Sneaking into the mansion successfully

Abigail's POV

I have been in the maid's quarters for five days now, and I have to say, the experience has been pretty ‘meh’. Not terrible, not great, just…in the middle. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that bad, but it’s not exciting either.

They treated me with respect, but I felt out of place. Hazel and Aria had tried to cheer me up when I was down, sometimes successfully, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I didn’t belong. As much as their kindness and friendship helped, there was still a part of me that felt absent, an emptiness that even their companionship couldn't quite fill.

Was I happy? I still couldn't answer that question. I had stayed for a long time without seeing my son and it felt like a part of my flesh was ripped away from my skin.

I wanted to see him. I missed him so much that sometimes I tried sneaking into the main mansion but I was always denied entry or caught in the act.
