CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN: FINDING POPPY

ILANG minuto na ‘kong nagmamaneho at tinatahak ang malabong daan dahil sa malakas na ulan. Parang namamanhid na katawan ko sa pag-aalala kay Poppy dahil hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa rin siya nakikita. Nakailang beses na rin akong tumawag sa number niya, pero hindi pa siya sumasagot. Sa voicemail pa rin pumapasok, at hindi ko alam kung narinig na niya mga pinadala kong voicemail.

‘Where are you, Poppy?’ I whispered to myself.

I turned down the road that led to the park, hoping against hope that she might have sought shelter there. The trees swayed wildly in the wind, branches snapping and crashing to the ground. I had to swerve to avoid debris, my knuckles white on the steering wheel.
