Chapter 41

As they entered the bedroom, the atmosphere felt tense. Lune sat on the edge of the bed, her mind still replaying the events of earlier. She couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that clung to her, the intensity of what had happened between them still fresh in her mind.

Arlo noticed her silence, her body slightly stiff as if she was holding something back. His chest tightened at the sight of her so on edge. He couldn’t stand the thought of her being afraid, especially of him. He slowly sat down beside her, careful to keep his movements gentle, not wanting to startle her.

“Lune,” he began softly, his voice filled with concern. “Are you… scared of me now?”

Lune blinked and turned to look at him. His expression was full of worry, his brows furrowed as he studied her face. She could see the guilt still etched in his features, the fear that he had crossed a line he couldn’t uncross. His eyes were pleading, desperate for reassurance that he hadn’t completely broken her trust.
