Chapter 6: Quinlynn and her way of CEO

“Huh?”

Quinlynn looked towards the boy with pity in her eyes. ‘Father, where did you kidnapped this poor kid from?’

Casting her eyes towards her father and towards the poor kid again, Quinlynn suddenly looked at her father with realization and disdain in her eyes.

‘Don’t tell me this is your illegitimate child born out of wedlock while your daughter was in a coma.’

As if reading her thoughts, Duke Autumus coughed and explained hurriedly, “Quinlynn, Dr Josh told me that you need to be around kids your age. Don’t worry he is not your little brother. I brought him as your playmate.”

‘Dad is loyal husband to you mother’.

Looking at him warily, Quinlynn asked, “Father, whose child is he?” ‘Where did you kidnap him from?’ was left unsaid. 

“Vincent is my old friend’s, Marquise Blaze’s son.” Duke Autumus said as he softly ruffled the boy’s fluffy hair making it even fluffier. 

Quinlynn’s hand felt itchy wanting to pat the kid’s fluffy hair.

‘It's like cotton candy.’ She thought. Turning her eyes away from the boy’s hair, she looked seriously at her father and said, “I don’t need a playmate. I am perfectly fine alone.” ‘I am an adult inside and you expect me to play house with some kid. Even if he has the fluffiest hair I have ever seen, I still won’t play with him.’

Sighing helplessly, Duke Autumus looked at Mary, “Mary, can you show Vincent around? Why don’t you show some fun places around the manor?”

“Yes, Master.” Mary obeyed and ushered the small boy to go along with her. Silently closing the door. 

Hearing their fading footsteps. Duke Autumus got down to Quinlynn’s height and began, “Look, Quinlynn, I know it has been hard for you to just wake up and accept these things,” a pause, “but try to contact with others too.”

“Quinlynn, I just want you to be happy. Vincent just lost his entire family in a car accident and is the only survivor of his family. As an heir, he will be staying with our family and will have heir lesson with you.”

“Quinlynn, promise me that you will at least try to befriend Vincent.” Duke Autumus, seriously looked into Quinlynn’s eyes.

Seeing her figure reflected into her father’s clear dark orbs, she softly promised, “Okay, I promise to at least befriend him.”

Quinlynn is not a person who easily breaks her promise. She is stubborn as a bull and will do anything to fulfil her promise. She will definitely befriend that boy. 

‘It will be easy as pie to befriend some kid who hasn’t grown any hair’. Quinlynn thought herself smirking. But who knew that whenever Quinlynn wanted to talk to Vincent. He always seems to disappear and whenever she approaches him, he always runs away from her. The only time she sees him is when they are eating in the dining room and even there he sits far away from her.

‘This kid is obliviously avoiding me. What’s the reason he is always fleeing from me?’ Eyes twitching, Quinlynn thought.

After finishing her physiotherapy session, Quinlynn quickly drank the water handed by Mary Lin. Sitting in her wheelchair, Quinlynn heaved after such serious exercise she felt quite tired. She turned to Mary Lin, “Mary, do you think that ki…cough…I mean, do you think Vincent is avoiding me?” 

Mary Lin who was taking out the towel paused, “Now that I think about it, Young Master Vincent never spoke to you,” handing Quinlynn the towel to wipe her sweats off, she consoled her young lady, “don’t worry about it, young lady, I think young master Vincent is just shy. He will soon talk to you. Or I suggest you first talk to him”. 

“I would! If that brat give me a chance but he always runs away whenever I try to approach him!”  

“Br-brat…you say…Young Lady, why don’t you lower your voice first. If others hear you, they would say, heiress De’Rosa doesn’t have any manners.” Mary Lin quickly looked around the room anxiously.

“Don’t worry about it, Mary. We are the only ones here. No one is allowed to come in this part of the wing except us.” Waving her hands, Quinlynn casually assured Mary. 

“Young lady, maybe young master Vincent feels lonely in this unfamiliar house after all he just lost his family.”

“I know and I hope by befriending him he won’t feel lonely in this house.” wiping her sweats off Quinlynn frustratedly said. “But Mary, he keeps avoiding me! I don’t know what to do!”

“Wait a minute, Young lady. I have a perfect solution for your problem.” 

“Where are you goin- …and off she goes”. Quinlynn helplessly sighed, watching her personal maid eagerly leaving.

“So…this is your solution?” Quinlynn looked at the book placed in front of her. The book was covered in a dark green book cover. Looking at this book, Quinlynn somewhat felt an ominous aura coming from it. 

“Yes, young lady. This is a book written by my favourite author.” Mary Lin said.

“The Way of CEO by Lazy ICEcube.” Quinlynn read the title and the author’s name aloud. ‘Who in their right mind would choose Lazy and Ice cube as their pen name? Maybe some retard’.

“After stalki… I meant to say after investigating for days, I found out that this is her new unpublished novel. I heard someone broke into her house and stole her unfinished manuscripts and sold it at a higher price in the underground black market.” Mary Lin quickly explained after covering her slip in word that was clearly heard by Quinlynn who is looking at her wearily.

“Luckily, I found one last copy and made it into a book.” Mary Lin said with pride in her voice. ‘I am so smart. After making copies, I will again sell it in the black market and this time I am sure to get a higher price.’

“Are you sure this book can help me?” Quinlynn asked looking unsure. 

Puffing her chest, Mary Lin assured her young lady, “Don’t worry, young lady! I heard that CEOs are the creatures that are domineering type creatures and they are Noble being like you with looks, wealth and power some are said to be 'sexy'. It is said they can get whatever or whoever they desire but one creature called Heroine always deny them so CEO has to follow the way of CEO to capture their heart”.

‘I know what CEOs are…after all, I did read these kinds of novels in my previous world. But Mary, why are you mentioning CEO and Heroine as some kind of creature that is not human?!’ Quinlynn complained in her heart.

“In young lady’s case, you are the CEO and young master Vincent is the Heroine…in CEO’s term it should be ‘little rabbit or lamb’. Either way, I can guarantee, you can get young master Vincent’s attention and befriend him!” Mary Lin said with a sparkle in her eyes.

“Here, young lady. You can take it and read it tonight but remember to return it to me.” Pushing the book in front of Quinlynn’s face, Mary Lin said, “Young lady, I wish you good luck! After reading this book, I feel you can be a great domineering CEO and capture your little lamb!”

Quinlynn was overwhelmed by Mary’s enthusiastic behaviour. She could only spill out one word, “O-okay…”
