Alex's POV

At lunch today, the air was different, it was a little tense between Cole and Chris but it's been like that for a while, that wasn't the issue, the problem was Asher and Emma sitting with us, well Asher sat her and Emma followed, after their kiss on Monday, there've been rumors that they're dating and that he came back for her, but he came back for me... what the hell was that? I sounded... jealous.

"Are you good?" Cole asked as he sat next to me.

"I'm fine." I replied with a smile.

He pulled me close and kissed me on the cheek before he began to eat, Chris scowled at him the entire time he was acting lovey-dovey with me.

"What's wrong babe?" Zoe asked as she played with his hair.

"Nothing," he replied, still not taking his eyes off of Cole, "I just remembered a talk I had with someone is all."

Cole's eyes immediately darted towards him and it instantly turned into a staredown, I wonder what

Alex's POV It was one of those clubs that had dimlly lit neon lights, the music was loud and booming, at first it made my ears hurt but as the night progressed, all I wanted to do was dance. I was afraid that they would see that our IDs were fake but they barely even looked at it before serving us our drinks. Zoe went on the dance floor after just a tiny sip, she said that the music was calling to her, I followed and danced along with her. I felt awkward at first but with the flashing neon lights, and beats that made me want to move my body some type of way, it wasn't long before I actually began to enjoy myself. We danced with a bunch of girls, grinding, twerking, and some even kissing on each other, it began to feel crowded and suffocating. We made my way out of the crowd to get another drink. The dj changed the song and Zoe suddenly perked up, "Oh. My. God. This is my fucking jam." she downed her drink and darted back to the dance floor. I was rushing to g

Alex's POVAfter that night, Asher began acting distant but in class, every time our eyes met I was reminded of his words, I was able to keep my mind off of him with Cole, like he invited me over today, putting past the fact that his room smells like Victoria's secret seduction perfume, nothing really seemed out of place, there weren't clothes on the floor that should be in the closet, the bed was perfectly made and... woah, why is he taking his shirt off?"Um... Cole?" he whipped around to look at me and I swear I could see his abs glistening, but I shook the thought from my head, we were here to study, right? "I thought you invited me to study for the test tomorrow?""Yeah, but come on Alex," he said and began taking his pants off, revealing a very impressing bulge, "even you had to have known that it was just to get you over, I thought that's why you followed me.""Don't get me wrong Cole but I just thought we were gonna study, like you told me." Asher's POVThis party sucks, I can't believe that Emma talked me into this."Come on Asher, at least look like you're enjoying this." she pouted, she looked like an angry squirrel every time she did that, "Or would you rather be here with Alex?" she asked with her arms crossed."What?" I question, taken aback by her sudden question."I know that you're in love with her," she rolled her eyes, "only a blind person wouldn't be able to see the way you look at her.""How do I look at her?" I asked, confused."Ugh," she groaned, "you look at her like the male love interest looks at the female love interest in telenovelas." she said, emphasizing the word 'telenovelas' and pronouncing it expertly, "What? You've never heard of telenovelas, pinche gringo.""I just- you speak spanish?" I was even more confused now.She slapped her hand to her forehead, "That's what my last name's for?" her eyes scanned my face and she noted my visible pe

Asher's POV It's merely minutes before we have to go to the dance, Zoe and Chris came over a few hours ago, to get dressed, well I gave Chris the okay because why not? but they're a package deal and now Zoe's pacing up and down my room like she owns the damn place, might as well give her the deed. "I can't believe she didn't tell me, why didn't she tell me? Why the hell did I have to find out from him and fucking minutes before we go to the dance? I'm gonna kill him," she said as she paced up and down my room in her navy blue dress, "I'm gonna take a baseball bat to his knees, he'll regret ever hurting her." I was starting to get annoyed, her pacing was making me anxious. I grabbed her by her shoulders and stopped her, "What the hell are you taking about? Who hurt who?" "And most especially," Chris walked in with a plate full of cupcakes?! Cupcakes of all things, "Who's kneecaps are we destroying with a baseball?" I furrowed my brows, "Why's t

Cole's POVZoe's been glaring at me since we sat down, before the prom, Alex and I were still dating so we asked to be seated at the same circle which defeated the entire pupose of the masquerade dance if we all sat together but it was something the girls wanted to do."I can't believe you Cole," she finally spoke up, "you even came with her." she rolled her eyes.Fuck, I've had it with everyone being mad at me, "What the hell was I supposed to do? Beg her to come to the dance with me and then break up with her after?" I yelled.A hand came on the seat next to mine and pulled it out, "Sorry, is this seat taken?" I looked up to see that smug bastard's face, and standing next to him... Alex?!He pulled out the other seat next to Zoe for Alex then sat next to me. Amanda didn't like it but Zoe looked freaking ecsatic, "Asher, where's your jacket?" she asked.Alex chuckled and he smiled like it was some kind of inside joke between them. I couldn'

Alex's POV It's been a week since the prom, after Asher took me home that night, he fixed the door and didn't leave till the next day, said he didn't want me to be alone. Since then we'd been having nightly rendezvous, sometimes I'd get ambiguous messages with just a place and sometimes he'd come pick me up, I also figured out that the number that texted me wanting to talk (refer to chapter forty-five) was his. He later told me that he had found out about Cole cheating and wanted to tell me but I never got back to him, and literally thirty minutes later, I found out. I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier as I tried to blink back my fatigue, suddenly, my phone vibrated on the cupboard next to my bed and the tiredness disappeared. I swiped my phone off the table and my entire body filled with excitement as the screen lit up with Asher's name, it vibrated again and my smile faded. What does he want? Cole: I don't know if you're awake right now but I just

Alex's POV The winter break was finally came to a close with one day left but Asher and I still weren't dating, when I woke up after we'd... I told him that I'd be his girlfriend but he acted like he didn't say anything and now things were weird between us, I mean we still talk and everything but we haven't gone on the date he promised and after that day, the nightly visits stopped. My phone vibrated on the couch and for once, I was actually reluctant to check who it was, I grabbed my phone and turned it on, all I saw was a notification from one of the games saying that my energy had been restored and the message from Cole that I still hadn't answered in the past two weeks. I sighed and tapped on the game notification, it was a merge game and it helped me pass the time until my phone dinged and Asher's name popped up at the top of the screen. Asher: will you go on a date with me? right now. I stared at the message for what felt like hours before final

Alex's POV It was the last day of winter break and like any high school student, Chris was holding a party at his place. After I'd gotten home last night I'd gotten a text from a random number which I'd later found out to be Amy, the girl on the beach. We talked for a while and she was really cool, we had the same interests, horror movies, dislike for the entire romance genre, so I decided to invite her to the party. Amy: yeah I'd love to come. I sent her Chris's address and the time the party starts before I started to get ready. Asher and I arrived early to help Chris and Zoe get everything ready, my phone dinged on the table, it was Amy, she said she's on the way. The party started filling up quickly, after today we would begin our last semester of high school, the most stressful semester of all, that and the first semester of freshman year when we had absolutely no idea what we were doing, this was our day to let loose before all the seriousness a

Asher's POV Mmmm... it's been so long since I held her like this. I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me as I delved in her taste, "I missed you so much." I whisper into her mouth. She broke the kiss, staring into my eyes and she smiled a very infectious smile, a smile that cut deep into my heart, before she kissed me again. ** We laid in bed together, making out for what seemed like an eternity until I finally broke away and turned to lay on my back. She moved in next to and rest her head on my arm while slowly tracing the scar across my chest. "Is it just me or is make up sex so much better?" she asks. I laughed, "Then maybe we should fight more often-" "No," she immediately says, "Not like that," she stared up at me, "never like that." "I was just kidding." I assured her and kissed her forehead. Now that we're back together, I feel like the worst is over. "What are you gonna do abou

Alex’s POV A whole week had passed after that night, there was nothing from Asher, call, text, nothing. I texted him to apologize but he never got back to me, I called so much that his voicemail box filled up and he still hadn't gotten back to me. I hope he's okay. The teacher walked in briskly and pulled down the projector screen before moving over to her computer and typing aggressively, practically the whole class could hear it. "Ms. Brown, you're gonna break that if you don't calm down." Noah jested and the whole class laughed, even me. She looked at us and back at the computer, unbothered by his comment, we were about to graduate anyways, so the teachers could give a crap about teaching us anything. A few minutes into the period and Emma bursts into the classroom and pulls me out with her, "Excuse us." she said to the tecaher before we left. "Have you heard from Asher at all?" she asked.

Alex’s POV 2 weeks passed and we hadn’t talked or even exchanged glances and to be completely honest, I’ve been sleeping better ever since the break up, much better, I haven’t had nightmares and I don’t see his scars open up, but I’d be lying if I said he was doing good too. He always came into class either late or hungover and sometimes both, till he got suspended. We’re graduating soon so he shouldn’t be acting like this. I couldn’t help but think this was my fault but I just wanted him to put himself first. Emma stormed into the classroom and stopped right in front of my table, “You fucking bitch,” she yelled. “Miss Rodriguez.” the teached exclaimed. Emma ignored him and continued to glare at me, “It’s not my fault, he-”

Asher's POV Fuck, how didn't I notice this? I had nightmares before-- not that they were the same as this but, I knew the signs; dark circles under the eyes from lack of sleep which are clear under hers right now, the persistent fear, I could see the fear in her eyes when she looked at me, so somehow it's centered around me. "Can you tell me what you saw?" I whispered into her hair. She hiccuped and sniffled against my chest, he grip tightened on my arm and I knew she didn't want to talk about it. "You don't have to tell me right now," I said, stroking her hair, "you can tell me later." I looked at the clock in the hallway, it was 12:57pm, three more minutes till passing period. We have to get out of her before that. I picked her up, walked into the nearest empty classroom and plopped down on a chair, slowly cradling her on my lap, "It's okay." I whispered to her. We stayed this way for a while, passing period had gone by and luckily n

Alex's POV A month had passed since the cabin thing, most of Asher's wounds had healed and everyone was back in high spirits since graduation was coming up. This was our last year of high school, of course we'd be happy. Asher and I were currently on a picnic date-- our first date since spring break. Richard, Asher's dad, had told taken him to their mansion to recuperate and now he's back, I just hope that he's really okay, the doctor said that he would heal physically but it was a traumatic experience. "What are you thinking about?" Asher's voice cut through my thoughts. I shook my head, "Nothing." He stared at me, not believing a word I'd said, "Okay," he held my waist and pulled me to sit on his lap with my legs spread on either side on his thighs. "Asher, your chest." I gasped, struggling out of his hold. "I'm okay." he said and held me on him till I calmed down, he moved his hands from my waist and began to unbutton his sh

Alex's POV We approached the cabin quietly and watching out for any traps that they may have laid down for us. Zoe took my hand, pulled it over her head and wrapped her hand around my waist to help me walk. "He's gonna be just fine," I said, "right?" I asked, suddenly unsure of my former statement. Zoe didn't answer and just stared straight ahead at Cole and Chris's backs as we neared the cabin. Eva decided to stay in the car, she sounded like she didn't even care about Asher. "So what's the deal man?" I heard Chris whisper to Cole, "Why are you just okay with being Eva's henchman?" "I don't think this is the right time for this talk Chris." Cole spat. Chris remained silent the rest of the walk until we got to the cabin doors, "Just whatever it is man, nothing and I mean nothing will ever come between our friendship, no secret is that big." he said and immediately kicked down the door. "Asher!" I yelled immediately, hoping to s

Asher's POV I woke up to the sound of rustling in the room, followed by the door closing. I looked down to Alex who was sleeping peacefully in my arms, it was a nice feeling to wake up like this, I looked the window to see that the sky had cleared a little. I kissed her forehead and pushed off the duvet from my body, revealing all the various marks on her body and I couldn't help but smile, "I'm sorry." I whispered into her hair even though what I was feeling was far from remorse. I covered her fully so she wouldn't be cold and got up from the bed, my clothes which I had discarded on the floor weren't there anymore, I looked around, spotting the bags of snacks on the chest and the foot of the bed and then out clothes right next to it. I walked over and put on all my clothes before leaving the room. I walked into the kitchen to make some breakfast for us when I heard whispers coming from a room next to it. I didn't want to eavesdrop but I couldn't help myself and stuc

Asher's POV I heard his voice but Alex saw him first, I turned around to see the man. He was gruff and short, wearing a red flannel with a grey tank underneath that was pulled up over his big belly with brown stains on it and his jeans were unbuttoned, his fly was open. I looked down to his feet and immediately laughed, on one foot was a plain black slipper and on the other was a pink fluffy bunny slipper, he probably has a daughter and hurried down here. Just then a little girl and a woman appeared behind him. "Honey who was it?" she asked, and once her eyes fell on us, her expression softened, "Well aren't you a darling," she said and whispered something to the little girl before she walked over to Alex, "You must be cold. Come, I just drew a bath, you can get in if you want." "Um..." Alex looked to me then back at her, "Thanks." she said and was pulled into the cabin by the lady.
