Audrey’s POV
Logan dropped me to the ground like he had just been burned by hot metal my knees getting scrapped as I landed on them. I coughed intensely, greedily breathing in air like I had gone without it for days.
‘Mate!!!’ the voice continued and it felt like I was losing my mind, where was this voice coming from? Where was the air? My lungs were burning and I was hearing voices.
I lifted my head to find the alpha looking at me in a way he’d never looked at me before, he looked both amused and pissed at the same time, he looked like there was something twisting in his head.
‘Mate’ the voice repeated once again but this time it sounded like it was fading away,
‘Shut the fuck up!!! ’ I wanted to yell, but instead, I felt butterflies and warmth spread throughout my body, my heart suddenly leaped, filling me with doom and dread at the realization that Alpha Logan was my fated mate.
I must be losing my mind, this must be some kind of a prank, my brother’s head lay a few meters from my feet and the man who ripped it off is supposed to be my mate??
How is it even possible that I find my mate when I don’t have a wolf?
“It can’t be” I said out loud looking at my supposed mate, a tiny part of me wanting to run into his arms, to seek comfort to feel his embrace as well as his warm body against mine.
I looked at him, his dark orbs now replaced by stormy grey ones that could not be interpreted, He smirked at me.
“Mason, help Miss Hayes up, take her stuff to my car, she’ll be staying at the mansion” He said, his gaze holding mine as if he was trying to get a reaction out of me.
His beta stood frozen for a few seconds before doing exactly as he was told to do I had completely forgotten that he and his mate were here.
“Don’t touch me!” I barked in a tone so foreign I thought someone had taken over my body.
I mastered all the strength I could, getting up on my feet. Still holding his gaze, I walked directly to where Logan was.
He closed the distance between us, standing so close that I could feel his breath fan my face, I was both disgusted and flustered by this distance.
“MATE!” the crazy voice in my head repeated.
“You don’t want to come home with me mate?” Logan asked mockingly but his words were rather venomous.
“I would rather sleep in a grave yard” I spat looking at him dead in the eyes, almost as if daring him.
“hmm, that can be arranged, now don’t waste my time little mate I have a lot to do.” He turned around waving me off.
“Right, let me not waste your time. I Audrey Hayes of the Blue Crescent….. ” my speech was interrupted by a loud thud which came from Logan ‘s backhand colliding with my right cheek, I stumbled and almost lost my balance drawing blood from my cheeks, he was quick to grab me by the neck his nose only inches from mine.
“You, Audrey of the Blue Crescent pack are going to get in the fucking car and stop pissing me off”
I spat on his face the blood mixed saliva that had gathered in my mouth from the slap. He dropped me and I tumbled back managing to stay on my feet this time.
“I am not getting in any car with you” I screamed feeling like a maniac.
Logan slowly wiped his face which was completely void of any emotion, I was sure he would want to kill me after this but instead he lifted me off my feet throwing me over his shoulder. I kicked and screamed for him to put me down but he kept walking until we got to where his car was parked, he threw me in the trunk looking at me sadistically “there you go little mate, you don’t have to be in the car with me” he said before shutting the trunk leaving me in the dark confined space.
I couldn’t think of anything as Logan made sure the car ride was as uncomfortable as could be, it was like he was deliberately driving over rocks, I’m sure my head will have bumps after this.
The car came to halt and a few minutes later the trunk was popped open revealing a Megan who looked at me with pitiful eyes, she helped me out and led me into the house, Logan and Mason were nowhere around, I quietly followed my ex best friend as she led me into the castle of doom, this house was completely different from the pack house and I couldn’t picture Logan living in such a house.
It looked nice and calming, it was a glass house surrounded by green plants, the whole yard looked like a dome of trees, one side of the house had a waterfall flowing right along the glass I couldn’t help but part my lips in awe at the sight, the interior was nice and simple, like literally the simplest setting one would ever go for, I didn’t get to explore all the rooms, but the living area had a few black couches, a black coffee table as well a 35 inch television above the fireplace, a nice fluffy grey carpet covered the black lamination.
“Mate, smells like our mate, he smells so good” that voice that was driving me crazy said as we entered a room I’m assuming was Logan’s
“This is where you will be staying, you can freshen up and I’ll go make you some food” Megan said nervously, the guards I didn’t notice had been following us set all my bags before excusing themselves.
“I’m really sorry Audrey” Megan said before walking out. Not granting me a chance to ask what she was sorry for, was she sorry for abandoning our friendship just because she had been mated to the beta of the pack? For turning her back on me because I couldn’t shift or was she sorry that I had been mated to the devil?
Megan was my best friend for as long as I could remember all of my happy memories involve her and Scott. We met in the training fields, her father was a trainer and my brother was a trainee they both used to take us to the field with them because they had no one to take care of us and the pack house was too far, that’s how we met and became friends, imitating the trainees in the fields as they practiced, I laughed at how stupid we probably looked with sticks in our heads pretending we were wolfs.
“Welcome home little mate” A husky voice interrupted my thoughts he stood behind me his tall frame towering over mine and it felt like he was covering me in darkness.
He placed his nose in the hook of my neck breathing me in like he was taking his last breath and as creped out as I wanted to be, I actually felt warmth spread thought my body.
“So it was you? All this time it was you?” he asked lowly slowly walking around me.
“Mate, it’s still so foreign on my tongue” he whispered running his thumb along my cheek.
“You see I never really cared for such things, but Hunter wants us to give it a chance” Logan said referring to his wolf, his hand moved from caressing my cheek to being wrapped around my neck, his nose only inches from mine he was dangerously close and the stupid voice in my head was elated.
“Never, and I mean never attempt to reject me again little mate” He spat tightening his grip around my neck, I sunk my teeth in his arm and he dropped me surprised by my action.
“And don’t you ever put your filthy hands on me Mate” I spat venomously, surprised at my sudden urge to be courageous.
“This should be interesting” alpha Logan said our gazes locked.
Audrey’s POVI turned in my sleep and opened my eyes to find stormy grey ones looking directly into my orbs, I would have thought Logan would have me sleeping in another room or on the floor even but to my surprise I’ve been waking up next to him for the past four days, he is not there when I go to bed but he is there when I wake up.He hasn’t said much and I haven’t attempted to speak to him either, what can I possibly say to the man who killed my brother? I have nightmares about that day every night, Scott was the most important person in my life, He was the only person that brought any kind of happiness in my life and now he was no more.“Get dressed” Logan said interrupting my thoughts and finally speaking after our last interaction.“What?” I silently asked getting up. He got out of bed standing on his feet, his tall frame towering over me as he looked down, he wore nothing but grey sweatpants which hung dangerously low his toned abs in full view, I felt a bit flush seeing him th
AudreyI got out of the Shower to find Meagan and two other ladies in the room, a bunch of dresses were laid out on the bed, the two ladies looked me up and down in a judgy manner which I took offence to, as much as I was used to getting dirty looks and hearing whispers from the pack members it doesn’t mean it didn’t sting, there were days when it really got to me, days when I wished I didn’t exist, when I wished there was an alternate universe I could escape to.I returned the same nasty looks they had given and asked what they were all doing there, Megan replied saying it was the alpha’s orders.“We are supposed to help get you ready.”“Because I can’t do that myself?” I asked and no one answered, “Get out! all of you” I threatened lowly but the two ladies whose names I hadn’t gotten chuckled trying their best not erupt in laughter my temperature rose as rage filled me, I felt mocked and disrespected, was this Logan’s plan? To make a joke out of me, he seriously didn’t have to go th
The drive to the Palace was a quiet calm one, soft music was playing in the background and Logan kept speaking from time to time telling Audrey what to and what not to do, not in a commanding manner but just as a heads up.They got to the palace and Audrey remembered that the last time she was here was when they were on a field trip in the 6th grade, she remembers meeting the King and the Queen they were so nice she wanted to be just like the Queen. Strong, elegant, nice and graceful, but to her disappointment she had turned out to be a disgraceful non shifter who by some miracle was mated to the murderous alpha, she sighed deeply stepping out of the car.Logan wrapped his arm around her waist taking her left hand on the far end and intertwining their fingers the closeness giving her butterflies, ‘this man smells so good’ she thought to herself. Four guards and a butler were stationed at the door, they all nodded in acknowledgement at the pair, and Audrey found herself pressing harder
Audrey’s POVI squinted my eyes trying to adjust them to the light, the curtains had been drawn and breakfast had been set by my side. It’s been three weeks since I’ve seen Logan around the house, his presence I feel, but his face I don’t see, he’s been ignoring me ever since we got back from the dinner, not that I’m complaining, seeing less of him has been very healing to my mental and emotional health. I got up and prepared the bed, took a shower then went on to have my breakfast downstairs the house was so quiet my mind drifted off to all the times my brother and I sat and shared a meal together, it was just the two of us but his presence felt like I was in a room full of thousands of people, he was so kind and funny, and he always remembered to care for me. I missed him so much.“Are you crying?” Logan’s voice pierced through my thoughts, I hadn’t noticed him standing in the doorway. My heart jumped at his sight, a part of me oddly happy to see him and another filled with a newly
Audrey's POVLogan and I got in the car and followed the guard to the borders, I didn’t have the greatest memories of that area but I pushed everything backward and when we got there we found a young boy probably in his 18,19s he seemed pretty beat up, like life hadn’t dealt him the nicest hand, he was pinned to the ground by one of the guards and when he saw me he squirmed happily in what I assumed was an attempt to acknowledge my presence.“It’s you” he coughed out dryly“Moon-born” he looked at me his eyes sparkling with hope and I was just confused, why was this boy so happy to see me and what’s with the name?Logan eyed him before squatting down to his level.“Why are we here?” he asked no one in particular, his eyes fixated on the boy his hair messily covered one side of his face and his alpha aura dominated the whole place.“Alpha this boy has been snooping around the borders for the past three days, and today he came up to us claiming he needed to see the Luna.” The guard expl
Audrey and Meagan burst open the door to find both Mason and Logan in their wolf form, Mason’s grey wolf had Logan‘s black wolf pinned to the floor in an attempt to restrain him from attacking the young boy who was only a few feet away looking more frightened than when the guards had him pinned down.Audrey wondered what enraged Logan so much, he seemed so peaceful a few minutes ago skipping over rocks and buying her kebab sticks. She couldn’t help but shiver at seeing her mate so enraged his wolf was foaming and growling viciously. She took slow steps towards both wolves, her heart hammering hard against her chest, she didn’t know what she was doing but she knew she had to calm this man down.“Logan?” Her soft quiet voice echoed through the room wheilr she took the slowest steps she could towards the two big wolves pinning each other down‘Goddess is this what walking into the Lion’s den feels like?’ She thought to herself. ‘If this wolf decides to rip me apart it's game over for me
Audrey's POVI came back to the lounge with the Kit in hand Logan was now plunged on the couch his good hand tightly holding on to the glass bottle with brown liquor in it.Standing in the doorway a few seconds, I huffed feeling drained by his foul mood that didn’t seem to be calming down, I know his conversation with the rogue triggered him but I didn’t think he’d still be brooding over it I definitely didn’t pick him to be such a clumsy drinker.I wonder what that last tantrum was about, what did he mean everyone leaves? Could it have something to do with what the rogue said?“I never left, I’m here” I playfully raised the kit above my head my voice also playful like I was babysitting a troubled teen who had just hit puberty and needed reassurance for everything. For the most part of it this man here was definitely troubled. He looked at me lazily, raising the bottle to his lips. And I sighed sitting myself beside him and taking his hand to inspect it. Logan's toes tingled in excitement, he was finally going to get some of the answers he couldn't get out of Delynn, maybe his admiration for Audrey would make him tell them where his sister was, all he wanted was to find his sister, he wondered how she survived all these years. He never forgave himself for not protecting her back then, and now, a light of hope flickered deep within him, this time their parents were no longer around he would try his hardest to protect his sister and they would never be apart again.Audrey’s face was frowned her brows furrowed as she seemed to be deep in thought, she couldn’t decipher what all this talk about energy meant. Logan had mentioned feeling something from her and now Delynn was saying the same thing.Taking a deep breath, she intertwined her fingers stilling her shoulders “Look Delynn I’m sure you’re here for a reason.” Her face was stoic her tone firm. “why don’t you save our time and yours by simple getting to the point”Logan’s chest rose p
Audrey sat in the gazebo; she found it was a nice quiet place where she could get lost in her head. The Gazebo looked like a sanctuary built from black wood encased by transparent glass in the far end of the garden. It was surrounded by a pond that formed an isle when one walked towards it, her favorite part was the green surrounding it as well as the smell of pine and water that lingered in the air. Although it was just the placebo effect, Audrey found the air there to be more comforting and refreshing, if she had a choice she would spend all her days there. The interior was just as much as mesmerizing as the exterior it was a minimal modern setting with a modern fire pit in the center of the room, an L shaped couch, two straw couches that were flooded with neutral colored cushions and a glass table meeting the L shaped couch. She sat in the L shaped couch allowing her body to melt into the plush material as she held a novel which she hadn’t opened. Her eyes wandered off into the gre
