“…Da-dad…” her voice was hoarse and dry, which makes others a little uncomfortable.
Melissa was surprised. She wanted to ask the identity of these strangers but when she suddenly laid her eyes on the mature handsome man, she knew he was her father more specifically the father of the body she woke up in. Maybe, the memories of that child have completely been merged with her.
Looking at the crying De’Rosa family, Melissa thought she needs to accept the fact that she is Quinlynn sooner or later yet even with merged memories she could not find herself accepting that she is Quinlynn Irsiavel De’Rosa.
How can she easily accept these people as her parents and family? After all, her 26 years worth of memories spend with her actual family cannot even compare to a child’s incomplete memories…she just cannot accept this life at all and she feels so lost and lonely.
“My little Queen…Thank God, you finally woke up…” a sobbing voice woke Melissa out from her gloomy thoughts. Looking up, she saw a beautiful well-groomed women looking around 5os crying on the shoulder of a handsome tall man looking in his 60s or 70s. Melissa could not tell their real age.
“Grandma…” her hoarse voice whispered softly. This body remembers them so well that Melissa could not accept it…she could not accept her current identity at all. She feels guilty stealing someone else’s body…a child’s body yet when this body that has been in a coma for almost 8 years responds to these people…her heart throbs with such longingness that it hurts.
Crying, old madam De’Rosa came forward…hands shaking, she carefully took her granddaughter’s hand and said, “Thank God, you're alright now…thank god, you’re here with us.”
Melissa could not help but to comfort this poor woman. Even though her throat hurts when speaking, she softly said, “…it’s okay now, I am here. I am not going anywhere.”
‘Although I am not your actual granddaughter, I can only impersonate her.’ Melissa thought as she hugged this woman, feeling guilty.
Old Master De’Rosa looked at his wife and his granddaughter hugging each other. Lamenting over the cruelties his granddaughter has faced at the tender age. Sighing… He looked over his silent son who has been sitting on the leather chair for the past few hours. He knows his son too well, on the outside he looks indifferent and calm as deep as the sea but his eyes tell a different story. Complex emotions swirl in his eyes and his hand clutching the armrest yet he never got up or spoke any words. He has such a boring son. Not even crying for once, alas I wanted to see him cry.
‘Tsk…tsk…this brat takes after me too much.’ He thought dryly.
Standing up, Duke Autumus went forward to hug his daughter right after his mother let her out of her embrace. Amused, Old Madam De’Rosa also joined the father and daughter pair for a family hug.
Face dark, Old master De’Rosa grumpily murmured, “ I take it back…Brat is quite an action taker unlike me who is always forgotten from the family activities. It's not my fault that I can't express my emotions well. ”
“Husband dear, come over here…” Laughing, Old madam De’Rosa waved him over for a group hug.
Speechless, Duke Autumus looked at his father with disdain.
Mary Lin and other servants cried watching this family of four hugging each other.
‘I wish Miss Lilith was here…’ Mary thought wishfully ‘…but it’s okay now that the young lady has awakened and for that, I am truly happy.’
Melissa stayed stiffly without even moving her muscles.
Staring at her now small hands belonging to a child. She frowned.
Unlike the warm happy atmosphere in the room, Melissa’s thoughts were gloomy and dark. She felt she does not deserve this love. This love from this family is so pure…so beautiful that she felt she was robbing the real Quinlynn’s happiness. And she could not accept this overwhelming love. She wanted to tell them that she is not the real Quinlynn but she is scared…terrified even. How could she possibly tell them that she is a 26 years old woman who is currently residing in their 13 years old daughter's body? How can she tell them when there is a certain possibility of her killing off the real Quinlynn? How can they believe her that they are just characters in paper created by someone else? In the first place, would they believe this weird situation? Maybe they might send her to asylum or even worst…they might get her killed. Either way, both the outcome sounds very bad for her.
She should just pretend as Quinlynn Irsiavel De’Rosa until she figures out how she ended up in this novel.
Duke Autumus noticed his daughter’s stiff body and frowning face. With the look of enlightenment, he called Dr Josh over to check her body. Worry written all over his face, he asked, “Doctor, What’s the condition of her body?”
“Don’t worry, Duke Autumus. Young Lady’s condition is stable for now.” Answered the middle-aged looking doctor with glasses “Once she gets proper nutrition and gets physiotherapy. She can get back to a normal and healthy person.”
“Doctor Josh, Thank you for coming all the way from Balas City. You even cancelled your important meeting.” Old Madam De’Rosa thanked him with a kind smile. Turning back to the servants she said, “Okay everyone, it’s getting late. Please move along, Quinlynn needs her rest.”
“Doctor Josh, shall we go?” she asked while giving her hand to him for an escort.
“After you, Madame” bowing slightly, he politely took her hand and left the room.
Face gloomy and dark, Old Master De’Rosa followed after them grumpily murmuring about his wife cheating right in front of him.
Duke Autumus watched these people finally leaving his daughter’s room. Turning back towards his daughter, he saw her blankly staring at her hands.
Softly he asked, “Quinlynn, Do you want to rest?”
Seeing her nodding slowly, he tucked her into bed. Reading a book for a while, he watched her breathing becoming more regular. Seeing her asleep, he slowly stood up. He silently walked out of the room with light footsteps and turned off the lights leaving only darkness in the room.
Melissa slowly opened her eyes and adjusted to the darkness around her. She watched her so-called father going out of the room.
Staring at the ceiling for a while, she contemplated her next actions.
Melissa can pretend to be Quinlynn…no! She has to be Quinlynn after all she can’t guarantee her survival. No one would doubt her after all the original Quinlyn died in such as young age. She can be Quinlynn at least until she finds out the real reason why she was brought here?
Yes, from the beginning, Melissa never believed this so-called luck of getting a second chance in life. She believed there might be some reason that she woke up in this body. There is no evidence that she died in her previous world. She only assumed that she died from overworking. This does not add up to anything. All the information she knows about this world comes from that retarded novel and it does not help her at all. She does not have any information regarding the De’Rosa family apart from the incomplete memories of the original Quinlynn and three lines from the novel. But she is sure that they are not closely linked with the protagonist and the novel plot. For this, Melissa is thankful.
From the De’Rosa family, only Quinlynn is linked to the novel as irrelevant cannon fodder meant to die. If she can avoid this ending, Melissa can survive till she finds the truth.
Melissa…oh wait, she is Quinlynn now…clenched her hand as she made her mind to avoid all the novel related character especially the heroine and her harem members at any cost.
‘From now on, I will absolutely avoid them all!’
The De’Rosa household is located in Aldrich City’s remote Noble villa neighbourhood, which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers. While the main house of De’Rosa family’s location is unknown.Aldrich City is the capital city of Atlas Kingdom. Without exception, all the wealthy and influential people all over the Kingdom are in this city. Even with their power and influence, they will try their best to buy land in this capital city. Because on one hand, this will solidify their status, on other hand, they can get easier access to make contacts with Nobel household.
“Huh?” Quinlynn looked towards the boy with pity in her eyes.‘Father, where did you kidnapped this poor kid from?’ Casting her eyes towards her father and towards the poor kid again, Quinlynn suddenly looked at her father with realization and disdain in her eyes. ‘Don’t tell me this is your illegitimate child born out of wedlock while your daughter was in a coma.’ As if reading her thoughts, Duke Autumus coughed and explained hurriedly, “Quinlynn, Dr Josh told me that you need to be around kids your age. Don’t worry he is not your little brother. I brought him as your playmate.” ‘Dad is loyal husband to you mother’. Looking at him warily, Quinlynn asked, “Father, whose child is he?” ‘Where did you kidnap him from?’was left unsaid. “Vincent is my old friend’s, Marquise Blaze’s son.” Duke Autumus said as he softly ruffled the boy’s
It was midnight, unlike the usual busyness in the afternoon the hallway was filled with silence. Moonlight spilled through the huge window softly creating a hazy glow on the figure walking silently up the stairs. Mary Lin softly knocked on the door, hearing a soft ‘come in’ she entered the room. Mary saw Duke Autumus signing some documents seriously gesturing her to talk with his left hand. “Master, these are the reports from the people we have sent to investigate Marquise Blaze household.” Mary respectfully handed the documents. “Hmm…you can leave now.” Duke Autumus continued to do his work not bothering to look at her. A few moments later, Duke Autumus sighed and looked towards Mary. “What is it?” “Master, May I ask why you want young miss to befriend young master Vincent?” ‘After all, Young miss was trying hard despite young master Blaze avoiding her like
“Young Lady…Young lady!” “Huh?... Where?” Quinlynn jolted up realizing that she almost hit her face into her cream soup. “Young lady, you almost downed your face into the soup,” Mary said with concern while taking away the soup from the table. Quinlynn yawned, “Mary, don’t worry. I just didn’t sleep well yesterday.” The truth is that she was readi
“It is said that long before the world was created. The creation goddess Amity was born from the chaos and order of the universe. As an only living being, she continued to live surrounded by darkness for aeons. Lonely and sad, she finally died due to loneliness. Her hair transformed into stars, her eyes into the sun and the moon, her tears turned into ocean and rivers, her flesh formed into mountains and land, her blood formed other living beings and from her heart, we humans came into this world…”“Well, that’s just bullshit- ahem… I mean a famous myth. I recommend you to read the book ‘How was the world formed? Science Not Myth by Dr Josh Miller’ for in-depth knowledge.”Currently, two small heads were watching the lecture given by a big person before them. Quinlynn, who finally is friends with Vincent thought she could hang out with him but she was forced by her maid to study. Apparently, she is healthy and soo
A city as prosperous as Aldrich city looks very dazzling towards one's eyes. People would laugh, enjoy their daily life full of luxuries within the city after all Aldrich city is known as ‘The City of Luxuries’ where all people with wealth, power are gathered. Hack, even the commoners have the better living condition than most people from various districts inside the Kingdom. But they would never know that far west from the city, there is a place called Territory 26 is located. Territory 26, a place filled with filth, treachery, poverty and a dumping place for trashes. It is a place where committing crimes are normal. Here, the strong prey on weak and weak…if they don’t get strong, they will die in a ditch somewhere. Mary Lin hates this place, this is the place where she grew up and almost died. If not for Miss Lilian, she would not have survived. The only good thing she learnt from this place is to be strong…stronger than anyone that no one can touch her after all strong su
In a dark alley, a figure could be seen rummaging through the dumpsters. If you take a closer look, the figure has a head full of long messy hair, it is hard to determine the gender but the figure looks about 10 years old or older. Their malnourished body looked sickly, wearing tattered clothes filled with holes and patches. Their face was dusted with snot and mud, hands search through a dumpster to find anything to fill their empty stomach. Their eyes light up as they found a loaf of bread. The bread was a little blue and green at the edges but for them it was still edible, huffing down they devoured it quickly as possible fearing that someone would snatch it from them. A big figure loomed over the small one, with aBangthe small figure jumped out of the dumpster with a pained look on their face. “Damn you brat! Dare to take food from my territory! I will kill you!” A man who just punched the small figure sneered. He cracked his knuckles and lung
The fire gave a hazy glow to Quinlynn’s face as she stood in front of the fireplace. She could not sleep at all. Her mind constantly goes over Vincent. Although her father has assured her that they have already tracked his location, she can’t help but worry about Vincent. What if he is in an unknown place, what if he is kidnapped for ransom or even worse killed? His delicate face full of fear and tears keeps on repeating inside her head. ‘God, please let him come back safely.’ Quinlynn prayed softly inside her mind. Mary walked into the abandoned church. Hearing a sound from her intercom, she received it, “Tezz….Delta 3 here reporting target moved I repeat target moved…Tezz…Current location: South 2miles away from your current location.” “Alpha 1. Report received.” Mary turned back towards the door to leave but she heard a sound from above. Tilting, she saw
Quinlynn watched Maya talking excitedly with Veron and Damien. Meanwhile, Vincent closely followed Quinlynn. Glancing at Vincent, Quinlynn asked, “By the way Vincent, where are you going to apply?” “I don’t know for now. What about you?” Vincent questioned. “Well, at first I thought to join napping class but now I am thinking about what different other clubs are there that is suitable for me.” Vincent was surprised, “Why you don’t want to join the napping club?” ‘I obviously can’t tell you that a psychotic person called Algar, your friend is in that club-‘“Maya won’t allow me to join so I will see if there are any good clubs out there.” Quinlynn casually put blame on Maya. “Haha…then Quinlynn need to tell me which club you will join after you decide, okay?” Vincent asked as he laughed. “Yeah sure…” Quinlynn didn’t know what she agreed to as a crowd distrac
“Wakey! Wakey!… Wake up Quinlynn!” Quinlynn frowned; turning her body she covered her head with the blanket. She thought she just heard Maya’s voice. “Oh come on! Get Up, Quinlynn!” Maya whined as she took Quinlynn’s blanket. ‘Damn…who let her in this room?!’Quinlynn blankly got up to wash her face. “Why are you here? It’s Saturday that means there is no class.” Quinlynn asked Maya with a dark face after she got dressed up. “Your roommate a second-year senior with twin tails let me in before she went out. What a nice senior you got! Anyway, I came because of this.” Maya handed her a flyer with a bright bold text written on it ‘Royal Atlas Academy’s Club Recruitment Day!Forge Bonds with others and create your exciting school years!’ ‘I don’t know why Anna let you in but aside from this what is-‘ “-Club recruitment day?” “Oh my god! You don’t know what
Quinlynn exited her room as she heard someone calling her name. “Quinlynn!...Hey!” Turning around she saw a girl jogging towards her. The girl looked cheerful and sunny with a grin on her face. Quinlynn faced her with a puzzled look,‘ Do I know you?’ The girl looked at Quinlynn’s puzzled face and said with a bright smile, “Hey Quinlynn, my name is Maya, your classmate!” “What can I do for you, Miss Maya?” Quinlynn politely asked. “Haha…I just wanted to talk to you after all I live right across from your room. So I think we must be fated with each other since you’re also in my class!” Maya continued as she caught Quinlynn’s hands, “So let’s become friends!” Quinlynn was dumbfounded by her action. She quickly recovered and rejected, “No, Thank You.”‘After all, I don’t plan to make any friends with anyone.’ “Please! I really want to become your friend!...can’t I?” Maya almost cried hearing her refusal
Looking at Quinlynn’s departing back until he could not see her at all. Vincent turned around to the three guys waiting for him. He saw Veron smirking at him, “Vincent~ how come you know the mysterious heir of the De’Rosa family? There must be something-something between you two~” Vincent saw both Damien and Algar nodding in agreement with Veron. Vincent knows there are unreasonable rumours going around in the noble circle about Quinlynn. To other’s Quinlynn is like mythology creatures that are never seen but people keep on hearing about. Unlike Quinlynn who didn’t even visit nor had debutant ball, Vincent did go to visit some gatherings, even went to his territory for few months to learn how to govern his land and meet different kinds of noble heads and their children. Although he don’t like most of the snobbish nobles, he did make some friends or allies with their children no matter how some are snobbish like their parents. In People’s
‘NoNoNo…there is no way in the hell they are in this class.’ Students gathered into a group, chatting with others after their teacher left. Quinlynn stiffly sat on the third row that was far from others. Quinlynn doesn’t know why those people are in this class. ‘Aren’t they suppose to be in 1-S?’ Quinlynn secretly glanced around the classroom. Gylen Harrison, currently surrounded by others be it both boys and girls. He definitely has a handsome face that can make any girl swoon with his black hair, electric blue eyes and on the edge of his left eye, there is a beauty mark, a mole that gives off the special charm. Caron and Caston Mills, identical twins with their beautiful angelic face. They have definitely grown up since two years ago Quinlynn saw them at Senate. ‘Why these heroine’s harem members are in her class?!’Quinlynn thought and glancing
“Here we are, my cute junior! The place you will be staying. This is my number; call me if you have any problems. Get along with your roomie~”Her senior student guide, whose name is Kana, gave her number then she left with a slam of the door. Quinlynn watched her go and looked at another presence in her room.Quinlynn was currently inside my dorm room. After waiting for their seniors to stop bickering cough flirting with each other. Quinlynn and Vincent were finally able to go inside the school. Unfortunately, they separated after finishing their school tour and were guided to their dormitory.Although the Royal Atlas Academy was filled with money in their hands, they don't have a habit of spoon-feeding the children from wealthy families. After all the school wanted were the talented students so they will give the single room to those student council members, prefects from each grade and those scholarship students. So that’
Her room was darker than usual. Quinlynn’s eyes caught a movement behind the curtains. A silhouette draped in veil. Crek…Crek…Quinlynn saw a bony hand dragged across the windowpane making a screeching noise. Frowning in discomfort, she slowly got up from her bed and walked towards the window. She opened the curtains. Her body was still as her ruby eyes widen in debrief. ‘The moon was RED.’ “Where am I?” Quinlynn muttered silently. The moon glowed as it cast its light on Quinlynn. Quinlynn felt her heart chill as she felt her shadows moving, twisting like tentacles. ‘Something feels weird about this moon.’ Quinlynn thought as she walked towards the door. She felt if she stayed in her room, something bad would happen. Before she even touched the doorknob, shadowy tentacles stretch towards her. Quinlynn felt her mouth and nose being enclosed; her legs captured slowly dragging her somewhere…dragging her towards som
Vincent looked around the decorations being put up by the maids and butlers in the living room. He ordered to put red balloons in the way he had envisioned. Satisfied with how these decorations look, he went to check the kitchen. It amazed him how time passes so quickly. It was just half a year ago that he arrived in that dangerous place although he didn’t meet that child anymore Miss Mary did assure him that the child was in a good place. Hope he can see them one more time. Arriving at the kitchen, he saw a triple-tiered cake with ‘Happy Birthday Quinlynn!’ written on it. The cake was made out of different flavours. The first layer was chocolate, the second tiered was vanilla flavoured and the third was red velvet. The huge triple-tiered cake was covered in a white icing decorated with elaborated red roses around the cake and it was towering on his small figure. He praised the chef for his hard work as he went to his room to prepare Quinlynn’s present. ‘Hope Qui
