes, physically refreshed and mentally prepared. As he took his seat at the dinner table, he still couldn't help but feel like a trapped animal, cornered by the expectations of those around him. His parents' enthusiasm and Lila's charming smiles only added to the suffocating atmosphere. His mother, ever the gracious hostess, began to serve the first course, a delicate soup that wafted a savory aroma through the a
As Sebastian turned to head back inside, he noticed a figure watching him from the shadows. It was his mother, her eyes gleaming with a knowing light.‘Sebastian, come here,’ she said, her voice low and urgent.Sebastian approached her, feeling a sense of trepidation. ‘What is it, Mother?’‘You've made a choice, one that will have far-reaching consequences,’ she said, her voice dripping with a mix of disappointment and understanding. ‘We need answers Sebastian, why don’t you want Lila?’ Without waiting for his answer, her mother continued. ‘Lila is a lovely beta wolf, her position suits you. Her father was your father’s beta and present strongest shareholder of our company. Sebastian, you need Lila.’‘Mom, I need my fated mate. I am waiting for the Moon Goddess to give me another mate’.Sebastian's mother nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "I know, son. You've always been stubborn when it comes to following your heart. But remember, the Moon Goddess has a way of surprising us
