Audrey’s POV
“You scared me” I breathed wrapping my arms around my brother.
“I’m sorry pumpkin are you ready to do this?” he asked setting me aside as he pulled out our already packed bags, I took a deep breath and nodded my head, after yesterdays’ beating Scott was so hurt he decided we were leaving the pack, well we were basically escaping since it was illegal not to mention disrespectful to leave without telling our alpha, he would probably kill us if he found out.
Scott began loading our bags into the truck, we had to be out of here before lunch ime finished or else we’d be doomed.
As Scott loaded the bags I went to one of the kitchen cabinets and saw that I had almost left my blades behind, I took the whole pouch opening it to admire its contents, I may not be a shifter but one day I would be really good at throwing a blade, who knows maybe I’d be the one to finally free our pack of this ruthless alpha.
“Come on pumpkin” Scotty called out already seated in the driver’s seat, shame covering me at the impure thoughts I just had, my brother was more eager than I was and I was the one living in hell, I looked back at the house I grew up in, feeling a bit sad to be leaving everything behind but also very hopeful. I walked out holding my pouch and favorite novel and as I was locking the door heard cracking in the distance it was alarming and it gave me warning chills but Scott was in such a hurry that I brushed the sound off, he helped me get settled in the truck and we pulled out of the place.
I love Scotty so much he is only person who treats me like I mean something, the only person who cares about how I feel and the only person who would do anything to make sure I am safe. He is the one good hand life dealt me.
“You get a feeling were being followed?” I asked my brother who just shook his head claiming that it must be my nerves, except I wasn’t nervous, I wasn’t excited either, I felt like I was holding my breath, waiting for something to happen.
I tried to calm down focusing on my novel instead of all this thoughts, the truck was fast approaching the borders and I couldn’t help but hold my breath in a count down.
“Were almost there pumpkin your suffering ends today” Scott smiled at me pressing harder at the accelerator. I smiled back at him and imagined myself running free in a field of sunflowers, the fresh summer air blowing through my hair and also swaying my flowy summer dress from side to side, with Scott sited on a picnic blanket having a laugh with the new friends we would make, their laughter sounding ever so pure and melodious.
I was brought back to reality by the discomfort caused by the truck driving over something, we almost got swayed off the road but Scott immediately pulled the hand-brick causing the car to come to a sudden halt we got out to take a look at what just happened low and behold spikes, right there in the middle of the road.
“Fuck!” my brother cursed, all of the wheels were busted pretty bad, the truck would need a completely new set of wheels.
“Well what do we have here?” a voice boomed causing a sinking sensation in my stomach and an extremely cold shiver down my spine, it was the alpha he stepped out of the woods followed by his beta and my ex best-friend Megan, Intense fear struck my heart like a cold arrow and I swallowed hard, I lowered my head not daring to look the man in the eye.
“if I didn’t know any better I’d say somebody was leaving without saying goodbye.”
“Thank you Thomas,” he said and one of the guards stepped out of the woods, I assume this is the person who has been following us, I knew something was off, I should have listened to my gut, but how did anyone know of our plans?
“Please Alpha just let us go” Scott spoke up while I kept my head down.
“Okay!” he answered simply.
“You’re free to go, I mean you asked so nicely” I looked up at him and saw nothing but hate, his eyes held a certain darkness, a chilly darkness so dark that if you stare for too long it feels like the darkness will swallow you.
“If you fight me” he ended, I whipped my head up to see if he was joking but his face was completely void of any emotion.
“I,, I, we meant no disrespect Alpha please have mercy” Scott pleaded his pleading only resulting in the alpha laughing at us like we were clowns at a circus, I for one sure did feel like a clown, how did I think I could escape, now I have endangered both my brother and I.
I didn’t mind the beatings and berating, they were my life, but I would never forgive myself if my brother got harmed because of me.
“Please! Punish me alpha. I am the one who convinced him to run away with me” I pleaded my voice trembling as I kept my head down, apologizing would never work in fact according to the alpha that was another sign of weakness, which he absolutely despised.
Instead of responding to me he shifted into his wolf, his eyes turning blood red as black shiny fur covered his body, he walked past Scott and slowly approached me, my heart felt like it was beating at my throat and I couldn’t swallow it down, the alpha struck me with a slap across my face which sent my body flying across the road crashing into the car that was pulled on the side.
I crashed so hard it felt like all the air had been knocked out of my lungs, coughing out blood, I groaned in pain happy that my brother would be spared punishment I’d rather me than him, my internal celebration was cut short as Scott furiously shifted into his wolf and leaped sinking his teeth right into the alpha’s shoulder.
“Scott! No! Please stop.” I tried to yell out, but there was no stopping them, Logan was a maniac who loved hurting people and Scott had always wanted to make him pay for everything he’s put me through, I could never stop them even if I could shift.
I heard whimpering and saw that the alpha had my brother pinned down.
“Alpha Logan, Please he is the only family I’ve got” my cheeks were soaking wet and I had absolutely forgotten about all the pain my body was going through, I couldn’t bear the thought of losing the only person who cared for me.
The alpha’s wolf looked directly at into my eyes snarling before he ripped my brother’s head off and threw it at my feet, blood pooling where his lifeless body lay.
I screamed so loud I was sure the whole pack heard, so loud I couldn’t hear myself, so loud it felt like my head was going to explode. I clutched hard at my head tightly shutting my eyes as if that would undo what had just happened and erase the memory from my mind.
“And you, little human” the alpha said grabbing a fist full of my hair pulling me off the ground so that I reached his level, he had changed back into his human form his large hand wrapped around my neck leaving my feet dangling in the air, I looked at him with pleading eyes not knowing what I was pleading for because at this point I would be glad if he actually killed me.
His cold sinister eyes looked directly into mine and I heard a loud disturbing ringing in my head it was so loud I felt like I was losing my mind, this must be it I must be near my death, I thought as the alpha held my gaze and the ringing in my head got louder and louder.
‘Harder’ I wanted to tell him to choke me harder but I couldn’t find my voice instead a foreign voice spoke up loudly booming the words “MATE!!!”
Audrey’s POVLogan dropped me to the ground like he had just been burned by hot metal my knees getting scrapped as I landed on them. I coughed intensely, greedily breathing in air like I had gone without it for days.‘Mate!!!’ the voice continued and it felt like I was losing my mind, where was this voice coming from? Where was the air? My lungs were burning and I was hearing voices.I lifted my head to find the alpha looking at me in a way he’d never looked at me before, he looked both amused and pissed at the same time, he looked like there was something twisting in his head.‘Mate’ the voice repeated once again but this time it sounded like it was fading away,‘Shut the fuck up!!! ’ I wanted to yell, but instead, I felt butterflies and warmth spread throughout my body, my heart suddenly leaped, filling me with doom and dread at the realization that Alpha Logan was my fated mate.I must be losing my mind, this must be some kind of a prank, my brother’s head lay a few meters from m
Audrey’s POVI turned in my sleep and opened my eyes to find stormy grey ones looking directly into my orbs, I would have thought Logan would have me sleeping in another room or on the floor even but to my surprise I’ve been waking up next to him for the past four days, he is not there when I go to bed but he is there when I wake up.He hasn’t said much and I haven’t attempted to speak to him either, what can I possibly say to the man who killed my brother? I have nightmares about that day every night, Scott was the most important person in my life, He was the only person that brought any kind of happiness in my life and now he was no more.“Get dressed” Logan said interrupting my thoughts and finally speaking after our last interaction.“What?” I silently asked getting up. He got out of bed standing on his feet, his tall frame towering over me as he looked down, he wore nothing but grey sweatpants which hung dangerously low his toned abs in full view, I felt a bit flush seeing him th
AudreyI got out of the Shower to find Meagan and two other ladies in the room, a bunch of dresses were laid out on the bed, the two ladies looked me up and down in a judgy manner which I took offence to, as much as I was used to getting dirty looks and hearing whispers from the pack members it doesn’t mean it didn’t sting, there were days when it really got to me, days when I wished I didn’t exist, when I wished there was an alternate universe I could escape to.I returned the same nasty looks they had given and asked what they were all doing there, Megan replied saying it was the alpha’s orders.“We are supposed to help get you ready.”“Because I can’t do that myself?” I asked and no one answered, “Get out! all of you” I threatened lowly but the two ladies whose names I hadn’t gotten chuckled trying their best not erupt in laughter my temperature rose as rage filled me, I felt mocked and disrespected, was this Logan’s plan? To make a joke out of me, he seriously didn’t have to go th
The drive to the Palace was a quiet calm one, soft music was playing in the background and Logan kept speaking from time to time telling Audrey what to and what not to do, not in a commanding manner but just as a heads up.They got to the palace and Audrey remembered that the last time she was here was when they were on a field trip in the 6th grade, she remembers meeting the King and the Queen they were so nice she wanted to be just like the Queen. Strong, elegant, nice and graceful, but to her disappointment she had turned out to be a disgraceful non shifter who by some miracle was mated to the murderous alpha, she sighed deeply stepping out of the car.Logan wrapped his arm around her waist taking her left hand on the far end and intertwining their fingers the closeness giving her butterflies, ‘this man smells so good’ she thought to herself. Four guards and a butler were stationed at the door, they all nodded in acknowledgement at the pair, and Audrey found herself pressing harder
Audrey’s POVI squinted my eyes trying to adjust them to the light, the curtains had been drawn and breakfast had been set by my side. It’s been three weeks since I’ve seen Logan around the house, his presence I feel, but his face I don’t see, he’s been ignoring me ever since we got back from the dinner, not that I’m complaining, seeing less of him has been very healing to my mental and emotional health. I got up and prepared the bed, took a shower then went on to have my breakfast downstairs the house was so quiet my mind drifted off to all the times my brother and I sat and shared a meal together, it was just the two of us but his presence felt like I was in a room full of thousands of people, he was so kind and funny, and he always remembered to care for me. I missed him so much.“Are you crying?” Logan’s voice pierced through my thoughts, I hadn’t noticed him standing in the doorway. Audrey's POVLogan and I got in the car and followed the guard to the borders, I didn’t have the greatest memories of that area but I pushed everything backward and when we got there we found a young boy probably in his 18,19s he seemed pretty beat up, like life hadn’t dealt him the nicest hand, he was pinned to the ground by one of the guards and when he saw me he squirmed happily in what I assumed was an attempt to acknowledge my presence.“It’s you” he coughed out dryly“Moon-born” he looked at me his eyes sparkling with hope and I was just confused, why was this boy so happy to see me and what’s with the name?Logan eyed him before squatting down to his level.“Why are we here?” he asked no one in particular, his eyes fixated on the boy his hair messily covered one side of his face and his alpha aura dominated the whole place.“Alpha this boy has been snooping around the borders for the past three days, and today he came up to us claiming he needed to see the Luna.” The guard expl
Audrey and Meagan burst open the door to find both Mason and Logan in their wolf form, Mason’s grey wolf had Logan‘s black wolf pinned to the floor in an attempt to restrain him from attacking the young boy who was only a few feet away looking more frightened than when the guards had him pinned down.Audrey wondered what enraged Logan so much, he seemed so peaceful a few minutes ago skipping over rocks and buying her kebab sticks. She couldn’t help but shiver at seeing her mate so enraged his wolf was foaming and growling viciously. She took slow steps towards both wolves, her heart hammering hard against her chest, she didn’t know what she was doing but she knew she had to calm this man down.“Logan?” Her soft quiet voice echoed through the room wheilr she took the slowest steps she could towards the two big wolves pinning each other down‘Goddess is this what walking into the Lion’s den feels like?’ She thought to herself. ‘If this wolf decides to rip me apart it's game over for me
Audrey's POVI came back to the lounge with the Kit in hand Logan was now plunged on the couch his good hand tightly holding on to the glass bottle with brown liquor in it.Standing in the doorway a few seconds, I huffed feeling drained by his foul mood that didn’t seem to be calming down, I know his conversation with the rogue triggered him but I didn’t think he’d still be brooding over it I definitely didn’t pick him to be such a clumsy drinker.I wonder what that last tantrum was about, what did he mean everyone leaves? Could it have something to do with what the rogue said?“I never left, I’m here” I playfully raised the kit above my head my voice also playful like I was babysitting a troubled teen who had just hit puberty and needed reassurance for everything. For the most part of it this man here was definitely troubled. He looked at me lazily, raising the bottle to his lips. And I sighed sitting myself beside him and taking his hand to inspect it. I used tweezers to pull out t
Audrey sat in the gazebo; she found it was a nice quiet place where she could get lost in her head. The Gazebo looked like a sanctuary built from black wood encased by transparent glass in the far end of the garden. It was surrounded by a pond that formed an isle when one walked towards it, her favorite part was the green surrounding it as well as the smell of pine and water that lingered in the air. Although it was just the placebo effect, Audrey found the air there to be more comforting and refreshing, if she had a choice she would spend all her days there. The interior was just as much as mesmerizing as the exterior it was a minimal modern setting with a modern fire pit in the center of the room, an L shaped couch, two straw couches that were flooded with neutral colored cushions and a glass table meeting the L shaped couch. She sat in the L shaped couch allowing her body to melt into the plush material as she held a novel which she hadn’t opened. Her eyes wandered off into the gre
Logan's toes tingled in excitement, he was finally going to get some of the answers he couldn't get out of Delynn, maybe his admiration for Audrey would make him tell them where his sister was, all he wanted was to find his sister, he wondered how she survived all these years. He never forgave himself for not protecting her back then, and now, a light of hope flickered deep within him, this time their parents were no longer around he would try his hardest to protect his sister and they would never be apart again.Audrey’s face was frowned her brows furrowed as she seemed to be deep in thought, she couldn’t decipher what all this talk about energy meant. Logan had mentioned feeling something from her and now Delynn was saying the same thing.Taking a deep breath, she intertwined her fingers stilling her shoulders “Look Delynn I’m sure you’re here for a reason.” Her face was stoic her tone firm. “why don’t you save our time and yours by simple getting to the point”Logan’s chest rose p
