Chapter 34

When Arlo got back from work that evening, he looked exhausted but still had that familiar warmth in his eyes as he stepped into the living room. Lune was sitting on the couch, her thoughts still lingering on the conversation she’d had with Ella earlier. She smiled as soon as she saw him, and he returned it, his shoulders visibly relaxing after a long day.

"Hey," Arlo greeted, walking over to her and planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "How was your day?"

"It was good," Lune replied. "Marcus and Ella stopped by to visit. I had a nice talk with her."

Arlo raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Ella can be quite the chatterbox, but I’m glad you two got along."

They both sat down, and after a moment of quiet, Arlo shifted his attention to the matter that had been on his mind all day. "I’ve been thinking," he said, his tone gentle, "about school. Have you decided when you want to start?"
