82 — War Fugitives

The crash reverberated for the second time, and I jumped as I grabbed one of the twins. The others did the same while Bruno pulled Lilith behind him.

“What the hell is happening?” Damon asked as we gathered in a small circle.

“We're under attack,” Jaden said.

“It’s started,” Damon said, swallowing hard. “We need to get them out of here.”

“Go up to your floor and gather as much as you can,” Jaden ordered. “Damon, have the group delay them as long as possible. Lilith, you, Bruno, and the kids need to leave now,” he said as I felt my eyes fill with tears.

She nodded, taking a deep breath. “You’ll go through the basement,” Damon said. “It leads to a super safe and hidden exit. It would take days for them to find you there.”
