At the end of the run, Jasmine jumped off the board, feeling more exhilarated than she ever had before.

“Great run!” Zain shouted. Then a wave came up, and he laid on the board and started paddling. She waited on the shore, watching as he stood and dropped into the wave at just the right time, catching it just before it crest, jumping off when he got close to shore. When he stood, his hair was slicked back as water glistened on his skin. He was completely and utterly gorgeous.

“Great job!” Jasmine stood on the shore, clapping. “But you could have made a little twist at the end. You know, added some flair,” she teased. She couldn’t just say he was magnificent. After all, the Greek god was probably used to people telling him how great he was.

But to her surprise, he picked up his board and ran toward shore. “Oh, I could, could I?” Then he dropped his board on the shoreline and ran toward her.

“Uh, oh!” Her eyes grew wide, laughing as she ran away.

Then, suddenly, he grabbed her from behind around the waist and started tickling her. “Stop!” she laughed, squirming to get away from his grasp. But through it all, she couldn’t help but notice how perfectly she fit into his arms and against his chest. “Okay! Okay! I give!” she laughed as he released her.

Then she noticed he wore a tooth on a chain around his neck that looked great against his tanned skin. Without thinking, she lifted it from his chest to take a closer look. “Shark’s tooth?” Jasmine looked up into his eyes, and her breath caught. He had the most beautiful brown eyes she had ever seen.

“Yes.” He nodded, looking down at her, making no attempt to release her. Zain must have come to his senses because he dropped his arms and reached up instinctively to feel the smooth tooth. “My uncle gave it to me years ago.”

She arched an eyebrow. “He surfs, too?”

He nodded. “He was the one who taught me how.” Then he took off toward the water and grabbed his board. “Come on! Show me that little flip flare you were telling me about!” Zain ran out into the water, dove onto his board, and paddled out.

Jasmine picked up her board lying on the shore and followed. Man! He was a sight in the morning! She knew she could spend the rest of her life watching him and never get bored. Then she realized what she had just thought and couldn’t believe her thoughts had betrayed her like that. They had just met, after all. But up close, the way his muscles played under his tanned skin, the way the water beaded up on him made her want to lick it off. God, he was gorgeous. She shook her head, forcing herself to focus on surfing.

Suddenly, the energy in the water began to rise, and the sea began to swell in the distance. Jasmine nodded toward it. “You want this one?”

He shook his head. “No, let’s both go.” Then a mischievous smile lit his lips. “I’ll race you!”

“You’re on!” She started paddling alongside him, and then they both dropped into the wave together, but he steered his board away from her, obviously giving her room. But he was close enough that she could still feel his presence. She had never felt as safe in her life as she did at that moment. Also, with as many male friends as she had back in Maine, none of them had affected her how Zain had. Just being near him sent electrical currents through her and made her think things she never had before. She was hyperaware of him, and she had no idea why or how it was possible, but it was.

They surfed together throughout the morning, and then he asked, “So, are you getting hungry?”

She nodded. “A little. Are you?”

Zain’s eyes opened wide. “Starving! I think I’ve worked up an appetite out here.”

Jasmine laughed. “So, you want to come to our apartment for lunch?”

Zain shook his head. “No, but I’d like to take you to get something to eat.”

Her smile fell. Even though she trusted him and felt comfortable surfing with him, going somewhere alone with him was another story.

He must have read her expression because his eyes suddenly grew wide. “No! I didn’t mean for us to leave here. My uncle owns a restaurant and a food truck business, and he usually parks it not far from here toward the pier. Wanna go?”

Jasmine nodded but motioned with her head toward the apartment. “Let me tell my mom where I’m going first. We can leave the boards there, too.”

Zain tilted his head to the side. “Why don’t we leave our boards in the back of my truck? Then we can walk down toward the pier?”

“I’ll just take my board to the apartment.” Jasmine grabbed her board and headed off. “Be right back!” She just hoped he waited for her and didn’t leave without saying goodbye. At his age and being a college student, he wasn’t required to check in with his parents, and neither was she, but she didn’t want her mom to worry.

“Mom! I’ll be right back!” She yelled, leaning her board against the wall as she tied her beach wrap around her waist.

“Okay!” she shouted back, her voice coming from the kitchen. Then she appeared in the doorway. “Where are you going?”

Jasmine smiled, fixing her leather bracelet back in place. “To a get something to eat. Zain’s uncle has a food truck.”

A crease formed between her mother’s eyes. “Who’s Zain?”

Jasmine shrugged, slipping on her shoes. “Just a boy I met surfing. He’s really good!”

A broad grin spread across her mother’s lips. “A boy, huh?”

“Mom!” Jasmine started toward the door as she quickly ran a brush through her hair and tied her hair back.

“Stop!” Her mother dug into her purse. “Let me get you some money in case you need it.”

“Mom! He’s waiting!” she adjusted her ponytail in the mirror by the door, wishing she had enough time to slap on a little makeup.

Her mother waved a bill in front of her. Jasmine reached up but her mother jerked it back. “Are you sure you trust him?”

Jasmine let out an exaggerated sigh. “Yes, Mom! We’re only going to his uncle’s food truck here on the beach, and we’re not going anywhere else.”

“Okay.” She smiled as she gave Jasmine a twenty-dollar bill. “Take your cell phone and call me if you need me.”

Jasmine kissed her mother on the cheek. “I won’t be gone long.”

“Have fun!” her mother called after her as she ran out the door.

  • Just One Weekend   Chapter 7: Uncle Miguel

ZainZain waited outside for Jasmine while she took her surfboard into her apartment. He guessed he should have introduced himself to her parents. But they had just met, and they were only going to his Uncle Miguel’s food truck. His uncle made the best Tostones, Cuban bowls, and Cuban Sandwiches in Miami. He just hoped Jasmine liked Cuban food.A moment later, she came out the door, still wearing her bikini and sarong, but she had also put on dainty leather sandals and had pulled her hair back into a ponytail. She looked gorgeous. “Ready?”Zain nodded, smiling. “You know, if you don’t like Cuban food, I can always take you somewhere else.”Jasmine smiled, shaking her head. “No, I love it.”“Great!” He started walking in the direction where his uncle always parked. “It’s right around the corner.”“How far?” she asked, trying to keep up with his long strides. At that moment, Zain realized how much smaller she was than him. He had to have been at least a foot taller than her. Perfect. He

JJasmineJasmine was taken aback by Zain’s forwardness at kissing the top of her head. But she didn’t mind. She liked that people in his culture were so friendly and affectionate. But it would take her a bit to get used to. Although her parents were affectionate, it wasn’t like this. But she wasn’t complaining.“Sorry about that,” he replied, seeing her reaction.“I’m not.” She shrugged. “With you, it feels natural.” If any other guy had done that, she would have probably decked him without thinking. But not Zain. He was different. With him, everything was different in ways she couldn’t explain.“Here you go!” Miguel announced, setting two rectangle paper containers lined with thin paper on the counter. “Let me know if you’d like anything else.” Then he smiled at Jasmine. “It’s nice to meet you, miss. Make sure to keep this one out of trouble.” He laughed, pointing his thumb toward Zain.“Okay, okay! Don’t scare her off,” Zain said, taking both containers.Miguel shrugged. “She doesn

ZainAlthough he hated to say goodbye, Zain walked Jasmine back to her parents’ apartment, knowing she couldn’t spend much more time in the sun. As fair as she was, she would fry.“I had a nice time with you today,” he said as they walked toward her door.Jasmine nodded, obviously having had enough outdoor fun. “So did I.” But as they walked toward her door—literally right on the beach—she paused. “Would you like to come in for a while? We can pop some popcorn and watch a movie.”Zain shook his head. “Maybe some other day. But I would like to meet your parents, if that’s okay.” He laughed. “I don’t know what’s customary in your culture, but in my culture, the boy has to meet the girl’s parents before they go on their first date. Then, usually they have to bring along a little sister as a chaperone.”Jasmine’s eyebrows rose in disbelief. “Seriously? In today’s day and age?”He nodded. “‘Fraid so.”“Well, lucky for you, I don’t have a little sister. I’m an only child. But don’t give my

JasmineOver the next few days, Jasmine and Zain went surfing every day. It was an unspoken, simple vow between them. And Jasmine found that she looked forward to each day, knowing she would spend it with Zain. Then, when it was time to go, she hated to leave his side in the afternoon.“Where are you going?” her mother asked one morning just before she was going out to meet him.“Surfing.” Jasmine was already getting a nice tan from being out in the sun every day. On this day, she wore a floral summer shorts set over her bikini, thankful that her mother had insisted on getting them. Her mother’s lips were set in a straight line. “I don’t want you seeing that boy anymore.”“Mom, he’s a great person.” Jasmine hurried to gather her things, not in the mood to hear her mother’s complaints again. If Zain had been a boy of society from what her parents deemed as a “good family,” her mother wouldn’t be complaining at all. But that was one of the things that Jasmine liked about Zain. He was hi

ZainZain traced a finger over her cheekbone, along her jawline, and then gently cupped her neck with his hand, looking into her eyes. “Tell me.”Her breath quickened, and he knew her resolve was waning. “That’s not fair.”“What?” he asked, his voice low.“You’re using coercion,” Jasmine breathed. Then a broad smile spread across his lips. “Is it working?”Jasmine sighed, and her face suddenly fell. She pushed abruptly away and started backing off. “I’m going home. See you later.” Hot, angry tears began filling her eyes, threatening to spill over as she turned around and hurried away.Zain stood there watching her, stunned beyond all words. Then it hit him. She thought he was playing her. “Jasmine!” He ran after her and caught her arm, quickly turning her around, his eyes filled with shock. “Jasmine, I was only kidding around. I’m so sorry. I’m not a player. I swear.” He reached up to catch a stray tear from under her eye, but she turned away. “Hey, hey!” He looked directly into her e

ZainThen he gently parted her lips with his tongue and taught her how to French kiss, letting his fingers trail over her back. Suddenly, she kissed him with vigor, giving him the best make out session he’d ever had. He pulled back a moment later, breathless.“What’s wrong?” Jasmine asked, running her fingers through the side of his hair, her eyes searching his, filled with concern.Zain took a moment to catch his breath and to calm himself down before things got out of hand. Then he leaned in and gave her another sweet kiss, and said against her lips, “I just don’t want things to get too far out of control.”Jasmine nodded, understanding. She looked into his eyes, her eyelids half closed, looking sexy as hell, which did nothing for his resolve. He smiled. “Just do me a favor. If you ever kiss another guy, don’t kiss him like that unless you want more than you bargained for.”Then her face suddenly became serious as she wrapped her arms around his neck and looked deeply into his eyes.

Jasmine “If this is casual, why does it hurt so much?” Jasmine asked Zain as the taxi pulled up in front of the courthouse. Zain bites his lower lip, tears in his eyes. “We don’t have to do this. We can stay married and get a corm room together at USC.” “I know, but I don’t want to hold you back.” As tempted as that sounds, she could never forgive herself if he quits baseball to support a wife and family. “You’re not.” They had the same conversation for the last hour. And before that, every time one of them had brought it up. “Jasmine, we could rent a car and speak with the officials at USC when we get there.” He sighed, his eyes pleading. “then we can call our parents and let them know what’s going on.” She chuckled. “At least they would have a year to get over being mad at us.” Zain gave her a small, heartbreaking smile. “Or until Christmas.” “Let’s go.” Jasmine knew if they didn’t get out of the cab now, she’d take Zain up on his offer and have the cab driver take them to a

Zain reached out, his fingers trailing through the condensation on the glass door before pulling it open. The sound of water rushing from the showerhead filled the space with a soothing rhythm, and he stepped inside, eager for the embrace of both the heat and his wife.Jasmine was already there, a vision of serenity beneath the cascade. Her skin, kissed by water droplets, glistened under the soft bathroom light. She turned toward him, her eyes locking with his with an intensity that spoke volumes of the wordless pact they’d made—to cherish these final moments before parting ways, before their love was tested by distance and time.“Hey,” Zain whispered, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips, inviting and genuine. They were officially married now… no matter how long it lasted… and could do what they wanted for only a few more glorious hours. Zain’s heart sank, hating the thought of having to say goodbye to her the following day. He had waited for her his whole life. And now that he had found her, he wasn’t going to let her go. “Come with me to USC,” he breathed against her skin, the pizza forgotten. She rolled him over onto his back and lay across his chest, looking into his eyes. “Zain, we talked about this.” “I know, but we’ll have a whole year to figure something out.” He hated the thought of leaving her behind after graduation, but he hated the thought of losing her more. I’ve never felt this way before.” “Neither have I.” She hated herself for the thought but had to know. “Have you ever been in love before?” He sighed, lost in thought as his hard cock rubbed against her pussy lips, causing them to twitch. “I thought I had been in the past, but it was nothing like this. Jasmine Zain swept Jasmine into his arms, and she nestled against his chest as he carried her to the bed, laying her down gently, lying over her, careful not to crush her. Zain pulled her close, his hands slowly moving over her trembling body as heat exploded under his touch. His hands were strong and gentle, exploring every inch of her as he kissed and massaged her breasts, licking and sucking, and then slid down her body to her stomach. He circled her navel with his tongue and then moved lower, wrapping his arms around her legs, guiding them over his shoulder. “Zain, I want you—” “Just relax,” he breathed, dangerously close to her heat but with a tenderness that made her ache deep within. She ran her fingers through his hair as he clenched the side of her panties with his teeth, pulled them down her legs, and then discarded them onto the floor. “You are one gorgeous woman,” he breathed as he looked into her eyes, reaching up to rub and massage her breasts. Jasmine “I’ll be right back.” Zain rose from his seat and headed straight for the counter. She took another gulp of her Margarita, letting the sweet liquid work its magic, relaxing her. Jasmine smiled as she watched Zain at the counter, guessing she opened her mouth too soon. Zain sat in front of her a moment later with a take-out container and set it to the side. “For when you’re ready to go.” She nodded, smiling as her nervousness threatened to return. “Let’s finish our drinks first, then we won’t have to leave our room the whole weekend.” He chuckled as he took another sip of his beer. “Are you sure you don’t want to see some sights while we’re here?” “The only thing they want to see is you naked on our bed.” Jasmine didn’t know where this sudden burst of courage had come from, but she liked it. It must have been the Margarita. Zain laughed, rolling his eyes. “You know how to make a man squirm. Don’t you?” “Let’s finish our drinks and get out of here.” She didn’t have to te

Jasmine“So, you must be Zain Perez and you must be Jasmine Hunt!” A cheerful man greeted them as they walked in. “Yes, we have an appointment to be married at twelve o’clock.” Zain handed him his driver’s license as well as the marriage certificate. Jasmine handed him her driver’s license, too. She was afraid that the kind, older man might say something about her having just turned eighteen, but he smiled as he handed back their IDs. “Well, it looks like everything is in order!” He smiled as he clasped his hands. “This is how it’ll work.” He pointed toward a glass case where a woman stood, smiling. “Ms. Hunt, you’ll choose the bouquet you’d like, and Mr. Perez, you’ll choose the handkerchief to go in your front breast pocket. Then you’ll both come and stand at the altar.” He clasped his hands, suddenly serious. “Are either of you religious?”Zain glanced over at me and then nodded as he turned back to the man. “Both of us are.”“Good,” the kind man replied. “My name is Reverend Woo

Try as she might, she couldn’t sleep, so she rolled over to face Zain. “Are you awake?” His head nodded slightly in the moonlight. “Yes, of course.” “Promise me our life together will be amazing.” She took in the sight of him lying in his bed with his arm tucked behind his head, shirtless as the moonlight illuminated his body. “I promise.” There was a pause in the dimly lit room. “Look. We’re committing to each other tomorrow, no matter what happens on Monday. And I promise you, that commitment will stay with me... always.” Jasmine smiled, starry-eyed as she dreamed of what tomorrow—and their lives—held. “Always.” Zain let out a contented sigh as he turned to face her, his eyes illuminated in the moonligh
